Also a long time ago, in England, I had a cat called Figaro, this is the fist time I ever heard of another oerson with a cat called Figaro. 🙂 I used to like to call him in that special way, Figaro ! Figaro.! Feegaro!
My Figaro was a lovely tabby. I also had a white cat called Nijinsky. All my cats have had unusual names I think they deserve special names, with dignity . I knew that before I had ever heard of T.S. Elliot .

We’ve had so many wonderful animals – in the past: Einstein, Madam (Curie), Thatcher, Kemosabe, Clarence Thomas, Reagan, Palin, Gator (Huge white teeth!), Sweeney (for Charles Sweeney, the pilot of Bocks Car)…………..and on and on.We try to give our animals names with . dignity. Our burros were Lordy (for Lordsburro) and Louisa and May for my ancestor, Louisa May Alcott. I’m sure no one has patience to hear all our current animal names!
When I was very young, my family was good friends with a family with children about the same age. The daughter, who I loved, was named Anita. Her father called her “Stinky”. My brother and i never laughed at that and certainly never called her that.
My father, one day, asked his friend to stop calling her that as it was offensive to her and to all of us. He would not, and we no longer visited with them. Stuck with me, even to the point of naming animals. Dignity and respect. ❤️

Here are a few of mine from the past.'”Falworth’ a large fluffy black and white cat, looked a bit pompous, was not a ‘huggy cat’ I thought he suited an unusual name.
His buddy was also black and white, but slender and very mushy and affectionate. he had a pink nose and loved to give vigorous head bumps. I called him ‘Fenwick’ but did not use the English pronunciation ie Fennick but used the name as it appeared.
He was ordinary-looking cat but he was a very special feline with a great personality. I collect possible names for future cats (or dogs) but there is no way I can have more s I live in a ‘no pets’ apartment and lucky to even find this one. and I am getting on a bit in years. My hope is to see them again and maybe who need to be loved

There was ‘Celeste a sort of ‘spacey c’at very feminine but sort of dreamy, so I thought Celeste suited her. Her brother ‘Cedric’ He must have got her share of the brains, he was extremely intelligent and utterly adorable.
There was ‘Nermal’ very small sweet-faced ginger striped feline, from a cat comic the strip. His buddy a fluffy
(thick fur) grey not tabby, just a grey.( you would never see him in a fog )cat , Again a rather dignified and detached feline so I called him ‘Ponsonby.’
Last evening i watched an old episode of an English mystery series.on You tube, ( the newer episodes are dreadful… so politically correct!… one gets nauseated after a few minute, and so those episodes get turned off.) ‘Midsomer Murders.’ I love the series.

They are trying to be very English and often use names for their characters that would suit cats. I triumphantly said “wow three cat names in one episode!’ last night, . Now i can’t remember what they were. (old age 🙂 )

We have had subscriptions to ACORN and Britbox, but have recently canceled both in favor of “Filmrise British ” It is not only free, but has mostly older productions, which I far prefer for the same reasons you have expressed. They have “Midsomer Murders” in fact. I’ve seen them all. It does have some commercials, but I’m OK with it.

It’s a great dieting aid! The times that I consider a 2 or 3 am snack, and then realize the likely consequence of 9 cats and 2 dogs begging – oh never mind!
Same here, girl…we have Maggie at the moment so any thoughts of a quick little nibble are as quickly dismissed.
I found that my taco diet works surprisingly well: order 2 tacos (I like fajita or chorizo and egg). I eat one taco and then open up the second and consume only the filling. I find that I’m usually satisfied doing this. A year ago I weighed 229lbs. Now, I’m down 38lbs. .

Afternoon, Bet. Alexandra and Stephanie Jones are two of my favorite performers. Real virtuosos.
Stayed up much too late/early last night . . . didn’t go to bed until 4am. I just wasn’t at all tired for some
reason. This meant I didn’t get up until almost 11am. Of course when you’re an old retired guy nobody keeps
score or even cares very much. Sometimes I just feel invisible. Not complaining so much as just observing a
practical reality, I guess. My new neighbors are in the mid-30’s. Quite nice folks actually, very personable
and nice. I told ’em to think of me as “the old guy at the end of the street” . . . whatever that means . . . 🙂
To Bet, continued . . . Did I mention I took delivery of my new truck? My late wife’s ’01 Ranger served us well for manyyears, but when the air conditioning failed I didn’t want to spend money fixing a 23 year
old truck. Trading it in was a bit poignant but that was offset by my new truck—a ’24
Maverick hybrid 4 door pickup—full leather interior, sunroof, great sound system, etc. Its
really loaded. At age 80 this is most likely going to be my last truck so, this time around, I bought
exactly what I wanted. Can’t wait to take it on long drives into the Hill Country—sunroof open,
great music playing . When the weather cools off a bit those BBQ lunches will taste even better!
OH MY!! CONGRATS!! I’m sure you did right, Garrison, although I understand completely how bittersweet it was to turn over the keys. Memories…but you’ll always have those, dear friend. Far better at your age to have reliable transport with a warranty just in case. I can imagine how much it would have cost to repair your old motor. Sometimes we just have to put our hearts in neutral and consider the necessaries and the practicalities.

By the way , I mentioned that it was a strategic error to not follow the beeper attack with an invasion and I mentioned that the reason is likely a US pressure. Netanyahu is now on his way to have a speech in the UN. In my opinion his presence in the US at this time of pressure is not a positive. Biden is also trying to tie the Lebanon deal with a Hamas deal which he has already failed to obtain miserably.
By the way, with all the happenings in Lebanon there was not even a single rocket fired from Gaza as a solidarity with their Hezbollah “brothers”. This tells me that they are close to defeat. It means more than a million words of “experts”.
This is not a time to surrender and give them a thousand terrorists released and a withdraw from Gaza and a guaranty for the survival of Hamas leaders which means that Hamas will re-emerge victorious. This is exactly what Biden is pushing for. It’s hard times for Israel. We could be facing a coordinated ban of the West. Israel is a nuclear power and pushing it too much could result in a World War. Or maybe a World War is the end game of all this?

Our current politicians are on the side of the terrorists, even at home. I think they hate Jews that much. They are in the left faction of the left party, so they are communists in their hearts.

“The ceasefire will be for 21 days, along the blue line (the border between Israel and Lebanon),” the officials said. “During this time, the parties will hold negotiations towards a possible solution to the conflict that has been going on since Hezbollah launched an attack on October 8, with the intention of reaching an overall agreement along the blue line that will allow residents to return to their homes in both Lebanon and Israel.”
The officials clarified that this is an agreement only for the northern region, and is not related to the Gaza Strip, but according to them, this may facilitate progress on the Gaza issue.

Israel was never meant to “win,” and despite diplomatic efforts seemingly to the contrary that fact remains. A way will always be proposed for Israel to snatch defeat from the cusp of victory. That is one of the points of opposition to a Trump revanche – he was enabling Israel to win and for the powers that be, that is intolerable. Things like the Abraham Accords are not part of the planned script that ends in the elimination of the Israeli state.
Ironically, a Trump loss this November would be a domino that likely would see a steamroller toward the One World Government that the balllyhooed ‘Great Reset’ is pushing us toward. And at the end of the process, one of the main goals, will be the final settlement of the “Jewish problem.”

I think that the source of the main religions on earth is a subject for attack.
Israel represents the origin of Christianity, Judaism and Islam (Muhammad copied and accepted a lot of the Bible).

Helene could well intensify into a CAT 5 though will weaken a little bit just before landfall. Hurricane force gusts will be felt all the way up into Atlanta. Torrential rains will bring serious flooding well inland. Joe Bastardi expects there will be “over 100 tornadoes associated with this storm”. The thing is Helene is just the first of a very active period where conditions are conducive for hurricane formation and landfalls on US shores.
This is one to get out of the way of if one lives anywhere near the coast where it will make landfall.

I heard on the news today that half the deaths from most hurricanes are a result of flooding issues. Even further inland, this is a big risk – makes me remember the slogan, “Turn around, don’t drown”. Everyone be aware of the issue of flooding and the risk to peoples’ lives. I pray we only have property damage from this storm. Things can be repaired and replaced. People, not so much.
Yes. Storm surge is by far the biggest killer. People are going to die from a multitude of causes due to this storm.

For over a decade the size of Atlantic Hurricanes has been trending down. Last year the only one of a size that was typical 20 years ago was Lee. But Helene is a big storm with a big wind field. Virtually all of Florida will have Tropical Storm force winds at a minimum.
Helene will probably turn out to be the 5th largest hurricane to come through the Gulf of Mexico so far this century.
Larger storms bring higher storm surge. The area of very low pressures at the core is larger resulting in a larger dome of raised water and the area of winds to drive that water is much larger and thus the winds more sustained.
And as one would suspect, larger storms generally produce more tornadoes.
Currently almost all of the historically most accurate models show the eye making landfall 35 to 40 miles further east than the NHC is currently showing:

If the Southern Appalachian mountains have more influence on the storm direction than the cold front low pressure system it could get interesting. What I see is a potential for upslope conditions from Georgia up through the Carolinas. I do not have a background in weather forecasting but the slide along the eastern face of a mountain chain of a CCW rotating storm is an often observable phenomena.

There is a strong upper level low pushing down from Canada into the Central plain states and that is the reason Helene is forecast to take the hard left at the TN-KY line. It will eventually be absorbed by that low out over KS-NE it is believed.

That’s their prediction but there are a lot of hills in the way of that path…..
I do know that if the predicted path changes and causes a delay along the mountains the ground is already soaked to capacity and runoff will be extreme meaning flooding in the mountains could be catastrophic.

Just reviewed a noaa historical track map of all hurricanes and two things stand out.
If I were a betting man with the landfall already sliding a bit east of original predictions and the current outer bands stopping along the mountains I’d say that left hook aint gonna happen.
It appears that this one is going to come in at the Big Bend area. That used to be a rarity. Big Bend was considered to be a place that hurricanes died. This makes the 2nd one in two years.
The NHC still shows Idalia was a CAT III at landfall. It was not. No land station had CAT III wind sustained for 1 minute. But still I came ashore right in the Big Bend.

The pager attack, as we all know, was stunningly successful, much to the chagrin of the Israel haters. According to Hezbollah’s internal documents, 879 Hezbollah members and 291 senior commanders died, presumably because the confined blasts (which left civilians virtually unscathed) severed their femoral arteries.
However, what was more important than the deaths were the injuries. Over 500 Hezbollah troops were blinded, over 1,700 hundred had their genitalia damaged (badly, one presumes), 613 had “permanent function damage” (whatever that means), and several thousand more were badly hurt.
It’s those several thousand who affect Hezbollah’s fighting ability. Soldiers will fight through death. However, injured men require a lot of resources, and they’re demoralizing. Even when surrounded by death, we all imagine that we will live, especially if we’re young. That seems to be a human survival mechanism. However, that mechanism does not kick in for injuries. Soldiers can all too readily imagine losing hands, reproductive organs, eyes, etc. They cease to be enthusiastic fighters when their imaginations run amok.
But Israel has done more than demoralize Hezbollah. It’s destroyed all of Hezbollah’s leadership. Over the past few days, through the pager attacks and other targeted strikes, Hassan Nasrallah, an Iranian agent who is Hezbollah’s secretary-general, has lost all his military leaders and advisors.

My girls in Daytona Beach finally got a generator. I’ve been after them to get one for a while. Told them I’d pay for it. Things are tough for them financially because of Niki’s cancer. Laura wouldn’t do it! Finally I told them that either they pick one out or I’ll buy one and have it delivered!
So Laura talked to a neighbor that has one and figured out what she needed and got it and the extension cords and gas cans.
I know it has to have given them some peace of mind and it sure has given Sherry and I some.
have that neighbor school them in safety, like not refilling with gas when the manifold is hot, that kinda thing
Like most of them these days, the tank is on top covering the whole engine area. I’ve filled my while running with no problem. Laura is smart and actually a pretty good mechanic so I really don’t have any worries of that type.

Fortunately, I am on one of the milder Chemo regimes, and they seem to have the nausea issues well in hand, the downside being the Rx anti-nausea meds make me sleep alot.
Finishing up my first week of chemo/rad, then 2 weeks of JUST rad, then another week of both, two weeks of Rad, and a final week of both.
I am eating well, my appetites up, and am walking several miles/day, and am upbeat, and I know I have people rooting for me.

-US with 11 EU and other nations issue a statement that there must be a ceasefire in Lebanon now. Essentially defending Hezbollah.
CNN reports that this is serious and Bibi is negotiating it. false report from Sky News that a ceasefire was approved is duplicated world wide (fake news). Office of Prime Minister Bibi is denying any report that a ceasefire is about to happen. Bibi is in the US so the Office is not necessarily aware of all the details. Major uproar in Israel with most citizens, media and parties in the government and opposition protesting the potential stop of the war mid a momentum of the IDF. Lebanon Prime Minister signed a ceasefire agreement. He has no power over Lebanon. Hezbollah is the power in Lebanon. This is a dirty trick to pressure Israel from Biden and his allies.
To summarize it all : “The World against an Israeli victory over Jihad.”
They pretend that it’s “for the citizens”.
-Israeli government coalition partner of Bibi, Itamar Ben Gvir of his Jewish Power Party (a very right wing party) is stating that a temporary cease fire in Lebanon will cause him to withdraw all his Coalition responsibilities such as coordinated votes in parliament,etc… and a permanent ceasefire will lead him to quit and break the government sending Israel to elections. He is publicly criticizing Netanyahu saying that he is reflecting weakness and one doesn’t give help to an enemy that is on the knees but one defeats the enemy. Saying that any such ceasefires will indicate that “Netanyahu is not committed to a victory. “
Note: a delay now will push the problem to future generations or just future months.
-Israel published a complete command structure of Hezbollah and indicates that all of them have been eliminated aside from Nassrallah their Supreme leader. A week ago it was their Chief of all missiles operations and today another strike in Beirut aimed at their Chief of all Drone operations. Hezbollah is penetrated and Mossad knows where they are in real time. This won’t last forever. Israel should use it to defeat them and change the reality on the ground. Genocidal Jihadi terror organizations should not be “contained” like happened in Gaza for decades.
-The IDF is still pounding Hezbollah. There are also many missiles coming to Israel. So far aside for a one badly injured and one moderately injured yesterday, there are no more published injuries that are more than “light” in Israel. Thank you God.
-Note: For all fairness, it’s hard to formulate an opinion when one doesn’t have all the data.
There is a certain optics but there are factors that are not known such as “what threats exactly did Biden level at Israel?”
“What is the actual munition situation of the IDF?”
“What is the actual plan of Netanyahu?”
But this trip to the UN (and US) appears that he is involving diplomacy when it is time for war.
Wrong timing.
He will show that he is playing the game and giving chance to a talk and then move as he wishes with some understanding in the world that it’s not our fault. If this is the case it is very bad. It’s demoralizing the soldiers who are prepared to move in and losing the momentum that can cost many lives. Extending the back and forth that is both exhausting the Israeli Society and economy.
Only time will tell what is really happening. Stay tuned.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Be with me – Lord – refresh me – renew me;
This pain and discomfort – really threw me;
Jesus, come quickly – come quickly, I pray;
Let this doubt not take hold – unravel – fray!
Oh, precious, incorruptible Blood of the Lamb;
Encompass me – protect me – the sinner I am;
