You could create an equally-secure (if not more so …) “alternative to SWIFT” using entirely off-the-shelf software technology and public networks. There’s absolutely nothing unique nor exclusive about it: it’s simply a secure(?) way for banks to send transaction-authorization messages to one another.
At the moment, SWIFT uses the “US$.” But, there’s absolutely nothing nor exclusive about that, either. As the USA is very quickly finding out.
And, even though I am a US Citizen, I have absolutely no sympathy here. The “total mismanagement” and even “willful abuse” of the US$’s original status has no excuse and no justification. I am humiliated by it all.
The “BRICS Response” to all of this is precisely what any rational human being – including you – would do under identical circumstances. From now on, the USA is going to have competition. And, “a whole lot of growing-up to do.”

I absolutely agree with you. I like BRICS, and the two finger salute to the west. I just wish more people fully understood what it means for them here at home, and started preparing for it. Immigration has always been my top issue, even all the way back in the beginning of my political journey in the 1992 Primaries and elections. I watched Pat Buchanan’s Cultural War speech at the 92 RNC and knew he was warning us of what our enemies were going to try and do to us.
It is SUCH an important issue and most people simply do not understand how drastically our system has changed in the past 50 years! My husband is the son of legal immigrants AND we did ministry, both here and in Mexico, for many years, so I have seen the issue from both sides.
I understand WHY people want to come to America but the way we are admitting people now is 180 degrees backwards and no one is more angered by the current system than those who waited in line and did it correctly! (I know MANY legal immigrants from Mexico and they are furious – they are among President Trump’s strongest supporters!)
The other issue, which most people also do not want to discuss, is the emotional blackmail and total misrepresentation of the Bible in order to guilt people into accepting the wholesale destruction of their country in the name of “compassion” and Christian “charity”. The “ministries” and NGOs that push these narratives make BILLIONS, and so many well-intentioned, but uniformed, people get scammed and lied to every year, many of them quite willingly, in our experience, because they “feel good” about “helping” those “in need”! We still get flak when we try to sound warnings, but the people who are willing to listen often come back and thank us later – the ones who do not want to here it, simply shut us down, and we feel zero sympathy when they get fleeced. The problem is that the rest of us also pay the price for their naiveté!
I remember a young illegal we knew who would laugh at the gullible Americans – he said once of a woman we knew, “I can’t stand her – she’s a gossip and an idiot but she’s always good for lunch and $20.” But she was SO proud of herself for how much she was “helping the least of these!”

Something worth noting about Colorado governor Jared Polis’ willingness to downplay the Tren de Aragua armed takeover of apartment complexes in the Denver suburb of Aurora.
From what I’ve seen, Denver is the city with the highest office space vacancy rate in the United States. There are see-through office buildings in Denver and Boulder (where Polis lives). The rate in Denver is a scorching 34%.
At the same time, housing has been a big problem and homelessness has grown.
Denver and some people in commercial real estate have been busy for more than two years trying to develop a financially viable way to convert empty office buildings to residential spaces. The conversion projects would be too expensive. The opportunity and the pain were not sufficient to bring such projects to fruition.

Tomorrow is primary day in Massachusetts, there are three GOP candidates running for US Senate, two said they weren’t going to vote for Trump, that they weren’t going to vote at all. Candidate Robert Antonellis was the only one that said that he would vote for Trump.

I’m not aware that he says “more” (at least when he can avoid it), but mostly that immigrants should come in “legally”. Regardless, he has to say these things to avoid getting waylaid off on no-win arguments such as claims of hypocrisy, or who is a good versus bad kind of immigrant. Many many voting Americans are immigrants or married to immigrants or the children of immigrants, or owners of businesses who think they depend on immigrants.

In 2016, PDJT was standing up for American workers who were being laid off for cheaper foreign workers and forced to train their replacements or lose their severance benefits. But I get concerned that as he tries to win over corporate and tech bigwigs, he will soften his America First stands on jobs. There are still a lot of American workers who are being hurt by outsourced or imported labor, including H1B jobs that are bypassing our own workforce and trained graduates. And often, it means that quality is sacrificed in the name of profits.
Made In America, by Americans, should still be our gold standard that we insist on. Instead, you have companies like Boeing, which outsources a lot of its products to foreign affiliates (remember the $9/hr. Indian software engineers they used?) So now you have airplane doors falling off in midair, and a spaceship stranding two astronauts indefinitely, and needing to be rescued by Elon’s Space X ship.
