I met a Medal of Honor recipient at a dinner once. Most of his wounds were shrapnel from the helicopter as he took fire flying in to rescue wounded troops.

This was all planned and pushed forward for timing…designed to suck away the momentum of President Trump’s amazing convention. The cabal and their compliant propaganda outlets succeeded. If Trump is allowed to win….or the margin is too big to rig, we must realize something. While actual inflation rate may slow and moderate, the high prices from 3 years ago will remain. Prices (especially grocery prices) will probably never go back to 2020 levels. By definition, that would require deflation, not just minor price adjustments. With promised more oil extraction, gas prices may go down, which will help.
And we must be prepared that commies in the media and political dregs will then begin putting inflation front and center when it wasn’t a problem in 2024. And they will probably tie inflation to Trump promised tariffs.
Hopefully, the fresh cross over Trump voters will realize this.
If inflation lowers and stabilizes, it will give wages an opportunity to catch up. Additionally, interest rates would go back down which will allow people to refinance their mortgages providing extra money in their pockets. Lastly, I fully expect price of gas to go down.
Why would you doubt Trumponomics? Did the tariffs cause inflation last time? They worked the first time, and people remember that already which is why they’re willing to re-elect him.
I don’t doubt Trumponomics. Inflation adjustment might be doable if the total cumulative inflation during Bidumb was 7-10%, but cumulative inflation in these 3.5 years is probably more like 17-20%……or more in some cases. And if wages go up to help compensate, chances are that prices will go up again too. The institutional memory is a matter of weeks.
And yes, gas prices going down will be the best chance for pocket book evidence of something used often getting less expensive.
Mortgage rates. I read somewhere that 5% is the best medium range where savers (read seniors with CDs and such) also get something and buyers don’t have eyes bigger than their wallets.
Regarding CD rates. I’ve been loving the last couple years. My mortgage is low fixed rate and my CDs are making almost 5%.
And yes, I know I’m probably barely breaking even with my CDs to inflation, but my goal is to not touch the principle. Which is what they want. High velocity of money (quick movement of money thru the system since inflation is high, their main goal with inflation). My CDs slow that money velocity down to a crawl.
Sorry to go on. And maybe my CDs are partly me throwing sand in the gears/giving them the finger. “No, I’m not going to do what you want me to do.”

Though I understand the ‘concept/theory’ of inflation, always wondered about the group mentality of ‘inflation, gotta raise prices because everyone is raising prices.’ 🤔
There’s probably a bit of both, but generically companies just have a target margin that they’ve decided optimizes profit while not getting too far out of the range of your competition. If you’re just raising prices arbitrarily someone will decide they can undercut you and take your business away while still making a profit.
I work for a company that does manufacturing. Our price to our customers has gone way up, but we haven’t changed our margins. Cost of materials is just that much higher.
And when energy is more expensive, everything becomes more expensive. That said, I don’t think energy prices lowering will cause anyone to lower prices of goods. That one only seems to work in one direction.

The one thing President Trump accomplished 2017-2020 was REDUCING the cost of business, which lead to reduced cost of living for the main street economy via deregulation, reduced taxes, tariffs and reduction reduction in other costs such as fuel. He made such that consumers could drive down cost via improved selection. These are among the few non-legislative driven efforts the President of the US can take.
Before make such statement … this is one area even a skeptic and realist like myself is willing President Trump a chance to work on improving.

Bless you my friend. I too am sick, tired, disgusted old woman. Between being called a troll and stupid on this forum .. I do not want to give up. I want a better way to beat them. Hollywood’s portrayal of a “Manchurian Candidate” aside, American elections were held in person, using paper ballots, counted by human beings, with other human beings watching them. And, however vicious and corrupt the normal partisan interplay of American politics may have been, this practice insured that a fair enough election could be held. Today that is no longer the case.
Regardless of who the nominees are in 2024, just as in 2020, much of America will hold their elections in the least transparent, most vulnerable method possible: absentee ballots. Because of this, a free and fair election cannot be assured. It matters not that President Trump is ahead in all the polls and in ways that some pollsters believe cannot be overcome. Citizens should expect that, since America is in a war with Communist China, November’s election will be the target of a massive intelligence operation to decide the next president.
It should be noted that America’s election system was not built to stop the Communist Chinese or any nation state, or for that matter any dark money group, with the capacity and the interest in deciding an American presidential election.
The United States is made vulnerable by being the only developed country in the world to allow for this wide-spread use of absentee ballots. Every other advanced democracy conducts their elections in person, with identification shown, on paper ballots counted by large groups of people transparently tallying vote totals with the results available the same day of the election. In states around America, Secretaries of State have allowed or been part of the development of elections systems that would appear to be designed to allow for fraud. So whether or not an election is stolen, a free and fair election system has been stolen from the American people. Today we have systems that lack transparency, whether it is the absentee ballot process or the electronic voting systems.

I remind you that Harris received exactly zero votes for President in the Democrat primaries this time around and in fact polled around 1% in the 2020 election season, forcing her out of contention before anything really going. Now she’s presumptively on the top of the ticket despite having not received a single vote in a single primary and no, being someone’s VP is not the same thing as the head of the ticket — and we all know that.
Indeed it is exceedingly rare that a VP selection has any bearing on the outcome of a Presidential race.
The real question is how it is that President Biden went from “I’m in the race and I’m going to serve the next term” to “its time to pass the torch and by the way I’m unilaterally choosing who it gets passed to” in the space of less than 24 hours. What Joe Biden (at the urging of his party, of course) just did may well be the most undemocratic means of selecting a Presidential Candidate in the history of the United States. Literally no President in history has hand-picked his successor on the ticket unless I’ve missed something in our nearly 250-year history — but I don’t think so. Indeed the closest analog I can find — which did have an actual primary season and such — was Humphrey, who lost (along with Wallace, a third party candidate) in 1968 to Nixon.
What happened is not “illegal” in that as I’ve repeatedly noted over the years you’re not owed a choice at all on a Presidential party ticket — that’s the nature of the game for this office. However, it remains true that to claim you’re the “Party of Democracy” when your succession system looks an awful lot like Khrushchev being deposed out of the USSR in October of 1964 is far beyond the realm of “bad joke” and into the realm of actual communist control, at least within the party itself. Indeed the parallels are striking in that the Khrushchev event was a true “palace coup” at that time orchestrated by Leonid Brezhnev with the cooperation of the party — and of Brezhnev who succeeded him.

By claiming this is what happened at the meeting, if Bobby were to decide to drop out and endorse Trump, one or both of them could be accused of a crime if Trump decided to bring Bobby in to his administration (which he most likely would have done).

Reasons for not having children – or being unlikely to ever have them – differ between the older and younger groups. The top response for those ages 50 and older is that it just didn’t happen. Meanwhile, those in the younger group are most likely to say they just don’t want to have kids. Women younger than 50 are especially likely to say they just don’t want to have children (64% vs. 50% of men in this group).
I think we shouldn’t focus entirely on women, it looks like men don’t want them either.
Of people under 50 who have chosen to not have kids:
44% said they wanted to focus on different things. 38% pointed to the state of the world, other than the environment. And 36% said they couldn’t afford to raise a child.
The survey was quite thorough and shows the complexity of the situation.

Can you elaborate? What exactly about “feminism” are you referring to? Because fundamental feminism doesn’t tell women or men to not have kids, fundamental feminism is the wish for women to have the ability to vote, to work, to not be excluded from opportunities simply because they are women, etc. None of those things stop women or men from wanting to have kids. But reasons mentioned in my prior post do, like not being able to afford it, hating the state of the world and not wanting to bring kids into it, etc. That has nothing to do with feminism.

I would say they never got along. 🙂 Women have been treated rather abysmally throughout all of history, well into the 1950s and 1960s. Feminism has taught women that motherhood has little to no status. Career is most important.
Most feminists I know have children, and these couples deciding against kids are not citing feminism or status of women or anything as the reason for their mutual decision.
A lot of people may not like feminism, but there is no evidence that feminist views have anything at all to do with choosing to not have kids, or not having kids not by choice.
I consider myself a feminist (the fundamental type, wanting as much equality as is reasonable/possible). What I want is for women to do what they want to do. If a woman wants to take care of a home, husband, and kids, power to her. If she wants to have a career outside of the home, power to her too. And if she wants to combine the two, power to her and wow lady you have way more energy than I do. 🙂

Women have *always* “voted & worked” – women do 80% of the unpaid work in the world (last time I checked); women vote with every dime they spend – and always have.

That’s not feminism though. That’s something else. I don’t suffer from any of the isms you mentioned but I am a feminist. And I’m female, if I haven’t mentioned that elsewhere. And I have an excellent education, I’m in a male-dominated career, I own my own home, I control my reproduction, and I do a lot of other things women didn’t used to be able to do. I’m able to do these things because feminists before me fought to win these rights. I just want to be clear that I am not a man-hater nor do I think women can do every job that a man can do, I actually celebrate men and celebrate the differences between men and women, and I don’t kill or support the killing of unborn babies. I just want to be clear about that. 🙂 AND there are probably far more women like me who are Trump supporters than people might imagine.
I suggest one could actually combine the 38% “State of the World Group” and the 36% “Economic Conditions Group” to make up allot of the missing 56% beyond the 44% “Don’t want to group”.
It would be interesting to see the breakdown of the 44% “Don’t Want to Group” because even some of them are likely pressured by the “World and Economic Situations” vs the “Brainwashed Libbers” and those who truly do not want children.
An interesting comparison can be made with the animal kingdom. Mother nature influences species feeling the stress of environment to slow reproduction vs species that actually increase reproduction with improving environment…now consider which groups are reducing reproduction vs groups with increasing reproductive rates among the human species…replacement theory being implemented anyone?? As legal and illegal migrants move into improved environments, their reproductive rates are increasing vs the Affluent (White, Yellow, et al) inhabitants feeling the pressure to sustain a way of living or “advanced social environment” who have declining rates.
For the sake of power and money elite members of the affluent group are self destructing by willingly increasing pressure on the productive affluent to NOT TO REPRODUCE via that we see today.

I don’t think it’s appropriate to compare human reproduction to wild animal reproduction, because in the wild so many females are, essentially, raped. They have no choice. Sometimes there are multiple males chasing a female just to have sex with her. And then for many (maybe most) species the female is left alone to deal with the pregnancy, have the babies, and care for the babies. I hope nobody thinks humans should behave like this (but we know some do!).
I think in our current era I can say that the groups who are reproducing most quickly are the ones that don’t treat women well or prevent them from having control of anything. Muslims are probably the worst, even the ones who reside in the U.S. But some of the other groups are little better. If I’m right, then blaming women is blaming the victims.
Also in the “wild” among some animals, a new male in a group will kill the young offspring of prior males to send the female into heat again so the new male can father offspring. Works for our feral barn cats. (We try to trap and spay/neuter as many as we can but they outbreed us and it’s expensive.)
I’m not saying this happens among humans.
Calhoun did a study of a huge Norway rat colony (1958 – 1962) that had no limitations on food and after many generations the entire colony of thousands just went extinct. He couldn’t figure out why, but he noticed that before the end there were quite a few rats that just were antisocial and spent their time alone, grooming themselves, along with female rats that didn’t know how to be maternal even if they/their pups survived birth.

I suggested looking at any info, I just happened to choose Pew because I think they are among the more reputable survey/polling organizations.
There is a large cohort of women who desired to have children, who were strung along by the boyfriend. When they finally realize he’s never going to marry them, they go looking for someone new, but it is too late.
Those men would count as not wanting children.
I notice this became a big deal issue just in time to divide Americans even more, as an election comes up.
Sometimes the issue is the window of time in which one can have children. Men have a much longer window of fertility than women do. Biologically, women have about 20 years (puberty to mid-thirties) of unobstructed fertility. After the mid-30s, infertility becomes an issue, and by about 41, interfertility undergoes an exponential rise, making pregnancy rare without medical interventions. Because women carry the children physically, there is also a limit on the window of fertility treatments after which it becomes hazardous for women to carry a pregnancy to term.
Men, on the other hand, can sire children from puberty into their old age. They also have no risk to their own bodies in the process so there is no other natural delimiter other than sperm production and the ability to attract a mate.
Men in their 20s and 30s have years ahead of them to procreate and do not see an urgency to do so. Women, on the other hand, have stricter delimiters and need to procreate sooner. It is this natural difference that causes relationships like the one you describe in which a man “strings along” a woman. He has no urgent need but she does. He wants to continue to have fun and can do so because of birth control and abortion. He knows there will be other women later in life with whom he can procreate. Women need to understand this and also understand the limitations on their own fertility.
The only thing that offsets this difference in fertility windows is values. If a man is raised in a faith or tradition that values monogamy, marriage, and having children young, then this man will be much more willing to make a commitment. Nature has been superseded by a value system.
If you’re a young woman who wants children, you need to find a man with these kinds of values. but they are getting harder and harder to find.
Otherwise, young women should have a rule that if a man has not proposed within 2 years of the beginning of dating, move on. Do not hang on for years and lose your chance at children.

I do too and it is good sound advice and does not bash women.

I’m of the first generation after the onset of the “why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free” behavior and I have a dozen unmarried childless friends who fall into this category. And who I personally know wanted to be mothers, when they were younger.
Since there is a huge disparity in the voting habits of married versus unmarried women we can see why this is such a pronounced effect on our elections. Instead of voting against those influences which basically ruined their hopes/dreams, the Betty Friedan/Gloria Steinem/Jane Fonda types, they vote largely to entrench these habits for following generations. Just, not theirs, unless they’re among the fatherless contingent.
We’re never going back. I remember before the Roe v. Wade decision, people were still civilized enough to be ashamed of promiscuous activity; now they brag about it, they televise it, they shape public policies around it. What’s good for society, for the family, for the child, is completely irrelevant now that we live in a society which wholly celebrates sheer hedonism.

Don’t forget 1960’s “free love” uninhibited sexual activity with random partners, one-on-one or in groups, and the 1970’s disco-era extension of it (which blew up in all of their faces with the AIDS epidemic). People were proud of their hypersexual behavior then too.
The 1960’s “free love” era coincided with the introduction of the birth control pill which allowed women a freedom they had never had before. It blasted a hole in personal, religious & cultural value systems! Without this newly found freedom, feminism would have never occurred.
Life is much less chaotic after I decided to keep it in my pants. Besides what decent woman wants to be with an unmedicated under employed chronic pain patient with 4 cats and a pit bull mix?
Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda were IC ‘assets’. How about Betty Friedan?
Never underestimate the power of propaganda, especially when it is reflected in every mass media outlet, even in entertainment. Women who came of age in the late seventies and early eighties were children or young teens when The Mary Tyler Moore Show sold them the idea that marriage could be delayed indefinitely, and that work gave you a “family.”
That show is an interesting time capsule. I had reason to actually watch it recently (my niece is taking a course about the 1970s–yes, they have courses in that!) She is one of my favorite nieces 🙂 so I sat and binged watched some episodes with her for her class. (Make sure to have plenty of beer handy if you ever decide to do this. :D)
Here’s what I got from it.
My niece’s professor told them that this was one of the important shows of the 1970s for women sociologically. I actually agree, but it’s not a positive thing. It’s actually really depressing if you are female. A guy who wants kids will probably not pick Mary at 37. He’ll be looking for a younger woman. The one guy she will get is a divorced guy with a greedy ex and bratty kids.
My niece asked me what I thought, and I said it was a shame that Mary didn’t find a husband. My niece told me her professor would know for certain I was a Trump voter. I said to tell the prof that I am proudly so. 😀

I remember The Mary Tyler Moore Show being one of a handful of shows that my Mom and Dad enjoyed watching, which means that it was part of my ‘programming’.
Thankfully my Dad and I watched Hee Haw every Saturday, and I continued to sit in and watch Soul Train, which compensated somewhat, for any propaganda that I was exposed to!

There is a large cohort of women who desired to have children, who were strung along by the boyfriend. When they finally realize he’s never going to marry them, they go looking for someone new, but it is too late.
Good point. I know some women who were in that situation. It’s just another reason to not focus on women as being the problem.
And then think about the number of women who did have kids with guys and then the guys took off. Unless the women are on welfare and getting paid to have more kids, I think most women would be wary of having more kids. I know some women in that situation, too. And women who know women who have experienced that problem might be wary of having kids. I don’t blame any women for being hesitant.
IOW, 74% probably would have children if the world was more stable, affordable and safer. Nothing makes you feel more vulnerable than the worry of not being able to take care of those you are responsible for who are more vulnerable than you.
It’s unspoken, but I suspect there is also a fear among young couples, after seeing what happens to parents whose child has autism, that they are better off not taking that risk.
That didn’t used to be a consideration, but nowadays who doesn’t know a family with an autistic child, and seen the hardship firsthand?
If you are at all ambivalent in the first place, that can certainly tip the balance toward no children.
