About a month ago, it was reported in the Daily Mail the restaurant chain kicked out all of the regular dining patrons so they could stage actors as a campaign event for Kamals Harris in the Pittsburgh area.
The Harris campaign bussed in the press pool and a group of campaign supporters, essentially actors, to stage a photo shoot meet and greet and manufacture the appearance of support for Kamals Harris.
The August event was presented as “ordinary diners,” but was in fact a group of Harris campaign workers. Essentially this was typical astroturf sold as organic or authentic campaigning; it wasn’t. Everything around Kamala Harris is fake, manufactured and astroturf performance.
Staff at the restaurant told patrons they would have to leave at 4:00pm due to a ‘private event’ which turned out to be a campaign stop for Kamala Harris.
♦ In a remarkable contrast, today the same restaurant chain blocked republican VP nominee JD Vance from entering the building and campaigning.
A video taken by a diner within Primanti Brothers was posted on Twitter and quickly went viral. Apparently, most of the people inside the establishment immediately cancelled their orders as soon as they realized what was happening,
The barred JD Vance was undeterred and remained outside the building to thank people as they left. The video shows JD Vance telling those who were outraged that he paid for cancelled meals, left a tip and reminded the operator of the restaurant of the “no tax on tips” pledge from the campaign.

This particular location is only a few hundred feet away from the I-376 interstate highway and the Monongahela river (navigable waterway.) That should probably qualify them as being involved in interstate commerce and therefore subject to Federal civil rights laws and laws about “restraint of trade.” That was the tenuous legal rationale behind most federal civil rights cases.

Back in the 80’s, there was a Primanti Bros in the Strip District of Pittsburgh, which I believe is the original location, and then a smaller one in Oakland, in the heart of Univ. of Pittsburgh.
They were great late night joints where you get a few more beers slightly past 2am along with signature sandwiches on great Italian bread with fries and coleslaw along with whatever meat you chose. You would then slather each bite with large amounts of Trappey’s Red Devil hot sauce.
In recent years, quality of the meats has declined, but they have expanded to many, many locations in PA and outside, I believe.
It used to be an iconic place.

There is an Italian restaurant here in my area that jumped onto the jab bandwagon very early on- announcing that all of their staff was vaxed and they would be happy to welcome customers who were as well. They did not flat out say they wouldn’t seat someone who wasn’t jabbed but they pretty much implied it. We decided at that moment to never patronize them again and I recently saw a story that they had closed up their restaurant due to “changing economic conditions in the area”. Bahahahaha!

Having worked in restaurants for many years during high school and college, I always found that the snobby liberals made the most demands but very seldom left a decent tip! Very true about both groups of people. They both love to talk about taking care of the lesser people and how they need compassion and/or prayers. Went to the original Primanti Bros. on The Strip in Pittsburgh during the early 1990’s. At that time I thought it was good for what it was; a popular beer and sandwich joint with good sports coverage. I went to say I had been there and over the years have outgrown the food, the beer (it was Iron City back then), and professional sports. They are now all over PA and people I know who have recently patronized one of their establishments describe them as somewhat run-of-the mill. Living on past glory methinks.
