Nim, no doubt one of the greatest works of mechanical art ever! I was bidding on one at a classic car auction c.1975 at the old Hollywood Sportatorium, but I was going up against buyers, some of who were buying multiple cars that day, and I was not able to pull it off. However, I was successful when I bid on one of the sexiest looking rides later in the program: a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Seville coupe. Remember that one? I drove it home to West Palm Beach and you couldn’t wipe that smile off my face!
I remember those vaguely. Not a ,ot of them around and seems like last of the big American car era.
But also who didn’t love the 64 65? era Riviera’s with the hidden headlight covers etc. They epitomized cool American mid priced cars back then.
I must have been like 12 or so at the Canyon Country Store parking cars at night ( til 8 pm lol ) in the 15 space parking lot and Robert Vaughn ( the Man from U.N.C.L.E. lol ) had one probably a 65 or 66 and he and his date were going for awful spaghetti at the “Cafe Galleria” downstairs. Israel Update:
I didn’t report for a few days because most of everything was around the “cooking ceasefire”.
And what’s in the “ceasefire” was all leaks. We did get highest ever attacks from Hezbollah who is trying to seem victorious before the deal, they fired some 300 rockets in a day.
We also hit them pretty hard. And now Israel approved the ceasefire and since it will begin tomorrow morning , we are having hundreds of attacks to demolish every target that we have in Lebanon while we still can. Financial targets and military targets.
To be able to put it in order and understood it may take a longer post than usual so bear with me.
Now, the reason that I am calling it a “ceasefire” in quotation marks is that it’s not really a ceasefire, it’s “end of war”. We are withdrawing from Lebanon. Not only stopping fire.
I was also having a hard time developing an opinion about it so I delayed. In my group of right wing people everyone was furious about it. It felt like Bibi is going to end his political career. Like a surrender. I had to overcome the emotions and get enough data.
To understand the situation about this and the war at large one must understand the difference between “strategic win” to “tactical win”. “Strategic” means: a long lasting change of the equation. “Tactical” means: a win on the battlefield.
The fact that Hamas can no longer fire rockets (almost not) at South Israel is a strategic win.
The fact that they lost their leadership is strategic too. The fact they still have the hostages is strategic win for them. At the end I will go over our strategic wins in Lebanon. It will all make sense I hope.
So in Lebanon the goals were two: 1. To be able to return the Israeli citizens of the north, back home. 2. To separate the Gaza war from Lebanon war.
Note that dismantling Hezbollah in all of Lebanon would require a full invasion all the way to Beirut and was not a goal. And remember that the easy part is invading. Holding the ground is where trouble begins in such wars. We are talking about another long and costly war in terms of human life and money. When we were “over-successful” many saw the opportunity for dismantling Hezbollah.
So before I will detail the deal and if it is achieving the goals or not I need to put you in the shoes of Bibi for a short while. What were the factors and pros and cons he was facing?
The key factor was blackmail from Biden. Literally blackmail. Bibi reports that we were facing a significant arms embargo and not just a future threat but also in present time.
Bibi didn’t want to elaborate but said that the deal releases the arms.
But with this we could wait for Trump, the more significant issue was a threat that the US will not Veto an upcoming UN Security Assembly decision to impose a ceasefire now.
If the US doesn’t veto it then the war become illegitimate and Israel get a serious International isolation if it ignores. Which is irreversible in a Trump Administration, the Chinese and Russians will veto a reverse resolution. .
I didn’t do a full research of the implications but we are already very isolated and we don’t want to extend the circle which affects business and arms deals if we are in violation.
We still remember the revenge of Obama before he left Office. He didn’t veto a decision that states that the “Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal” and so we are still stuck with it.
At the same time the winter is starting and in Lebanon it’s snow and mud and the soldiers who are fighting a whole year are tired. They will do whatever is needed. But a refresher can be of benefit.
By the way what I am writing above is based on a speech that Bibi made to the nation today, aside for the “veto” point that is from a leak.
We would love to finish the operation and clear it all the way to the Litani River (we did arrive there in one area) but we are not granted the time.
Bibi is saying that this deal will enable us to shift the center of gravity to Iran. He said he can’t say how. It is obvious that he wants to take out their nuclear sites and Israel needs to be prepared. Some say that this is an old excuse, the “Iranian excuse”. I think that he is serious.
Main points of the Deal (begins 4:00AM Israel time):
-Israel withdraws gradually over 60 days.
-All fire from Israel and Lebanon stops.
-The Lebanese military and UNIFIL get back to South Lebanon.
-Only the Lebanese Military will be permitted to carry weapons or operate forces in South Lebanon.
-Arms sales and imports and things related to arms in Lebanon will be done under Lebanese supervision.
-All the installations related to manufacturing arms and related items will be dismantled.
-Installations and Military infrastructure will be dismantled, including weaponry that is not allowed will be confiscated. (I believe it relates to South Lebanon).
-There will be an agreed upon committee that will assist in supervision and enforcement of the agreement. Note: On this point there will be some US, Britain, France and maybe Germany involved. A US General will be in the area to be involved and they plan to open a supervision location is Beirut and in North Israel. No American boots on the ground. I don’t know all the technicalities on this.
-Israel and Lebanon will report on violations to the UNIFIL force and this committee.
-Lebanon will place its Forces along the border.
-The US will act to promote negotiations about an old border dispute between Israel and Lebanon. (It’s a minor dispute)
-There is a US/Israel attachment related to granting Israel the right to go in and handle violations. Also some points about Intel cooperation between Israel and the US.
Comments: Note that there is nothing that says that “Hezbollah will retreat”. But it does talk about disarmament in the South of Lebanon.
You have to know that the citizens who lived at the demolished border towns (we demolished most of the border towns) are not really civilians those are in large numbers the families of the Radwan Commando Force of Hezbollah and they will get Iranian money and rebuild their homes again on the border. Later they tend to hide weapons and dig tunnels from inside the homes. There is no buffer zone on the border which means that the Israeli citizens may refuse to go back home unless they know that the supervision is serious.
Note: Bibi had the mayors of the Israeli towns in a meeting and explained them everything.
Note: The deal is not between Israel and Hezbollah but between Israel/Lebanon/US.
Lebanon are allied to Hezbollah.
Note: The US is committed to help Lebanon economy and also help their Millitary get stronger. Also note that only elections will make this viable. The government must be replaced to anti-Hezbollah. Otherwise everything is wobbly. But it seems like Iran was using its influence to support this deal. After all we were on a path to finish Hezbollah if it kept on going.
Note: From our experience, deals with terrorists tend to fall apart. We had such a deal for decades and Hezbollah didn’t respect it. And counting on others also didn’t work. They build their Millitary of terror under the supervision of UNIFIL.
So the bottom line is that it will depend on Israel to enforce this. We, the Israelis refuse the old concept of “quiet for quiet”. We refuse to have genocidal terror armies on our borders. And we refuse to have an equation where rockets are acceptable. Those were the 10/6 concepts. No more.
Note: Today Biden gave a speech to announce this. Then he said that he is also working on a Gaza deal along with Turkey, Egypt and Qatar (Turkey and Qatar host Hamas). And the deal should end the Gaza war and give a path to a Palestinian State and a peace with Saudi Arabia. Please God, make Biden take his nose out. He is so harmful. A Palestinian State to those who have some 75% support of slaughtering women and children? Hell no. And does this mean that the arms embargo now shifting to Gaza deal? It better not be so.
What was achieved: (Now, pay attention to the bold letters. Those are the strategic wins that I was talking about)
We definitely beat Hezbollah, maybe not a “complete defeat” but it is a defeat.
They didn’t see what we did to them coming.
Those who pretended to be a “huge monster and defender of Lebanon” came out of it like a little Chihuahua.
Their entire Leadership few echelons down and their replacers were all killed systematically. Their “God” Nasrallah is gone along with all his command.
The beeper attack got thousands of their people lose fingers, eyes, testicles, hands.
I avoided posting the videos but the hospitals were full of horrifying images.
Hezbollah became a confused and terrified force that is laughed at in the Middle East.
We wiped out tens of the terror villages by the borders and destroyed tunnels and infrastructure that took decades to build.
There is no more threat of a 10/7 kind attack on our North border.
At least not in the next few years. This may be enough to get the Israeli citizens back home.
We separated the Gaza war from the Lebanon war. Hamas is now alone. The entire Iranian Axis of evil is much weaker.
We destroyed over 80% of their missile/ rocket arsenal. That means they became much weaker while our laser system is close be to operational to deal with other threats in the future.
There is a mechanism that could potentially work to maintain a new reality and if not then we have legitimacy to act.
So yes, we can say that we won! We didn’t complete it as I wanted to and a few more months could have put Hezbollah in a position that Lebanon itself could spits it out.
So one can say that “Biden is the savior of Hezbollah”.
But the reality has changed. Militaries in the future will learn this war.
From a threat of hundreds of thousands of missiles of all kinds we got them to a broken disorganized organization. The use of air force to get them on their knees is unprecedented, usually the air force is support. This one almost got them broken. Even their new leader is lacking charisma and is clearly more of an Iranian puppet than his previous one. In Hezbollah there are rebelling sounds now who want to oust him and blaming him for surrendering. On the other side some buy the propaganda and celebrate.
While I oppose stopping when the enemy is in a dying mode. It’s like saving them and the next generation may have to go to war to complete it. Or maybe they will violate and we will resume the war after Biden is gone (Bibi strongly suggested that he will continue the war if there are any violations), we must remember that we are at a war on 6 fronts and we need to be prepared for the big one. Iran. And chances are that this is coming.
We have nothing to be ashamed of.
At the final end I am no prophet. It could be that this war would have cost us hundreds of soldiers and staying there longer would mean thousands.
Or it could mean that we will have a much worse war in the future.
Or it could mean nothing., that we left and will come back in a couple of months.
Only God knows.
To end it all I am going to show you something about our Main Steam Media.
This was the headline in the main Israeli newspaper Yideot Ahcharont six months ago:
“In the third Lebanon war, the number of casualties in Israel will reach 15,000.”
We nearly destroyed Hezbollah with 124 victims: 79 soldiers and 45 civilians!”

Hello again David from the other side of the world. I think you accomplished something else. The whining protesters in this country yelled at the top of their lungs as long as possible and learned that no one cared. It just devastated their sense of self importance
Thanks. I think that the Pro Hamas protests and riots helped Trump to win. It reminds me of 2016 with the BLM Antifa riots.
The main bloc of voters in the US does not want to see “defunded police”, does not want to see riots that the Government ignores and let happen, does not want to see antisemitism pro Hamas, genocidal rioters, who burn Amercian flags and damage property and national symbols. I know it was not the main point in the elections but it did help Trump.
Mysterious are the ways of God.
There is a fairly well known Rabbi (Manis Friedman) who posted a talk about “war” after 10/7 – when and what makes it “justified” war. One of his points and I tend to agree, is that the enemy must be defeated completely, or surrender completely so that the threat from that enemy is removed for at least 30 years. Only then can we declare the war both justified and a success. Too soon or inadequate “withdrawal”/ceasefire only renders the fallen and hurt (on both sides) a “waste”. If a lasting peace is not the final goal and outcome, then, well they all suffered and died for nothing really. A new crop of fodder will simply be fed to the meat grinder at some future date. But, hey, what do we know, we’re just the fodder. All sides will now re-equip with “the latest” and what they’ve learned – the arms machine will continue to expand it’s deadly tentacles, make a gazillion bucks, and couldn’t care less that a 12 or 14 year old boy walking with his mommy today, will be mince meat in the not to distant future – again. We never learn do we?
Thank you. This is pretty much the overall view in Israel. Bibi may lose his career. This stop is very not popular. But Bibi knows how to rebound and may prove that it was the right move under the circumstances. If Iran is confronted and nuke sites destroyed then he will rebound and prove that he knows what he is doing. Without Iran Hezbollah will “die a natural death”.
Lebanon is different than Gaza. Many think we should just take the momentum and go all the way to Beirut and dismantle Hezbollah. This was not the goal. It’s easy to sit by a computer and demand this when your children are not having to fight in the Lebanese mud. Hezbollah is a strong enemy and destroying them can be a very long and bloody war.
The bottom line is that we have dependencies on the US and Biden squeezed hard so I tried to show all the sides and complete picture so everyone can decide if Bibi made a good decision. But days will tell. It may just work for a few decades. Remember that after the last Lebanon war we had a quiet for a few decades. It was not like Gaza that fired rockets and we had rounds against them every couple of years. If they can be pushed out of South Lebanon then it is a good win. If they agreed to stay out then it is worth it. Lebanon internally can restrain them. It is not a Shia nation, there are Christian, Sunni, Druze, Forces there.

I am deeply disappointed by the ceasefire. It appears that the State of Israel (as opposed to Eretz Yisrael) exists at the pleasure (or annoyance) of the West. The West will only tolerate so much, before jumping in to assert its ultimate power over Israel’s future.

I understand. It is a part of the mess up of 10/7. Dependency on munitions. But world order that gives the UN the power to isolate nations is another story.

David: Thanks for your reply. No, I do not think that the Haredi do not support a Jewish State, but the Haredi do recognize that Jews should be fighting for principles higher than the State. The current leaders of the State of Israel are fighting to protect the State, and to protect their positions as leaders of the State, but Israel is more than a state. That’s where I am coming from.
Israel’s political and military leaders and their media mouthpieces (i.e. all of the Israeli media, without exception) have been quite clear in stating, with very specific and precise words, that the State of Israel’s goal is to return residents of Israel’s northern border communities to their homes, rather than stating a goal of destroying Hezbollah. However, returning Israelis (or any civilians, in any country) “safely” to their homes is not a military goal. This is a civil goal. The IDF is not a housing agency. The IDF is a fighting force.
Yes, Israel is going through a frustrating moment. That’s all Israel does, because Israel’s leaders cannot come to terms with the foundational truth (right out of the Torah; if that’s not Israel’s “truth,” then, what is?) that having a State of Israel is not good enough. Israel needs more. Israel needs a completely independent, sovereign, undeniable and secure Jewish home, answerable to no authority other than You Know Who. Right now, Israel’s leaders act according to demands of of the US (i.e., the White House), the EU and the UN, rather to the commandements (or, in Hebrew, the statements) of a higher authority. Our frustration will continue until this situation is resolved, once and for all.

You are right. There is a core struggle in Israel between the “Jewish State” and the “Liberal State”.
Most people are on the “Jewish State” but you have some 35% of the Jews (I estimate) who are for a “Liberal State” and joining them are some 20% of the Arab population. Some are in the middle and look at other factors (mainly security) which is why the right is still wining elections.
We are at critical stage in existence. Our fate will be determined in the next few months.
Try to stay optimistic and look at the positive. The younger generation is on the right side.
Demographic factors are positive.

Understand, Bets. When my wife died, I confronted the new reality of an old guy, living alone. One realization
quickly made sense . . . at holiday time old guys (and gals) like me often become :”holiday orphans” and are not invited to Thanksgiving or Christmas gatherings. What happens is that people—families—become so involved that they simply don’t think about “the old guy at the end of the street”.
As a result many elderly men and women spend holidays alone . . . . Here’s a simple solution. If you are fortunate enough to have close friends or close relatives, it kinda pays to take care of yourself. I’ve found that my friends
don’t mind at all if I call and ask for an invite to their Thanksgiving dinner. Be well, dear Bet . . . 🙂

We have a group here of living alone seniors who manage to get together on our own at one home in the group for our Thanksgiving dinner and celebration. Each one of us contributes something to the dinner…. one cooks the turkey, another makes pies, others bring the other meal items such as casserole, cranberries, etc. It has become a nice tradition… sort of celebrating with our new “family”
What a lovely gathering, benzy 💕 Time does move on and so do friends and family. That’s what’s called life. How we adapt to change can be a challenge, and it sounds as if your day will be filled with camaraderie, good food, and no doubt thanks that all your paths have met now for a wonderful celebration of gratitude for blessings, of which your day will be just one. You haven’t said what your contribution will be, but I’m sure everyone will enjoy it. Have a wonderful time 😊
We’re good, dear friend. Honestly…our children and their families which include for them other grandparents and friends are spread far and wide. Caroline and Brian’s year has been perilous health wise for him as I’ve shared here. And although he is miraculously feeling better thanks to the prayers of my family here, long term remains uncertain…something I think we could all say of ourselves since we are not guaranteed a single day.
One of my prayers is for God to make use of me wherever He sees fit. Help me to bloom where He has planted me and has always done in whatever way He chooses. It is a gift for us to be a gift for Caroline and Brian at this moment by watching her sweet Maggie while his family have him with them this Thanksgiving. And of course, Caroline whom they have taken to their hearts. It would be impossible not to, as I can promise God’s placing her in his life at this particular time has meant that they do have him, thanks to her extraordinary devotion and care 🙏🏻💕
We are solitary folk, happy in each other’s company, and will spend the day reflecting on the many blessings God has given to us. I am acutely aware that there are far and away too many for whom Thanksgiving is a time of want and/or loneliness in this nation. It is those who occupy my thoughts and my heart at Thanksgiving and at Christmas. And so there will be prayers that tomorrow anyone enduring such situations will palpably feel the presence of Christ and the peace which is His to give.

But it was delicious, and will be better tomorrow of course. I did save some of the gravy Maggie. She cleaned the bowl so thoroughly I told Chris that was one we wouldn’t have to wash 😂.

Good Morning! I lost $25.00 at poker last night but a great time was had by all! I was ahead until I, as dealer, called for a game of in-between! That game ended up going on for 2 hours and was the biggest pot of the night.
‘But anyway it was Money well spent. We played for 5 1/2 hours and I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much.
The key to having fun at poker, besides knowing the games in dealers choice, is that everyone playing has enough money that the stakes do not get serious for them. We played $1.00 limit on bets, maximum 2 raised of no more than $1.00, no checking and then raising. Still that final pot in In-Between came to $286.00 which was by far the largest of the night. There were five of us playing.

I also got my new tool cabinets. Master Force 36″ x 24″ cabinets and a 72″ long work bench. Stuff was too heavy to unload by myself so I made room in the garage and just backed the old Ram pickup in loaded. I have help coming this weekend after Thanksgiving to get it off the truck.
I miscounted. I actually won $36.

It was! I went with $100 to play with and limited myself to that amount. This morning put the $136 in an envelope marked “Poker” and that will be my limit next time. I also limited myself to one adult beverage all night.
The next thing I need to organize my new garage the way I want it is two of the two door metal lockers with shelves. Brother is sending me a link to an on-line auction site he says has those lockers come up all the time.
And then the final thing will be a gun safe, a medium sized one that is fire resistant up to 1400 deg. F for 1 hour. Must have both digital combo lock and keyed entry lock.
Tip: when you set your digital combination don’t use 741776. It’s the most popular combination. And buy a bigger safe than you think you’ll ever need!
My dad was a wicked good poker player. He could play with professionals and stay in the game. If you’ve ever watched
one of “those” games (and understood the level of skill present at the table) you’d realize just how doggone good you hadtp be to play against those guys. My dad loved the game and knew all its secrets (he could count cards, for instance) but,never allowed himself to go over his stash. Poker requires discipline. He always knew his limits.

We live in a world of sin, once we step over into sin how can we be made pure again? We say Jesus died for our sins and we are “forgiven” yes ,but we will never erase the compromise. “Jesus was a man without sin.” He was without compromise, pure, incorruptible, and the only one. He had to be, just like Adam was corrupted, impure, compromised.
We cannot stand before God without the robes of Jesus. ‘If’ you ever get the privilege of being in Gods presence, you will see how corrupt you are. How pure his love is without any impurities, his glory. “Yes, you will fall.” You will cry out for mercy in holy fear of his unspeakable magnificence.
The choices we make should be with God in mind, it gives us safety, relief, guidance to a better life. I see we have disconnected the attributes of God from God and we choose the individual attributes that serve ‘us’. We serve God as believers not him serving us. That is why God says acknowledge him in all your ways, heart mind, soul. With jesus as our expression of perfection to attain, choices are made clear.
The step from man to God as our king, or ruler, is the next step to enlightenment. To a knowledge him in every aspect of society. Our society now has been seeing men as our expressions of greatness. When God is our choice we are truly free, his light shines through us and like precious gems that light is transformed in an individual color. A choice.
We say “spread the word” that word is acknowledging God in all your ways, first thought is God, not men. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and acknowledge him in all your ways.”

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

When I was going through the Phase 1 of the Special Forces Qualification course at Camp MacKall, we only got one hot meal a day IF we were in camp, and that was breakfast trucked out to us in insulated containers. We were in the compound about 1/2 the time and when we were to get that hot breakfast we had to do the required pushups and chin ups before being allowed to get in line. All other meals were C-rations.
However, on Thanksgiving, they trucked us back to Ft. Bragg to the old WWII barracks where we had stayed during pre-phase training and we got a nice Thanksgiving dinner in the old WWII mess hall there. We were given personal time that day, and that was the only time I got a shower and got to do laundry during that 6 week course. That evening they trucked us back to the fenced in compound and the unheated tar paper shacks and wooden sleep platforms. 201 of us went in, 99 graduated.
