I disagree with the premise that Trump will not be allowed, because from my position I am watching the Deep State assemble insurance policies against a Trump victory actually taking place. the key is to focus on a system whereby no matter what mechanism is used to choose politocal power, the people have inalienable rights which a government, a mob, a corporation or any other entity can violate only at the strong risk of swift, extreme retribution and strong chance of utter annihiliation.
The further government is located from the people who “elect” it, the more likely those in whatever system is in place are apt to become unaccountable and tyrannical.
That is the conclusion I’ve reached; and in my opinion we have reached that point in this country.

I continued to listen to see how long it would take him work up enough Vaseline to slide in the. . .

Weinstein actually addresses that people think he is arrogant and overbearing later in the conversation. There’s a lot of conversation about physics that gets in the weeds and is only understandable to those in that field. He is a big name dropper which is offputting too. He clearly thinks he is really interesting. He is actually earnest, seems sincere, and has an open mind that seeks to understand. The best part is the first ten minutes.

I think Sundance previously compared Donald Trump to a foreign body the globalist immune system tries to fight off. That became a more vivid image with Weinstein’s reference to Mr. Trump as the first presidential candidate unacceptable to the global order since WWII. He’s unique in more ways than I realized. It’s as if I can see and hear the global system’s red lights and sirens when Mr Trump came on the political scene… getting louder as he persisted in it.
Uh…I’ve heard at least 5 or 6 podcasters* I regularly listen to wonder who is running the country, starting back in the winter of this year and intensifying now to asking it almost every day.

Sundance, you called upon us to listen to the first 10 minutes of the Eric Weinstein interview…but I found the last ten minutes equally compelling because in those final minutes Weinstein offers his opinion of J.D. Vance, who he says genuinely cares about the working poor in this country and the hillbilly culture from which he sprang. The high regard Weinstein, a lifelong Democrat, has for Vance was in stark contrast to the Dem elites, who Weinstein says abandoned the poor, white working class in America.

Wish I had more than one up vote. It is easy to miss this focus in the interview. Weinstein is very convincing and he is correct in his portrayal of how the parties have worked for many decades. He is correct that populism may bring down a pillar or two supporting structures. If those pillars are holding up totally corrupt structures, it is no great loss. I think it is pretty clear the corruption in many of our institutions is top to bottom and any true reform will require gutting parts of the house. Their will be upheaval and their will be people losing jobs that are not accustomed to that possibility.
We must cut government deeply because the debt is not sustainable. The government has a lot of fat. Some judicious cuts could make it viable again. Right now, the reason there is all this talk of taxing the rich is because they can’t tax the poor and middle classes anymore or they will starve. Some are starving already.
So, if we were them, we’d clutch our pearls too. But nobody is guaranteed a cushy position in life just because of their IQ or their position or their heritage. We need to return to a meritocracy and a manufacturing base. We need to get the bean counters out of the hair of the workers and the thinkers. The real economy needs to get back to rewarding those who produce and not those with the right ideology or the right words or corporate clout.
