Most folks don’t follow specific aircraft in detail so it’s easy to miss maintenance problems and diversions en route.
Given the aircraft is over 30 years old and lived at least some of its life as a transport aircraft, it makes sense that it would experience mechinical problems like any other large jet.
That’s why there are inspections, checklists, minimum equipment lists and regular maintenance, as well as many redundancies in design to handle mechanical problems.
It appears whatever happened occurred near Sheridan, WY at about 19:59 Zulu at flight level 380. The descent and landing in Billings appears unremarkable.
In reviewing records I found I had missed an incident with another corporate jet back in May 2024; a wing clip on ground at Palm Beach. Stuff happens.
Say a prayer about the plane issue, that it was purely happenstance.
I’ve been thinking about them getting to the plane for a few months now.

I had asked why Trump was rallying in Montana, someone suggested he would be there to support Sheehy. That’s what Trump says in the interview, plus some fundraising.
Btw that was a good tight message, much better than the ad I saw on YouTube that was Trump in his aircraft but he wasn’t as focused. Straight out telling people prices will come down when he is elected is exactly what he should be telling them. Relief is on the way! I’m waiting for mortgage rates to drop.

I don’t like that approach, but who am I to complain? He will sacrifice some hard core MAGA, in exchange for people he normally wouldn’t get. It’s a huge gamble. The regime can print an unlimited number of votes, it cannot be “swamped.” It must be defeated before election day…week…month.

Polling shows Sheehy with only a slight lead (within the margin of error) over Tester in the Montana Senate race. So a Trump visit might be helpful. Tester current holds that seat. If Sheehy wins it will be a big win for Republicans, flipping a blue seat to red and helping to secure the Senate majority which we desperately need for Trump’s second term.

The exact numbers don’t really matter to me. IMO what’s important is that Sheehy can unseat Tester. In 2018 the GOP candidate lost to Tester despite having the endorsements of Trump and certain other key people.
I don’t keep up with polls but figured PDJT was there for Congress races, mostly. It makes sense. He’s been there before at mid-terms. I remember we happened to be staying near Yellowstone in Sept 2018 and some of our party went to his rally in Billings.
In 2020 MT had 1 representative and 2 senators. In 2024, it has 2 reps, because they gained population relative to other states.
So this rally is worth 1 more republican representative and 1 more rep senator. It is given that with Manchen retiring, Jim Justice (a dem turned repub) will win in WV. That will make the Senate safe at least for 2 years.

What I’m really referring to are the ads, and I guess interviews and upcoming debates too. The average voter has a short attention span. I saw a Trump ad on YouTube which even I had to bail on because it was, as his haters love to say, “rambling”. Meanwhile Kamala is delivering slick written speeches full of lies but because the speeches are tightly-worded and -delivered people think she’s presidential. WE know she’s a corrupt idiot but the average voters who might be influenced by the ads do not.
That said, the short video he did today was excellent. See Oldersoul’s post below. If Trump can do ads like that one, it will be fantastic. Also the “Criminals for Kamala” ad is excellent.

Regarding Trump’s plane issues: Did the Secret Service have access o the plan prior to his boarding? He has his own pilot, his own mechanics..but could the SS have access anyway?
Planes are pretty good about telling on themselves and the pilots do thorough preflight checks right before closing doors. I don’t discount Kamikazi USSS agents but doubt that very much. Bad actors on the ground are possible too but PDJT has a lot of experience keeping his plane secure.
If one looks at his flight track and bearing/speed data, the descent into Billings and didn’t know the original plan, it looks completely normal, just not at Bozeman.I haven’t kept up with the granular details but the ‘mechanical’ could have also been a purposeful diversion due to something going on in Bozeman.
I’ve only been to Bozeman once and it’s a pretty small, open airport. 757 would be a big plane for that airport, normally. Nice place.

If so, that’s a customary reason for a diversion, even though the aircraft has multiple redundant hydraulic systems for flight controls and also alternative landing gear deployment methods.
I’ve been on commercial planes with such issues and, depending on what it is, they may continue or divert. Only really serious issue I had in my 2mm or so miles was an Embraer tubroprop losing one engine and the other surging as we were climbing out of SFO. Had a long look at the bay out the exit door window on the way back. It’s really dark out there at night.

Yeah, from 2006 up until I closed the business, only private customer (machine shop) job videos went up there so they could view them. I never had an open channel and now only use it to download content with a software scraper and don’t even view much in a browser anymore and haven’t logged into my account in over a year.
I did, however, watch Bonneville Speed Week live this week. The volunteers did a great job with the free stream.
For political/conservative stuff, I don’t use YT. I watch PDJT rallies, if I do, on Rumble.
Today I sat through a Kamala ad on YouTube just so I could access five minute videos on how to fix a toilet. Had gotten a $500+ estimate from a plumber, close to $400 from another plumber. I fixed the darned toilet for less than six bucks by replacing the stupid flapper. So yes, YouTube does serve a purpose. Had I capitulated and hired one of those plumbers, then I would have been a “sucker.”

Rosendale: 235,963 (46.78%)

2018 was an “off-year” and the middle of PDJT’s first term. A different mix of people show up in off-years versus presidential years. The “less engaged” do not show up in an off-year; on the other hand, the party not in office fires up their base voters.
Anyway, 2024 will be different, and we should expect PDJT coat-tails to sweep in some repubs.

According to pollster Rich Baris who does an outstanding podcast, Peoples Pundit, which airs M, W & F at 12:00 EST, Republican turnout is low in non presidential election years plus Republicans still split their vote more than Democrats do.
For instance, 15% of PA voters who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 who also intend to vote for him in 2024 did NOT vote for the people he asked them to vote for in 2022. Instead they voted for uber snek Democrat AG Shapiro for Governor.
I sit here 15 miles from the rally, watching it on my computer. I’d be there except for coming off a nasty cold.
Tester is on his third term. The demographics of Montana has been changing rapidly since the 90’s and the popularity of movies ‘Lonesome Dove’, ‘A River Runs Through It’, ‘The Horse Whisperer’ and now ‘Yellowstone’. The State has been monetized and commercialized as a tourist destination. The people who are moving here are running away from traditionally Liberal States that their politics have already destroyed. I have neighbors who border my 20 acres from Washington State, California (multiple) and Minnesota. They bring their politics too. The Biden/Harris signs were not uncommon in 2020.
This is a main reason for Testers longevity. He also becomes vocally very conservative during election years. He uses identity politics, ie. he’s a native born Montanan who farms the land and Sheehy is an outsider who “wants to lock up Public lands”. I’ve worked close to his organic farm, it’s a mess of weeds and I think he keeps it for PR value. He is a DC Dem rubber stamp through and through. Spends millions on his restaurant bills (it shows) and is the largest collector of lobbyist money in DC. That’s how important he is to them. He also gets some of the subsidized farmers votes and union mining votes and he gets the Indian reservations.
Our State is being overrun and taken over.

Last night, Kamala Harris personally filed an updated Statement of Candidacy (aka Form 2) to designate Tim Walz as her running mate. Since she used Biden’s personal candidate ID number (P80000722) instead of her own (P00009423), the FEC records are convoluted.
Her newly filed Form 2 shows up on Biden’s personal FEC page. But if you look at the 2024 election cycle, Biden is erased and replaced with Harris, as if he was never never running for President. Looking at Biden’s campaign committee’s FEC record, it’s now associated with both Biden’s and Harris’s candidacies for President for the period of 2020-2022.
But that makes no sense, because Harris’s Presidential run in 2020 was never linked to Biden’s, and she ceased her campaign for President in 2020 and did not run again until 2024.
Now Harris’s personal FEC candidate ID number (P00009423)—which is supposed to follow her for all Presidential campaigns for life—is somehow linked to Biden’s Presidential campaign in 2020.
Only her Vice-Presidential campaign was ever linked to Biden’s, but that is separate from any Presidential campaigns. The current 2023-2024 FEC record for “Biden for President” (aka “Harris for President,” ID number C00703975) is linked to two Presidential candidates.
Both are both named “Kamala Harris.” One of these candidates is associated with Harris’s candidate ID number (P00009423), and the other “Kamala Harris” is associated with Biden’s candidate ID number (P80000722).
The Statement of Candidacy that Kamala Harris filed on July 29, using Biden’s personal candidate ID number (P80000722), now shows up under Harris’s ID number.
But last night’s filing for that same candidate—number P80000722—shows up for the other “Kamala Harris” who is running for President. (Based on what happened previously, I suspect the FEC will shift these records in the future, to make it seem like there aren’t so many discrepancies between the names and the ID numbers.)
Confused?
That’s because these filings from Harris are irregular. If Kamala Harris had used her own candidate ID number, like every other candidate in modern history, this wouldn’t have been so complicated, but then it would have been difficult to make the case that she’s entitled to Biden’s war chest.
Undoubtedly, these filings are trying to circumvent those pesky campaign finance laws.
By the way, since Walz has never run for President, he doesn’t have his own FEC candidate ID for a Presidential run.
According the the logic of Harris’s supporters, Walz is equally entitled to any funds from the campaign committee associated with ID number C00703975.
And, just as Harris felt entitled to file an amended Statement of Candidacy using Biden’s personal candidate ID number because she was the Vice Presidential candidate, Walz could do the same, using Biden’s personal candidate ID number to run for President if he wanted to.
The Democrats could pass this campaign down in perpetuity, without even obtaining the formal agreement of the prior candidate. This reminds me of a system of government that isn’t considered anything like a democracy.
