Comedian and host of HBO’s Real Time Bill Maher said during a recent podcast interview that the recent assassination attempt on former President Trump was his “favorite day of 2024.”
Though Maher has consistently condemned the assassination attempt on the former president’s life since the beginning, he told the Daily Beast’s Matt Friend on his podcast Friends In High Places that comedians should be allowed to crack jokes about the event because Trump survived, even though one of his supporters died in the shooting.
“It would be different if he got killed,” Mahar said.
Trump supporter Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief from Pennsylvania, died after the shooter missed the former president, grazing only his ear. Two other Trump rally-goers were seriously injured before a sniper took out the assailant.
Maher joked that the shooter being killed instead of the former president is so “on brand” for him.
“That’s so Trump. It’s so on brand… it’s always somebody else holding the bullet or the bag,” he said.
Maher did, however clarify that jokes about the assassination can go too far and condemned those who might “joke” that the shooter missed.
This extremely trivial I know, but my late husband’s car recently caught on fire and could’ve burned down my garage and house, not electric. I still have a bit of ptsd.
The fact that our President Trump had a bullet Pierce him and almost killed him and he still goes out to fight for US shows me how STRONG the man is. That is the man I want in my corner.

It’s more than “just” a 45% capital gains tax – it includes the insane concept of tax on UNREALIZED gains (like the appreciation of your house for example). ZH wrote a fairly good article about it. The one thing they left out is that once it becomes established, the income rate it will be applied will be lowered again and again until it applies to everyone that isn’t broke. There should be no capital gain tax on real estae. You pay property tax annually. You pay upkeep. If you made improvements you it came at a cost. The entire concept of income tax should be thrown in the dumpster. It has ruined our country much more than people realize. Compliance and avoidance are a waste of human capital, and if property rights are god-given- the right to pursue happiness- then you should not be renting it from the government.

In 2016 we put our Trump/Pence sign out in our front yard. We were harassed and verbally abused by some of the neighbors. We never removed the yard sign.

Should the U.S. Supreme Court accept this lawsuit filed by the State of Utah against the federal government – this will have HUGE impact on all the western States as to who, the federal or state governments, have control over the unappropriated lands in their respective States.
Thinking of ranchers, loggers, miners, farmers, recreational visitors, all sorts of multiple use projects that go on in the lands currently managed by the Dept. of the Interior.
This is, if successful, an act of extreme federalism where a State is demanding their rights as granted under the U.S. Constitution.
semi-retired from the mining industry so am not quite sure how such a ruling giving the States back control of their lands will affect that industry, at this point in time it sure sounds like a fantastic start to remind bureaucrats in D.C. they actually have a limitation on their authorities.

I can imagine Justice Gorsuch jumping at the chance to take on this lawsuit, it would be right up his alley so to speak.
This possibly seems more like an anti-Trump flanking maneuver to put the land in the sole control of the Utah political and corporate interests, rather than chance something like a new Homestead Act putting the land into private hands (which is a much more American outcome).
The better solution is to repeal the FLMPA and start allowing homesteading in the West again.

From what I’ve been able to find, and haven’t really been looking as far as Utah is concerned, but in Utah the Dept of Interior have been closing a huge amount of roads that have been there for generations with no notices given so no public comments can be made and there’s not much rhyme or reason for why this is happening; this goes on everywhere out west where the Dept of Interior is tasked with managing the lands for multiple uses but lately their bug is to shut down lands “to preserve the landscape for future generations”.
I think the homesteading idea is interesting but given the number of foreign land purchasers it would seem a wise move to have each State decide which areas, and by whom, such homesteads could be feasible –
and then so much of the oil, gas, minerals, timber and water resources out west and the mining and other natural resource exploitation laws that have been the background of much of our national ability to be innovators and inventors by having the individual be free, at their own expense, go into these federal held lands and see what can be found, created, built is something that would be lost if all unappropriated federal lands were turned over to State lands.
It is a part of this interesting lawsuit that needs to be considered, and is barely mentioned in their filings.
Just finished reading the text of their lawsuit and I don’t see that as the reason. Will post a link to the text of their filing. The Dept of Interior has become aggressively worse over the past few years when it comes to closing off lands for multiple users and something does need to bring a balance back.
It’s quite an impressive lawsuit filing so now it just a matter of seeing if the Supreme Court will take it up. They should and I hope the State of Nevada would join in as 81% of Nevada is controlled by the federal government or around 56 million of the State’s 70 million acres are under the Dept. of Interior’s control.
It’s 94 pages but really the first 32 is the State of Utah’s filing, the rest are filings in support of their claim.

Yeah, I’m of mixed opinion but with so much of Nevada set aside as federal lands and having to work with various federal regulating agencies as well as the State and local ones, I can also understand the State of Utah’s frustration.
It’s hard to explain the experience when dealing with a fresh faced new federal employee holding up their rule book in one hand while screaming at the top of their lungs a federal regulation and threatening to shut your entire business down if you don’t let them inside the locked facility while maintaining as calm a posture as you can while they continue delivering their diatribe yelling loud enough the wild asses on the mountain range across the highway can hear their shouting – all so that when they are finally done you can calmly explain to them that they are at the wrong job site, that they want the mine further down the canyon – to want to side with the good folks of Utah.
Actual event my husband went through and still laugh how he retold the story time and again, but also know that state bureaucracies are not any better, trading one hall monitor for another doesn’t make sense but I do admit the text of the lawsuit is pretty well written so this may be something we should be aware of, should it be accepted onto the next Court season’s docket.
After all, Justice Gorsuch pretty much returned the majority of the State of Oklahoma back to some Indian tribe, this suit might have legs.

The absolute audacity of this POS (FHC) to talk about Trump’s “felonies” at the DNC convention. Comey made a long list of FHC’s felonies, and we’re talking real felonies like having top secret government information on a private server, and then made a lame excuse why she wouldn’t be prosecuted.
She should be in jail right now, not talking at the freak show, AKA the DNC convention.
Another rant tonight related to the above is lawfare.
Lawfare is not using the law to go after political opponents, although having stacks of contradictory laws, that are hundreds of feet high if piled up, immorally opens this possibility.
Lawfare is breaking the law to go after political opponents. For instance an attorney general, or prosecutor, charging someone after the statute of limitations. The statute of limitations is a law and any person who ignores it is breaking the law.
Another broken law is going after anybody who questions an election. The 1st Amendment allows us to question election results, so those prosecutors are also breaking the law.
Hence, the conclusion is lawfare, by provable actions, is breaking laws and therefore there need to be consequences for these partisan hacks at some future time. When obeying the law becomes the norm again.

You would think that President Trump was running for the DNC nomination as much as his name is mentioned.
Of course, the Demoncrats have nothing else to run on. They have not discussed policy or what they are planning to do when in office. Or how they will handle world affairs and diplomacy.
They haven’t made any plan to say how they’re going to help Americans
They are t there but to feel the idolatry
Or explained why they even need to be elected to enact this policy since they have been in power for the last four years.
