Yeah, Snuggles-the-large-cat does that…..when she’s not swatting your ankle with a lightly extended claw.
I pet her and love on her extensively first thing when I get up, then head downstairs for coffee. I put on some coffee water since I drink instant coffee and immediately go fill her food bowl.
Pesky little ankle swiper wears me out til I pet her some more. Then purrs happily.
That one is actually aggravating. Makes my wife crazy, too.

But Felines can be very persistent. My deceased ( not by cat) mother -in -law went through what she would have claimed as thousands of dollars worth of pantyhose from ankle-area destruction by’ Lucky’ a black feline.
To make things worse, it was usually as she was just about to leave for work,.. and then another delay,….muffled language ,… Drawers slamming.. and new pair of panty hose grabbed hastily, sometimes shoved in her handbag…for later.. a more convenient time in a cat- free environment.
Good morning Bet! Had to talk Sweet Pea to come down from a tree this morning. Had just let Kona out to do her business and Pea got a glimpse and went up the tree. After I put Kona back in the house Pea came down when we called her. It’s breakfast time. Kona has never lived with cats so we are keeping them separate, just in case. ❤️😻🐕

Our very good neighbour whose wife and teenaged kids are in Maine set fire to his house…
They have two kitties and two golden labs, and he is doing some remodeling himself. Apparently the dogs for some reason like to put their paws on the gas stove and turn on the knobs…don’t ask.
Long story short, he had put a piece of cardboard with a cloth over the top of the burners (?????!!!! Don’t ask about that either) then left for work. The dogs managed to turn the knobs regardless and set the whole kitchen on fire. Thankfully a nearby water pipe burst and put it out…Cabinets burned to ashes, new solid wood floor ruined, furniture…totally gutted with rebuild to come.
Thank the Blessed Lord something made him come home. One cat outside but the other bolted when he opened the door and hasn’t come home. Both dogs treated for smoke inhalation and traumatized. Cats the same…could have been so much worse…I can’t bear to think how terrified they were or how terrible the alternate ending could have been.

Good neighbours that they are, they are extremely absent minded. They have a pool which they fill with a hose, then forget it’s turned on, so I can’t count the times we’ve gone out to find our back yard and drive flooded. But the other day there was water pouring from the side of their house to our front drive…a veritable waterfall.
I assumed they were watering their jasmine strip outside their side door, thought about texting as I have done every dang time with their pool. But I didn’t.
Turns out that was water from the burst pipe. Flooding through their house. Wish I had done now…
Bad as it was, there but for the grace of God could have been so much worse.

The oddest timing…
Saw an article immediately we came back from their house that dogs fiddling with stove knobs is not an unusual occurrence. But with electric stoves and with terrible consequences. If they had not put flammables on top of their burners…..ah me…..
Gas stoves can be a problem. Electric stoves are quite easy to secure while away from the house. Simply go to the circuit breaker box and turn off the 240V kitchen stove breaker switch. Et, voila!
Upon returning, first make sure the stove is clear and all knobs set to OFF. Then go turn the breaker back on.
Don’t know why people let their dogs put their feet up on the stove or table or counters.
We have a friend that let their dog check out what she had cooking on the stove. The dog put feet up on the counter when she was not there and ate a double batch of chocolate chip cookies. Needless to say after huge vet bill and much suffering for the dog, she had to be put down.
The owner found out the hard way that chocolate is poison to dogs and you really have to teach your pets that there are places that they are not allowed. Also – put the cookies in a container and place them out of reach of your beloved dogs!!!

John’s Creator/Savior
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:1-3)
It is remarkable how many names and titles are associated with Jesus Christ (meaning “anointed Savior”) in the first chapter of John’s gospel. In verse 9, He is called “the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.” He is “the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” in verse 14 and “the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father” in verse 18. John the Baptist called Him “the Lord” in verse 23, “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” in verse 29, and “the Son of God” in verse 34. The disciples then called Him “Master” in verse 38 and “Messias” in verse 41, as well as “Jesus of Nazareth” in verse 45. Nathanael acknowledged Him as “King of Israel” in verse 49, and Jesus called Himself “the Son of man” in verse 51.
But the very first title ascribed to Him by John, as he introduced his gospel, was simply “the Word” (v. 1), from a word hard to translate in its fullness. In the New Testament, it is rendered “word,” “reason,” “communication,” “doctrine,” speech,” and many others. With reference to Christ, it tells us that He is always the One who reveals, speaks for, manifests, explains, and incarnates the heavenly Father.
John 1:1 even takes us back before Genesis 1:1, where we learn that the pre-incarnate Christ created all things (cf. Colossians 1:16). “In the beginning” He was, before He created! All things were made by Him. “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth” (Psalm 33:6).
As the eternal, omnipotent Word of God, the pre-incarnate Christ spoke all things into being. Jesus Christ is the Word; and the Word is God! HMM
This wonderful devotional and its description of our LORD JESUS CHRIST brings to mind Hebrews 1:3

I have a book called ‘The Wonderful Names of Our Wonderful Lord’ in which are collected the names of The Lord in Scripture. From it, I started making an alphabetical list of the Names and Adjectives/Descriptors of God. Reading them is a blessing, an encouragement and reminder and it helps when I am down or fearful to remember Who is Lord and Above all (Psalm 46:10)! With 26 letters in our English Alphabet, the list makes a good Advent Devotional for worship and meditation.

In the section of 2 Timothy that contains today’s verse, the Apostle Paul is offering farewell greetings to his young protégé. Much of it is a sad account. He is in prison once again and in despair. Through it all, though, Paul’s testimony was that he was not alone. The Lord was there… and He had been with Paul the entire time. It was God’s power that enabled him to be strong.
Theologian John Piper said, “When Jesus is all you have, Jesus is all you need.” Paul relied on that truth.
Dr. Tom Schwanda, Professor Emeritus of Wheaton College, wrote, “God’s presence is not something we created by our efforts. It is always God’s gift to us totally independent of what we do.
For, in reality, God is already present; it is we who needed to be awakened to God’s presence. The biblical truth and resulting comfort that we must remember is that God is always with us.”
If you are lonely, reach out, tell someone. Do not “suffer in silence.” If you are spiritually lonely, pray; then pray again. The Lord longs for you to know His presence with you.
Pray for a deeper awareness of the presence of God among Christians in government, where taking a stand for Christ can often be a lonely thing.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

When you discern a sign what comes to mind
Is it a warning or portend combined
Does it alarm you or charm your senses
Do you take heed or disarm your defenses
The contrast between the natural true
And what’s in the supernatural queue
A sign or wonder in the mind’s eye
An ordinary occurrence nigh
The secret to both is to whom they point
And to what they prophesy and anoint
The purpose is your awareness of God
To recognize His power and be awed
An unexpected divine intervention
Is sure to inspire and get attention
The problem arises when fake seems real
Forged apparitions have their appeal
False prophets perform actions that fool
Their manifestations fail as a rule
Signs seek to enhance bring about belief
Wonders serve as signs of future relief
Miracles are evidence of God’s power
They last for much longer than an hour
Healing comes not from man or of his hand
That was never designed or even planned
Only God can work wonders and give signs
By His great love and His power confines
The miraculous is in His domain alone
