Am I the only one who finds Lex totally unimpressive?
Not trying to be mean spirited, but I don’t get why he’s as popular as he is.
He lets his interviewees talk and shine while remaining mostly in the background while being willing to ask the “dumb” questions to really get to the heart of their thought. Lex does shine more on technology/science topics, but does cover politics a fair bit and also has a long term goal that he mentions frequently of interviewing Vladmir Putin
I think Lex’s thought is a bit like Elon Musk’s (one of his friends) but he tries too hard to be “balanced” and ends up a few years behind him. Lex has made comments recently about the arrest of Pavel Durov being a huge threat to free speech everywhere and he also made strongly supportive comments in favor of Trump after the assassination attempt.

I don’t know anything about Lex’s podcast. I never heard of the man until Sundance posted this.
What I found refreshing about the man is probably what you found “totally unimpressive.” I’ll throw out a few positives:
His voice is very easy on the ears. The tone is calm and pleasant. Non-aggressive. Words are enunciated so the listener doesn’t have to work to understand. Some of us are very sensitive to sound. I have to turn away from the highly animated voices, the shrieking, the jarring outbursts, the giggling, yelling, angry rants, often foul language, etc.
He’s direct. I realize he had prepared questions for the interview. However, the way he delivered those questions, without chuckling or making cute remarks or other tics, tells me he probably doesn’t pepper his airtime with antics meant to show off his personality. People who don’t want to waste their time may be drawn to his concise directness and serious tone.
Different strokes. I, for one, don’t always want to be entertained. Just give me the damn information, ideas and your opinion with reasoning. Heh.
Those are a few guesses why he’s popular from someone who has never watched his podcasts, other than this one.

I saw online that he was born in Russia. It also says that he is a scientist from MIT.
He seemed very robotic, to me.
Watch some of his other interviews. I highly recommend the Balaji Srinivasan and Michael Saylor ones – they are both outstanding. The one with Balaji (Trump nominated him for the FDA head) is 7.5 hours!
I agree with all your points. Easy voice, and good demeanor. I liked that they both moved from topic to topic at the end of a question or answer. It was fluid. I too do not want to be entertained, but I want a deep thinker to think deeply. He should have seen the evidence; video, data analysis, and forensic analysis of the 2020 election. There is No evidence other than the brow beating by the DNC and MSM that would suggest a fair an honest election!

He is aware of where he thinks and knows of what he considers his personal ‘shortcomings’ albeit somewhat harder on himself – yet very positive and confident sharing with the person who asked him for some insights on realistic processes involved – done with humility, perhaps perceived as bland (unimpressive?).
His narration of ‘If’ by Rudyard Kipling is the best I’ve heard with conviction which suggests belief from experience; strength of character with a focused awareness of what it takes to live by it.
Agree with you on the voices. My ears don’t register the frequency of Alex Jones, the speed of Charlie Kirk, nor a few others. Whether I agree or not, I can’t listen to their voices.

I’m afraid that you lack an appreciation of intelligence that is expressed in a serene, cool manner. His interviews with people of note are insightful, expansive, fair and never intrusive in a negative fashion. He is one of the very best 7 interviewers I have watched.

Disagree… Lex’s podcast is great. He shines when discussing technology and science. I think that he genuinely tries to remain fair to all sides of a controversial issue. That said, I take him with a grain of salt on select topics like religion and politics. But dang, give him some credit for at least giving Trump a platform.

This last category, those who are eligible but don’t vote, constitutes roughly 50% of the population, and typically both wings of the Uniparty do NOT try to court them.
We can already ascertain that he has made significant inroads to traditionally democrat voters, by several different metrics, one of which is rally attendees, where he is gathering priceless DATA, which not only shows the % of his audience that are registered Dems, it shows how many are in this potentially YUGE demographic of traditionally non-voters.
He is leaving no stone unturned, seeking to get every voter he can, and “leave it all on the field”.
As I think about the data collected from rally goers, WHY they have tried to stop him from having rallys, and WHY he has continued, is clarified somewhat; he uses that data to help him direct his campaign strategy.
Its like those ‘snap polls’ he conducts, right at the rallys which he says are more valuable than what he pays some pollster $250,000 for.
And there is the main point – this is an audience outside Trump’s base.
So, Lex Fridman is huge in the podcast industry and others who are huge, most notably Chris Voss, has been simultaneously planting negatives about Trump and positives about Fridman over the past six months.
I’ve been a huge Chris Voss fan and now I realize that he is nothing more than an IC asset.

I greatly enjoyed the interview, but the revealing postlude I found riveting…for those that are interested.
Lex, like most people in his generation, has been massively propagandized to view non-Democrats as fascists,
yet he’s well on his way to seeing through this, as are figures like Joe Rogan, and Bill Maher.
To his credit, Lex’s interview philosophy is indeed the correct format, i.e., allow the interviewee a wide expanse so
as to feel comfortable enough to reveal about himself what most interviews would never elicit, and what the interviewee
would never have thought of revealing.
There’s something genuine about Lex, and he’s to be commended for conducting an open-ended, honest interview that places the interviewee on center stage, not the interviewer.
Hate? That’s an extreme and completely incorrect inference.
I see no hate here at all. I don’t like many things but to say “don’t like” = “hate”would be highly inaccurate.
I don’t like a LOT of tv shows or podcasters for a variety of reasons but virtually none of the moderate or conservatives podcasters have ever engendered “hatred” on my part.
It’s simply a matter of personal taste for style and substance.
Learn to discern the shades of gray. Things are rarely black or white.

One of the most boring, uninteresting, overhyped interviewers that I have ever heard of. I have no problem with Trump going there, though. (Gotta get those votes, no?) There was a time when you would go on YouTube and the only thing you would see on your recommended tab would be his boring interviews. Even when you didn’t watch anything.
I salute Trump anyway for trying to broaden the electorate, but I will never like Friedman.

In the interview, President Trump said this country is missing ‘religion’ or faith. I think he was strongly influenced by his parents’ faith – particularly his Mother’s. I have heard Melania is a faithful Catholic with a strong faith.

I will opine that the majority of progressive democrats are some of the most twisted and miserably unhappy people here in the US.
One has to be aware of others and to have the precious gift of empathy for them if that person aspires to positions of leadership. It is something President Trump has in abundance.
Compassion cannot exist in a soul which is empty and cold.
I have yet to see a Democrat who would admit that his or lack of compassion is a severe moral defect which utterly disqualifies any of them for any such position of leadership, especially as President of these now Disunited States.

President Trump was guarded while talking with Fridman. He used his spidey sense. Who knows what Fridman really thinks about anything or who he panders to, but I think he’s a middle of the roader. Hear what Fridman said about his independent friends’ and their opinions and questions.
Being an independent on the fence may now seem to them like an easy way to justify not making an informed decision when it is just coasting along.

He documents those in Congress and their connections to Communist/Revoluntionary groups and groups that are connected. The name of a group isn’t consistent with their ideology.

It’s interesting to watch President Trump’s spiritual journey . It’s clear to us that God has used and protected him .

Trump is getting outspent 10-1 on TV ads in swing states by Kamala. She is saturating the airwaves.
I question whether Trump’s campaign knows what they’re doing relying on these podcasts seemingly instead.
70% of independents in these must win swing states are unfamiliar with Kamala’s far left radical policy positions. That is going to require substantial TV ads to reach and inform these voters. So far it’s not happening.
Those commercials aren’t’ moving opinions.
I have seen the same ad run twice in the same commercial break. In the course of a hour show, you’ll see the same as 10 times. When you saturate the airwaves the way she is, I think most people tune them all out. Even worse, it becomes annoying.
Getting millions of viewers on podcasts., and younger demographic.
Commercial time is expensive, and much smaller audience.

The first podcast PDJT did he said his son Baron told him to do it because Baron was a friend of the podcaster. I found that very interesting. PDJT IMO looked tired as if he has been burning the midnight oil, which of course he is. I also noticed that for this interview that he has colored his hair to look less grey. My daughter keeps telling me that he is too old to be president and that we need younger people to run for that office. In her opinion people near 70 or older don’t have any energy. (eye roll from me) She will vote for PDJT though for to do otherwise is stupid.

I enjoyed this interview/conversation very much. Fridman asked interesting questions and Trump missed no opportunity to hammer his story “Biden and Kamala bad, Trump good”. Great stuff seeing a master salesman at work.

I found it difficult to listen to this interview so I quit pretty early. Thought the Lex guy (never heard of him before) asked direct questions, but was surprised to find myself annoyed that he never got direct answer to his questions. Just my opinion. Please don’t stone me.

I think he was avoiding the “Gotcha questions” by this young left leaning person. I think PDJT did his research on Lex before accepting the invitation because he said he never asked for these types of interviews.
PDJT also leaves the listening audience everywhere questioning his religious leanings, IMHO, so he is not beholden to any one group as a campaign strategy. His goal is unity after all, and our country is very diversified in its beliefs. I take for example the question on the use of drugs for recreation and the statement by Lex that congress should use mushrooms. We all know how PDJT feels about drugs, drinking and smoking because of his brother’s addiction to alcohol and its detriment to his health. As in this interview PDJT looked like he towed a center line. He is fishing for the young independent voter and if they learn afterwards his real opinion then too bad for them. PDJT needs to patch up the seams in this country and he is going to use any method at his disposal that gets the job done; Until he gets into a position where he can make a difference, again by any means necessary. If they then call him a liar he can just say, “that’s politics.” He never outright lies though.

I have never watched or listened to Lex Fridman, however I have heard about him.
It was quite an informative and enjoyable podcast. President Trump was magnificent, speaking truth to power in a wonderful tone set by his host.

Yes, the number of “know-it-all” comments and snide insults is disconcerting.
For what it is worth, Lex interviewed both Ivanka and Jared Kushner, at different times. Both those interviews went for multiple hours, so you need time to get through them. They give some insight into the first term, but may not be relevant this time around (God willing), because neither will be involved in the gov’t.
The Kushner interview was AMAZING and IRONICALLY just before the Oct 7 massacre….. and he then brought Jared back shortly afterwards for hind site……

Huh? Folks, this essentially means President Trump is completely ignorant of the fact that the “stick” foreign policy America has used since the end of WW II around the world causes more problems than it ever solved. He is punting in this interview because he has no plan other than using a stick (our military and war) if he has to because he isn’t seeing that real problem at home and in the world is American hegemony using a stick. (Also notice in this and other interviews that when he doesn’t know the subject matter he starts attacking his opponents to change the subject.)
The rest of the world is walking – no running – away from America for this exact reason. America is pariah. The U.S. dollar and our standard of living will soon collapse because of our stick (war) approach and nobody seems to have a plan or give a hoot. Interviewers need to as HARD questions and they are not. Where is the intellectual curiosity?
Please don’t stop prepping and stockpiling because it is even more likely that you will need those provisions and supplies to save your family members because it is unlikely that President Trump will solve much of anything if all he does is try to use more of the same failed foreign policy currently in use.

Perhaps a small example would be useful to help you understand the real America the way the rest of the world sees it. What about 800+ U.S. military bases (many with bio weapons labs) all over the world stirring up the next series of wars to enrich the military industrial complex? These same American strongholds are dictating what small countries must do to curry favor with the U.S. like what to plant and how much to plant. They cannot buy and use good fertilizers known to work to produce abundant crops that can feed their people. Instead they must use fertilizers that are approved by the American government that do not produce abundant crops and the result is starvation in these vassal states of America all over the world. These vassal states also slowly suck taxpayer money dry while the needs of Americans at home are ignored. These vassal states must accept and promote morally reprehensible behavior in their children. And if they fail to bend to the will of the United States, they are punished through good ole American Sanctions or direct action removing (disappearing) and / or imprisoning those who would dissent. Is that your notion of peace through strength? Maybe its us, but your response indicates a superficial understanding of reality that is more indicative of someone simply following the crowd or is that mob? Have you looked at a world map to see where actual farm tillable land is? China? Mostly mountains for a few terracing areas for rice paddies. Russia? The only good tillable land nearby is the Steppes in the Ukraine. What about the rest of the world? Europe? Mountains and small areas in the British Isles. Africa? Forest and dessert mainly. Same problem in down under. South America? Same problems with small areas for farming foods. Now look at the US. Large areas for food growth. Now who feeds the world? We do. I watched one of Fridman’s podcasts a couple months ago. Thought he was ok, had some good that resonated with me, some bad that didn’t. But my takeaway impression was that he could be trained a no such agency information special operator.
Can’t put my finger on it, cite anything specific, just a vibe thing, some tells that made me question, his game. Sensed that he’s running a game of some kind. And sensed that it’s not pro-MAGA. Much closer to globalist values than nationalist. Is a matter of taking the good he shares, discarding the bad he shares, leaning heavily into discernment. Not a must-see TV guy.
Unlike a Hannity interview this guy lets the guest talk without interrupting.
I find that refreshing and much more informative.

These media types that use podcast the most are nothing more than a new breed of politicians. They come out of no where and as an audience, we are expected to accept them and treat them like celebrities that will help us understand the times we now live in. I have to ask the question, where has this man been hiding and why him now? I ask that about others as well.
There seems to be too much information everywhere we turn. Confusion is the goal of the day! Perhaps Hillary was on to something when she called us Deplorables. We live with bran washing antics 24/7 and yet, we the people forget that really what we have is deception and oppression in our modern day world.
One day we will wake up to a closed society and locked down, unable to speak our thoughts. We will be mum and not ask additional questions. Ayn Rand was no stranger to this type of government control and yet, we are being sucked in like a gran of corn in a fierce tornado. Where will we end up?
We have great words to guide us and they are ignored daily. The Bible; the Constitution of the USA; the Bill of Rights, etc. These works are being trashed and ignored and we, the people, are shocked at the decline in our society. Really? Haven’t listen but to the actually few questions. Not sure I’ll go back or not. My first impression wasn’t a good one for the lad. Starting out telling your quest you don’t believe him about something puts things on the negative right off the bat. Gave President Trump the truth of this situation. President Trump was impressive.
