Ignore the prices you see on the supermarket shelves and listen to the Farm Bureau folks. The price of a Thanksgiving dinner for ten people is five percent lower this year. You can feed a family gathering of ten people for a mere $58.08, cool.
[Farm Bureau – SEE DETAILS HERE]
Farm Bureau: “Americans stocking up for this year’s Thanksgiving dinner will see a dip in their grocery bills for the second year in a row. The 39th annual American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Thanksgiving dinner survey finds that the classic feast for 10 will run you $58.08, down 5% from last year. However, this is still 19% higher than five years ago.” (link)
I mean, seriously? A Thanksgiving dinner for ten people for around $58?
Does anyone else find this a little challenging to believe?
Suspicious Cat has gone from, well, suspicious to shocked!

The pie that I made was out of this world expensive …. the pecans were 7 dollars alone for 2.5 cups. And what exactly is pumpkin pie mix? Is that counting the eggs you will need? What kind of thanksgiving dinner is this?
Not from this planet.
The Thanksgiving dinner I bought today for 3 people cost $103.18, and that was going easy on just about everything, and not including the flour, eggs, sugar, shortening (for pie crusts made from scratch because the pre-made are too expensive). I made the same dinner for about $60.00 4 years ago, and it fed 6 people.
Those figures ….obviously someone who
has Not actually made shopping list,
prepared and cooked a Thanksgiving Dinner.
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
its liberal math
add up the numbers to where you want them to be.
sad thing is people will believe them
People probably think “I know those aren’t the prices here, but that must be how it is on average; I must just live in an expensive neighborhood.”
They relied on the same analyst that has been releasing the jobs numbers.
Expect the cost to be revised upwards next quarter.
They used common core math.
A 12 lbs frozen store brand turkey runs $25 in Vegas. That can only work for 10 if you invite several vegetarians. With beverages and dessert, easy over $75 for a modest meal.
Don’t want this to sound snarky ,but don’t they have sales for turkey in Vegas? In northern Wisconsin tukey prices run about .89 cents a pound to 1.49 a pound. Regarding some other baking staples, we all know that eggs and butter are off the charts crazy in price everywhere.
I bought a 3 pound uncooked Butterball turkey breast for $15 yesterday.
In Honolulu I was able to buy an 11 lb fresh Butterball Turkey at Costco for 99 cents a lb. Same as last year.
I guess it’s possible if you buy lots of frozen crap and you are feeding 10 kids under age 10. LOL
One cup of cream divided by 10 people !
12 ozs Cranberries for 10 people ?
3lbs sweet potatoes for 10 people .. are they nuts ?!
They’re NOT 10 Italian people , that’s for flipping sure !
Ridiculous .
I guess six is the new ten. Shrinkflation.
lol. This would NEVER feed my Italian family of ten we are having for Thanksgiving.
Plus, they didn’t list any pasta. We always have a pasta course.
Shut up and eat your WEF tofu and bugs!!!!
🐛 🐞 🐜
(Tastes just like turkey!)
My wife just ordered Thanksgiving dinner for 12 from Whole Foods for $229…Will use this as a teachable moment for the 1 liberal coming over to our house. Perfect example of reality vs. the lying government and media.
Sounds yummy, what time do we need to be there? Honestly, here in Houston you’ll spend close to $50 feeding a family of 4 an unhealthy drive through meal.
Common Core Math + Lies = Fake News
This is beyond absurd and the exact reason, President Trump won overwhelming in the popular vote and electoral vote, with the exception of the white liberal female college graduates.
The ONLY 10 people in the USA, spending 58 bucks for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner is if they are “white liberal female college graduates” because THEY TOLD YOU SO!!!!!
Yes.
So, I guess no butter, gravy, brown sugar, onions, garlic, mushrooms, spices, sausage, coffee, tea, soda, etc.
It is laughable. You’re going to feed 10 people on one pound of peas? Each person gets 1.6 ounces, but you haven’t figured in the cost of cooking those peas. Each person gets 1 unbaked roll, 1.4 ounces of cubed stuffing mix without any butter or cooking, and everyone is going to drink milk without any cost to refrigerate it……….LOL! The pie and the turkey will not be baked. There is no sugar for the sweet potatoes or cranberries – pucker up, buddy. And where are you going to be able to buy 1/2 pound of carrots to feed 10 people.
Easy, 20 lb Turkey, carved extremely well, mash potatoes, celery with uncle dans!
Gallon of whole milk for $3.21? In what universe? All those numbers are bogus. No butter, no seasoning, salt, pepper, sugar, on & on. No fruit of the vine? 2 glasses for 10 people is 4-5 bottles. Maybe it’s just my bunch. We have family that most likely won’t attend due to the election. Sad, right?
and smallest portions .
For the 2nd year in a row, BJs Butterball Turkeys were $0.99/lb. We bought a 22.5 pound turkey, and this year we got it for free. All we had to do was buy $150 worth of product there on one visit. We went on line, clipped the coupon to the credit card, and voila, no charge for the turkey at checkout the next visit. Spending that $150 was no problem at all. In an average month we spend more than that.
So our cost this year will be even less than that fake $58.
Great job!
$58 apiece
A year from now the usual suspects will be claiming the inflation from Trump’s tariffs will cause that same meal to be more than double, like $122.69+.
Propagandists are only going to continue lying to your face. Dunno about about any of you, I think I will just call out and ridicule any who attempt that in front of me.
Butter free, sugar free, Thanksgiving. Yum. That list is silly. I defy anyone to make a decent tasting meal with only those 11 ingredients.
who makes this crap up?
Our federal government.
We just finished our Thanksgiving shopping to host a family of 11, and we not only qualified for the free turkey by spending over $400 at our regional supermarket, we spent another $200 at another regional grocery store and they gave us two free cups of soft ice cream to take home. That doesn’t include what the family is bringing to complete the meal. We are actually having filet mignon as the main course (we all hate turkey), but all the other dishes are traditional Thanksgiving choices. That’s $60 a head. I was on shopping duty for the first time in a long time, and had major sticker shock – seems things are double what they were 4 years ago.
“I mean, seriously? A Thanksgiving dinner for ten people for around $58?”
They mean $58 each, am i right?
No that’s $58 for all 10 people .
Even us hardy Italians cannot eat 16 lbs of turkey each . at one sitting .
Now two 9 inch pumpkin pies each , maybe !
That math ain’t mathing. Maybe after the revision it will make sense 🤣🤣🤣🤣
There are NO russet potatoes on this list so I am already highly suspicious! No mashed potatoes and gravy?!!! Also, I just spent $31 for a 15 lb turkey and I can’t find a HALF gallon of milk for under $3 in my neck of the woods. Carrots and celery are BOTH at least $1.29 per pound so not sure how one can buy a half pound of BOTH for under $1 and how many carrots would that be for ten people? Does whipping cream even come in a half pint size? The smallest I can find in my stores is a pint and I paid $4.49 for that today, on sale!
And where is the butternut squash?
I have pledged to feed 10 people a meal, sometime this spring, for $58. So far, no takers. But it’s early.
You can’t take 10 kids to Burger King for breakfast without spending more than that .
The prices are correct. It’s just that this amount of food won’t feed 10 Americans. And the meal/menu they came up with is pretty unpalatable to many Americans. We aren’t eating plain peas or plain sweet potatoes; we are having green bean cassserole or sweet potato casserole with either marshmallow topping or a sweet crunchy pecan crispy topping.
Just an FYI here in San Francisco at the Wendy’s in the South Bay a Dave’s Single Combo meal large is like 15/16 bucks.
Store brand Wheat Bread at Lucky’s is like 2 bucks. I would believe $58 if TIME TRAVEL to the 1980’s was possible.
A 16 lb. turkey is hardly enough to feed 10 people. Consider the waste factor of bones and other unedibles in that turkey. And when you take away the thighs and wings, there is certainly not enough white meat from the breast to feed 10 people.
Browsing the intertubes, I found a webpage where someone calculated the weight of the meat they got from a 21.67 pound turkey: 4 lbs. , 5 oz. white meat and 3 lbs. , 13 oz. dark meat.
The farm bureau staff are either heavily DEI hires, or they’ve been snorting some illegal powder.
SNORT. Ha ha.
That one!
Guess they forgot to add the cost of what they snorted to the Tday meal estimate!
Just the pumpkin pie alone is a lie. You can’t dump pumpkin pie mix into the pie shell. The actual recipe on the back of the Libby’s can calls for 2 eggs—that adds almost $1 to the cost. Plus a can of evaporated milk—which will add another dollar to the cost. So just the pie will cost at least $2 more.
Glad you know how to do math. 🙂 . And I mean that sincerely.
True that. TG leftovers are a must, often tasting better than the sit down meal.
There’s not enough veggies for ten people. Only 12 slices of pie – so no seconds. Same with rolls – no seconds. I’m not sure that’s enough cranberries either once you cook/boil them down. I also always need more whipped cream than that will make – the teens put a lot on their pie.
Suspicious Cat is rightfully shocked!
Hey farm bureau, 10 people sharing some turkey sandwiches, is not a Thanksgiving dinner.
I guess that the way they get around that is that there are a whole pile of people who don’t cook, can’t cook, and don’t understand the math of actually fixing a meal like CTH.
You have that right. Think for the heck of it I will keep a running tally of my Thanksgiving costs to post at a later time. I have no clue who the $58 dollar bragger is, but he forgot to mention the cost of electricity re running an oven all day long. His food menu sounds like something I would not, or cannot eat.
What about the cost of butter, eggs. spices etc. that are a requirement for people who cook. I guess there ARE NO TASTE BUDS LEFT in the $58 poster.
That is exactly correct. This menu and cost was calculated by bitter vegan females who don’t cook, don’t like food, doing girl math…..
Executive order Trump 01
All Federal Employees, elected politician, political appointees and every other swinging *ick that has coddled on to the public tit will be required to celebrate, prepare, and consume the foods items purchased using only the Farm Bureau’s Thanksgiving meal planner. This will be done on live feed for the entertainment and information of the American citizens.
So HAPPY TO HEAR this most awesome news!!! /S /S /S
Particularly as I just now returned from the market with my Thanksgiving list complete @ $470 for 12 people.
The way I figure it, I am owed a refund of $412!! Yay!!
The $470 DOES NOT include the 21 lb turkey from BJs @ a good price of $1.99 a pound and the pies @ $75 that my mother so kindly insisted on paying for.
The $470 DOES include however many homemade sides and appetizers, as well as soft drinks, and admittedly I do tend to go somewhat overboard.
But it’s all good as usually plenty left over for everyone to take something home.
As to alcohol, it’s BYOB on anything besides the basics. I have the basics and when guests ask what to bring, the answer is, yourself or selves, and whatever it is you want to be drinking.
My last trip to Costco was $502.95. Granted that was a week before the election, not knowing what to expect.
Whipping cream $1.81? What drugs are these people on?
So insulting and offensive.
Whipping cream is $5 a pint in Walmart.
Everyone should pay 58 bucks and send the rest of the bill to Frank Luntz😂😂 Shocked kitty is awesome😂
Bugs are 5% cheaper this year.
Bull hit! Milk here is 5.99 gallon, cream is 5.38 quart
16 oz of peas for 10 people??
I am a member of FB, but geez louise! Who come up with this propaganda should be fired
I love all the treeper cats 🐈! They always make me smile.
They are quite awesome and adorable!
So if I feed my family of 10 massive amounts of turkey 🦃 jerky it will only cost me $58?
Heck I could include my 2 teacup poodles 🐩 and still have turkey jerky leftovers.
Who would have thunk it?🤔
Oh but wait, my little teacups Dani and Josie only like freshly oven roasted turkey lovingly deboned.💁🏻♀️
Forget the $58 will be more like $150.00.🤷🏻♀️
Menagerie, would you be good enough to share your awesome turkey recipe pretty please? 🙏
Hey, the bombs we’re sending to Ukraine cost 5% less this year, too!
Thanks, Joe.
And Nuclear Winter is just around the corner. Brrrr!
Looking forward to those radiation roasted chestnuts. Yum!
He must have meant $5.80.
That makes so much more sense.
Kamala’s DEI math.
Must have been $93
I paid $4.99 for a carton of eggs last week. No, they weren’t organic or anything special that would otherwise jack up the price. These lying government bureaucrats can go get bent.
Anyone else notice the one economist name? “Bernt”
Bernt what, the entire meal? Where do these people come from? Asking for some friends.
Well, a 12 lb turkey was $39, so I’m also calling b.s. on that.
Did they do the Fed food shuffle to get to that? Substitute SPAM for turkey and kiddie cranberry juicy box instead of cranberries? Maybe ONE McD applie pie instead of the whole deal?
I spent $16 on apple pie and ice cream
Last week I saw an organic, gluten free, apple pie in the freezer at my local health food store for ONLY $35 dollars. Closed the freezer.
My former accounting brain went to work. There is something called “the cost of goods sold.” Brandon and his cohorts have caused the cost of food to rise because they are IGNORAMOUSES.
It takes a diesel truck to get real food from wherever is grown to where is is sold. Oh but Brandon drained the Strategic Oil Reserve. That is a major factor in food prices these days.
Shopping at my local Aldi’s much more these days. I don’t know how they afford the low prices they offer for really good organic vegetables, fruits, and dairy products they offer.
L. I. A. R. S!
Turkey Diner for two with trimmings purchased today well over $100
Soylent Turkey
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No!!!!!
I’m trying to stop making puns…
But I can’t quit cold turkey 🙂
Stop stuffing this thread full of your nonsense
I think I received a dressing down, but…
i am Not Sure
Y’all are berry hilarious, and I am cracking up!
Are you giving me the berries?
I am thankful for your posts. 😍
Breast not look at the receipt.
