Absolutely, President Trump has had an inconceivably heavier lift than Mr. Reagan, and there have been moments when he’s had to lift it all on his own. President Reagan at least had the support of his generation; and the culture with all its problems was still an American family.

I liked him and voted for him. Lost all my financial aide when he changed the funding for school. Dad was only out of military a short time. My parents hadn’t been able to save a lot for college. I ended up switching to part time and working 2jobs to get through school. My last two years took 4 years plus one semester….a class was only given once operating year that I needed to graduate for my major.

I’m not sure you can really compare them. I lived through both as an adult. Reagan was the absolutely right man for HIS time while Donald Trump is for his. The times they lived in, and even more, the SOCIETIES they lived in, were INCREDIBLY DIFFERENT. President Reagan was a man who could make friends with just about anyone. Donald Trump would have been far too brash for Reagan’s time.
Now, with an all but declared war between the (to use Angelo Codevilla’s terms) Ruling Party and the Country Party, we don’t need a man who can build bridges. We need a man who can fight a war and stand up to whatever the traitors in the Ruling Party throw at him. That man is Donald Trump. He is smart enough, tough enough, and, quite importantly, rich enough, to withstand their brickbats and their lawfare.
Both men were heroes and truly great Americans, and each man was ideally suited for the time in which he lived. We should be thanking G-d every day that we have had two such men come along when we so desperately needed them!
