Republicans need to show the same unity that the Democrats do. Here is their chance to make up for a lot of previous failures.
Nailed it. Therein lies one of the biggest issues we face. And it has always been this way, as long as I’ve been following politics. Which goes back 50 years. The Dems know what they want are able to rally their forces and achieve unity when it is needed. The GOP has no idea what they want, other than enjoying the spoils, and fail miserably at ever achieving unity.
I think it goes deeper. There is a cadre in the GOP who want to see DJT and MAGA fail miserably. My prayer is that with both houses, 312 EV, and the popular, he will have enough power and enough of a mandate to not only reform the government but complete the takeover of the GOP by MAGA.
Part of that is going to be through the primaries. We need a Federal election integrity bill so that we can primary RINOS and NEOCONS and still win the general.
Perhaps part of the problem is that there are too few Republican politicians of the calibre of Hageman?
Many are lawyers but nowhere as sharp as her especially among the senators.
I find that many of them on both sides are very competent.
Ex prosecutor Lindsay Graham comes to mind.
Most have been to law school.
It would appear that many of them are compromised through blackmailable type behaviors. So they couldn’t do the right thing even if they wanted to.

It worked with my Senator, who initially planned to support Thune. She changed her vote and her office sent an email assuring that she wanted change in how the Senate operates.
She doesn’t. But enough people let her know they were watching and would hold her accountable.

The unfortunate thing for me is I live in NY. If I called Schumer’s office and told him I won’t support him if he doesn’t support President Trump’s nominees, he’d probably hang up or laugh in my face; assuming, of course, I would ever be able to speak directly to him.

If Unity is to come to the New Republican Party it will take a decade of sorting out the weaklings.
Unity can only be achieved if Republican leadership puts the screws to their underlings like Nancy Pelosi did/does. Unfortunately, the Republicans always elect “leaders” like Mitch McConnell who are controlled opposition … to conservative Republicans, of which there are only a handful.
The problem is, most Republicans are on board with the Democrats’ globalist agenda and are paid handsomely for advancing it. This is why it’s called the uniparty.

Met an older FBI agent who said it was during the Carter admin that the local branch offices began having to get approvals from DC to open investigations into local issues.
Thinking about this, it might have been that the branch offices lost the ability to open investigations into neighboring jurisdictions (If circumstances warranted) without having to get DC to sign off on it.
Not sure. But he felt that was when the corruption in DC began to tie hands and take root.

This was interesting in that opening question from the interviewer was an attempt to get her opinion on if the ethics committee should release the report on Gaetz and then what did she think about Senate members wanting to see info.
AND the first caller was lined up with a diatribe along the same lines… our tax money pays for it, we have a right, yada yada.
My first thought was this was just typical “lawfare” where, even if they get shot down, they are keeping the smack talk alive.
But I don’t think that’s it. I think what themedia is doing is setting the stage to pretend there is “public outrage” over the process of not releasing the report.
This was a card tip on their game plan. The controlled RINOS need a hook to hang their hat on to vote against Gaetz. Zipper problem isn’t working out.
So my take is that the game plan is that the dirty RINOS will hang their hat on the fact (and this is key) that “they need to see the report first”, safe in the fact they won’t be seeing it.
It seemed like Harriet was already on to their plan as she just shut them down with “follow the process”.
They don’t want to change the process, they only want to have a reason to vote NO because they “can’t make an informed decision without seeing the report”.
That’s the plan.
And then they will pound the podium and say the process needs to be changed! Someone, to great fanfare will author legislation promising that they will allow us the right to see all of the ethics violations of everyone. Yay!
Of course. That will never pass. But in the meantime, it allows them to vote No on Gaetz because they are unable to make an informed decision.

Harriet Hageman seems to be one of the very few real, honest, moral politicians. Of the 535 in Congress/the Senate, unfortunately, there may be less than 10% who are honest and not compromised. Maybe even less than 5%.

I have three observations: First, this is the way you conduct an interview. The interviewer let Hageman finish all of her responses without jumping in to “fact check” her. She asked probing questions and allowed the viewers to draw their own conclusions. Second, this is the first time I’ve actually seen Hageman interviewed or heard her speak. She is a gold mine for the MAGA party. She’s incredibly articulate, she’s well-prepared, she’s knowledgeable about the subject matter and is able to respond to questions with a wealth of factual information on the spot. Third, she is great at thinking on her feet. She put those ignorant, offensive callers in their place not by being offensive, but by laying out the data and facts to show them exactly why they are wrong. Like almost everyone I’ve listened to on the left, these callers had no response other than to resort back to their ignorant positions. The caller who started out by saying people like Wray and others had more character than her were shown how wrong he was by someone who personally questioned these individuals and was able to point out all of the lies and deception these persons of such great character spewed. She is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the future. I could see her one day running for higher office, possibly VP or POTUS.
Sadly, Matt just pulled his name from nomination. Move him to the Senate, Florida!
