I hadn’t been to a Mickey D’s in years, since my kids grew up. My husband and I stopped in on a road trip and had quarter pounders with cheese and fries and a fish filet. It was good! I had forgotten about their delicious food with all the eat healthy talk we are bombarded with all the time.

One of the worst things that happened to me in my life is that I became gluten intolerant. My and my 3 sisters who worked at our family bakery from age 12 or so until we went to college (I dropped out for about ten years) are now all gluten intolerant.
I used to stop by Burger King or McDonalds’s after my hour and 1/2 commute to work and get a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit, with a side of home fries.
I’d be in a coma for a couple of days if I ate that now.
Hoping our Long National Nightmare will be over soon. Not counting on anything except prayer.

One of my best memories of my old dad is when Nolan Ryan, with the Texas Rangers, returned to the “Big ‘A'” (Anaheim Stadium), and struck out his last batter, #5,714, Torey Lovullo.
Old Nolan was on fire. You could hear the “pop” from the catcher’s mitt during his warm-up, from the third deck.
Nolan left around the 6th inning, losing something like 2-1. Had struck out something like 11. Angels won. Rangers’ bullpen lost.
The Anaheim crowd roared as he left the mound for the last time. He tipped his cap off his balding head, as he crossed the first-base line heading to the Rangers’ dugout, at the split-second I got a great 11″ x 17″ film photo with a telephoto lens. I think Nolie was 46. Dad was born in the Depression and loved Bob Feller. Taking him to see Nolan’s last strike-out is a memory for life.
Next start, in Seattle, Nolan’s elbow blew in the 1st inning and that was the end.

I recently retired from a 40 + career in Hospitality. I lost my illustrious high paying job in an academic setting because of the shut down in 2020—-which was a blessing in disguise. I was at the end of my rope in academia—and I could have just collected a check but I something inside me refused to accept that so I took a mngt. position at the local Taco Bell. Because somehow the PTB allowed fast food to stay open (!). Hardest job I ever had. I made it 7 months there until I was able to land something more suitable in the private sector. While at TB I did my best to enjoy my work and be positive but at 60+ years I can’t say it was ever easy.
I don’t know how it’s even possible to love this man even more than I already do, but I do. And it was also a brilliant political move. He touched a lot of people by doing this.
