I don’t get all the dislike for JD Vance. An American success story from rags to riches and a rare politician who served his country as a US Marine. I think it was an excellent choice by President Trump who did not go for political correctness and chose a VP to fill a race or gender quota. Good for him. And I liked the emphasis on the younger generation in our party. It was the best RNC convention I have ever seen and I have seen them starting with Ike.
As posted on an earlier thread, I’m an Ohioan who attended a Trump rally where JD Vance was also there. Going by gut feeling, I liked him. Definitely way better than the gut feeling I had about Pence. One thing I’m not thrilled about is that DeWine gets to pick his replacement for Senate. Meanwhile, President Trump chose him, I’ll support him.
And I’m with you 4sure … what a great RNC convention this is … Was thinking about how if my Dad was still alive, he’d be really enjoying watching it on TV.
Any reservations I had regarding Vance have evaporated, I will vote early and often for the Trump/Vance ticket.
As a political junkie I too have watched many a Convention, even Dem ones, and this one stands apart as unique.
As much a Trump rally as a political convention, I do think the Republican party IS well on its way to being MAGA now.
Still need to work on the 50+ “franchises”; the STATE Republican parties,, but we are well up the hierarchy, and climbing higher every day.
Dare I say, taken as a whole so far as opposed to focusing on a single great speech by a single person, the quality of this RNC convention overall seems higher to me than even an RNC convention featuring the Great Communicator Ronald Reagan. This convention has depth, sincerity, feeling, meaning, motivation, warmth, caring, strength, honor, President Trump … and yes MAGA supporters … and UNITY. So it seems I’m becoming more than “cautiously optimistic”! 🙂

If you are at Trump rally and you see something wrong, ie a guy on a roof with what appears to be a rifle, don’t try yelling at the police on site, DIAL 911 AND REPORT AN ACTIVE SHOOTER.
I am still flabbergasted that all these witnesses relied on the local LE/SS presence to do something.
Once you dial 911 report an active shooter, the dispatcher must take it seriously, and escalate the situation. And when we’re looking at a political rally with the former President of the United States, they are now in the hot seat, regardless of the SS. And the call to 911 is recorded from the very start, so it can’t be buried as easily.

So I swapped keys to similar appearing ones once he was finally convinced that he smelled like a goat and really needed a bath…poor Dad…I loved him an still do…he tried to drive for another six months but finally the thought left him.
My Mom’s issue was she kept saying she wanted to go home. (sundowners)
I would tell her she WAS home and she would say HER home. I worried she would walk away from home and get lost if she wasn’t watched closely, so watch her I did.
She lived in that home since the early ’60’s, over 50 years, so I could only figure she was thinking of a childhood home.
After she passed it occurred to me that the home she had wanted to go to was the one prepared for her in Heaven. I was just too caught up in dealing with her getting lost to realize it at the time.

My Mother’s house would fly to a different city every day where she would meet the people she had been watching on TV like Perry Mason, etc. My brother-in-law is the one who made her house fly. She was 95 when she passed.
