Take Wisconsin as just one example. Reuters/Ipsos had Biden up +10%; NYT/Siena had Biden up +11%; Emerson, CNBC and CNN all had Biden up +8%; ABC/WaPo had Biden up +17%. This led to an RCP average of Biden up +6.7%. Biden won WI by 0.7%. All these polls were taken within 10 days of the election.
The point is that RCP is nothing but garbage. If the polls they use are garbage, so are their averages. The same thing applies to 538’s poll averages.
The pollsters all claim to have corrected for the Trump under the radar vote, but they are full of it. They are still doing doing their Democrat bias thing.

Paper Ballots were used, ID was required.

Mark Cuban mocked Donald Trump on Thursday over his sweeping tariff proposals, suggesting the Republican presidential nominee doesn’t understand his own tax ideas.
“I’ve learned a lot about business, including how tariffs work,” the billionaire investor and former “Shark Tank” host told supporters of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris at a campaign rally in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Trump “thinks that China pays for them,” Cuban said of the proposal to hike taxes on all imported goods from China up to 60% or higher.
“This is same guy that thought that Mexico would pay for the wall,” Cuban quipped, prompting laughter and cheers from the crowd.
Trump has repeatedly pointed to tariffs as a sort of cure-all, arguing that heavy import taxes — including an across-the-board tariff as high as 20% — will bring in massive revenue from overseas, fund a slew of tax cuts and boost U.S. industries, all without causing inflation.
But U.S. importers are the ones who directly pay those tariffs to the government, and mainstream economists say enacting Trump’s plans would raise costs on Americans. The Peterson Institute for International Economics, for instance, found that a universal 20% tariff and a 60% tariff on China would cost the typical U.S. household more than $2,600 per year.
Cuban added that he believes Trump “used to understand how tariffs work” back in the 1990s and 2000s.
“But I don’t know what happened to him,” Cuban said.
The Wisconsin appearance marked the first of three swing states Cuban is visiting in support of the vice president’s White House bid.
Cuban is set to head to Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday to host a talk about Harris’ economic agenda, according to the Harris campaign. On Sunday, he will campaign with second gentleman Douglas Emhoff in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

IIRC, the nearly immediate statement put out by the Trump campaign and the SS/FBI saying that guy was not a threat; the immediate pushback from various actors apparently on the right; the immediate release on $5k bail; the stories about what his real name is and what his affiliations are…go into the folder marked “this story stinks.”
I still think the guy and his story is sketchy* (as you indicate, who in their right mind brings clearly visible firearms into California?), and after watching Sheriff Bianco’s press conference the next day, it dawned on me what a political threat the Sheriff is in this state and that powerful interests want to bring him down. What a plausibly deniable scenario to set up him/his department in an arrest “gone wrong?”
Add that Riverside County (where Bianco is Sheriff) is pretty near purple as far as I can tell (blue in Palm Springs area, red in the rural areas, blue in the LA commute area), and “wouldn’t it be great” if the California machine could flip the whole county blue. Bringing down the Sheriff would be advantageous in that effort. I learned from that article that the current AG is going after him too.
So: set-up? Who knows, it’s a gut feel for me. I just don’t like the smell around the whole story and I really like how Bianco handles lawlessness in this county and I really detest the California machine.
