Since no from scratch food is cooked at schools like it was when I went, schools buy their ready made food from wholesalers (like most restaurants do) to be reheated on site. And being that schools are government entities, there is little if any accountability in keeping costs down
Those ready made lunches just so happen to match exactly the nutritional guidelines from Michele Obama’s endeavor.
As most of us know by now, the government put out dietary advice that was false, when they flipped the food pyramid, and it started even before that.
Michelle Obama took it to the next level, demonizing such foods as whole milk for instance, and requiring high levels of starch, which conveniently comes in a package from Big Food. Michele used to work for Big Food.
Everybody started screaming about lunch being the parents’ responsibility and how kids should buy their own lunch.
That was a big distraction, because anybody who went to a school of any size had an opportunity to buy and sit down to a hot meal for lunch, back when we were in school, and school lunch programs were not necessarily free lunch programs.
When they convinced people that schools needed to provide breakfast lunch and dinner, it was a big giveaway to corporate food.
BTW those school breakfast programs serve a lot of starchy, sugary carbohydrates that will have kids hungry again before lunch.
In good ol’ New Florida, all school lunches are furnished by the same vendor that feeds the for profit jail and prison system!

In IL, at the state level…the kids and adults incarcerated…make their own ‘food’ from their commissary purchases…they often used the meals for obtaining ingredients not available thru the commissary…
Then I had to deal with the upset tummies because they ate too much….
They mash up Doritos and wet ramen noodles to make a loaf of sorts called a”spread”.. it looked like the pinnacle of a nutritious diet.
In NJ a quick breakfast is a buttered hard roll which was given to us kids all through grammar & high school, that the hard rolls were excellent from the best & famous Italian bakery in NJ, I loved being able to grab them with a carton of milk from a local dairy. My grandmother packed my lunch in grammar school, but in High School all the cool kids went to the pizzeria or WaWa that was nearby. I won’t even tell how ridiculously cheap all the food was before the UnFederal Reserve started newer rounds of inflation but I’m sure you get the point friend
When I moved from Long Island to Central Florida (Webster!) in early 1977, I went through withdrawal over missing those great buttered hard rolls from the NY delis. Also, great pizza – halvah – etc.
A quick breakfast in the NYC area, coffee and a buttered roll. Quick Check used to have them wrapped in wax paper next to the coffee machines. I miss them as they are just about non-existent here. And there are zero Italian delis and the one Jewish deli is so-so. I miss my old friend’s Cole Slaw,Corned Beef, Pastrami sandwich with Russian dressing on Jewish Rye bread. The best, though Harold’s was great also but monstrous in the height and amount. I never unfortunately made it to Katz’s.
I remember, when I was down in Florida, this was the era of cheap flights, there was a guy who would take orders from his friends and colleagues, hop a plane to New York, and return with their delicacies.
You could just show up at an airport then, right before a flight was scheduled to leave.

I lived in Central Florida from January ’77 until January ’90 with 2 separate year long escapes to Wyoming and New Mexico. I left Florida permanently and moved to Asheville, NC for 5 1/2 years and then Greenville, SC for 3 1/2 years and than onto where I live now, the border area between extreme southwest NY and extreme northwest PA. Erie PA to Dunkirk NY. I like the weather and the population actually is declining. I love cold weather and snow!!

Also, I would think that school lunch workers are government employees and I believe their wages have gone up. Probably not keeping pace with inflation but up non the less. How about the overall cost of running the school … mortgage – utilities – teacher salaries – administrative salaries … yada, yada, yada? This might be factored into that school lunch number?
I am talking about the 60’s when a “lunch lady made enough in salary could afford to send her kids to college. They schools bought nothing ready made and every single meal was from scratch. Government overspending is always been the driver of inflation.

They are trading one crap for another crap in a plastic tray, every day.

They screwed the entire school food industry supply chains when they closed down schools for two plus years. It died on the vine for the most part and many were out by the time they reopened.
Baby formula. I think that was really caused by the MASSIVE influx of illegal babies invading our borders. Who was getting it when we couldn’t? The illegal alien holding centers.
Baking goods is way off, and whatever it is up Bakery Goods are at least that plus . I’ll use it again, because it is a biggie in almost all cooking and baking. BUTTER was $.99 a pound under President Trump. That is four sticks of butter. I am lucky now if I can get it for $3.99 a pound. So now it is $.99 cents a stick.
On another school note, I remember having a convo with a school nurse about non-vaccinated children well before the plandemic. She was saying that’s how various diseases spread and I looked straight at her and said, If you are vaccinated why are you worried, it doesn’t make any sense? I could see in her eyes how hard she was searching for an answer and she came up with nothing, finally. She just shook her head with those dumbfounded eyes.
This is what worries me the most about the state of our country is the people who just parrot everything they hear.
Our lunches were 35 cents per day, 2 cents for an extra white milk 3 cents for chocolate.
Every month we got the menu to take home, your mom would know what days if any she had to send a brown bag.
In grade school, during the afternoon, they would bring by a milk machine where you good get a cup of ice cold milk for 2 cents before the teacher announced nap time
I remember it well.
My mom always did lunch boxes with her wonderful homemade wheat bread and homemade peanut butter and homemade jam or jelly. Or in my case, I preferred homemade butter on my peanut butter sandwiches. Never got into that jelly thing on them or my toast, UNLESS it was homemade strawberry jam on my toast. Ummmmm.
Sometimes, for a special treat we got fried corn tortillas shells with bologna, mayo and pickles. Or homemade pimento cheese spread or homemade hotdog & relish spread.
And then there was a homemade treat inside too. Along with an apple or peach or some kind of fruit, and veggies like celery or carrots.
My schools would have the subsidized milk also. I think it was somehow related to government programs to keep food prices stable or something.
As kids in Scotland ( mid sixties) we had milk delivered to our schools in crates every morning.
Real cream was atop of the milk in the small ( 1/3 of a pint or so bottles)
As kids we just loved the stuff, many of us had little.
Looking back on it, the graft must have been staggering.

My mom was a Lunch Lady (baker) in our local school. You are correct about the government subsidies. The Department of Agriculture had a system of price supports and would purchase excess production and then “donate” it to schools and other similar non-profit entities. As memory serves, they paid 50 cents per “unit” shipped to the school, so a case of six No. 10 cans of anything (beans, apricots, peanut butter, etc.) was 50 cents. Same for bulk flour, pasta, sugar, rolled oats, etc. Half pint bottles (later cartons) of whole milk put up by a local dairy cost two cents for the brown-baggers; it was included in the 25 cents we kids paid for each meal. Nearly everything was made from scratch and we ate like kings!

Extremely…: I lived two blocks and a ball field away from my elementary school and walked or rode my bike home for lunch every day, with plenty of time to play after lunch.
I went to Catholic schools…we did not have ‘school lunch’…we brought our own, ever day. We all lived.
We also traded our sandwiches or desserts…and we still lived, in spite of that.
In grade school we went home. In junior high and high school we went out of our neighborhoods to school so we ate lunch in school, you could either bring your own or pay for one in the cafeteria.
In my day, lunch was brought from home. Schools did not provide free food paid for by taxpayers. And kids were thin and obesity was not an issue.
Our school had a super cook as a dietician. Her menus included things like cooked cabbage with ham, carrot salad, turkey breast, barbecue pork, baked potatoes, peanut butter bars, meatloaf, fried chicken, fresh cooked broccoli, pear pie, yeast rolls, sweet tea, spaghetti with homemade sauce, etc. Good meals that even parents would come to school to eat. Kids 35 cents, Parents and teachers $1.00.
Then came Michele Obama. The menus went to corn dogs, fish sticks, pizza, french fries every meal, chicken nuggets, canned fruit, canned beans, canned corn, soy burgers with a little meat, pressed meat “ribs”, chicken hot dogs, canned spaghetti, no cakes pies or sweets, no tea, half brown bagged salad.
Local kids got what they described as “moldy green turkey wieners.”
The only day they would eat was pizza day, used to bring in Papa John, then that changed to microwave the next year.
We were driving home from school one day and they point at truck from local food distributor, they all declared that is who brings the nasty food to our school.
This was during Big Mike years.

Results (raw percentage over 3 years):
Bacon – 100% and starting to climb again
Sausage – 65%
Eggs – 120%
Cookies about 40%
Lunch meat (deli) – 60%
Bread – 50%

Why is diesel fuel cheaper than milk? In the people’s Republic of Massachusetts, the average price of a gallon of milk in July 2023 was $2.80. Today it is over $5 while diesel hovers around $4 per gallon. Linking these milk prices to the school lunch discussion above, the subsidized milk price of 2 cents per half pint in the schools works out to 8 cents per quart and at that time I can tell you that milk in the store cost around 18 cents per quart (I often got sent to the store to buy it). So what changed? You still just squeeze a cow to get milk, but today the processing of milk is much more efficient so the price should have declined a bit. What changed is the value of the money, i.e., inflation.

I bought the large block of sliced American cheese just a little while ago, it’s the most economical deal. It isn’t even as big as it used to be, and it was almost twelve dollars.
I remarked that if you had a family with a couple of teen boys in it, they could consume all that in a couple of days.

There are various ways you can set aside sometimes pre-tax funds to pay for things like dietary supplements and much, much more. These are employer sponsored plans, but if they are pre-tax, meaning the amount you set aside you don’t pay tax on, generally whatever you don’t pay in taxes your employer doesn’t have to match, so it is win-win for both of you. The employer gets to help you maintain your health pre-tax and you both save on taxes.
There is always a catch with the gubt and the catch is USE IT OR LOSE IT. You must use what you set aside or you lose it at the end of the year to the gubt. They get anything left in your account. Regrettably I learned how bad this was in a leap year when the computers and the overpaid pinheads running them forgot there was an extra day that year. It was all gone. Wiped out by a stupid, stupid, stupid error.

Reality: The First Amendment is unique to the United States.
Further, we (the United States) have a history of attempting to attack encryption. Who remembers that debate and people literally printing the code for PGP on a t-shirt? Yes, the people’s capacity to do this has been upheld and ultimately the government gave up but they did try it.
End-to-end encryption, of course, pisses governments off because the operator of the service doesn’t have the keys so absent an intentional flaw (usually in the keying because modern cryptography is extremely difficult to actually break) forget it — you can eventually break it but by then the people communicating will already be dead and you can’t prosecute a corpse, the information will be of no value — or both.
So am I particularly surprised that a European nation considers end-to-end encryption when they have reason to believe it is used to facilitate a criminal act a crime standing alone and the parties who operate it to be jointly and severably liable?

The poll this am by Tipps showing Harris up by two 48-46 in Michigan is fantastic for President Trump. When the Laugher should be at her high point after the convention this polls crosstabs show 24 percent of Michigan voters are still undecided and when asked who they thought there neighbors would vote for President Trump won by 8 %. If President Trump is getting this great of a poll result in Michigan right after 4 straight days of lies he is doing excellent. I am very happy this am. As a Michigan resident, I would say that the undecided is around 10%, but that number is not fixed. Abortion remains a huge issue for Trump, if the women voters buy the fear that the Democrats are selling. The other huge issue, Trump faces, is the possible prison sentence come September 18th. A likely sentence would propel Democratic voter turnout, and become a huge talking point of Kammy’s campaign.
A sentence would also remove Trump from campaigning, hurt Republican turnout more than the Democratic vote, and possibly stop Trump from using the incarceration as a fundraising method, since raising money on criminal convictions are generally not allowed.
We will know that the world is awakening when this is no longer the case (quoting from your post above which I think accurately states the current situation):

When it becomes apparent to more and more people as they are red-pilled and see that their own families are being targeted for extinction . . . miscarriages resulting from vaccines, hormones in food, vaccines that bring about autism, the predations on little ones in school who should just be learning their ABC’s, reading, writing (both cursive and printing) and arithmetic, when mothers and fathers realize that the abortion industry is part and parcel of the holocaust, they will see that what the Democrats are selling is the destruction of their own families.
Maybe, but what you stated above, does not account for the zoomer generation, who have been taught otherwise. Something like 85% believe and accept abortion as a constitutional right. This generation is the biggest voting demographic, age wise, that Trump faces.
The Zoomer generation is quite possibly the reason Trump has become pro abortion. Well, that and the fact that abortion was the main issue of voter turn off, in 2020.
People who single issue vote on abortion are nut bags and have never considered voting MAGA. They accept censorship while pretending abortion is anything but a fringe issue. Making decisions around those loons is crazy.
I completely disagree on the sentence outcome. They sentence our president over the stupidity out there in the courts today, and there will no longer be a need for campaigning or fundraising.

A prison sentence cuts both ways here. But, with Social Media, broadcast news, and the people who count the votes all in the Democrats pocket, a prison sentence would definitely work to the Democrats advantage.

Trump has to be very careful when it comes to talking about China. He should understand by now that a lot of what “China” does is actually being done by the IC, who WANTS us to believe China is the one doing it so it can develop an excuse for war.
If Trump goes all in on the exaggerated “China threat,” he will lose. Independent voters are seeing right through the IC’s lies, and if Trump embraces those lies rather than refute them those voters will stay home or vote third party in November.

I’m a little late to this, but for good reason
— I’ve just safely departed from Europe.
France has threatened Rumble,
and now they have crossed a red line
by arresting Telegram’s CEO, Pavel Durov, reportedly for not censoring speech.
Rumble will not stand for this behavior and will use every legal means available to fight for freedom of expression, a universal human right.
We are currently fighting in the courts of France,
and we hope for Pavel Durov’s immediate release.
I doubt he would do it, but a future president DJT could use these policies of the EU and UK to put NATO under long-term duress. Start by moving military infrastructure out of the worst offending countries. Place the diplomatic credentials under scrutiny. Maybe mention that countries that don’t revere free speech can’t host US personnel and perhaps don’t belong in NATO.
But President Trump is not one to roll hand grenades and move on…. Like me.
