The money that was put on the ‘shorts’ is a small fraction of what they would have profited is forfeited. Kind of like a bet at a horse racing gambling window.
The ‘bet’ is akin to making a huge odds bet.
IE, Bet a few million on the chance of making billions.
A few million is nothing to these people. It would be like one of us betting $1-2k on a 200 to 1 odds horse in a horse race that we had inside information on.
A short sell is the strategy of “selling” a stock you do not own at a high price and then buying it when it drops to a lower price. Your profit is the margin.
If the stock does not drop in price, a short seller must either wait it out for the stock to drop,or cover his short at a higher price and take the loss.
When investors who are short a stock cover their loss, they are “buying” the stock back and it drives the stock further up, at least temporarily.
So a huge short, being covered would drive the stock up.
How is that possibly legal? It is absolutely ridiculous.
These were actually ‘put’ options which are a little bit different.
You buy the option of X number of shares for a high sell price that is locked in, for example, at $40 per share.
When the stock tanks to, for example, $5 per share, you exercise your ‘rights’ to sell those shares under your purchased option at the locked in sale price per share using the now new declined cost. There are time limits also on options that will expire if not exercised and the funds used to purchase are gone.
Using the imaginary sell price and cost that I proffered, there would be a $35 per share profit margin with no requirement to actually purchase shares, and it is automatic.
Using $35 per share profit (example only) X 12,000,000 shares would have been a profit of $420,000,000.
The part we don’t know is what was the ‘strike’ (sell) price that was purchased on the put, nor what would have happened (how bad of a decrease) in the event of a successful assassination.
Using an extreme of $75 sell and $5 cost would have grossed $840,000,000 minimum.
It doss appear that there was an approximate minimum 1/2 billion dollar bet made though.

And that camera captured the bullet speeding by. I read it was very unusual for a camera like that to be at a rally.

Kamala is running on her “imagine what can be”, “root causes” of migration failures, (without any authority to ACTUALLY change immigration policies); is now running on the Biden-Kamala “unburdened by the past” record – without a definition of herself in any way. Her appeal to young people with her standard Democratic talking points about the issue of the day or the news cycle hasn’t managed to make her work on any of it matter; as in writing a term paper, not real-world change.

She tried to shut down the sex work–friendly website Backpage as attorney general of California, then offered support for decriminalizing sex work at the start of her presidential campaign, then later said on a debate stage that she would still arrest men paying for sex. Running for San Francisco district attorney, Harris said she wouldn’t use the state’s three-strikes policy when the third strike wasn’t a serious or violent felony; in office, she went back on that promise. Examples like these are numerous.

In hindsight, it would seem Harris was ALWAYS the deep state’s first choice to be President when, seeing her abysmal performance in the 2020 Democrat primaries, had her drop out before the first primary vote and keep her on ice until their second choice, Biden, could be inserted as the candidate and then inform FJB who it will be that will be his VP running mate, Harris.
When that happened, any pretense that a party naming itself Democrat, was anything but pro-democracy; and given that we all know the left projects onto others what they are really doing, by screaming they must “save democracy” simply means they intend to destroy democracy.
I think that’s actually the point of her being elevated to this position.
Instead of people being concerned that we don’t know who is actually making decisions–people or groups who are unelected and unaccountable to the citizens… people will actually feel relieved that she is (just as Biden was) not actually making administrative decisions.
When you combine that with the limits the SC’s Chevron decision re-established on federal agencies, the White House becomes fully accessible to the global private sector — and especially the financial hub of the west, the BIS, whose charter makes it unaccountable to, and protected from investigation by, any nation or agency on earth.
