If Biden drops out before election day, does Ms. Harris automatically become presidential candidate on the ticket? This would frustrate a lot of other people who struggled through the primaries – Elizabeth Warren, for one. Bernie Sanders is another one.
Will there be “push back” from Democrats who really do not like Harris as a future “President”? What about the media – nothing much is being said on that front by the media.
If Biden does not drop out and just happens to win the presidency, he is not inaugurated until the end of January. so he would need to remain in contention until then. If he bows out afterwards, there is still a VP position open. Does Harris get to nominate her choice? How will the American people feel if her choice is Bernie, or Obama, or Rice, or Jarrett, or someone else who might be anathema to the American public?
Too many unknowns result in speculation.

However…
There are a lot of ways i can think of for Vance to smooth this out….especially because he emphasized dems wanting to help black women get abortions (we know that history). He will need to walk back the organized travel ban inference as a moment of upset and passion though.
He imagines a hypothetical situation, thinks it’s creepy, and then decides that should his imaginary creepy situation comes to pass, the federal government should get involved.
I find that creepy, and I think he needs to learn not to talk so much.
This. His early life was unsettled and violent. Thiel took him into the world of finance, basically a sociopathic culture, and that’s his work experience. He doesn’t appear to have a center. He’s unmoored. Easily influenced as you imply. You buy these types, as Thiel did.
Abortion never should have been the issue in Presidential politics that it became.
Othr than the “Bully pulpit” the ONLY influence a POTUS could have on abortions is in ‘picking’ SCOTUS nominees, and signing Federal legislation.
Looking at History of SCOTUS appointments, past performance is no guarantee, as many have,…disappointed.
As for signing legislation, can’t sign whats not put in front of him, and lets face it there was never going to be Federal legislation with major impact on abortion (nor should there be).
IMHO, both wings of the Uniparty selected Abortion, along with SS/Medicare and several others as “wedge issues” which they both exploited for fund raising and to ‘gyn up’ their bases, and so had NO interest, and in fact were highly motivated to NOT resolve.
Overturning Rowe had the POTENTIAL to de-escalate and de-polarise this issue, and those elements that profit from “keeping it alive” (AS a ‘wedge issue’) are DESPERATELY fighting to KEEP it; their survival depends on it.
Its much like the race-bait organisations like the NAACP; IF they have achieved their stated goal of “ending discrimination” than they no longer have any reason to exist.
Looking at NATO, we can see just how dangerous an organisatuon without a reason for being,…can be.
I guess its a matter of PROPORTION.
Since a President has relatively little to do with abortion, their stance ON abortion shouldn’t be nearly as important as it is made out to be.

I saw a picture taken from behind the lectern that day, after they finally had gotten the president down, with agents of both sexes shielding his body with their own. At that point they couldn’t even be certain the shooting had stopped.
The Secret Service could just as easily used their brains, and with three competing events in the same state, assigned the short women to the VP’s event, as Harris is only 5’2″.
That would have been too much like work.

In the initial Bitcoin white paper, they called it a “system for electronic transactions without relying on trust.” It has turned out to be the opposite. We have no need for government middle men with crypto currency and decentralized blockchaining.
Some crypto currencies, are indeed mined and have intrinsic value. Some are forked and are entirely speculative. Stablecoins are another option for those wanting stability, blockchaining and freedom from regulatory theft.
Most importantly crypto currency and (more importantly) blockchains, free us from the theft and slavery of government regulations.
I think gold has value because it is rare, and it is in demand because has many uses. Cryptos do not have these qualities. And they can be rendered worthless by governments at any time. Also, what if there is a prolonged power outage due to war or natural disaster? What use are they then?
Another problem with cryptos is they are not “green” because they require so much energy to produce. This increases the probability that they will be banned.
So how does that impact me any more than if I did not invest in Bud Loght?

In the eyes of the law, “Bitcoin” and “Crypto” in general are: barter. Albeit with an unusual “barter token” that is a hard-to compute number.
There’s nothing illegal about barter. Some companies in tightly-closed industries routinely use it in trade … to save money. The transactions are accounted for in dollar equivalents, but what’s being passed around isn’t dollars.
You simply have to realize what it is, and isn’t. Crypto is not “legal tender.” Legal tender is something that a creditor cannot refuse to accept in payment of a debt. A crypto token is worth whatever the buyer and seller mutually agree that it is. (Which, for me, is: “nothing.”)
The only thing about barter is that you cannot represent it as “money.” Which is why terminology like “Bitcoin” and “Crypto currency” is technically breaking the law.
Very simply, cryptocurrencies take away a country’s ability to use our money to wage war against other countries without our consent. Winston is slurping at the banking cartels’ troughs who are desperate to maintain their power, not for our benefit but theirs.

I was looking into seeing if I could buy some rubles because I believe the artificially deflated value of the ruble due to sanctions would eventually be lifted. Imagine how shocked I was to find out that our banks would not allow that transaction due to sanctions.
It’s like Sundance has said. The sanctions don’t punish Russia; they only insulate our money from the world.
If you really want to do that, you might be able to by setting up an offshore account with a country that does not honor the sanctions, possibly.
But anything under US, UK or Western Europe control will probably not work. Forget Bahamas, Bermuda, Caymans and probably Switzerland.
Maybe Costa Rica or Panama, or a Pacific rim country maybe others. There could be risks with that though.
And I suspect doing so, or attempting to do so would draw unwanted attention, maybe even arrest/prosecution.
So, I can well understand the appeal, of “betting” ON BRICS, and against WEF, but I doubt its worth it.
As for investing, I’ll stick with my semi-prescious metals of lead, brass and steel; the value of guns and ammo has consistently kept ahead of any inflation, and is IMHO THE logical, and so universally recognised alternative currency people will ‘naturally’ turn to, in any time of crippling depression, hyper inflation, or other calamity.
And, properly stored can never lose its inherent, intrinsic value.
