We live in a rural area in NC with many small farms. There’s always been a well established Spanish speaking community here, and the usual ebb/flow of labor depending on crops. Temporary housing is scattered about. But much has changed this last year to eyes that are paying attention. Temp farm labor housing is now always full and the men milling around, playing soccer, working on cars. Long time owners of well kept ranch homes are leaving or dying and the yards quickly fill with 4 or five cars and trucks.
This week I’m in a nearby suburban area near a highway, of new homes built on an old farm.. Modest but expensive (400k-500k) mostly young commuting families. Over night, one brand new home now has four pickups with hispanic young men coming and going daily, clearly a few families living there with their kids playing in the streets. Another house, quiet, but women with hajibs coming and going – we’ve seen no men around during the day.
We’ve family in a wealthy suburb of Raleigh known for very low crime over the decades – A home break-in or fist fight is huge news there. . Their neighbor was driving with his four kids last week when a guy on a motorcycle pulled along side and pointed a pistol in his window. (not a peep on the news about it).
It’s starting to sound like a different type of community organizer is needed. One with a Special Forces background in training locals in ways to organize and defend their homes from commies and criminals.
Mike Glover did just that. SOF Green Beret MSgt. and See Eye Eh contractor founded American Contingency for that purpose. The purpose was to help people in their communities to prepare for disasters that may include, but not exclusively for civil unrest.

Many of them also got what I heard them describe as “Biden bucks” during the last few years. The black M.A.s in my spouses medical office were talking about them and how they got hair , nails and butt lifts with them.
MA’s – medical assistants?
Yes, sorry. Did you know that you only have to have be a High School graduate to be one? The MA is the person clinicians are relying on to take your vitals and health history and medication history as well as preparing all of your testing/images . It used to be the job of an RN or LPN that had years of medical training. And people wonder why the health care system is in such a shambles.
I spent the greater part of July bedside in hospital, those included 14 days in the Cardiac Surgical ICU, noted and am amazed at the skills of the RNs. Things I saw them do I thought only doctors did.
A position that takes basic duties of vitals, health hx etc off RN shoulders is smart.
MAs VETTED, trained and supervised is a great start to possibly higher goals. IMO.
As a former RN I can tell you that an accurate health history and medication list is VITAL and even more vital is getting the results of recent test/images in the doctors hands — crucial in a system where they have 5 minutes for each patient. Taking a person’s vitals is more than just the number, its a rapid assessment of a persons, skin color, hydration, temperature , affect, eye contact, and smell. All things that an experienced RN needs to determine the status of a persons health. MA’s that only care about what they are ordering for lunch are woefully inadequate.
Accuracy is important always I agree. The nice women who ordered my husband’s meals came from the food services department/kitchen.
As a patient I can tell you Doctors today suck…..Do not keep up with the latest in their field…Are controlled by the state medical board….Think there is a pill for everything or a test to see if you might have “anything” wrong…Which they can’t fix or cure. Lastly younger doctors have no empathy….don;t even know what it is. Quacks one and all. The exception was my regular Doctor in his 70’s retired at 80. Doctors were trained different back in the day and he was excellent.

As far as health histories…I am against them doing anything more than the basic…they are not tuned in to what sort of responses might need to initiate a more complex exploration of the patients history….
They want unskilled workers doing the nurse’s job so the salary paid is far less. That is one of the things that the behind the scenes action in the Affordable Care Act pushed for and the professional nursing orgs. all got on board after dancing in the hallways…it was to entice big business to get on board the disguised socialist medicine. and take control of 20% of the economy.
In 1981, there was discussion of the ‘nursing shortage’ and how to tackle it, all the way to having doctors hire their own nurses to care for their hospitalized patients…that went no where….many things were discussed except the most common and acceptable….proper nurse patient ratios and higher pay.
Aside from burns and corrections…and plain ol’ ICU, I did CVICU….so yes…an amazing place.
Since our July experience, I pray every night for those mostly young girls and guys in the CSICU. I think about their long almost lonely, beeping nights, watching over people who are connected, drained, ventilated, soiled ….
I tear (now) when I think of their youth and am in so much appreciation for what they are doing (during their youth!). They are saving lives, dealing with surgeries that didn’t go well, staying upbeat (likely in anger) and making things better for the patient. I see their love and understand how they enjoy being unique.

It explains why a young MA couldn’t take my blood pressure correctly with some new gadget the office had just added. By the time a slightly better one took over, I felt my anxiety hit, and I was “branded” with a high blood pressure result for the first time.
It led to all this:
The “office” (there’s no real doctor anymore as far as I can see) told me the next time they were going to put me on high blood pressure meds (I said no way).
This was despite the fact that I have had rather low blood pressure my entire life, and up until middle age been prone to fainting as a result of it. Totally harmless since I go limp – never got hurt. Since middle age blood pressure has been dead normal, sometimes slightly low.
I went home and started limiting salt in general, because that way I figured I’d get them off my back next time.
A month or so later, no doubt related to the lowering of salt, I ended up getting dehydrated and fainting again for the first time in decades at a local fair, which of course led to an expensive ambulance ride and tests (my guy insisted I go with it because of my age).
I was fine as soon as I got adequate liquids (knew I would be). It only proved to me that I could/should go on moderating my salt by instinct/taste, as always (medium – I don’t like anything over-salty).
All tests since, my blood pressure has been perfect normal again. And of course no more fainting despite being the very same amount dehydrated many times since.
There’s really no alternative these days except to know your own body, get educated, do the right stuff with food and supplements and exercise, and don’t let them get you on meds you don’t need!
If you get a high reading with them using an electronic blood pressure device, demand they do it the old fashioned way…hand pumped blood pressure cuff with the dial on it and the nurse using her stethoscope in her own ears….
I have noticed that those devices often produce higher numbers.
RN jobs…now the pharmacist gives injections….
And….they get government grants to go a year of training but end up owing $6000 for a job that pays little over minimum wage. So yes…they are screwed as well.

We should abolish those tax credits. The earned income credit gives money back you never paid in the first place.
And the child tax credit gives people back more than they paid and is denied for any child that is 17 even for a day of a tax year meaning that many families are ineligible starting Sophomore year of HS. Add to that, many families who actually pay taxes don’t qualify for the tax credit because they earn too much while those who pay no income tax gets thousands in free money every year.
We should have a flat tax that everyone pays and get rid of these gimmicks that are used by scammers to make money and reward those who don’t work or have kids out of wedlock.
Add to it NOCARE where credits are based on income…..No incentive to make more money because healthcare is so high…..then they charge seniors over $200 out of their SS check for medicare while a young couple with 2 earners has to pay basically 0 for their NOCARE. So screwed up. Notice how healthcare reform is no longer talked about and still a huge issue….cause now we are in a live or die moment in our history with a cluster **** of other issues to deal with.

Some weeks ago on this site someone posted pictures of two receipts after [border crosser] owners had made purchases using their government cards. If you look around most cities – including small and mid-sized — you see this strange phenomenon of apartment construction.
It’s been happening for a decade or so – they are building way more apartments than would be needed in the town/city area almost as if they were planning to bring in people to fill them.
It never made any sense until recently. The number of apartments exceeded the local population or job market and yet they kept building these big complexes.
I’ve seen them in several states in several areas in different states, and have been noting people commenting on the phenomenon in internet comment sections from all over the US including the mid-South, mid-Atlantic, midwest, PNW and mountain states.
Last year, our subdivision successfully fought our city planners who were looking to give the ok to let a builder build a one of these 90 unit monstrosities in the 25 acre field right behind our house. City Hall was packed and myself and 15 or so others spoke out against it.
National Capitol Planning Commission plans to turn the former fbi building in Washington DC into a mixed use building to house more foreigners. Streets and sidewalks will have tents with sellers of goods and food as seen in Asia and the middle east.
Yes and I see subsidized apartments being built as well and I would think that was a good thing except we don’t have as many locals in need as they are building it for.
It’s likely section 8, subsidized housing paid by taxpayer government funding.
When we bought our home in Las Vegas early in 08 it was a quiet family suburban neighborhood. As the collapse continued most of the families lost their homes and were bought up by corporations that filled them with section 8 renters.
In no time these neighborhood homes had drug dealing in the driveways, and lots of police calls. Not working, just hanging around with a dozen or more in a house.
We installed security doors and moved to the country. Best decision we ever made.

While Zelensky offered no details about why he fired Oleschuk, the now-former Air Force commander’s comments were in response to a statement by a senior member of Ukraine’s parliament that Mes was killed in an act of friendly fire.

Data is beginning to trickle out that — unsurprisingly — foods that we ate for millenia are better for us than foods manufactured artificially. Lard is healthy for you, crisco (cottonseed oil) isn’t, just as an example. Basic logic says that our bodies aren’t adapted to eating cotton. Remember when they tried to claim that they could make better formula in a lab than a woman’s breastmilk? Laughable right? But millions beleived them.
As a 33 year former vegetarian I can tell you of an absolute certainty that vegetarianism does not prevent high blood pressure or heart disease. Since going carnivore in the last year my blood pressure has dropped to normal and I am off of all medications. I also lost over 50 pounds without even trying. Beef, bacon, butter and eggs is the diet for good health.
Every bit of information that I had been taught concerning diet was false. It took years to overcome the false ideas, but now my health has greatly improved.

Healthy fats make you feel full and the feeling stays for a long time. Therefore, you eat less and less often.

US real estate taxes are increased based upon what a neighbor’s property sold for even though not an equal comparison.

The recent biography of Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxsis–entitled Bonhoeffer — is so fine. I’ve read my tattered copy/all marked up and cross-referenced, several times, and have given copies to both my sons.
The essential themes he narrates have not changed.
Interesting to recall, as Bonhoeffer, LIVED, that Hitler encouraged the ongoing activitie of the church and wanted his generals showing up at their congregations. It kept the perception of the status quo right where he wanted it. And it suited his purpose, of course, that the status quo in the German Lutheran Church was corrupt, one of the things that Dietrich Bonhoeffer worked against.

I installed a new browser and it had “news” section. So I did click on the “news” icon! I did search on Donald Trump and what I experienced made me want to vomit! Page after page of Anti-Trump news articles from MSM … it made my heart get “mad” and “depressed”.
You know what I did next! I turned off the browser with the “news” and I set my timer to 15 minutes and prayed and mediated just asking GOD to fill me with “GOD’S Spirit” , and I started to feel good again. Then images of my childhood came up and I could see how I was tortured when I was forced to go to school, and forced to sit in those chairs and listen to the garbage my teachers were teaching us. I was FORCED and I acted like a clown or other passive agressive ways to “stop the madness of the indoctrination”! But it never stopped! Year after year of this garbage , and I was given tests and to pass I had to vomit what teachers said was correct answer. If NOT, I was given bad marks, and teacher would bully me to be a “good little boy”.

Watching the news a few hours ago, brought up long lost memories from my childhood.

On Sundance’s post about the FBI. We don’t need an FBI. There is no useful constitutional purpose for one.
What we might benefit from however, is a sort of national Interpol. There is a common database, forensics labs, economic forensic experts, etc. Actual arrests must be performed by the local or state police in question at the direction of state officials.
There is no federal oversight or funding. Each state voluntarily participates and funds.
Obviously this concept would need some fleshing out.
It’s part of my overall plan for de-policing the federal government. Another part is replacing national income tax with taxing the states. Each state can decide how to pay its share of the federal budget. IRS goes away.
Every State already has some sort of “Bureau of Investigation” or in the case of states like TX or AZ “Rangers” who perform FBI like duties as well as States who nest these abilities within their State Police Forces.
The only “National Level Law Enforcement” that would be remotely related to the Constitution are those related Interstate Commerce and Protecting the Borders.
The States are already required to have Constitutions that reflect and recognize the rights and authorities in the US Constitution.
The Federal Courts are supposed to ensure consistency with the Constitution.
Yet there, in reality, there needs to be some sort of national level “domestic law enforcement entity” to help standardize and support actions across state boundaries … but with no power to investigate or police.
Even the US Marshall Service was originally established to provide law enforcement in US Territories but not the Federated States as well as to act as a Bridge between states when needed.
The FBI is not needed and the DoJ also needs to have it’s fangs pulled to limit it to supporting functions reserved to the Federal Government.
So I think we’re basically in agreement? As I envision this, it’s not law enforcement. It’s more of a crime lab.
I see value in states having access to each others databases to identify patterns of crime by serial killers or gangs. Criminal organizations are not limited by state lines, hence the idea behind a formalized collaborations.
Again, purely voluntary, and federal goverment has nothing whatever to do with it.
Yes we are in agreement … however the “voluntary” part is a questionable idea. We have pedophiles and criminals being employed even after background checks because databases are NOT shared due to interstate and national legal issues.
While conversely the State of NY, during the COVID Shamdemic, had the FBI files of NY Teachers and State Employees refusing COVID Injections marked with a Criminal Activity Flag. Those flags remain to this day.
