She’s doing fine, and yes, I am spoiling her 😎👍🏻 She does fret for her mother though. And now Brian to whom she has taken to her affections. He is feeling so much better and has.more energy now that they have him balanced. Trying to add weight and moderately successful. One hundred sixty pounds on a 6’4″ frame doesn’t go very far. But Caroline said thinks he may be at peak “feeling better”.
Approved for transplant and insurance. But his score on the MELD (is that right?) has gotten better, so unless he deteriorates, his chances for one have dropped…that plus his blood type is apparently one of the rare ones…O positive. They are able, however, to now accept a living donor, which was not possible when he was at his worst. Day by day is all they can do.
But this sweet story…
One of our grandsons, Jack, told us when he was here for a weekend and we were pumping him for info, that he offered to be a living donor for Brian before he realized his was not an appropriate blood type. That came from his heart, and I am sure he thought very hard about it. I was so overcome, sis, I couldn’t speak for a few minutes. Trying to not burst into tears when he told us was almost impossible. That’s the sort of young man he has grown to be. (Sniff)…

I stumbled upon these thoughtful words which I felt I needed to share. They are meant for those of us of a certain age, but I think they are as important for those younger to reflect upon.
Blessings to all on this earthly road we travel together and which are never-ending, even as we cannot yet see them coming 🙏🏻

I feel like that child who won a packet of sweets; he ate the first few with pleasure, but when he realized that there were few left, he began to enjoy them intensely.
I no longer have time for endless meetings where statutes, rules, procedures, and internal regulations are discussed, knowing that nothing will be achieved.
I no longer have time to support the absurd people who, despite their chronological age, haven’t grown up.

Beautiful tree, Bets. There is something so restful about trees in autumn, especially when a solitary leaf drifts soundlessly to the ground. (Then a burro sidles up and eats it – they love them!)
My drive in Wales from my tiny village to the small town (6 miles) where I worked was split.
The first half was a straight line through deeply treed hills before the second half which became a winding descending bending road, a quiet drive, that finished in a busy bustling Llangollen.
When autumn arrived and on the final stretch of that straight part, I was looking at the evergreen hills, but there was wide and winding ribbon of them directly in my line of vision which turned rich, golden ochre. As if God had added it as a last touch, a final and defining flourish to His creation.
And it was at that point, every day, I made a special deliberate note to be grateful that for some reason He decided to plant me there, realizing my great good fortune and determined to imprint permanently in my memory what I was seeing. When I think of the seasons which came and went during my twenty years, it is always Autumn and that golden ribbon amongst the deep, almost black greens which comes to mind.

I had supper round at Grannies
Caviar and small quails eggs,
Then we had a real strange chicken
For I counted three whole legs;
Then I had a bowl of trifle
It was really really small
I left some room for chock – o – late
As I was not full at all.
Then I helped granny make a cake
She gave me a glazed cherry,
She said Grandad had a sweet tooth
Whilst she preferred the sherry;
How can you tell which tooth is sweet
She suggested I ask you,
Its not too hard to tell which one
When you’re only left with two.
The world can be a puzzling place
When you are only seven,
So many questions to be asked

In a larger context, I’ve begun telling people I encounter that I hope they have a blessed day. The response I’ve been getting is, for me anyway, remarkable. When I greet people in this way, my responses, sometimes showing a little surprise, are always positive. People enjoy having a total stranger wish them a blessed day. Necessary in dead reckoning land navigation to account for declination and thus convert magnetic North (as shown on the compass) to Grid north as shown on the map.
Every military topographic map has a declination diagram on it, usually shown at the right bottom. Other important info is also show at the bottom such as scale etc.
BTW grid north is not the same thing as true (geographic north) and this 5 minute video shows why.
So if declination left the add to get grid north. If declination is right the subtract to get grid north. It is opposite if your navigating in the southern hemisphere. Then it’s RALS.

Biography: Robert Hofstadter was an American physicist best known for his research on electron scattering in atomic nuclei that provided important insights into the structure of protons and neutrons. This work earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1961, which he shared with Rudolf Mössbauer.
Hofstadter was born in 1915 in New York City to a Jewish family of Polish immigrants. He excelled academically from a young age, graduating magna cum laude from City College of New York at just 20 years old. He then earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from Princeton University by the age of 23.
After completing his education, Hofstadter worked as a researcher at the University of Pennsylvania and taught at Princeton. In 1950, he joined the faculty at Stanford University, where he would remain until 1985. During his time at Stanford, he continued his research in nuclear physics.
In addition to his Nobel Prize-winning work, Hofstadter made other notable contributions to science. In 1948, he patented the thallium-activated sodium iodide gamma ray detector, which became a widely used tool in gamma ray detection. WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
