Another classic from Three Dog Night
Hoyt Axton met in our living room about a year or so before 3 Dog recorded that song in ’69 and he sang “jeramiah was a bullfrog” for the few of us assembled in our music room, and I thought after he finished the song I thought “that’s a weird nursery rhyme type song. – bullfrogs, huh, wha”?
Then a year or so later came the HUGE hit cover record by 3 dog night and the penny dropped for me as a 12 year old already understanding the confluence of songwriters and “the business”.
Songwriter writes nursery rhyme and gives it to three terrific long hair pop singers and voila! global smash hit. The record business.
His mother Mae Axton wrote “Heartbreak Hotel” for Elvis. Of course Hoyt was gonna write some hits 🙂
He played “dad” in Gremlins movie too. A decent actor and all around hail fellow well met.

I completely agree!! Never hear enough Three Dog Night, I’ve seen them in concert 6 times & the first time was when I was 13 yrs old (over 50 yrs ago). To this day, listening to Shambala & Out in the Country my eyes still tear up.
Cory has passed now, Chuck has kicked his drug addictions, healed & found God, & worked to get his wonderful voice back. He’s even released some solo albums & toured… I have one of his solo albums, “Am I Still In Your Heart”, & “Voices” is especially good.

When I say that every single person at every level of the music business was “on drugs”? I am not exaggerating.
By the time I turned 18? I was getting loaded with Beatles and Rolling Stones. I’m not proud of it. I don’t recommend it either, and some thought I’d never see age 21.

What are the Beatitudes?
Answer: The Beatitudes are the eight declarations of blessedness spoken by Jesus at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:3-12), each beginning with “Blessed are…” It is debated as to exactly how many beatitudes there are. Some speak of seven, nine, or ten beatitudes, but the number appears to be eight (verses 10-12 of Matthew 5 being one beatitude).
The Greek word translated “blessed” means “spiritual well-being and prosperity.” This refers to the deep joy of the soul. Those who experience the first aspect of a beatitude (poor, mourn, meek, hungry for righteousness, merciful, pure, peacemakers, and persecuted) will also experience the second aspect of the beatitude (kingdom of Heaven, comfort, inherit the earth, filled, mercy, see God, called sons of God, inherit the kingdom of Heaven). The blessed have a share in salvation and have entered the kingdom of God, experiencing a foretaste of heaven. The Beatitudes describe the ideal disciple and his rewards, both present and future. The person whom Jesus describes in this passage has a different quality of character and lifestyle than those still “outside the kingdom.” As a literary form, the beatitude is also found often in the Old Testament, especially in the Psalms (1:1; 34:8; 65:4; 128:1) and in the New Testament as well (John 20:29; 14:22; James 1:12; Revelation 14:13).

Our prayer team was praying for each and every one of you…those with all the stress and weight and all the things hitting your area…God’s been warning us about unusual weather, man-made and modified weather…one of the things I was asking God about was Lord what is really going on…one thing that was growing in my spirit…THEY ARE GOING AFTER YOU BECAUSE THEY COULDN’T GET TO PRES TRUMP THE WAY THEY WANTED TO. NOW THEY’RE GOING AFTER THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY CAUSING DEATH AND DEVASTATION. That’s why He’s been warning and prophesying…to not lose hope, faith, our trust in God. They are trying to cause great devastation, chaos, disruptions of every kind, election interference and stealing…to choke and suppress us in every way they possibly can. BUT GOD. He’s given us the strength to do all things. He’s telling us to fight back, pray and stand, He rises us up above the enemy … .God has warned us that we could not stop everything the enemies were doing BUT WE COULD STOP THE EFFECTS OF IT.
As we see these things that are modified, things going against this country…These are not Him. All these are evil. It’s planned and Man-made. He does judgment against our enemies. This is man-made, devastation and destruction. It’s pure evil.
In 2022 or 2023 God kept talking about an unusual hurricane season…He’s been warning us saying these things are coming BUT…He will always give you hope in your final outcome. Took a few days for me to decide whether to respond to the video posted by Duchess on Sunday, I think, something ….why Christianity is the Right religion. I have no doubt that the minister (Shepard) is doing what he believes, and is from his position, reassuring his flock. However this being one of my pet peeves (“ours” is the ONLY way), I respectfully disagree with this way of thinking. Imagine if we can, and are willing to be perfectly honest – would God lose any of His being? – but more importantly perhaps, will WE lose any of our “Godliness” or faith, IF (I’m getting there) (Imagination required) there was no Jesus, or Moses, or Mohammed. Think carefully. I think we can safely say both Christianity and Islam would simply not exist. Judaism as an organized religion would have nothing to organize – Most Rabbis would be out of a job – lol So, should not our faith in God be rooted and no matter the “religion” our first and ONLY desire (as believers and truth seekers) be always to know our God, to be closer with love and respect, to “see” Him in awe, and as He reveals to us His Godliness, compassion and nobility, so should we then, in turn reflect this quality to our fellow man. If our texts and learning do not reveal this, then something s awful wrong. We have to remember that our faith, our believe in the one true God – the Creator and ruler of the Universe and beyond, is the same ONE that every one of us pray to daily, whether you are Henry, Hanna, or Hamza. Now there exists many many dark forces that would like nothing better than for us to annihilate each other, thereby returning us all to a pre-flood Tower of Babel world of complete darkness and chaos – devoid of feeling, love, and human value. We should all think hard and find ways to unite and agree wherever we share (One would think it all obvious), but hey we’re brothers and cousins right – since when has any family had complete agreement? Abraham (our “father”) had no Bible or Koran, Moses (he’s back) had no Torah when they discovered and attained the heights of “seeing” God face to face. How can it be that it’s been over 2000 years and we’re still no closer to each other, despite each of us claiming to hold the “truth”. I suggest we all follow the example of David, and ask our Maker to guide us is HIS truth – not ours – we’ve already endured a few thousand years of it (ours) and for some reason we’re still not there yet. A good and Godly person is exactly that, and I just cannot imagine a loving, caring, merciful God rejecting (or accepting) one, just because he grew up Muslim in Afghanistan, Jewish in Jerusalem, or Christian in Cape Town. It’s the heart of goodness and Godliness in the individual that our Creator desires, not some “religious” rules bashing “teacher” who produces nothing but fearful, obedient “numies (numb to the joy and love of serving the Creator). Of course organized ‘agreed” religious structure is a necessary guiding and learning “safe space”but, it should never BE our devotion – that is to God alone. If not, the “religion” itself may become an “idol” – and we don’t want that.

Born and raised Catholic – was even an Altar-boy for some years. Yet for some reason I never “found” God. Not by fault of many fine and good Priests, and later many fantastic Ministers, Parsons, and great Christians, but I always felt a “hole” that was missing. It was only much much later, and after the Creator had put me through some of life’s “tougher” lessons that He, in His mercy, decided to “wake me up”. (I had by now assumed that I was probably a lost cause, and had all but ceased looking) Yet I guess He decided there was still enough “good” left – and so began the new journey. I was and still am a bit of a “rebel” in the sense that I don’t like to be hemmed in by “rules” – until of course they begin to make sense and one understands their significance – not just “do it because we say so”. But that’s just me, each person is unique and must find his/her true self in truth, and thereby find God in peace and acceptance. A bond that will not/never be broken. Isn’t that what we all desire and seek. Peace.

However, IMHO, God is not about ‘religion’ – He is Creator of all – and each person relates to God in his/her own personal way – the Church is people – not a building or a set of traditions, principles, and/or protocols.
Our job is to find a right relationship with God, the Creator – and how we go about doing that is dependent upon what we are taught is the best way to do that whether we are a Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jew, and/or any other group of believers in the Creator, God.
