I guess I had no heart. I have been a Conservative since I was a teen raised in a very Democrat leaning family.
I remember my parents complaining about how bad Carter was and then learning they didn’t vote for Reagan. During the years of Reagan there was economic success in our family and not a lot of Complaining…and yet, they didn’t vote for him again in 1984.
It taught me a very important lesson. The abortion issue and learning about fiscal responsibility sealed the deal for me.
Now, I have been MAGA since 2015.
I admit I didn’t vote for Reagan either, even though I did not like Carter at all. We had just bought our first house, interest rates were high (and got even higher). I was 25 when he was elected. I believed all the MSM lies about Reagan.
During Reagan’s 2 terms I had 3 children and saw such a difference in the way I looked at the world. I began to realize what a great President Reagan was.
I have never voted for a democrat since.

I don’t have a degree but I would have a law that the only place you could register to vote is the local city government. You would have to bring in proof of citizenship and help would be provided to obtain documentation and transportation where necessary. It is ridiculous that anyone on the street can register someone to vote. Whoever thought that up? Oh wait, I know.
With great irony, starting next year a REAL ID will be required to enter TSA areas or secure federal facilities like military bases and most federal buildings.

Three girls tragically killed in Southport named | Merseyside Police
Alice Dasilva Aguiar,9, Bebe King, 6, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, were killed in a knife attack in Southport, England.
On Monday, a knife attack in Southport in the northwest of England left three young children dead, five others are in critical condition, and two adults were also hurt.
The murdered children have now been named by Merseyside Police as nine-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar, six-year-old Bebe King, and seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe.
According to AP, a witness described seeing bloodied children running from a community center where a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga event for children aged about 6 to 11 was taking place.
Emergency services responded to the scene, and police reported that they had detained a 17-year-old male suspect and seized the weapon. UK law prevents the release of details on the suspect because he is under 18.
Yoga instructor Leanne Lucas risked her own life to help save children at the risk of her own life. Lucas is in the hospital in critical condition.
Jonathan Hayes was also injured trying to protect the children, and Joel Verite tackled the suspect and helped the victims.

I’ve been hearing the name Tommy Robinson off & on for years. I think I always knew he was an activist trying to force certain information into the light that the system badly wanted to remain under the radar—and I also knew that he was put in prison at least once—but I never found the time to learn the specifics of his activism.
Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of Jordan Peterson in my ‘suggested videos’ and I noticed that he had interviewed Tommy Robinson. It was quite an eye-opener (for me, at least).
The interview itself is a bit rambling (on Tommy’s part)… or, maybe it’s not… maybe I was simply overwhelmed by his story. If what Tommy details is, in fact, true then England has an incredibly serious & destructive problem. It’s coming from the bottom up, and from the top down. When evil collides with corruption, the resulting turmoil is horrific — and the inability or unwillingness of society to get the problem under control is truly shocking.

Lamar Kemp, 15, was sentenced to 35-60 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing Theodore Lawson while he was knocking on doors canvassing for the Democratic Party.
Kemp was charged in October of 2023 for murder and tried as an adult due to his previous record within Michigan’s juvenile system.

“I shot him,” the teen said at his trial in an Ingham County courthouse on Friday as he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Ingham County prosecutor John Dewane charged Kemp in October 2023 as an adult due to the nature of the crime and the teen’s previous record in the juvenile system.

The Butler rally was a turning point for me. I always had a good relationship with my family members, no drama, we’re not super close but we all get along. In 2015 that all changed. I became the only Trump supporter. I used to suffer insults and attacks until I started snapping back and then they quit.
On July 13 I texted my mother “Democrats are completely unhinged now. Shot Trump.” She replied some time later, saying she had been out running errands and she just saw my message. Later she wrote “He was a Republican”, parroting the Democrat talking points.
I was so offended I haven’t texted her since then. Any normal person would admit that it was awful regardless of which side you’re on. She was also completely unsupportive about Biden’s November 2021 executive order to fire US workers who were unvaccinated. She was OK with me losing my job. The mere fact that I was a Trump supporter made me unworthy of any sympathy.
Several times my mother has texted me to ask if I’m OK and I cannot respond because I don’t know what to say. I’m beyond angry at this situation we’re all in and about what Trump has been put through and that the media is completely corrupt and brainwashing people and that there’s a chance Kamala Harris will be the next President which means continuned, and worsening, misery for most of us. Because I didn’t respond my mother must have asked other family members to text me and I cannot reply to them either. They’re all Democrats.
I am actually thinking now to just pull the plug, or tell them that I will pull the plug in November if Kamala wins. If they vote for Kamala and she wins I think I need to just divorce myself from my family completely. I cannot be a part of a family that votes for the people who are destroying the country. If it means losing any inheritance I might have received when my parents die, oh well. The country is going to be f’d then anyway, what difference will it make.
If anyone has any suggestions on what I might reply back, like if you’ve been through this already, I’m open to ideas. I just can’t take it any more. I cannot pretend that I even like these people any more. 🙁

I think your position is a bit extreme. They are your family first and foremost. The fact that your mom is reaching out to you is an indication that no matter the difference in both of your beliefs she values her relationship with you. Just because I refused to take the COVID vaccine they decided that I was an anti-vaxxer (I’m not) and, worse, Trump was an anti-vaxxer (he was not). And when I explained my position it was like talking to a wall. They were so deeply brainwashed they couldn’t even comprehend my very simple and straightforward logic. I didn’t want to take a novel vaccine that had an unproven efficacy and unknown side effects, and after having COVID and experiencing only mild illness, I didn’t feel it was necessary to take the vaccine. When I complained about the threat of losing my job, my mother said “take the vaccine!”. F*ck. I would never say that to someone! When they decided to take the vaccine I was supportive, I told them I respected their decisions and I never one time tried to talk them out of it. I didn’t get the same respect in return, just disdain. Disdain because I didn’t line up like a little brainless robot and take the injections. No credit for me actually thinking it through logically and scientifically and assessing risks vs benefits.
Even when I was a Democrat I didn’t think the way they do. I dropped out of that party years ago when they weren’t nearly as bad as they are now.

My elderly mom loves President Trump, as do roughly half my friends and family. I host all the family holidays and gatherings for mom’s sake as well as for my children. We do *not* bring up politics at those times.
I believe our problems in this world are spiritual in nature. I see spiritual turmoil in people on both sides of the aisle. When we aren’t happy we tend to blame others for our problems.
So I just pray for everybody to open their eyes to see God’s path laid before each and every one of us. Unity is needed to save our country. Only with His help can we hope to bridge the spiritual divide that plagues this nation.

I was in your boots, and my boots walked out of my house, my relationship and my job, and they went across the country…… There is no future in punishing myself/yourself, or eventually reaching my/your limit and saying/doing something I/you would regret.

One day they may call, then evaluate .he key is decide what you want in the future, if these people dont appreciate what your future will be, leave them to their own future and pray for them.
My family are all Democrats. I don’t see them often, but when I do, we do NOT discuss politics. It’s the only way I can be in their presence. I refuse to be friends with a Democrat! Unfortunately you can’t pick your family. Have you tried agreeing to not ever discuss politics with your family? If that is not possible, then you may need to cuts ties. It’s way too stressful to constantly be arguing and feeling angry all the time.
The problem I’m dealing with right now is the knowledge that they are voting for the people who are causing all of the problems for the country which are harming me and themselves too. So even if we no longer talk about politics I’m still well aware that they are doing tremendous damage. It’s just so heartless. Do they care about the people who have lost loved ones due to illegals committing murder? Do they care about the people who would love to buy a first home and can’t because the prices and mortgage rates are so high? Do they care about the people who have to cut back on food or AC/heat or medicines because they struggling to pay their bills?
You might take some comfort in the fact that their ‘votes’ won’t affect the outcome of the ‘election.’

Cut ties with them if they are toxic towards you, but do try to forgive them, Jesus asks us to forgive all. It doesn’t mean that you need to be around them but I think that if you forgive them, you will have peace in your own heart.
Jesus forgives those who repent their sins and ask His forgiveness. I don’t think it is necessary for us to “forgive” people who are actively sinning against mankind, when they have shown no remorse for their actions.
It is wiser for us *not* to judge them in the first place. I am in the “know not what they do” camp. Half the time I don’t know what I am doing, either. So it is best for us to leave judgement and forgiveness up to God.
All I can do right now is pray to be an instrument of His peace. So far, by and large, it’s been working. When unhappy people see us living our best lives they are naturally drawn to us. If they can open themselves up, we can proceed to teach them a better way to live.
After my mom passes I will be divorcing two or possibly 3 of my younger sisters.
I’m not going to offer family advice but I urge you to read the book “When the Body Says No”.
I urge reading that book and not watching videos by the author Dr Gabor Mate.
I suspect you will find you weren’t close for good reason but I also suspect you will find a great deal of peace.
