Obvious isn’t it to an observant logically inclined individual? Almost 80% of the popular vote went to President Trump in a real election.
From the 30K foot view only 22% of Americans polled in May 2024 believed the country was heading in the right direction.

I personally have never been in favor of “recess appointments.” Strange as it might seem to some, I want the process to be difficult. I know that “we have a popular mandate,” and want to change everything “instantly.” But that’s something that very often does not lead to a sustainable nor desirable outcome. It just doesn’t turn out the way you assumed it would . . .
I think that there should continue to be “checks.” It should still be necessary to obtain consensus, including (especially!) among people who don’t automatically agree with you. I think that the Senate should be involved – “frustrating” though that might be to some. You ought to be able to convince and persuade “fifty-one people,” and I think that you should have to. “That’s their job. Their role.”

I will be blunt: “no ‘recess appointments.'” The Senate should convene and have its say. If some of those one hundred people have objections, those objections should be heard.
I do not think that this is simply a “red versus blue” thing. The people in these positions will wield considerable power. The “Senate confirmation” process is built to check and test that power before it is granted. I want that process to take place.
And, if I subsequently curse “that stupid jackass Senator” for making a decision that I didn’t agree with … well, that is my right! 🤡 (And likewise, his or hers.)

I agree that recess appointments should NOT be the initial or primary action to get anyone confirmed.
I agree that the regular process needs to go forward.
HOWEVER: if the Senate refuses to even take up and vote on a nominee….or tne Senate votes down nominee after nominee because they don’t like them…..THEN the President not only has the right, but the DUTY to make recess appointments in order to govern the way he was elected.
Note: lost in the discussion is that a recess appointment is not permanent. They only last until the end of any Congressional session, so AT MOST just 2 years if done right away.

Wrong! The US Senate is no longer a constitutional body as the framers intended. The 17th amendment broke the checks and balances and removes each states influence in the Senate.
