UPDATE: We will continue bumping this thread to keep the communication lines available.
...”I live in the Western part of the US; reading these comments is like listening in on a (telephone) party line. This is the first I’ve heard firsthand live reports from the people directly affected. For the first time there is no canned, approved spoon fed mis-information delivered by the faceless and unaffected paid to be there.”….
Which is exactly the reason we keep this thread going!
As the areas in Eastern Tennessee, Western North Carolina and the Western gulf coast of Florida continue recovery operations from Hurricanes Helene and Milton, our thoughts are with those who are still impacted and dealing with the long-term recovery process.
If you have stability and the ability to communicate, we are wondering how you guys are doing.

Working with several ground groups, we have sent toolboxes and resources into the area for the arduous tasks that remain. There are many who feel overwhelmed; just know our thoughts and deepest prayers remain with you. It will get a little better every day.
Resourceful teams (mostly electrical restoration experts) who learned quickly after they helped the Puerto Rico Mountain areas in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria are doing amazing work reaching some of the more isolated areas. These are good friends with a git-r-done approach.
Eastern Tennessee power has mostly returned; however, approximately 23,500 of the 1.5 million customers that lost power, just in the Western North Carolina area still lack electricity as of today, according to Poweroutage.us. Additionally, there are still about 365,000 Floridians without power.
The power restoration in the dense mountain forests of WNC is slow going, some roads and bridges are completely washed away. According to the Associated Press report, “The crews aren’t doing what they typically do, which is a repair effort. They’re rebuilding from the ground up,” said Kristie Aldridge, vice president of communications at North Carolina Electric Cooperatives {link}.
There are widespread rumors and disparate reports of the overall death toll, at last count was well over 200. Anecdotal reports from people in the WNC region put the death toll much higher but are difficult to confirm. We do not want to spread rumors, yet we simultaneously accept this close to the election there is an unfortunate incentive for both federal and state emergency management officials to keep the death toll numbers hidden.
The bottom line is a concern for everyone in the impact areas. Therefore, ground reports are the most valuable. How are y’all doing?
Dear God of grace and strength, in the midst of uncertainty, fear and change we turn to You for stability and strength. Please grant us the wisdom and fortitude to navigate the unknown, the courage to face challenges, and the faith to trust Your divine plan.
Heavenly Father, let Your unwavering presence be our anchor in the aftermath of these storms. Grant us the resilience to face the challenges of recovery with grace and hearts filled with purpose. May we continue to find, patience, stability and fellowship in Your eternal love.
Thank You for guiding us through these uncertain times. In Jesus blessed and loving name we pray. ~ Amen.

The water is back on to the far reaches of the hills now.
We are still under a boil requirement, as the river is still very unclean and the pump station is running at limited capacity. At least it’s running.
Three main bridges across the Nolichuckey were completely destroyed; estimates are June 2025 to rebuild. Getting around is very tricky for a lot of residents.
Incredible people from all over the country have poured into our little towns and hollers bringing supplies, and the most amazing willingness to help. Doesn’t matter the task. It’s been amazing to see.
A lot of churches are helping people find shelter, they’re providing donated household goods and clothing. A debris dump site is finally being readied so more cleanup can get underway.
My only issue is the under-reporting of people who perished. They are still littered about in some of the more desolate areas along the disaster zone. Workers I speak to daily tell stories of what they see in the twisted piles of wreckage.
It’s haunting.
Not a soul I’ve encountered has mentioned state or federal assistance. They are figuring it out with friends, family and unbelievably generous strangers.
No reports of looting; not surprising as pretty much everyone in these parts carries at all times. The Sheriff’s Dept is on point too. They aren’t tolerating any messing around.
God is indeed among our people right now in this time of trouble.
Any grain of trust in government is not just strained, it has evaporated.
Alleycats…your description of “its haunting”…will stay with me….As will the “people from all over”….that’s the America we all know and love. May your and all yours continue to be strong.
Thank you Aggiegirl. We are blessed here in America.
I will never let someone tell me otherwise.
You are welcome…hugs and prayers along the way…
Someone who works for one of our local hospitals here said that one of the companies that produces IVs in the Helene area has around 300 of their employees still missing. I made her clarify it, and yes it was around 300 of their employees are missing.
This means a possible shortage of medical supplies.
Oh wow. I hadn’t heard that. A local elementary school has 136 students unaccounted for at this time.
No legacy media is telling a shred of truth about this disaster.
when you look at all the devastation, along with many not being able to get into many areas of the areas, it could be.
I’m betting that the toll is probably at least a thousand.
I have been a follower of the good and righteous Nurse Claire for years. She is anti big Pharma and corporate medicine. She’s a compassionate and skilled medical practioner.
We haven’t been told any truth about what has happened on the ground in Western NC. This report is from a nurse anesthetist who is a friend of Claire currently on the ground there. You thought our government is evil? You can’t comprehend the depth. If you want clear vision go to the article Prayer Request.

The situation in North Carolina is extremely dire. I’ve seen the TikTok videos and tweets on X painting an apocalyptic picture. But it can sometimes be difficult to discern the real story vs Internet sensationalism. Since COVID, I’ve tried to not drawn any conclusions other than what I perceive with my own senses or hear directly from trusted colleagues & friends.
At any rate, I expected a few thousand to be dead in western NC, but in speaking with a friend last night, I realized that I had really low-balled the number.
Backstory: my friend is also a nurse anesthetist. She resides in Florida but is doing a “travel assignment” at a hospital in North Carolina (she started there before Helene hit). The following is what she has told me:
“Other CRNAs have been involved in the plane program, flying in shipments from private organizations to drop zones in the mountains. They fly to different bases, some in NC, some in Tennessee, even to a jail!… to pick up supplies then are flying them directly to the remote areas. Plane only can hold 1800lb of supplies. So they make 5 trips in 9 hours…each day. They drop off epi, insulin, meds, food, water, etc. they said the people flock to the plane like a third world country. Thousands are still stuck there with no way out, impoverished people with medical needs, no heat (it’s getting cold at night), no electricity, etc. no FEMA there. One PACU nurse’s husband went on the ground there to help. She said he came back in a state like she’s never seen. Dead babies in trees, hanging in branches, bodies everywhere, but the people in trees, no one can get to. There’s no ladder tall enough. He is traumatized. My coworkers whose husbands work for fire rescue in NC said the body count for the flooding is 13,000 or more. Not 250.”
My concern now is disease outbreak in the coming weeks without accessibility to clean water. Please pray for these suffering souls.
Wow, unreal! And the media will be working overtime to stamp out the truth, rather than to call out the incompetence as they should.
might want to link up with the psychiatrist on the later post who is trying to help and seems to be familiar with this kind of trauma.
That would be me! I am EAGERLY seeking an opportunity to serve. The NC Board of Medicine website shows my application is still ‘under review’ as they are awaiting info from the National Practitioner Data Bank as well as the ‘Federation of State Medical Boards’, neither of which has responded. This is absolutely absurd, I cannot imagine why they cannot QUICKLY simply send their brief reports electronically to the NC Med Board.
I have decided I will probably go up in a week whether or not this has gone through. I can provide ‘informal counseling’ and support as needed. No formal ‘evaluation & treatment’ but early on, that is rarely an issue. The point is to provide needed emotional support, encourage HEALTHY behavior. For example: avoid alcohol & ‘recreational’ substances; stay off of social media (increased exposure to video & reports further traumatizes people; this has been seen across various disasters, even a study on NYC people who had symptoms increased by watching a ‘911 Anniversary Program.’
People need hope & encouragement, they need to feel some sense of control, that they CAN have some effect on their own lives. This is where the amazing support is already helping people. By showing up & doing the hard work, this not only improves the ‘physical life essentials’ status of people, but ALSO fosters a sense of connection & hope. HOPE is CRUCIAL!
They don’t tell the truth in other areas why would you assume they’d tell the truth about this.
is it Baxter Health? If so, yes, correct Duke is having to take stringent measures to conserve.
Baxter gave my childhood best friend Hepatitis C from a dirty blood product in 1992 called Gamma Guard. The product was made for hemophilia, the doctors gave him the serum to try and trick his sluggish immune system to produce more T Cells. It didn’t work as planned.
Yes I heard that early on.
Just now reading about this Kinthen NW Very sorry to hear that! Praying that the missing will be found to be ok.
The medical supplies as well but first of all, the 300 lives that are missing. May they be found to be OK. In Jesus Mighty Name.
Your story is terrifying, unbelievable sad and amazingly hopeful. We have been and will continue to pray. Can you post this on X so it can reach more people?
I’m not on X.
And justifiably so.
Be safe we pray for you and yours Alleycats and all around you affected by this tragedy! Most folks in every state are aware of all of your plights and we are IN EVERY STATE PRAYING FOR YOU. Sending help however we can.
Thank you Wolvybat. The outpouring of love, fervent prayers, generosity and assistance is appreciated beyond mere words. The response from everyday Americans has been incredible.
The stories need to be told and repeated for the history books.
We can never again find ourselves at the mercy of malevolent forces in our own government.
I agree. It is shameful that NC still claims it doesn’t know how many are missing much less stating truthful numbers of those who perished.
Be careful and aware of how the state is wording things. NC government is talking about “VERIFIED” deaths. Absolutely verified and admitted to deaths are likely to be much lower than the numberof people who have perished due to Helene. The state should be including all deaths.
At least now, it appears that some of the media may be starting to see the problem with no count of the missing. Below is a link from a news station in the area trying to explain the problem away. The problem must be getting enough outcry that the news can’t completely cover it up anymore.
https://wlos.com/news/local/worry-grows-as-multiple-agencies-struggle-to-tally-unaccounted-individuals-after-storm#
“Verified” deaths is the term we are hearing on local media here in central NC. We’re not in the damage area. We are getting stories outside of the “media” with details like bodies in the rubble.
Also, the story about truck loads of militia proves false. One guy. https://www.wxii12.com/article/north-carolina-man-arrested-fema-helene-security-threats/62599223 HT WXII
No surprise that the “militia” story was false. Left-wing fear porn, nothing more than that.
You can’t hide 13,000 dead people forever.
No, but they are hoping that other, more recent, news will soften the impact when it finally does trickle out.
With only a few weeks to the election, they might be too busy harvesting ballots for all those missing and displaced to be of much help to the survivors.
They have hidden the deaths of Maui.
always look at the words
I recall during the covid scam
when reading the government mandate
for hospitals, etc.
“confirmed and probable” covid diagnosis
got them their government monies
Same here in the Asheville area regarding the under-reporting of deaths. I believe our death toll will surpass 1000 and perhaps even 2000.
Regarding the response, here’s General Flynn on the lack of it from the feds >
Gen. Mike Flynn presents a very powerful argument for getting the US Army (not Nat’l Guard) involved, a full brigade at minimum from Ft. Bragg & elsewhere because of the extreme conditions, approaching winter, complex and large logistical needs, large and applicable heavy equipment needs, and experienced command structure with this environment.
The video is well worth watching.

Mark Honeycutt is doing amazing work. Former Blackhawk pilot. Here is one of his videos from the air. When he videoed the lady in the first link you put up I lost it.
Beat me to it! I’ve been watching Mark’s videos of the places just to the east of me (I’m in Flat Rock, NC) that I know I can’t get to and shouldn’t try to reach. I’d just be in the way of those who have the experience and equipment to handle this level of destruction . The rest of us can only donate and volunteer at the support distribution centers.
While ago one of the weather reports said potential for snow tomorrow in western Appalachia. I hope not. When the mud freezes up it is going to be very challenging to clean up along w/everything else being frozen. I feel for the survivors, volunteers, and workers up in the mountains. Main thing is we don’t forget about any of the people in all these storms.
It won’t be long before the gawkers start rolling in, no doubt some are already there. They should have to pay a fee to give back to the community for driving around to look. If you aren’t volunteering or a survivor you don’t belong there is how I see it. People have been traumatized enough w/out feeling like they are in a zoo.
Everything went to hell once ron! thwarted the HOAs..

Southern Slope Polk County NC: Power has been mostly restored since new poles arrived about 5 days ago. The Ontario Canada power crews quickly set the poles and reset new wire. Cell and Land Line phone service is an Off/On situation but improving. Internet over cell and some fiber has become dependable. City water in our area is restored. Support resources from all over the country by private companies and individuals are abundant. Major tree cutting and debris removal is an ongoing needed service. Local private tree companies are still doing most of the work except in power line areas where the Canadian crews get the job done! Lot’s of talk about FEMA going to help in filing claims but little action. Mud damage is now treated by Insurance as water and is not covered. New Insurance rate hikes up to 46% are going to NC insurance commission for action. We are now defending our Trump signs with field cameras. We will vote this year even if it is over fallen tree debris.
“We are now defending our Trump signs with field cameras. We will vote this year even if it is over fallen tree debris.”
Inspiring! God Bless You!
What I would like to know is how did the National weather Service miss so badly on their forecast? When we to sleep that night we were expecting some gusty winds and a bit of rain but not a 1 in 1,000 or 5,000 year flood event???!!!
How did they get this so wrong.
Libertybella, If it is anything like here in Australia – our ‘Bunch of Morons’ (Bureau of Meteorology) aka Weather Bureau relies upon “models”, hence the often wild imaginings or, conversely, poor prognostications.
These models are no doubt using “official” data – but that data is so poor for many areas it is little wonder that forecasts are so deficient for many areas of the country.
They have windows in their office building – the blinds are never drawn – they can’t see what is happening outside – AND they are thousands of kilometres from where the action is.
Most of their prognostications are centred upon the large population centres – once outside those areas it becomes a guessing game (we see the same for Cyclones, here on the east coast of Queensland).
We have lost our human ‘Observers’ – the men and women scattered around the country that once delivered the meteorological reports – reliance these days is upon electronic devices that are handy (but not as good as the human eye and brain, combined with many decades of experience).
Primarily, radars et al are predicated upon safety of air traffic – less so upon actual weather events, which appears (to me) to be but a by-product of their function [but I may be wrong].
Burnsville and Spruce Pine areas where I have been working got 30 inches of rain according to folks at church.
Here in western NC, I, too thought it would be just another day of heavy rain and some gusty winds. What I failed to take into account was that, prior to Helene even making its Florida landfall, we had three days and nights of steady rain. Had I been out and about during those days I would have seen that all the low-lying parts of town were already flooding.
My local weatherman in SE Mississippi talked about how Hurricane Helene was going to be really bad for NC & Tennessee, if Helene went that way, because the ground was already soaked from earlier heavy rains. This was forecasted before Helene even came ashore.
Sorry to “the other Linda”, I forgot to type in my last name. I’m not trying to steal your user name. I’ll do better tomorrow, LOL.
I checked the forecast before the storm. No mention of 1 on 1,000 year floods that I recall
That’s what my local Mississippi weatherman was reporting.
From the article on Sept 25, 2024: According to National Hurricane Center, catastrophic & life-threatening flash & urban flooding, including numerous significant landslides, is expected across portions of the southern Appalachians through Friday.
The map of “Greatest Flash Flood Risk over the Next 3 Days” highlights WNC & ETN in red(40%) & purple(70%). In the previous day forecast the rain totals in that area was for 8-12 inches of rain.
Yes…a LOT of people do NOT understand that THIRTY INCHES of rain fell on the Blue Ridge BEFORE Helene came to town…
Thank you Sundance and crew, once again, for your incredible efforts in this crisis.
From reaching out to arrange comms, to organizing the earliest helicopter flights. Your heartfelt prayers reached us across the miles and gave us inspiration and hope.
God Bless this magnificent Treehouse in its entirety. The finest refuge one could hope for.

Sarasota, FLA. Power came back yesterday afternoon. Couldn’t help but do the Snoopy dance around the place.
Roof intact. Home OK, but for 3 1/2 days was on a slow burn. Dark imaginings indeed.
Somewhere along the way, I’ve turned into a cranky old fart. But on the positive side, I talked to more neighbors in
the last 4 days than the last acouple of years. Had the eye go over us just as I was on the roof dressed as Gandalf
screaming “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!” 15 mins later the power went out.
Overall, cleanup & repair crews were fast, professional, no nonsense.
People were helpful, considerate, calm.

No more clothes or blankets to Newport or Greenville TN please – they are full up, but very grateful.
Samaritan’s Purse in Boone is also at the “We just only need volunteers to cut trees, move mud, and restore homes, no more in kind donations” stage.
Hold onto what you can that is non-perishable and use it next time.
Bradenton/Lakewood ranch. Power restored 26 hr post storm.
Helping those less fortunate. Areas of massive tree destruction in Bradenton woods development. Elderly trailer parks in Ellenton destroyed. So much more. Power and gas a major concern for a lot of people. The weather is still warm but its wonderful to see Gods mighty hand.. One miracle at a time.
If possible, please see And We Know on Rumble the 13:50 minute mark…2 short videos posted describing some very difficult things…
😭. Oh, Lord, would you intervene for these people? Help us to know how we can help!
RT, does this require a subscription? I couldn’t get to it. Sorry. Lots of stuff on the page. Confusing. Can you provide a link?
A friend that lives near Ashland said a funeral director came to their store that has wifi and said there are refer trailers with bodies that they can’t get rid of through embalming or cremation due to no water or power, which both are needed to accomplish the former. This person said there are 1000 bodies that are in these storage areas and most can’t be id’d.
Would it be the state government that would mobilize some kind of assistance for this situation? The media isn’t talking about it, but surely the Governor knows? Is this NC? Cooper?
Gov. Cooper (Dem.) has been WORTHLESS.
Makes me realize just how lucky we are in Florida with our governor.
I hope they are taking DNA samples from the unidentified bodies so that there is hope that eventually some relatives will have an idea of what happened to their kin.
Beautiful prayer SD.
This is from a dear friend in Hickory, NC. She sent this Wednesday the 9th of October.
“ Thought about you guys as well. We had power because our power lines are underground, but we did not have cable, internet, etc, or cell service for 3 days. We were very fortunate. Hickory had mostly downed trees and houses damaged by them and downed power lines. Took 5 days for one friend to get power. Our church immediately became a major center for hurricane relief donations, and 2 days after the mountain devastation, our church had collected and sent out 3 long bed trucks and 2 smaller trailers stacked full. We have been working day and night since, sending out at least 2 semi trailers a day with 3 or 4 smaller trailers. We have had donations from all over the Eastern states and one from MI full of generators. We started out working in Asheville, but FEMA came in 3 days ago and stopped us. We have been working in all of the surrounding towns. It is just devastating! Rescue response teams, pastors, police officers are just shaken with all of the death and horrific damage. You are not getting the full truth of how truly bad it is. I have worked sorting, boxing, and cooking to feed all of the many volunteers. God has supplied, and we are reaching so many with the barest of needs. Did you not have relatives in or near Asheville? Know that you went to a wedding there. Pray for us as it has been an overwhelming task, and we have many days left. Pray for the people we are helping. The stories coming out of the mountains are just heart breaking. Love you much❣️”
I haven’t checked lately. I know they are exhausted. These are the people doing God’s work. Thank you, dear Lotd for such angels on Earth. ❤️🙏🇺🇸
“… but FEMA came in 3 days ago and stopped us.” That is simply disgusting, especially in that they have nothing to offer themselves. It seems it’s all about funneling our money to their selected few preferred providers.
Can the Sheriff overrule in these situations?
I have no idea whether or not they could do it legally but I’ve heard some stories saying they have. I would hope that’s the case if they can’t find a way to work together with FEMA keeping in their support lane.
Sheriffs have a LOT of power in local law, and can override the feds.
A sheriff can arrest them on the spot – and some have told problematic ones they would do just that. Some sheriffs will also ensure one gets to where they are going with relief supplies if one coordinates with them ahead of time…
Well that’s what I thought. Maybe just not enough sheriffs to go around? Seems to be lots of reports about FEMA obstructing relief efforts.
fema cannot stop volunteers. go around them, through them, over top of them…whatever it takes. what are they going to do? gubmint – they are good for a laugh every so often, nothing more
What are they going to do is a good question. Videos of them trying to physically stop relief efforts would definitely not be a good look, especially given the nearness of the election.
There is video of a man, maybe a fire chief, (won’t post the link), who describes FEMA walking in, telling them what to do, and absconding with a side by side, so he got on the phone with the Governor (TN), his Senators, his Congressman and flat out told them to get FEMA the hell out of the way because they were useless and obstructing the rescue effort. The side by side was returned.
The Local communities are shining through with the best of what America is and I am so proud of my country right now. So proud of my fellow Americans. And so thankful.
Yeah…these are God-fearing, rule-following people. I figure FEMA wanted Asheville (full of lefties) to see FEMA in action, not the regular folks working so hard in Hickory collecting, separating, loading and delivering all of this love to the churches in the Asheville area to further distribute.
And, after the FEMA video of the Zoom call — it was obvious DEI is in all its glory within that particular bureaucracy!
When this is all over we need Nuremberg type trials for every single person or agency who deliberately got in the way, and that inlude media who helped cover it up.
I know, however, that is unlikely to happen. God help us.
While I was very lucky to be out of state during the storm, Milton left a minor calling card.
My first solo gig with a (mini) chainsaw. I’m quite proud of my accomplishment. Ok, so I did have to look up how to start the thing… but all good from there! 😁
I’ve now been through two NC hurricanes, Hugo and Helene, both occurring the week of my wedding anniversary. During Hugo many newbies bought chainsaws for the first time and a prominent joke went like this.
Disgruntled customer: “This chainsaw you sold me isn’t worth a damn. Won’t cut a thing!”
Store Clerk: “Let me take a look.” – pulls the cord and revs the engine
Customer: “Oh, man! What’s all that noise?!
… I’ll leave the chainsaw work to the pros.
Lol!
Oh please be careful!

I did get some training assisting a couple people after Ian. But you definitely won’t find me trying to cut down any standing trees!
need chaps too!
Hi folks, the country does care(the citizens that is).I as a Yank from the hills of N.H. and many others sending monies to good local organizations, would love to travel down to help but as I do not know the region feel would be just in the way, will just keep making donations.
I will say al me friends who questioned all me preps/new skill learning ect. all asking questions about how to prep.
This is going to be a long road, that said,we are with you for the long haul in helpful ways, best of luck.
Hey brother , I’m from Maine, just spent a week with samaritans purse , they can schedule the overnight relief , they’ll put you to work where needed, just go online and schedule. The ppl of nc need a lot from us , even Yankees are welcome
Kaizen, thanks for that info.,am in a must be onboard situation here for next week or two but as a semi retired construction guy after that me life is me own and feel (unfortunately)they will need hands on for a long time in those affected states, seems road trip is in future!
AMEN!!
A friend in st Pete had some minor screen room damage (brand new screens destroyed) and power out till yesterday. But not too bad otherwise. Sister in Tampa was out power several days, a lot of road flooding still. Titusville got some wind and a coup,e of hours of electric out at backend of storm but avoided worst of rain.
Response to ordinary man,
On spot. We’re over on the south east lake lure side. Comments from locals there and the Chimney Rock people are similar, MANY questions.. Can’t officially say how many missing still.. seen last Monday and Tuesday dogs with crews handling GPS locators all along the broad river below the dam towards rutherfordton, rt 64, I was in lake lure Beach assisting private access repairs. NCNG kicked butt down there according to many. I’m Grateful for that.. Some looting reported, many people carry though. Most locals stepping up with places to stay, eat, get water etc besides the churches, which are all sharing God’s love. Lots of lake houses damaged by tree falls. I pray for all.. Thank you Sundance for the training, information and light this treehouse hears and sees. Definately encouraging to say the least. Thank you treepers, comments are a blessing!
Coming from Raleigh, Husband and I want to bring a load of winter clothes, blankets etc. Would Burnsville be a good spot to drop off?
Please contact local churches in the area. They will know where.
Came up to NC from AR and am blown away at the number of folks from SC, TX, AR and eastern NC here in these little villages. Supplies still pouring in from everywhere (all private donations). Concern is the initial surge will end long before the need period ends. Amazing progress has been made but the devistation is beyond belief. Churches across the region are doing amazing jobs feeding everyone, getting supplies out to where needed and coordinating everything. The recovery will take years and billions of dollars. Many people have lost everything – washed down the creeks that became raging rivers including vehicles, houses, busses, Camper trailers, farm equipment, etc. Keep praying for the people and donate to the churches in the area.
This was sweet to read. About 10-15 years ago NC sent a ton of support to Florida after a really bad one hit, and I was proud. But this is JUST WHAT WE ALL DO.
We will continue to keep all of you in our prayers Patriotson.
We will also keep donating and caring for you as best we can.
You will not be forgotten back there.
I live in Pilot Mt. NC our police aided in search and rescue efforts at our community center . Anyone in need of help could flag an officer down any where and help would be sent . Same with city of King and a stokes county, Elkin and none of will work with FEMA , FEMA is and has been useless . Are peoples bodies are still rotting in the sides of mountains, in city of Spruce Pine and many small towns . Last info I got was 10 thousand body bags were ordered and shipped. Why aren’t any of you reporting any of this !!!!!!!!!!! Now they want to Ruby ridge or WACO us. We could use a little help !!!
The situation in NC is far more dire than people realize, as the media are suppressing the story so as not to make the Democrats look bad before the election. The death count according to Nurse Claire below is 13,000.
Please help the word get out and help where you can. And above else, pray.

Jay I posted the Nurse Clair Prayer Request to Fakebook because I know a lot of people will see it and pass it on. My family and friends are praying for all affected by this. God bless you.
At least until they pull it down. “Misinformation” you know 😉
The fact that the locals are doing this all by themselves is a true testament to rugged American guts!
And the fact that Bribem, Kumswalla and their 70% illegitimate cabinet made up of 70% dual citizens couldn’t give a flying —- about America or her native people!
And yes I do mean native! As in my family has been here since 1754!! We bought it, fought for it and conquered it!! That’s the American spirit that will overcome any commie tactics!!
Mine were here since Jamestown. How long does it take before we are recognized as legit, I wonder. Your post reminds me of how dangerous it is to allow people with ties to other countries to be in governnent. Our founding fathers knew this.
I have to say I was guilty of being asleep from the end of Reagan till 2012.
But the second Obozo admin really opened my eyes. And President Trump’s meteoric rise to crush the deep state in 2015 got me reinvigorated to NEVER take our rights for granted! And never allow these deep state ziolibs unfettered control of OUR Republic!!
At this point in our history, your family should be counted among the indigenous peoples we celebrated on 14 October.
My family has been traced back to the early 1700’s in the Appalachian region. I live in Tennessee now, but I wasn’t born here. I have had nightmares ever since seeing the destruction up in those mountains. There is a deep bond in my spirit with this region. I am so proud of “my people” and so disgusted with my government.
Such vast devastation. I was reading through the comments and thinking of what I could add to the conversation, when my wife started telling me about a co-worker, whose daughter went to help a horse farm. Their livestock is all missing. So far, they’ve been able to capture a few animals, but the bulk remain on the loose.
Her report is that people are walking around still in shock. She said everything is dirty. The people are dirty. They smell. The air smells of death. They found a horse in a tree. Stray animals all over.
I heard a request yesterday that they need hands. Supplies have been pouring in, but more than anything, they need people who are willing to shovel mud, clear debris, just help clean up.

hmmmm
I listened. This is a NC update and plea to not be forgotten. She states what others are saying regarding death and total devastation. It is 7 minutes long. Toward the end she mentions a couple of ways to help including an Amazon wish list. I’d have to listen again to understand exactly how to search for it.
Amen 🙏
Amen.
I’m in Flat Rock/Hendersonville, NC, and apart from pockets here and there the towns are getting back to normal. Duke Power’s outage map shows that power has been restored to the surrounding area with all major outages now being north and east of us – north Asheville and Clack Mountain and east to the area of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Those latter two, which I drove through only week before Helene, are only 30 minutes form my home but for all the devastation Helene inflicted, in comparison to Flat Rock, are as far away as the moon.
Out power was restored on October 6th. The low water flow we experienced, due to the flooding of two major treatment plants, was restored to normal around the same date but we were advised to boil it for consumption for several more days. Cell service was restored around the 7th but was on and off for several more days. Internet service was restored around the 10th but the connection was tenuous for several days and we still have brief outages here and there.
Most stores are open, decently stocked, and can take credit cards instead of cash, but there are many that remain closed due to extensive flood damage. The parks where I like to hike are all closed while they clear the downed trees and repair the water-damaged trails. Several small bridges in town are impassable and locals must now take circuitous routes to get to places that were once a quick trip. While the power is restored, power lines still hang low in many areas and it will take quite a while to get them safely raised.
As I said in an earlier thread, my area is extremely lucky but we know that only a short distance away there is terrible suffering. The property and infrastructure damage is unbelievable and the human toll is even worse. Several sources I’ve read – and believe – including the powerful testimony of General Flynn (link below), estimate that the death count will definitely be over 1000 and possible double that.

Two weeks before Helene, my wife and I took a pleasant day trip to Boone, NC, the home of Samaritan’s Purse, and to that wonderful organization I sent my relief donation.
The 700 club did a video this weekend of an event in Hendersonville bringing God and people together.
That was tear inducing. I am so glad so many could gather together to find hope, comfort, and strength.
That event was spearheaded by the church I attend, First Baptist of Hendersonville. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to be there that day.
A good friend and I just spent the week with samaritans purse doing relief work in the buncombe county. It is a devastating event for those who live there, please do what you can, the good people of NC are doing this on their own. They are good strong folks, and they will get through this, but our federal govt has abandoned them.
East TN here. Power and water restored in record time…they initially estimated up to 3 weeks for water. The boil order here is over. Swift water team swam the rivers carrying new power lines to speed restoration.
Town is returning to a semblance of normalcy, although several businesses are still closed. School will resume this week for the ones that can get there. Many outlying and mountain roads are still in bad shape, as is the RR. Outlying areas did not fare well. Anything close to a river has been destroyed. The communities near NC line are in worse shape.
Supplies have been brought from EVERYWHERE. Local people and churches are handling the bulk of donations and running them into the devastated areas.
There have been volunteers from as far away as Louisiana serving food every single day, that is beginning to slow a bit now with most meals handled by churches.
People still displaced and will be for sometime. Here and in WNC people are camping in tents or makeshift shelters to stay on their property.
All our citizens here are accounted for, 2 deaths reported. I fear WNC will not be as fortunate. When ENTIRE communities were washed away, who is left to report them missing?
The work here has been our locals and NG. There were 2, yes two FEMA reps that arrived about day 6 if I remember correctly. Local people are very wary…some have revoked their FEMA applications after reading the fine print.
The death count is no doubt being understated although I would not venture a guess on how high it will be. Spoke to a gentleman today who lives on the lake…the one that catches all 3 rivers here. There was a boom installed a week ago to help clear the MASSIVE amounts of debris. There has been at least 1 body recovered that he knows about. That area is 25 miles from the closest area of flooding and 50+ miles from the mountains of WNC. There will no doubt be more recovered in the weeks ahead.
Thanks for the update Volgarian, nice to read. Eastern TN is a “vacation” home for my household, we love being among kindred spirits. Happy to read “semblance of normalcy”, as well as “supplies have been brought from EVERYWHERE.” I also just read somewhere in here that NCNG has done a bang-up job, and I can easily imagine yours is no different at all. Cut from the exact same cloth.
NG and our local officials have been outstanding. The people here are proud and STRONG. We take care of each other. The “transplants” here are shocked at how well a bunch of hillbillies and rednecks function like a well oiled machine to get things done 😉
Appalachian people are just made different. Those NG boys are our sons, grandsons, nephews, friends.
We are blessed with local officials who have military backgrounds as well.
Reminds me of a dam that burst here in SoCal a century ago, the St Frances…hundreds were washed away, and found as far south as the border. For literally decades they would occasionally turn up. Water is a fearsome force and so is wind.
The “self taught” engineer behind the disaster was the same one who designed the Mulholland dam. Calls were made immediately to drain it too, but they only lowered the water level halfway, where it remains to this day.
St. Petersburg, FL Still without power. Maybe half the neighborhood still without power. Energy workers are at it hard and cheerful. Publix hit or miss on food items. Lots of empty shelves. But lots of neighbors prepared, sharing, remembering what’s important. Interestingly, EVERY neighbor that had a lefty sign (candidate or issue) in their yard—put their own brush at the curb or paid someone to do it, kept to themselves, and did not (still is not) helping others—but put the sign/s out again as soon as their power was back on. Conservatives are just still out there working and not necessarily putting up signs. I’ve literally loaned out a car for almost a week now, tools and more tools, my dump trailer, and my free labor EVERY day from sunrise to dark. Gladly. Granted, it’s St. Petersburg, “the San Francisco of the East Coast,” which explains some things. Sigh.
Lara Trump just now on Fox. Go here if you can help people in NC vote

Broker checked in today from Hendersonville NC so they have power and internet.
Have we heard from our Little Flower?
I believe she is in this area and I’ve not seen an update from her since Helene was arriving on land.
Hopefully she’s posted she’s ok and I missed it.
Yes she posted today and she is ok.
Thank you for this update! Excellent news!!!
Sure wish these boys had a Marine K-Bar. Note the Soldier is using a plastic knife (God Bless him) and then a local whips out his knife to cut the meat. Stuff like this drives me nuts, I am far too anaal retentive.
The City of Tampa failed to turn on the water pumps in an area named Forest Hills, North BLVD between Bougainvilla and Fowler. The City had just installed these pump stations a year or so ago for water overflow, the area that flooded is a Zone X. The City flooded many houses because of being poorly managed by Mayor Castro. City council having a special meeting tomorrow with the residents…Castro going to be there because they know the city really messed up.
My friend was there again today cleaning out her ruined home and said the city of Tampa code inspectors was there helping people take out furniture to the curb. When have you ever seen City officials doing manual labor? We worked over there Sunday and everything we had put on the curb yesterday had already been picked up along with all the downed trees. Oh ya, the City of Tampa under Jane Castro is turning into a craphole as she tows the Demonrat line.
Nurses from Arkansas headed to NC to help. Interesting that there are not more reports of doctors and nurses on the ground in devastated areas. Surely many are there? Right? Have also wondered about veterinarians?

If you are curious what Appalachian Mtn Folks are like, here you go…
Well now that was just awesome. So much respect for these people. Makes me want to strive to be a better soul.
I know what they’re like. My mother was from West Virginia. Salt of the earth types.
Another gentleman echoing the truth about the Harris/Biden admin and their FEMA. Barnersville, NC.
So this particular Sheriff worked against the relief efforts. Disgraceful. These victims will never forget.

101st Airborne in Marshall NC
I can’t find the post, someone mentioned the Army Corp of Engineers. They are there.
I imagine someone here at CTH is familiar w/this lovely woman. From time to time I will watch her cooking videos. She is collecting funds for Johnson County TN. I definitely would trust her to do right by any support. The opening story about a gramma and her grandchild tears at the heart. I am always in awe of grandparents that take on the task of raising their grandchildren. They are special people. I love the people that taking care of people like them.
WOW this is so sad–Crying again.
