What to make of the exchange between Teh One and Biden at the Kennedy funeral? Makes me uneasy that Teh One says “we still have time”. Thoughts?
I wonder if the nutrition advocates are going to vote for President Trump when they find out the government’s been poisoning the food supply.

My very health conscious kiddo was swayed by the RKFjr and Tulsi endorsement -from not voting to voting Trump. Vanderbilt and UPenn grad…so it did change the mind of at least one Millennial .
I don’t think it was the health aspect but a sister and brother in law are supposedly voting for Trump in GA after voting third party in 2020 at least in part because of some of the left support for Trump. I believe his parents are voting Trump as well. At this point whatever it takes to get middle grounders over. But there’s always those like my wife’s brother who is voting against Trump as he says even though he doesn’t like Kamala…
Perhaps point out that he’s actually NOT voting “against Trump” but instead is voting against those he claims to love?

I am tail end Gen X, and I have had to take the reigns on my own “healthcare” losing insurance in ’08 and having become effectively “uninsurable” for nearly two decades because I chose to work for myself.

The art of propaganda. Truth is, is no one needs anyone to tell them processed foods are good, or bad. It shows in appearance, mental state, and physical health. Eat crap and you feel like crap. Eat too much sugary food and you get inflammation in your joints, and if you have cancer, you are feeding it.
What no one tells you is, what if they took away all that processed garbage, because only 15% of food is REAL, whole, and unadulterated. You end up with a few healthy individuals, and the rest would starve to death. Think the Irish potato famine, or dust bowl. That is what you would have if everyone started eating REAL whole foods.
The fact that so many chemical food additives that are allowed in the US are actually banned in other Western countries is very telling. The stuff they are legally allowed to put in our food and water is poison.
There is a popular cinnamon whiskey that is banned in 7 countries and allowed here in the United States called Fireball. It has an ingredient that is also found in anti-freeze.
Fireball once used propylene glycol (non toxic) in their cinnamon whisky. Antifreeze uses ethylene glycol (toxic).

Doesn’t ice cream contain embalming fluid, to keep it cold for a very long time? I see it sitting on pallets in the supermarket, before that it was made in a factory, put in containers, put on refrigerated trucks(hopefully) and transported across country.
Just think about it.
It’s so easy to make your own, cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, no cooking. With some recipes you don’t even need the IC freezer, but those are very inexpensive.
Home made ice cream is so easy. 1 pound of frozen berries blitzed with one cup of half and half. No sugar needed
Or a cup of yogurt in a vitamix blender. It is absolutely delicious.
My label reading daughter (has two toddlers) assures me that Haagen-Daaz ice cream
is OK for me to buy cos it is the only one which does not have this non melt stuff in it.
The key word is “ultra-processed”, and we have yet to define what that means, and we also do not yet have the quality studies to show what kind of processing is actually harmful, and how and why.
Some kinds of processing make food safer and better.
Just look at the label. If you see it is a mile long with ingredients you can’t pronounce, it is “ultra-processed.”
Buy whole foods and you will be o.k.
Palm oil they started putting in popular peanut butter brands almost killed me. I now buy Crazy Richard’s or Teddies unadulterated PB.
If you see sustainable on the label find out what “the sustainable” is, it could be insect powder.
To be safe make everything from scratch or as much as you can.
People with seafood allergies will need to be especially careful if insect powders are added

I only buy peanut powder, and then make my own by mashing into butter. A sealed container will sit on the shelf for 5 years. I also sprinkle it on my dogs food for extra protein.
My handicapped son is diabetic and I have been putting peanut powder on his daily serving of steel cut oats for years. Add homemade almond milk and top with fresh raspberries or blueberries.
I also add it to our daily smoothie–almond milk, no sugar yogurt, peanut powder, 1/2 avocado, low carb protein powder and 2 cups of frozen fruits and ice.
Xavier… I am not addressing your personal situation, but Palm oil was considered bad due to saturated fat content.
Newer research is showing that most saturated fats consumed in moderation, are actually better for you than the proliferation of seed oils that are now in most of what we eat.
That would include beef tallow, butter, ghee, and coconut oils for example. These contain beneficial Omega 3 fatty acids. Much better than canola, corn, and safflower and other seed oils which are linked to inflammation.
Maybe, but just look at the photographs of individuals from the forties, fifties, sixties and early seventies.

Part of ultra processed ….I take to mean….it is so cooked and laden with chemicals that it no longer contains any nutritional value but instead is harmful. Growing up and learning to cook …was taught to not overcook vegetables and to eat the outside peeling as this is where the fruit or vegetable contained it’s defenses against disease and insects. GMO has rendered 0 nutritional value and destroyed those natural defenses of our food.
That’s what happens when FDA advisory boards and bureaucracy is staffed with former multi-national food corps associates. Of course, that’s also a win for the cancer-treatment business. It’s not an accident these things occur.

I have the book and don’t agree with 100% of it (just applying some life-experience salt as always). They seem to lump some good carbs in with the obviously bad ones a bit too cavalierly for my taste.
However I do think it’s absolutely packed with useful information to add to a person’s arsenal of health wisdom.

The rule of thumb I have found most useful is to avoid overly “handled” food and chemical additives that my body hasn’t evolved to view as an energy/nutrient source and therefore will eliminate (best outcome) or will cause inflammation and chronic disease (worst outcome).
Humans evolved eating meat, greens, roots, fruits, berries, grasses. Stay with that plan, and listen to your body.

He always stressed that his was a “controlled carbohydrate” diet, but somehow the media altered that into the perception that his was an all meat diet loaded with fat and fat would kill you.

Grapeseed oil is one of the worse and still being sold at Costco. What does that tell you.

Eat like a peasant instead of an aristocrat, eat beans, greens, fish, fruit and veggies. Another tip, our stomachs are as big as our fists so we don’t really have to eat as much as we think we do.
And we don’t need “3 meals” or breakfast.
Learn what “hungry” feels like, and don’t eat if you’re not hungry.
I like intermittent “fasting” which is really “don’t eat 18 hours a day” because its an easy pattern for me to execute.
I aim for 6/18, but often end up 8/16 to accomodate my husband’s schedule. That’s basically consume your days calories within a 6 to 8 hour window.

I usually eat 2 meals a day
always dinner
breakfast or lunch one or the other not both
sometimes I skip both and only eat once if I’m not hungry
I try not to eat after 7 at night
I try to stick to eating 3 basic things
and I eat as much of it as I want
whole meat – Chicken,Turkey,Beef,Fish,eggs or pork
veggie – beans
fruit
if I snack Dark Chocolate or popcorn
and if I’m really hungry more whole meat
if I have to have a starch like rice potatoes it is a very very small amount
Bread only whole wheat and I try to avoid it
this has worked wonders for me

I do power walk 5 miles a day and I’m over 60

I used to call him on Father’s day and tell him I needed the milkman’s number, cuz there was no way in heck I could be his child!

That’s how much portion you need to be full.
Eat just a little bit, every hour or couple of hours.
You’re keeping a pilot light on to keep the calories burning,

Your brain takes 7 minutes for the ‘signal’ from your stomach that “there’s something in here now.”
I chewed and chewed my food till near liquified- its all flavor, and your face wants to chew- that’s what the belly band or gastro reduction people have to do.
I would eat a very small something, a couple or 3 bites, and set it down.
I very soon got to where I’d eaten half a hot dog, just the dog, and forgotten the other half.
(So I ate it the next hour.)
I also avoided most near all bread or carbs, they don’t fill you or keep you full.
As a trucker, I had not the means nor the kitchen to make do, and still lost near 100 lbs on my short self.
(Warm food or hot meals tempt one to eat a lot more, I didn’t worry about hot. I was just stuffing the hole so I could get another 50 miles down the road. Keep that left door shut and keep on truckin’.)
I just let time do the work, by a few weeks, a few months later, that watermelon was gone.
You’re going to be alive this time next year, so why not let God do the work for you?

I read often to my one year old granddaughter. Every night before bed I would read five books to each of my three children. I started doing that when they were six months old. They all loved to read and were all excellent students.
I too was an avid reader as a child. We moved constantly and so many times I had to choose between giving away my toys or my books. I always chose, keeping my books. We lived for a time way out in the beautiful countryside of the Ozarks and trips to town library were a treat for me.
Even though it never was “my” money, the books I was allowed to buy at book fairs in school were my most prize possessions. I enjoyed displaying them like trophies.
I read two great books to deal with an extremely hateful mil. One was Stop Walking on Eggshells that spoke about Borderline Personality Disorder. The other was a book called Boundaries. They saved my sanity and my marriage,

Every state is different, but you most do not allow you to open or begin the actual counting of mail-in ballots until Election Day. Many want to change this and have been actively trying to, but I think most states have held the line.
In many States mail-in ballots are not opened until election day, so November 5th, and then the votes get counted. Until then it’s simply counting the number of mail-in ballots returned.
The voting integrity reforms President Trump is calling for will only be implemented IF we each gather enough VOTERS to re elect him plus elect Republicans so Democrats don’t control the House or Senate.

NC, as other states, needs to elect an honest (NOT woke/leftist) ATTORNEY GENERAL as much as a governor. Our veto-proof R majority has more or less kept dimokrat-flake Cooper in line, but we have been completely absent in other very important ways. A good AG will SUE THE BASTARDS when they get out of line. A good AG will challenge EVILS such as Biden’s Title IX B.S. and so on. It is EMBARRASSING that we have not had that kind of thing happen for us, and I hope and pray we get a real human being elected as AG on Nov 5.
There is something I still do not get about NC politics in electing opposing parties for Governor, Lt Governor and AG. Maybe its seen as a check/balance but it has really hurt what is a relatively patriotic and Christian base.
It was not until the Tea Party days of 2010 that the center majority of NC woke up to Obama and to where 100 years of Democrat control and multinational corporate influence had taken us. We’ve also typically elected R US senators but they are traitors like Burr and Tillis.
In 2010 for the first time in 100 years, we elected an R legislature. Next election 2012 we added an R governor (GOPe McCrory) but also Communist Cooper for AG who, with the Judicial activists undid everything the legislature and people had accomplished including nullification of NC’s man/woman marriage Constitutional Amendment.
Then in 2016 we elect Communist Cooper (D) as Governor in the same election we elect Trump. Then we elect Cooper again after he decimated small business during his covid lockdowns. But, we elected firebrand Mark Robinson (R) as Lt Governor.
This election Robinson is running for Governor against a worse multinational Communist than Cooper. Lets see what the voters do.
I agree on a lot of that. One thing though, Cooper was AG before, while Mike Easley was governor. Remember him? Dragged into court as soon as he left the mansion. And then Bev, who decided not to run for a second because she knew she’d either lose or end up in court too. You might have a slightly different view of her time as gov.
Anyway, yeah, it’s a little “strange” having a D as gov and an R as LT gov, etc. But I myself have always seen that as a check-and-balance… wishing we had that at the federal level too, at least for purposes of having an “enemy” right there in the same meetings and maybe even some decision processes.
I’m still PO’d about McCrory losing and truly believe it was the “machine” that got him booted after one term. Sure there was the “bathrooms” thing that originated in the Charlotte City council and then the state jumped all over it, ending that deal very quickly. But it hurt us economically (the boycotts) and it hurt McCrory, probably as much as that coal ash thing. But again I know it was that old southern dimokrat machine (100+-yer-old good-ol-boy network as you alluded) that poured it on and made sure a dimokrat could slide (slither) back into the mansion. I still believe he lost against McCrory. 6-8K-vote margin, while Durham County’s 94.5K votes (the forced recount) turned into a huge pile of smelly mud.
You know Robinson is suing CNN? I still very much hope he’s got a chance on Nov 5, and Dan Bishop can get the AG slot. THAT would be a tremendous thing for us.
But again I very much appreciate the veto-proof legislature because they shoved Cooper’s nose in it several times. I sure hope we don’t lose that.
I pray those voters remember how hard Lt. Governor Robinson has worked during the devastating hurricane affects of NC while the Democrats did absolutely nothing for seven days.

Massachusetts here also, Steph. Thought long and hard about voting early and ended up doing so today. Hubby is having a serious heart procedure tomorrow (would appreciate prayers) so we both thought it would be the better option. Went to the town hall and it was set up exactly like our normal polling place.
I gave my name and address. A label with a bar code, my name, and address, was printed out and was affixed to an official envelope. I made my choices, placed the ballot in the envelope, sealed it, then signed it (which is required) before putting in to a white plastic ballot box.
A small but steady stream of people came in and voted, both young and old. Very nice to see.
The biggest issue was 3 full flights of stairs to climb. Hubby joked that if he had a heart attack from all the stairs, at least his vote was banked! What a card.

As an aside, the person who processed my name could not hear me. After several attempts I made it easy for him and showed my drivers license. He never asked. Early Voting in TX starts 21 October and ends 1 November.

That puts TX in play for a flip, due to the number democrat and even independent registrations concentrated around the major population centers controlled by democrats (i.e. Dallas-Ft Worth, Austin, Houston, San Antonio and El Paso).
I also suspect that these percentages are nearly the same for ALL States and there are more than battleground States that can be flipped.

Robinson appeared on Newsmax over the weekend to address the allegations and assert that he has filed a lawsuit against the network.

Astorino asked, “So tell me about this lawsuit against CNN. It’s accusing the network of deliberately running a hit piece to derail your campaign and damage your personal reputation.”
“Right. Absolutely. That’s exactly what it is. The timing of this thing was extremely suspicious. Everybody that I talked to, they all say the same thing. If these things had been out there, they would have been revealed long ago. Someone would have found them long ago, but they didn’t,” Robinson stated.
