We’ve had a slow soaker over night interspersed by thunderstorms.
Two runs settled a couple inches and the other two an inch. More rain in the forecast for today so we’ll see. I’ll probably end up soaking the lines with a hose to get them really settled and then fill the recesses in with bagged top soil and soak them again.
I’ve got two chipmunks living under the deck. I hate to do it but I’m going to have to eliminate them.
Re-Home maybe?
Not sure I can trap the little buggers. They go under my feeders to eat and I may just end up trapping doves or some other ground feeding birds.
Really I’ve been hoping that Steve’s barn cats would take care of the problem, and they have been over here in the mornings stalking them, but no joy yet.

There is a retirement community about 20 miles from us. Most of the people who live there are from the Midwest and have never seen javelina. Everyone calls them pigs, however they are from the peccary family and look like wild boars.
Well, wouldn’t you know, people put food out for them and draw them in. These are wild animals with with very sharp tusks. We get them in herds on our property. They are very destructive and very dangerous if they have young’uns with them. When our dog, Gator, was a pup, he was ripped stem to stern by those tusks. We spent all night sewing up the poor soul.
They have even been known to attack people with deadly results.

A few days later,

However, with an abundance of trees, bushes and land … to freely frolic, scamper, live and eat

Cayenne pepper has saved tomatoes, and kept them at bay in the past
but, I forgot to keep sprinkling it after rainfalls this year.
Putting some along house foundation and in their ground holes is not lethal… just unpleasant.

When our a/c quit working several years ago, we got the repair man out. When he took the top off he found a small fried snake in it. Cleaned it out, only had to pay for a service call.

Mornin’ Bet. Yesterday was indeed grim. But I’m a grown up so I’ll get past the frustrations. I posted to dear ‘Woo a good bloodwork report from a couple of days ago. Everything, all the measures were completely normal. That’s pretty good of an old guy I think.
Tomorrow I intend to work more on getting my taxes organized for my tax attorney. Since I don’t do numbers very well—dyslexia—I’m also stressed about this time of the year. I’ll deal with the stress despite the problems, however.

I took a tax accounting course at UT. Needed 9 hours of accounting for my business degree, and as I despised accounting was looking for one not too onerous I followed the advice of someone said, “Take tax!! It’s easy…” So naïve, foolish me signed up.

Hardest course I ever took!!! Ex FBI agent taught it. First day he said to us that he would count us absent if our bums weren’t IN our seats…not walking in the door, not standing by our desks..in our seats. I took him at his word. Made a “B” in his class, but boy did I sweat for it.
I’m glad you have a solid advisor. But I am all sympathy about the stress. Its why I have nothing but respect for those like Just Stevie who has to deal with those horrid taxes as her job. Breathe deeply and slowly…you’ll get through them 😘

One of the best ways I’ve seen someone handle the “democracy” debate is something I think I read here a few years ago.
Someone who was, if I recall right, a low level politician was trying to run over someone else by using the word democracy and was stopped cold by someone when they proved we have a republic.
The politician wanted to talk over this person and dodge the issue when the person with whom they were arguing said something to the effect of “I can prove we have a republic and I can use you to prove it”.
This sorta puzzled the politician. “How’s that?!?”.
“Recite the Pledge of Allegiance”.
“Why? Ok, fine. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic…….”.

Its another Medical Industrial Complex financial and emotional hit job.
Its been along time…but I know it is very high….so bad they came out with the “autism spectrum” verbiage…then tried to shift the ‘diagnoses’ to “Childhood Onset Bipolar”…which had a whole different “treatment paradigm” and the insurance companies AND the doctors all insisted that many tests and exams needed to be repeated.
Out of pocket, for my two ADHD kids, I estimate having spend well over 250k in 1990’s dollars….out of pocket….for meds, lab work, medical tests (CT’s, MRI’s, counseling, psychotherapy, medical tests to make sure Ritalin was not hurting them, then the costs of tutors for school after all the academic testing (school district paid for that, unwillingly)…and then everything they demanded be repeated or they would not take my children as patients.
Then there were costs related to advocates. And fighting the ex husband who said there ‘was nothing’ wrong…when clearly, there was.
We had a very painful 15 years…and in some ways it continues….
When I was still teaching, I found our counseling office was telling our LD students they needed to have yearly tests to ” . . . to see if you’re still dyslexic . . .” Took awhile to convince that dyslexia is a permanent condition and doesn’t “go away”. They were doing the same with ADD/ADHD students. Sceech!
Interesting……I started my first three years of teaching in LD. I mostly had the hyperactives and lots of dyslexics. You never “outgrow” it, but in time you learn to use “workarounds”, and most of ’em were fine by the time they hit high school.
In the earliest days, they didn’t label it ADD/ADHD – it was “minimal brain dysfunction”.
“brain dysfunction” == the indoctrinators term for hard to indoctrinate, non compliants.
In political terms, dysfunctional == deplorables.

Sociology calls this “labeling”. It is a form of socially constructed deviance.

Vitamins C, D,…Small doses of Iron supplements…we used to give Vitamin C 500mg twice a day in the old burn unit I worked at…and a high protein, high carbohydrate diet…carbs from veggies etc..wounds can take 1-3 weeks to heal depending on the depth…
All of those plus prescription Silverdine(?) Cream stuck down into the punctures..
I eat 3 cloves of raw organic garlic,wash that down with water, eat a small meal, wait 2 hrs then take a shot of unfiltered apple cider vinegar followed by more water.
Garlic is better than Zpak and ACV kills MRSA, then replenishes my gut bacteria .. these dogs are show dogs so they’ve had shots..
I am glad I didn’t have a pistol on me when it happened or they would have had a couple more shots….

Here’s a Caterday story. A few years ago I awoke early one morning to a kitten crying. I went outside to see if I could find it, but no luck . . . My grizzled street fighter tabby went to my covered car and brought out a tiny black kitten. Tom Kitty brought her over to the food dish and, obviously hungry, she immediately ate her fill. Long story short, Little ‘Tink became “my” kitty or perhaps better still, I became “her” person. Sadly ‘Tink was feral. She accepted food and shelter from us but avoided human contact.
After 4 years or so something miraculous happened. The best I can described her change is that she decided to be a cat. Over a couple of months, everything about her changed. She became a lap kitty, loving to curl up in my lap over coffee for neck rubs. But perhaps the sweetest thing was how affectionate she became in “watching” over me.
With my wife having passed a couple of years ago, I now live alone. Except for Little ‘Tink. Every night I have a kitty companion. Since she’s quite small (about 6lbs), she likes to curl up on my shoulder to sleep. This has become a nightly ritual I am loathe to discourage. Last night it was a bit warm for her to sleep on my shoulder, so she obligingly curled up next to me within the crook of my arm. There is an almost mystical connection between us now. Its as though she’s communing directly with me. I take it for what it is. She’s a good kitty.
Dearest Garrison… I think I left a reasonable facsimile of the tiny Tink above for you 😌💕 When I posted it I thought to myself, “I wonder if this is what she looked like as a tiny mite…”
Something told me she just might be…bless her precious heart.

I believe the royal life has always been rather scripted, my step mother was into everything royal @ the time, like a majority of people at the time.
Only thing that probably was not scripted or at least limited scripting was what ever the boys were wanting to do before they were old enough to “follow the scripted plan” & since they grew up living that way, that’s all they know.
Harry may have dropped the scripting … because he can … his brother is the one to be king and will be forever watched because of it.
Edit, and looks like most have dropped the interest in Diana/royals here with only 4 upvotes, Jerry Reed is more popular @ 10. Even last years video on Diana was … privatized anyway .. perhaps she is still way popular in Britannia if they are monetizing the vid now. SMH

A study by Columbia University Medical Center in October 2022 revealed that three in ten older Americans have dementia. Older was defined as age 65 and above. Another 22 percent have mild cognitive decline, their study showed. Seeking to forestall such findings, some people have begun to rely on memory enhancers, including supplements and prescription drugs. Many rely on other aids—making lists, using sticky notes, putting locator devices on keys or cellphones, and keeping diaries or calendars. These can be effective when used as part of a routine.
Doctors also offer encouragement by reminding you that mild forgetfulness is not a serious memory problem, nor a precursor to greater issues.
Jesus knew that the human mind becomes occupied with many things and is prone to forgetfulness—at any age. In today’s verse, Jesus said that, of the many ministries of the Holy Spirit in you, one is being your Spiritual Memory Enhancer. Perhaps you have had direct experience with this, when the Holy Spirit brought to your mind God’s Words when you needed them most. Theologian Warren Wiersbe writes, “But the Spirit of God cannot remind you of something that you have not learned!
You must first let him teach you the Word. You must memorize the Scripture that he opens up to you. Then the Spirit of God will be able to remind you of what you have learned, and you can use that truth to battle Satan.”
The indwelling Holy Spirit is many things for you: Comforter, Helper, Teacher, Encourager, Guide, Advocate, Convicter, Revealer, Empowerer, and your Rememberer.

Turns out the tree that fell on our truck, also blocked the gate to the orchard, which had some broken irrigation, and was flooding. I’ve been out there with my chain saw and finally got it clear. Phew!
