It should not come as a surprise to see the same methods deployed against President Trump in 2024 that were used by the FBI in 2016. The difference is now that President Trump understands the full power of his office in the security clearance process and that he doesn’t need the FBI.
In 2016 the FBI used their power to conduct security clearances as a tool to stall and block President Trump appointments. Historically this is one of the ways a very corrupt and political FBI interfere in any system that might be against the interests of the Intelligence Community that controls them. However, in 2024 President-Elect Trump and his transition team have already taken a different approach.

The allegations of political bias at the FBI’s security division, or SecD, were revealed in a protected whistleblower disclosure sent to the House Judiciary Committee, which The Washington Times reviewed.

They can be reactivated within the time constraint of the clearance.
Someone transfers to a business role that supports a gov’t program requiring a clearance, there is a process to sponsor reactivation.
Yes, holding a clearance has been monetized. It’s a way the gov’t saves a ton of money and time when specialists with deep experience retire.
Keeping tight control over the clearance process is an absolutely necessity. That it has been politicized is unacceptable. The obvious long-term solution is to restore integrity of the process.
I understand the short-run incentives/necessities and trade-offs. Go for it. That said, off-the-cuff decisions in this regard will land up some day ****ing up the entire system and national security. Count on it.
I truly hope this is limited in scale and managed extremely tightly.
Forgot to include: business obviously saves money; gov’t and business receive a “full up round” much faster – presumably in service of the country. I have seen this work in important ways. For example, legacy systems that are still widely deployed but for which only a few true “experts” remain (e.g., data link systems). In different ways, same thing happens with satellite and crypto systems.
When they leave, their clearance is placed on “inactive” and they have zero access at that point. If their next job requires a clearance, it can be reinstated. The reinstatement period is 24 months and after that, they’d have to submit a new SF86/JPAS.

I used to see a federal employee at my gym, 3x/week or more, middle of the day, for a couple of hours. Not lunchtime–mornings. Turned out he was a federal employee ‘working remotely’ during and post-covid. When he had to go back F/T he retired. So I think there is some chance many current govnt drones will leave voluntarily. If they were offered some early retirement pkg there would be a mass exodus.

If people with security clearances–especially top secret SIGINT–are working from home on classified information, that is a HUGE national security threat.
When I used to work for one of the three-letter agencies, the only way classified information was sent/received/discussed in a person’s home with other cleared individuals was if the person had a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) in their his/her home office.
It was ridiculously expensive to have a SCIF in one’s home; to my knowledge on the directors and maybe the deputy directors of the three-lettered agencies had home office SCIFs. The rest of us analysts had to show up 40 hours a week to the office cubicle. Many did more hours than that a week, some had to come in on weekends, etc. This is NOT an argument to let security clearance work from home and give them SCIFs–it’s an argument that they return to the office FULL TIME if they want to keep their jobs (assuming they are part of the federal work force that work from home).
BTW: what about those who have retired/left the intel agencies with full security clearances? Are you telling me they ALL have SCIFs in their homes???? I highly doubt it. REMOVE THE CLEARANCES POST HASTE!!!!!!!

Matt Gaetz has a clearance, or if he was debriefed when he resigned Congress, it can be reinstated quickly. Rubio has one. Anyone that has been appointed who is a member of Congress has a clearance. Gabbard probably has one since she is still active military (I believe she is). An SF-86, Classified Information Non-disclosure Agreement can be signed at the authorization of President Trump, and they’re cleared.
Also, the FBI has been contracting out background investigations to contractors for years.
President Trump is the ultimate classification authority as soon as he takes office. His word is final.

I can think of the first 51 security clearances that need to be revoked on 01/20/2025. PDJT is gonna wear out a lot of presidential pens on opening day. I’m sure that even now the lists for this and the military members going to be recalled, active and retired, for military court tribunals/charges file, executive orders nullified and written, plus J6 incarcerated pardons are being pre written and ready to be stacked up on the desk awaiting his signature. The heads exploding in DC will make the 4th of July look like a tea party. It’s no wonder the weak minded and the guilty are crying and planning to leave, they all know what they have done for 4 years.
