Blanche and Bove are both alumni of the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office, where Blanche was co-chief of the violent crimes unit. Bove was co-chief of the Manhattan USAO national security unit. Look for Bove to take over DOJ-NSD when all confirmations are settled.
Todd Blanche is a serious, stable and likeable blue-collar guy. He advanced himself to the most prestigious federal prosecutor’s office in the country by attending night classes at Brooklyn Law School while working during the day as a paralegal.

Unless I am wrong, a Deputy AG, prior to confirmation of AG, can act with all the powers of an AG. This means that if you put a bulldog in that position who is an equal threat to what the AG would be, you put massive pressure on the Senate to confirm your AG choice.
Remember when John Ratcliffe was up for confirmation as DNI during Trumps first term, and Senate was dragging it’s feet. Trump named Rick Grenell as acting Director of National Intelligence, and shortly after Ratcliffe was confirmed by Senate. Trump put someone in acting spot that scared them worse than the person they were afraid to confirm. Grenell had all the powers as acting DNI that Ratcliffe had, and it scared the (human excrement) out of them.

The DNI becomes much more important than the CIA Director, NSA Director, FBI Director, Attorney General, etc, because the DNI can just show up and say, “give me this.” That’s the whole functional purpose of the DNI office that has never been exerted; let’s flippin’ use it.
Let’s use the office of the DNI as the central information hub that takes information from inside the corrupt silos, then provides that information to the President who puts sunlight upon it.
Each corrupt silo penetrated with disinfectant. This could begin a process to pull down the shadow operations and let the American public see what has been happening inside our IC apparatus.
To accomplish this approach the National Security Advisor to the President (NSA), in this scenario, Mike Waltz, would be the person who tells the DNI exactly what they are looking for.
How does NSA Mike Waltz know what to look for? Because the National Security Advisor is the head of the National Security Council (NSC).
Now you see why I say put the strategic and scruffy people like Mike Flynn, Kash Patel, etc in a stripped down NSC.
Let the NSC monitor the silos with specific intent, then provide Trump’s NatSec Advisor Mike Waltz with details on what appears to be happening and where. With the approval of the President, the NSA Waltz then turns to DNI Gabbard and says, “POTUS wants this, go get this.”
Raw, unfiltered, unredacted information. The silo administrators end up in a fight with the DNI Gabbard, not the office of President Trump. President Trump then uses the power of his office to support the demands of DNI Gabbard.

If the deep state individuals tasks with providing the requested material to the DNI refuse, what happens?
Is there a legal enforcement authority within the DNI? Do they have their own ability to arrest and prosecute? If not, who does?

The DNI is, essentially, a coordination and deconfliction layer of bureaucracy on top of the individual IC members agencies.
The plan above is based on quite a few assumptions that are not likely realistic.
Sundance’s suggestions for gaining access to anything, anywhere in the IC sounds like a good plan.
I think there are a few misunderstandings of the bureaucracy that will likely make it a non-starter.
First, the National Security Advisor is NOT an all-powerful position controlling other silos. It is an ADVISOR to the President–that is, it controls what info and advice gets to the President. Lots of power in that. It can suggest/request/require various agencies to collect/analyze intel for the President. And it can liaise with the DNI, or any other government entity. But it does not control them.
Second, the DNI. It is an additional layer of bureaucracy on top of the IC member’s already thick bureaucracies. While, theoretically, the DNI could command any agency to do something, the classification and operational control system can shut down such a demand, or make it crawl at a snail’s pace. From “Need to Know” to “Special Compartmented Information,” “Sources and Methods,” and other sacred IC shibboleths, there are many dead ends such a demand could end up in.
Signals intelligence (NSA) and human intelligence (CIA) both have extremely tight control on both the information/intel they produce, and on their sources and methods. These controls can be used to shut down any fishing expedition.
Not saying that it cannot be done, but the bureaucracy is designed to keep the crown jewels only accessible to anointed high priests of the Deep State.
It would be easier, and more effective, to simply wipe the slate clean, and start over.
The IC is based on Executive Orders–from its existence, to its missions. Best approach would be to EO it out of existence, and simultaneously EO a better replacement.
