Believe it or not, I used to cut the grass at Arnies condo, if you could really call a mansion a condo, as a young man.
I trimmed his Crape Myrtle trees the way I was taught, as he was milling around in his golf cart garage/Pro Shop Bat Cave. He came storming out of the garage to yell at me for trimming his tree the wrong way when one of the mow crew shot thatch all over the front of his Cadillac with a thick jet of freshly cut St. Augustine grass, sticky from morning dew and a trip around the greased spindles under the cutting deck.
With his furious stare directed elsewhere I grabbed my snips, loppers and trash bucket and hightailed it around the corner of his building and started handpulling weeds in annual beds. I could hear him yelling at the mow crew and supervisor from my hideout.
From that day on I avoided that end of the property if the Bat Cave was open..All the service folks knew Arnie could be a real d!ck.
Called “Crepe Murder” if that’s what you did. Trimmed to produce bigger blooms but actually bad for the trees health. Causes tree to put out less shade and bring on fungal growth on branches that eventually kill the tree. Sounds like a poorly trained crew? Halloween’s been wrecked around me. People come from other areas to my suburb because it presumed safe and affluent, and so the handouts are supposedly more generous.
Half the time nobody says trick or treat or thank you. Years ago my mother had to explain to a Hispanic mother the candy is for the kids. The mother didn’t have a costume but just held out an open pillow case. 90% of the people that ring my doorbell don’t live in my community. Sad.

*My wife passes out the candy before I get home. I’ll turn off the porch light when I get home. It’s become a Satanic celebration. No more Great Pumpkin. Go to church and visit a cemetery on All Saints Day and all Souls Day- Nov. 1 & 2. Pray.
I have passed out candy twice in my 47 years of adulthood. I have noticed that the very young children are out early. Then come the younger school aged children. Those two groups are cute.
After that, I closed the door and turned out the lights because the teenagers and young adults would prowl the neighborhood.
We have 6 children on our cue de sac and I’ve prepared 6 ziploc bags of candy for each that I will hand out early.
We will have our light off that night.
Of the kids who come to our door…probably 25% local and 75% Hispanic…
The Hispanic kids are driven to our area by their parents, dress up and make an effort (more so than the local kids) plus they would rather T&T in a safe neighborhood with good candy as opposed to where they live. Plus they have manners and always say thank You.

No groups can be painted with a broad brush, and I sympathize with the safe neighborhood concept, but you can take a walk and observe the vehicle stickers on the parked cars from nearby suburbs that are in no way unsafe. And no, they are not more likely to have a costume or good manners and many parents are holding out bags as well. They are not all gimmedats, but a lot them are. I used to have a neighbor who was deputy and enforced a “no costume- no candy rule.”
My sister worked for Hershey as a rep. and often passed out king sized candy bars. The kids loved it.

2 reasons to vote early on a machine, not a mail in ballot. The party if you’re in one will not waste money in reminding you to vote with calls and mailers. Something unplanned could happen on election day-a snafu with the local voting system or in your person life on that day. Vote early.
If you are in a state with mail in ballots, voting early preserves your vote in that someone cannot fraudulently vote for you. In 2020 there were many voters that went to vote in-person who discovered they had already voted. They were able to submit a provisional ballot, but those often don’t get counted. I believe this is one way we had more votes than registered voters in 2020.

I have gotten to know my local Republican town committee in a similar place, blueMA. They are almost entirely MAGA, but even if there are a couple who may not be, the ones I’ve met who are local election officers are.
When I voted early, one of them was greeting at the gym where the vote was held.
I have no concern that my early ballot will be handled properly in this town. They will keep a weather eye on what their opponents do.
If you are in a big CT city, the story could be different.
But if you are in a town, visiting and getting involved with the local R organizations, whether town or county based, is highly recommended.

Bottom line – you are not alone, even in a blue state!
The idea is to have your named taken off the list of “not yet voted” as soon as possible. That way they can’t steal you off of the list before election day and then tell you you’ve already voted. It also helps make sure that life situations don’t come up on election day preventing you from voting. The counter argument is that they know how many votes they need to overcome early, when they still have time to round up ballots. Imagine an election where one candidate has 30 election days, and the other has one. Who do you think will win?
When you vote early the campaign folks take your name off the list, and focus on getting out the low propensity voters. You also get less mail and phone calls.

After listening to Tim Walz brag about how he is such a skilled shooter, I decided to look if he was an Expert Marksman in the military. It turns out he doesn’t even have a marksmanship badge at all or authorized to wear one, but wore one on his Class A uniform anyway.
In the Army or National Guard soldiers are required to qualify with their M-4 rifle or M-16. The qualification course is made up of 40 targets ranging from 50 meters-300 meters popping up randomly. You are given 2- 20 rd [round] magazines totaling 40 rds. Soldiers are required to qualify once a year to keep their current status.
Marksman- Hit 23-29 out of 40.
Sharpshooter- Hit 30-35 out of 40.
Expert- Hit 36-40 out of 40. ( not easy)
Its no surprise Tim Walz decided to pick the Expert Marksmanship badge since its not easy to get. See the pics below, I used my own DD 214 to show you what its suppose to look like if you are authorized to wear one. See how Tim Walz awards are listed but it does not have any marksmanship badges awarded? Then it says nothing follows, that means he doesn’t have a continuation on awards to a new block ( for more room) like mine does. NGB22 should mirror the DD214 so it should look like mine. I find it extremely disrespectful to soldiers who actually earned their awards.

Today I cast my vote in the upcoming federal and state elections. As I prepared for voting, I reflected on everything that we have had to endure over the past nearly 4 years and many things came to mind of what the current Biden/Harris administration has wrought:
-The exit from Afghanistan and how 13 of our finest marines were needlessly killed along with the maiming of other soldiers, Americans and innocent Afghan people that trusted our government to protect them from the Taliban.
-The ruining of our country’s energy resource sovereignty in the name of a climate change hoax that is cyclical weather change being blamed on mankind as a total power grab.
-Allowing millions of illegal and unvetted immigrants into our country contributing to drug deaths and addictions from fentanyl and opioids, leaving families, friends and relationships in the wake of the wreckage. Not to mention bringing a toxic environment to our country that has ruined community stability with crime, sex trafficking, child abuse and misery.
-Destroying one of the world’s most stable and thriving economies from massive inflation due to huge cost increases in ALL sectors: food, energy, housing, insurance, health costs and the list is endless-all because of poor decisions and wasteful spending that has contributed to massive government indebtedness dumped on the backs of American taxpayers. Allowing federal funds to be used to house illegal immigrants in luxury accommodations with prepaid debit cards and free everything-only to tell those American citizen victims of natural disasters that there isn’t enough money available to help them.
-Allowing men to dangerously and unfairly compete in girls’ sports and mutilating the bodies of children in the name of gender transitioning without the consent of their parents
-Endless war in Ukraine requiring massive financial aid with zero attempt to reach a negotiated settlement.
-Telling Israel they need to stop their fighting, despite having had the worst terrorist action against their country since the Holocaust with hundreds brutally murdered, raped, tortured and taken hostage combined with thousands of rockets being launched against their country. I question if we can even take care of ourselves, let alone tell them how to fight their war.
-Becoming the dumping ground for the world’s worst criminals and watching our country’s crime rate skyrocket while working to defund and block those that protect us.
-Wanting to grant citizenship to those that have entered our country illegally with the administrations’ blessings-with the ultimate goal of removing the opposing party and seizing control of perpetual power.
What has become of our country that we would accept this? Why would we vote to put Harris/Walz and their minions in charge of running America when we know they will absolutely run it straight into the ground? Vote like your lives depend on the outcome because they do.
My first vote was for Reagan in ’80 so I’ve seen a couple things in my years.
There is only one election that carries eternal consequences, that being the election to accept the free gift of eternal salvation through faith in the finished work of the Cross {the death, burial and resurrection of Christ for the forgiveness of sin}.
Once one has made that choice, the rest is easy in comparison.

The black students in my class were really smart and did not need any extra help, and furthermore, if the intent was to help students in their first year not drop out, it should have been open for all as it was a state university funded with taxpayer dollars.

In the mid 2000’s a good buddy of mine shot a spot with The Donald, and he raved about how nice and accommodating he was. It was surprising to me at the time, because in NYC he was known as a total bastard with business deals. And based on his Playboy personality, you might expect him to be a total douche IRL. Not so, said my friend.
Then, in 2009 I was on a long business trip w/ a different friend of mine, who had worked with Trump on a different ad campaign, and he said the exact same thing: that Trump was surprisingly cool. Again, I was a bit surprised. So I asked him to give me the deets.
And this is the story he told me:
His team was booked to film Trump for one spot in a larger national campaign, and they had arranged to go to Trump Tower for a very tight window of time to film. Trump had gotten the script beforehand, too but non-actor celebrities are notoriously bad at doing their homework. Although it wasn’t a complicated production, the team was nervous.
So they all went to Trump tower, pre-set up all the cameras, lights and equipment. But Trump was a few minutes late! They were very worried that they wouldn’t have enough time to properly film him. Eventually, about 20 minutes past start time there was a huge flurry of activity as Trump emerged from the elevator. But instead of being harried and curt, he was upset at himself, and extremely apologetic about being late. Of course the team said “Oh, it’s okay” etc, but Trump was insistent. He explained he was at a big deal that had gone long (because of some other asshole), and that he understood how valuable everyone’s time was for this. And he promised to make it up to them.
Everyone was pleasantly surprised by his demeanor, and he announced to his team that he would be taking “as much time as needed” to make things right, and he xnsrudted them to push everything else in his afternoon schedule. He then proceeded to NAIL the script (because, surprisingly, he had actually practiced it), and when the director and team told him “Thanks Mr. Trump, we think we got it!” he said “Nah, we can do better!” and proceeded to do several more takes over the next hour, with ad libs and wild lines. My buddy said he was absolutely hilarious, game for anything fun, and everyone had a blast.
Then, after they had gotten all the takes they could thank of, he starts walking around the room glad handing and talking with every single one of them, person-to-person, for minutes at a time. This was way before he was even considering running for president, so this wasn’t political. It was just… him.
The last point my buddy made about this was that after Trump had met all the bigwig clients, important agency people, the director and the crew, he made a point to go over and talk to the craft service guy: the lowest dude on the production totem pole, sitting there with his basket of kind bars and various gums and mints. And Trump had a super long conversation with the guy about his life, his family, and his hopes and dreams. Trump gave the kid some life advice, and then thanked everyone, apologized for being late (again), and exited the room.

Don’t know what they did to the meat…especially McDonalds …but it is very grainy and rubbery. Also ruined the BK original chicken sandwich maybe a different supplier but coating is different.. An example of cutting cost..BK use to order buns fresh everyday ..now weekly and they freeze until use. Makes the top of the bun flake and crack. Through family, my experience with fast food is up close and personal for 35 years.

I went to the grocery store and bought enough food for the week. Ground beef, butter, eggs, and bacon. It came to $164 dollars. I make $1200 on Social Security as I don’t qualify for food stamps (nor do I want to.) So it costs me a little over $600 a month for food. Ain’t that something?

I won’t knowingly participate in word games even when I am supposedly the beneficiary.
I do believe that is why both Joan and I don’t want to do food stamps or anything related.
As many on here know my widowed mother supported 3 children in the 50s when there wasn’t any type of governmental supplements. If families didn’t have enough money they either went without or the parents got a second job and even third job.–sometime siblings worked too at part time work.
Kin, I was raised in that era, too. Times were hard, but we made it without the government.

I can sympathize Joan…. My husband and I are on social security but he still has to run his small business because of COL. Our food bill runs for 2, over $800 a month. But I still eat steak when I want to and buy whole foods which are expensive. If your abode isn’t paid for you are in a real pickle if retired. Of course Trumps no tax on SS is a help to some who make over the $25000 limit which is already tax free but most do not make over that. It would further help if those retired paid no tax on savings. Also Give those on SS the food assistance if they need it..They caused the problem with food cost. It is also ironic that many young still working pay 0 under Obamacare while the old pay $174 a month for medicare. I do not want our seniors to suffer until this crisis is fixed.

But Trump also had an interesting interaction at a barbershop in the Bronx at the end of last week with Fox’s Lawrence Jones. While some clips leaked before now, Fox ran the spot Monday morning. Once again it showed how comfortable he was, just sitting there, talking with people and taking questions that were important to them.

Rodriguez is a registered Democrat, but he voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020, and said he would be making his decision when he went to vote. His father who used to be the owner, Javier Rodriguez Sr., was also a registered Democrat and he said he would be voting for Trump again.

As noted, Rodriguez said his energy bill had gone from $2100 to $15,000. How is that possibly sustainable? You could see how that really hit Trump. He said one of the main things to help bring prices down was dealing with energy — “Drill baby, drill!” — and he wanted to cut present energy bills like this in half.
