Howdy Gramps! Re: diets. Purely by accident I found a way to enjoy great tacos . . . and also lose weight. Yesteerday, for instance, I ordered two chorizo and egg tacos, ate one whole (delicious btw) and opened the other and ate the chorizo and egg filling.
Doing this over time (there are some variations) has allowed me to lose another 5lbs since a doctor’s visit in late May and another visit on 7-5. Eating food that I like (chorizo/egg are close to zero carbs) has enabled a weight loss to date of 38 pounds.
Protein seems to be key in weight loss. Good for you!!!

American composer (An American in Paris, Porgy And Bess, Summertime), dies from a brain tumor at 38
Biography: Of Russian and Jewish heritage, George Gershwin grew up in the tenements of New York to become one of the 20th century’s most important composers.
Gershwin worked as a “song plugger” from the age of 15, his first big hit was the song “Swanee” with words by Irving Caesar. He went on to produce the classical work, “Rhapsody in Blue” in 1924, establishing his ability to mix different musical styles, from classical to jazz to popular music.
A number of musicals followed which have become classics including “Funny Face” (1927), “An American in Paris (1928) and “Girl Crazy” (1930), which made a star of Ginger Rogers. Many of his musicals were written with his older brother Ira Gershwin as the lyricist, including the opera “Porgy and Bess” which premiered in 1935.
In 1936 Gershwin moved to Hollywood to write music for films, winning his sole Academy Award (with brother Ira) for “They Can’t Take That Away from Me” from the 1937 film “Shall We Dance”. The honor came posthumously, as he died of brain tumor complications before the film’s release.
George Gershwin was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970. The US Postal Service honored George by himself with a commemorative stamp in 1973, and together with his brother Ira in 1999. In 2007, the US Library of Congress established the “Gershwin Prize for Popular Song” in honor of the brothers, awarded to a composer or performer for their lifetime contributions to popular music.

Many of these things were once good – but now? They are difficult to navigate.
Then, I remember the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis.
God is at work in our lives for our good – and the good of others.
Trusting in His Providential care in every circumstance will see us through.
Otherwise, we will live miserably while continuing to fight every change over which we have no control.
I’m still learning to love the life which God has given me.
It’s not all I had hoped for, but He knows best.
Lately, I find myself remembering better days, and my eyes fill up with tears.
Even so, God puts those in His bottle – every single one. (Psalm 56:8)
He understands … and He cares for us.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

In “Economic Planning and the Knowledge Problem,” Israel Kirzner distinguishes between two types of knowledge problems that arise in plan coordination. Knowledge Problem A describes situations arising from undue optimism. These are self-correcting in any situation because undue optimism shows itself to be erroneous when acted upon. Examples include a buyer’s erroneous thinking that a price is lower than it is or a suitor’s attempt to woo a girl who is not interested in him. The optimism induces action that leads to frustration.
Knowledge Problem B, on the other hand, describes situations arising from undue pessimism, which crucially are not necessarily self-correcting since an actor’s pessimism can lead to his avoiding confrontation with the true state of affairs. Examples include a would-be buyer not going to a market because of his erroneous belief that a price is higher than what he is willing to pay or a would-be suitor not approaching an attractive girl because he believes her not to be interested in him. […]
The significance of this lies in the fact that within the domain of international politics as in culture, Knowledge Problems B can remain unsolved indefinitely. It simply cannot be known whether behavioral norms currently in place generate or destroy value—that is, whether they are worth maintaining because they truly do facilitate plan coordination or are merely costly formalisms that have outlived their utility. That is not to say that traditions are not worth maintaining, but as Gustav Mahler (erroneously) paraphrased Thomas More, tradition means passing on the flame, not conserving the ashes.
For comparison, it is for their own sake that we maintain and pass on the religious and cultural traditions of our ancestors l’dor vador, and doing so is thus praxeologically an act of consumption. …
… [T]he existence of norms unrelated to the state’s raison d’être implies a scope of activity very different from what is justified by that purpose alone, as if the government were somehow a necessary contributor to civilization or even an end in and of itself. Crucially, it is from such assumptions (that the state should do something other than safeguard life, liberty, and property) that the impetus to erode traditional norms arises, for no attempt to change the social organism’s phenotype can result on the part of an institution solely concerned with maintaining its existential basis. Therefore, the cultivation of traditions can only take place in inverse proportion to the size of the state beyond the minimum required to fulfill its protective role.
