As for nature, … and prayer, and even neighborliness, with all the craziness going on in the world, some good came together this past weekend.
Especially for the bird watchers of Northeast Ohio. A few Red Crossbills have been seen way outside their normal range, even building a nest … I went looking for one yesterday. It may seem silly to some that I prayed to be able to see, or hear, and maybe even get a picture of a Crossbill. Meanwhile, complete strangers have been super helpful, publicly posting information including marked-up maps of exactly where on the trail these birds have been seen. Yesterday, two people out on the trail were friendly enough to point out the tree where the nest was … so a man who looked to be a farmer and I were both able to get a glimpse of a Red Crossbill. I also heard two of them calling, and got some photos (low quality) … so everything I prayed for, I received!
On another interesting side note, the woman I met along the trail left to take a break and come back, since it was uncomfortably hot and humid out there to be searching for what’s normally a “winter bird” in the summer. Five minutes after she left, the Crossbills showed up. The moral of the side note being, don’t give up too soon, especially when you can still see you have a chance.
The other moral of the story being, if people can come together and help each other merely to see a rare bird … why can’t we come together as Americans to help each other and save our nation?
And the third moral of the story: Good things can still happen, even in these times.

And as my father would say, to remember to appreciate the simple pleasures along the way, and when you have the chance to go the extra mile for something special worth seeing (for example, the annual Perseid Meteor Shower coming soon this August), it’s worth pursuing.

Less than a year after Judicial Watch reported that the Taliban has established fake nonprofits to steal millions of dollars in U.S. aid to Afghanistan, a new investigation reveals that the terrorist group has also received hundreds of millions in development assistance from Uncle Sam because the State Department fails to properly vet award recipients. At least $239 million have likely filled the coffers of the extremists running the Islamic republic since the 2021 U.S. military withdrawal, according to a report published this month by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR). The money was disbursed by State Department divisions known as Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) and International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) to implement development projects intended to help achieve American foreign policy and national security goals in Afghanistan.
Investigators found that the State Department failed to comply with its own counterterrorism partner vetting requirements in Afghanistan before awarding at least 29 grants to various local entities. The agency has a system to identify whether prospective awardees have a record of ethical business practices and is supposed to conduct a risk assessment to determine if programming funds may benefit terrorists or terrorist-affiliates before distributing American taxpayer dollars. In the more than two dozen cases examined, the agency did not bother and failed to keep proper records.

Judge Tanya Chutkan is wasting no time restarting the proceedings in her courtroom after two key SCOTUS decisions potentially gutted Smith’s indictment. How will she help DOJ salvage the case?
Since being assigned the case in August 2023, Chutkan has played the part of an extra prosecutor on Smith’s team, refusing to step aside despite a long record of bias in J6 cases—during two separate J6 sentencing hearings last month, Chutkan repeated the unsubstantiated claim that four police officer committed suicide over that day and called January 6 “horrifying”—and imposing a broad gag order on the former president.
But as Chutkan’s historic December 2023 order denying Trump’s claims of presidential immunity from criminal prosecution swiftly proceeded through both the D.C. appellate court and highest court, the case remained on ice.
On July 1, the Supreme Court vacated Chutkan’s decision that had been upheld by the appellate court and kicked the immunity question back to Chutkan. SCOTUS essentially identified three buckets of immunity—absolute for conduct clearly under the Constitutional purview of the presidency, none for personal conduct, and some for “unofficial” acts—that Chutkan must now identify within the scope of Smith’s 45-page indictment.

Never before seen footage showing a Planned Parenthood employee appearing to discuss the sale of aborted babies’ body parts was released Tuesday, years after now-Vice President Kamala Harris seized the footage as Attorney General of California.
The five-minute video shows a conversation between a person identified as Dr. Stacy De-Lin, Planned Parenthood New York City Medical Director for Abortion Services, and an undercover reporter with the Center for Medical Progress (CMP). During their conversation, De-Lin seems to acknowledge that Planned Parenthood would sell the livers of aborted babies.
In the clip, De-Lin is told by a CMP investigator that she “could pay you $1,000, up to $1,500 for a liver.”

Two people are BEHEADED in Valencia, Spain in less than 30 hours. Total of three people have been murdered in 72 hours in and around the city of Valencia with all victims having their throats slit.
Two men, one believed to be an Algerian national and another described as black, fled after eyewitnesses saw them attack the first victim, a 40-year-old man, with a knife.
His body was left nearly decapitated on a tram line. A second male victim was found beheaded in Carcaixent, just south of Valencia, on Thursday night.
Now, a third separate victim, a 57-year-old woman, has been found at home in Cuenca, around a two-hour drive west of the city.
The murder is very similar with multiple stab wounds to the neck and her throat slit. Authorities have refused to offer any further detail into the circumstances of the cases at this time. #Spain #Valencia

Martinez had been deported in 2016 and was banned from entering the country for 20 years after his extradition.
On Monday, officers arrested 27-year-old Aditan Ramirez Martinez, who is accused of shooting and killing a man at an apartment complex in the middle of the night. According to a witness who was there at the time, Martinez sent the victim a text message asking him to meet in the parking lot. When the witness, who was with the victim in a car, began walking away, a gunshot was heard and the victim grabbed his chest and fell to the ground.
The witness explained that he knew both men, and the three would spend time together socially. In an interview, he explained his belief that Martinez and the victim might have gotten into an argument in the parking lot before the shooting occurred, according to FOX 13 Seattle.
Following his arrest, the Tacoma Police Department verified that Martinez was in the country illegally.
According to prosecutors, Martinez had been deported in 2016 and was banned from entering the country for 20 years after his extradition. His immigration status also made it unlawful for him to possess a firearm.

I really feel sorry for the folks whose retirement income depends on their 401K stock market investments. Much of the damage from the 1930 crash was because people were allowed to buy on very thin margins and because their savings weren’t protected like they are now. Lifetimes worth of saving were wiped out overnight. We may be seeing something similar in the very near future.
I got out of the stock market and closed my 401K the day after THE GREAT STEAL in 2020. Knew that the Dems would crash it all before Trump won for the Third Time. Now I’ve downsized, have ZERO debt, and prepped for the collapse!
