It was great to see Musk talking about reforming our voting process by going back to “old school” voting. Election day, paper ballots, manual count, very limited absentee.
This would be easy to do and easy to administer, but the problem is the democrats would lose half the seats they hold nationwide and the poor hapless GOP would be forced into long-term leadership on issues. Neither party will support this unless people with a big mouthpiece (like Musk) say it over and over until the voters demand it.
The system we have today is the result of the uni-party, not just the democrats. The GOP is the permanent minority party as long as they get an even share of the DC graft. The GOP wants nothing to do with leadership on any issues except corporate tax cuts. They somehow find their balls on that issue…… wonder why?

Shelf life is what it’s all about. Cookies for example…..Back say 55 years ago , there were much fewer types and brands of cookies. But because of preservatives, artificial flavors, etc. there are so many choices because they can sit (until sell by date) without much waste.
But boy has The flavor and even texture suffered because of all the additives. Nabisco brand was actually good …..Ideals, Ginger fruit cookies, Lorna Doone, wedding cookies., were all good tasting back then , not so much now.
I believe the only cookies that have pure chocolate are Pinwheels and mellowmars (chocolate discolors after a short while.) Snickers..the next time you try one….nothing about the outside taste like chocolate …just sugar sweet. Bring back my Butternut ….
When I moved to the UK in 1986 and had one of their biscuits (Brit for “cookie”), I wondered why on earth there was no sugar in them. Our Founding Fathers included a system like the Electoral College in our Constitution – in part – to blunt the impact of regional ballot box stuffing in national elections (which is why Democrats hate and want to get rid of the EC).
I don’t think it was Silver’s intent, but he’s basically saying the Electoral College “bias” favoring Republicans is actually a function of that system foiling Democrat’s ability to cheat AS DESIGNED.
The President of the United States is elected by the Electoral College. The States have proportional representation in the Electoral College.

I’d say software architecture described in that report is absolutely horrendous but also conveniently open to manipulation, and then, chalk up the results to “sloppiness” or “incompetence”
CAUTION: someone is soon going to demand the FEDs step in to solve this. Citizens need to educate ourselves on the basics here or we will end up with a centralized Stalin’esq ballot system. If credit card, bank and stock market transactions were run on systems like this, the nation would fall into chaos overnight.
This is been intentionally made 1000x too complicated for adding votes. Computer systems for stocks, reservations, credit cards and banking transactions, even 30 years ago, could handle as much data as a US election in a few minutes with 100% accuracy, auditability and redundancy. Adding and merging votes is a very simple application that needs hardly any digital technology. It can easily be distributed to the local voter level with 100% security, redundancy and auditability.
I read a similar report from a digital security group commissioned by Dallas County after the 2018 midterms. It was commissioned to look at huge discrepancies in Dallas vote tallies vs the ones collected at state/national results. It involved the SCYTL vote servers used in Spain (a Soros company). The report pointed to systemic fraud vulnerabilities and nothing was done to correct it – most likely that report was used to refine, distribute and replicate the subversion.
This is essentially a dead-simple application system.. I can think of a few hard requirements that must be builtin, in order to certify any precinct results:
1) The Feds are permanently corrupt and cannot be allowed to build, control or influence state systems
2) State systems must be openly verifiable (not hard to do if we are willing). SoS is responsible but public must have access to verify.
3) 100% paper ballots, handed out one day only – hand recorded to match the ID of verified US citizen at the polling place
4) require OMR machines (optical mark recognition w/#2 pencil) to record paper ballots. They cannot have any means for loading software. Minimal software in OMR scanner, burned in ROM with traceable auditable checksum. Final vote tally of each machine is then also burned to ROM with checksum. Read-only checksum and vote tally for each machine at the precinct is loaded via physical connection, producing read-only vote tallies for precinct. Encrypted OMR and precinct tallies with checksums can be then sent over encrypted dedicated data link to county level. Repeat for state level. (see also#7)
5) Voters are given a key to trace their vote at each and every ROM-total, from scanning machine to final results
6) All software is open source.
