Culture drives many things. Consider women’s fashion, popular music, and the influence of celebrities over the last 100 years. The jazz age of the 1920s saw women leave Edwardian dress for flapper shifts, and bathing suits rose above the knee. Ten years later, film star Marlene Deitrich wore trousers and Oxfords.

Later with rock and roll, young girls were fashionable in poodle skirts and saddle shoes while drinking chocolate malts at the Woolworth lunch counter while young men rolled up their blue jeans and built hot rods. First Lady Jaqueline Kennedy introduced pillbox hats in the 60s, and by the 70’s, the hippie look with beads and bell bottoms had taken over.

Fast forward to 2024 and the age of the internet and access to everything, all the time, anywhere, and all at once. Now things come into and fall out of fashion in a matter of days or hours.

Author, pastor and podcaster Jon Courson in his commentary on today’s verse wrote, “Are you a thermometer—adjusting to the temperature of the culture, or are you a thermostat—changing the climate of the culture? If you are a conformer, a thermometer, you’re in for perpetual frustration because by the time you take the temperature and figure out what’s hot, by the time you change your look, or buy the car, or redo your house—the world will have moved on, leaving you out of style.”

You may let cultural trends define your selection of clothes or automobiles, but God wants your inner self to be adorned with grace, righteousness, mercy, humility, and justice (Micah 6:8).

John Piper suggests in transforming your mind you “cultivate the mindset of exiles. What this does mainly is sober us up and wake us up so that we don’t drift with the world and take for granted that the way the world thinks and acts is the best way.”

God wants you to take your cues from His Word, and that relates to all issues in your manner of life.

You are a representative of His eternal kingdom.

You must do what is right for your soul and body and seek always to glorify the Lord.

Pray for Christian leaders who have broad followings and great influence to live godly before everyone.

Our world is indeed imperfect but our warrior is ascendant and that is what I focus on!

It grieves me, as a life long practising Catholic of 82 plus years, to come on here to relate that I have searched various social media sites without finding any mention from MY Pope about the attempted assassination of your great past and future President. Traditionally the Pope address world events during his Sunday morning mass at the Vatican. This Sunday – no. Mind you there was no mention of the thousands of Christian who have been slaughtered in Northern Nigeria and Sudan either by practitioners of the religion of peace ™ The press office did come out with something about political violence without mentioning President Trump.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
In this he has joined other suspects like Gates, Schwab, little Castro and his mentor Soros.
It is getting more and more difficult for me in my declining years to cling on to my faith.

.Trees down, neighbor lost part of their roof. I55 shutdown south of me. I lost a birch. internet out. My neighbors literally climbed on my roof o ct the trees nd get it off the roof. Yesterday, I thought there was something different about the heat & humidity. Like 1990 & the Plainfield tornado but not hearing of any fatalities…JWoo am thinking about our conversation…

So this is really bothering me.

Seems we all have been praying constantly to God to protect and save our DJT,and country.

At the close of day one of the convention,they allow a prayer that is not to Jehovah, they bring in false religion.
It made me feel sick.

How can we ask for his divine intervention and then do this?

If I am wrong,please explain it to me.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
 
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
 
Lord, I know that You have scheduled every day of my life. Help me to trust You in all things and rely on You to lead me along the straight path and guide me in the direction that You would have me to go.

WHY THIS DARKNESS HAD TO BE ALLOWED.

I, the Lord, have seen My creation under attack, My children under great oppression, stress, pressure, sorrow, anguish, fear, worry, and anxiety. I have seen the constant torment and struggle. I have seen the burdens the taskmasters in your nations and governments have subjected you to. I have heard and seen all they have done to you.

I will not allow it to continue. I will not allow the ruling class to stay in power and keep you in bondage. You may ask, “Lord, why was this allowed? Why, Lord, is the world so dark? Why, Lord, have these people been allowed to stay in power for so long, torturing us like this?”

My children, may I remind you that I was the One Who was allowed to be thrown out of your government while My people stayed silent. I was the One thrown out of the schools while My people stayed silent. I was the One taken out of businesses while My people stayed silent. I was allowed to be thrown out of many churches while My people continued to stay silent. I was thrown out of your justice system while My people remained silent.

I had to allow certain things because I was no longer wanted. I was no longer welcomed. Now you see what is left when I am not there. I did not want this for you. I did not want to leave any of those places, but I was forced out because My people did nothing to stand and fight for Me to stay there. But I have heard the cries of My people now, and I will deliver you. I will answer your prayers. I will destroy your enemies’ power and remove them in this hour.

Now you know. Now you believe and understand My Words and how to use the authority I have given to you. You have been awakened to see the truth. Many people were deceived into believing their twisted way of thinking. Your enemies tricked so many into believing that I did not belong in those places or that I did not want or care about politics and government.

Do you see how your enemies got into your churches? My children believed those doctrines instead of reading and believing My own Word and what I said.

It may be dark. It may be very uncomfortable. I know many have suffered at the hands of this government and these world leaders. That is why there had to be an awakening. There had to be a shaking. There had to be desperation in some so that they would turn and look to Me. When people were comfortable, living life how they thought they wanted to live, they did not pray or call upon Me like before. And in this time, when My people are not seeking Me for deliverance or truth, your adversary sneaks in, and he steals and kills and destroys My people and My lands.

Do you see now why things are this bad, why the enemies were in power, how they were allowed to be in those positions, and how they did so much damage? If I am not in any of these places of power, then your enemy is. There is no other choice.

I have heard your prayers to take them out and to bring My Glory and My presence back in. I have heard your prayers, wanting freedom and restoration from all that your enemies have done and stolen from you.

I will show you great removals and great restoration. I am moving My hand, and I am healing your land. Do not quit now. Do not give in. Do not be moved by what they try next. Their days of being in power and control are over, saith the Lord of Hosts.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
