President Trump agreed to speak at the National Association of Black Journalist (NABJ) convention in Chicago, while Kamala Harris has declined the invitation. This has set off some kind of political firestorm amid the constituency of primary focus for the Harris campaign in 2024.
As the New York Times reported, President Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks and sit down for a Question-and-Answer session amid the NABJ assembly in Chicago. President Trump previously spoke to NABJ and has always made himself available. The decision by the people controlling Kamala Harris is not being well received, and the black journalists who support Harris are not happy about these political optics.
(New York Times) – A scheduled appearance by former President Donald J. Trump at a conference for Black journalists in Chicago has generated fierce debate.
The National Association of Black Journalists, which is hosting the conference, announced on Monday that Mr. Trump would take part in a question-and-answer session with political reporters on Wednesday.
The conference’s description says the session will “concentrate on the most pressing issues facing the Black community.” Harris Faulkner, a Fox News anchor; Kadia Goba, a politics reporter at Semafor; and Rachel Scott, an ABC News correspondent, will moderate the session. The event is expected to be livestreamed on the organization’s YouTube and Facebook pages.

The spector of Trump being there in person vs. a zoom visit by Kacklin Kamala way off in the future was not lost on those journalists. You earn respect by giving respect. And I thought Trump did that by answering their questions. And I think Trump handled it well smacking down the ABC reporter’s opening long-winded question.

An adjacent topic related to this is that Trump needs to reconsider his stance on legalizing cannabis. The black community is most harmed by the laws related to cannabis, which is provided to us by Mother Nature. It is a god-given medicine that is NOT created in a lab using synthetic chemicals that destroy your body by a for-profit Big Pharma company. The only reason it is illegal is because Big Pharma lobbying money convinced politicians that cannabis is bad and should be illegal.
Many of us (including your doctors) have an outdated view of cannabis that was driven by propaganda in our younger years. The reality is that we were lied to … and those hurt most by cannabis is the black community. Not because they are harmed by using it, but because the laws allow law enforcement to incarcerate them for using a plant-based medicine.
I hope that someone in Trump’s circle can help him understand how important this topic is to the black community.
