Genetic tracing of market wildlife and viruses at the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic
Summary
Zoonotic spillovers of viruses have occurred through the animal trade worldwide.
The start of the COVID-19 pandemic was traced epidemiologically to the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market.
Here, we analyze environmental qPCR and sequencing data collected in the Huanan market in early 2020.
We demonstrate that market-linked severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) genetic diversity is consistent with market emergence and find increased SARS-CoV-2 positivity near and within a wildlife stall.
We identify wildlife DNA in all SARS-CoV-2-positive samples from this stall, including species such as civets, bamboo rats, and raccoon dogs, previously identified as possible intermediate hosts.
We also detect animal viruses that infect raccoon dogs, civets, and bamboo rats. Combining metagenomic and phylogenetic approaches, we recover genotypes of market animals and compare them with those from farms and other markets.
This analysis provides the genetic basis for a shortlist of potential intermediate hosts of SARS-CoV-2 to prioritize for serological and viral sampling.

Considering how easily the virus spreads among animals of many species, -WHERE- was SARS-CoV-2 in nature in China when it was first discovered in humans if it supposedly came FROM nature? ***It should have been all over the place.***
Excerpts from that 2021 Dr. Quay statement PDF relevant to the now widespread animal transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in the US originating from human contact and now apparently occurring within animal species:
Second, none of the environmental specimens from the market had the earliest virus meaning they came into the market. This included 1055 samples of frozen food in the market, all of which tested negative for COVID.
Third, 457 animals from Huanan market were tested; all were negative for COVID. 616 animals from suppliers to the market were tested; all were negative. 1864 wild animals from Southern China of the type found in the market were tested for COVID and were all negative.
Failing to find it in any market in Wuhan, the search was expanded to all of China. But after testing 80,000 samples from 209 different species from other markets, farms, and nature, the virus has not been found in a single specimen. The probability of this for a community-acquired infection is about one in a million. This is what you expect for a lab-acquired infection.
After testing 9952 stored human blood specimens from hospitals in Wuhan from before December 2019, there was not a single case of COVID in any specimen. It was expected that between 100 and 400 would be positive. The probability of this for a community-acquired infection is also about one in a million. This is what you expect for a lab-acquired infection.

You actually have no way to know how the “poll” obtained its “results.” Tell me what you want the “poll results” to be, and I will sell you a poll which does so. “Easy peasy.”
Never(!) underestimate the power of “crowd psychology.” There will always be lemmings who want to be told where the rest of the lemmings are going. They quite-seriously don’t care where it leads. They have no desire to think. They want to follow.
This very-curious aspect has been extensively studied. Even though Humans proclaim themselves to be “independent,” they are in fact “herd animals.” If you gather as few as ten-or-so people together, they will instinctively select a “leader” and then follow that leader.
Example in point: COVID – 6 feet apart; masks; testing up the nose; the jab, etc.

I think(!) I trust Rasmussen, but from what I can see, polling is more art than science, especially in the current circumstances where the US population is not a melting pot, but many immiscible groups of people with divergent views.
BTW, the 8 points quoted above is from their daily tracking poll, with about 400 people. It has a 5pt margin of error, meaning it “bounces” around quite a bit. A smoothed version is more accurate, and that shows PDJT with about a 2 pt advantage in the national popular vote. For context, PDJT lost the popular vote by about 2.5% in 2016 (but of course won the electoral college). The problem for dems is there are more states that vote for PDJT, and a few (NY, west coast e.g. CA) where the dems collect a lot of votes. These days, that means a dem who is not winning by 2-3% in the national popular vote is probably losing the electoral college.
If people want to get into the weeds, Mark Mitchell (aka Rasmussen’s lead pollster) has a weekly video. In today’s video, he goes over why some of the polls are worse than wrong:

First, I was rather surprised that Georgia wasn’t listed, as his logo looks

Here’s a partial list of where they operate. Again, Georgia wasn’t on the list, but one
town that they would have to travel through Atlanta to reach is.

A few other points. Springfield residents might have something to help address
this issue. It might take someone from Clark county to bring people up to speed
in ways that it’s handled in Ohio.
King George has 43 delapidated, overcrowded properties in Springfield. The chances
that they pass codes is slim, less , or none. Also the chances that the problems presented
by the properties is sky high. Public nuisance lawsuits filed through civil courts might
be a way to address it.
YTG has some past history with trying to achieve this goal. I lived next to crack ville in
my old neighborhood for almost 5 years. Next to 48 units that had 15 different owners.
All 4 plexes. Georgia law states that a public nuisance is anything that is handled in a
manner that prevents you from enjoying your home . Could be noise, could be loitering,
could be drug sales, could be criminal activity, could be prostitution. Could be discharge
of firearms in a residential area. Can also include improper, unsafe maitenance of buildings.
My neighbors fit every description I just listed. Each 4 plex was worth, roughly 80k at the
time. I was trying (unsuccessfully) to have mass filings in civil court against each property
owner. I talked to 15 people in the effort. If we had taken the landlords to court ( and won),
we would have been awarded 6500 APIECE for each of the properties. That would’ve come
to each of the 15 walking away with 97,500, taken into account the numbers of properties
failed against.
What gave me the idea was this . Next neighborhood over a gay couple filed suit against their
crack house neighbors, and gained title to the property.
Going back to the list of where King George operate. Charlotte. Anybody seen any First Diversity
logos around town. Even more interesting. Maybe someone needs to tell Sundance this one.

The Justice Department revealed on Wednesday that 76-year-old Panos Anastasiou was arrested Wednesday for threatening to assassinate six members of the Supreme Court and harm two family members. Moreover, Anastasiou also allegedly threatened to kidnap and torture the justices while encouraging other people to join him in committing acts of violence.
According to the indictment, Anastasiou sent more than 465 messages between January and July to the Supreme Court via an online portal. As CBS notes, these messages had violent, racist, and homophobic rhetoric.
The outlet noted that in one message, Anastasiou said he would kill one justice by “providing the rope” to “hang … from an Oak tree.” Another on May 10 stated he would lynch the same justice.
