He will have vast challenges when it comes to this. He needs to convince the rest of the world that its OK for them to be independent, and Nationalist.
I’m not worried about this at all. We have the best economy despite Harris/Biden, and we generate more profits than anywhere else. It’s simple. If you want to do business with the USA, you’ll be using dollars. Take it to the bank.

Betsy – with respect, my judgment is not based at all on government information which you correctly point out is essentially useless. I (and others) use business generated metrics such as total market capitalization, revenues and profits. Granted there are shortcomings even in data reported by businesses, but some of us are able to adjust for these shortcomings.
Government policies are a consideration. Hence when I say “despite Harris/Biden” in this case, it is a recognition that our government plays a role in economic health. Our government is a bad influence as President Trump continually points out. Comparatively speaking, our government at the moment is “less bad” than the any of the western governments (yellow zone in Sundance’s global map) and the many command economies in BRICS (SD’s gray zone).
Our economy is so “less bad” that numerous sovereign wealth funds are heavily invested in the US, rather than China, whose business reporting is always suspect; the EU, which committing regional suicide; or even Russia, which has always been corrupt.
I spent some time editing this reply for brevity, and I hope you have a better sense of what underlies my opinion. I appreciate your reply and its tone. You stand head and shoulders above the pedantic treepers in this thread who’d rather call me names than engage in a discussion. All the best to you.

Think about this “tax on unrealized gains.”
Say you bought a home in 1990 for $100k. You lived there, raised your kids, and paid off the mortgage in 2020(30yrs).
You’ve paid property taxes every year but now those taxes are quadrupled-gone from $2,500 to $10,000. And your home’s value has also quadrupled and is now worth $400,000.
So, do you have an unrealized gain or are prices simply a reflection of a devalued dollar-Inflation.?
Capital gains tax is largely a tax on inflation. A tax on an unrealized gain is supposed to be paid with what? Liquidate the asset to pay a tax on it?
Americans have accepted and peacefully complied with taxes that I think had our founders still been around, would have tarred and feathered the politicians who passed these measures.
