I often wonder how I ever fit a job into the day.
I had to stop working 7 days a week once we got into WuFlu, I had no idea what day it was.
Was going to start taking off some time by opening 4 hours late on Wed & Sun (the slower days) … well that got quickly thrown out the window as another business owner (1st venue, lost lease) who was a pizza customer) wanted me to start karaoke again (14 months into WuFlu) gave him a choice Wed or Sun… he chose Wed & basically been doing every Wed until a few weeks ago when place I was at got closed (2nd venue) … woo hoo … I got a full day off now!
Yes, I work more now as “retired” than I ever did as a master mechanic, however it is easier work but longer hours.

if this oriole is frequenting your h’bird feeder, then you should put out a jelly feeder for him. He would be most happy!
I use generic grape jelly, as this is cheaper than the “bird store oriole jelly”, and it is also safe for them.
he is going to your h’bird feeder because it resembles his diet, the sweet nectar. The fact that he frequently comes shows that you have attracted him already, so he should have no problem finding the jelly!

The kitty world at your place doing ok?
Kitty world is good. The Maine Coon is still throwing tantrums. The “littles” come running up to him like “Ya wanna piece of me?!!!” and Harry Houdini is the biggest coward of them all. He hisses, the babies get big and fluffy with hunched backs and they think it’s “Game on like Donkey Kong”. They are hilarious. Truly the best behaved babies I have ever seen. Harry tries to hide under my computer desk hutch behind my monitor. He can’t hide forever. Alzheimer’s kitty has been nose to nose – and he’s not hissing at the babies – he’s hissing at Harry. Crazy.

Ok. It was a bit more impressively complex than what I got used to back in the 60s. We had a drummer who could riff out the cleanest and snappiest fatback I’d ever heard. But we played a lot of Motown
I came across this historic Segovia concert from ’79. The sound is a little flakey (the didn’t use a Nagra recorder like we did in the studio at the time, but still this performance shows the absolute genius of a Segovia concert. Segovia is regarded as the greatest classical guitarist in history. This concert will show why this is a legitimate claim. His playing is exquisite.
Once, at one of his Jones Hall performances in Houston, he had a memory slip. He was playing Handel’s Aylesford pieces. I was seated with a collection of Segovia enthusiasts—all of us players of different skills levels. We knew the music of course and held our breath . . . Then the greatest classical guitarist of all time simply improvised a few Handel-like bars, caught up with where he needed to be . . . and finished the pieces he was playing.
If you didn’t know the music you would have never known the lapse. Of course, we did know the lapse, but we were astonished at how he simply improvised . . . and then went on as though nothing important had happened. This is something the greatest living classical guitar could do with complete ease.
Brought Segovia out to the hottub (which we are now keeping tepid!) to listen to and relax. Other than throwing a tennis ball to the Pointer Sisters every minute or two, it’s very relaxing. 😁 Most enjoyable.

Once saved a great horned owl. It was in the road, in the fog near Florissant, CO. A Chevy Blazer went over it and knocked it down. Saved it, local vet repaired wings but was missing a thumb talon so went to a zoo for rest of its life.

When I got my puppy…I could hear them suddenly…there were two that would show up hooting in the trees when we did potty breaks…first it was one and then in a few days I heard two…scared me…when I got the puppy, he was very small…6 1/2 lbs…and just a little bigger than a squirrel…at 13 weeks….an bird to be respected…

We were adopted by a little street kitty my wife named “Calico”. At first she lived in a brush pile on the
street. My wife brushed the burrs and stickers out of long fur and started putting food and water out
on our front porch. Soon she was running down our long driveway to greet us when we got home from
our teaching jobs. Her path was soon spotted by an owl. A contest between Calico and the owl who
had learned our schedule. Fortunately she was a pretty savvy little street kitty who knew the score. She
was *just* fast enough to reach the safety of our porch. This went on until we bought our current house
whereupon Calico came to live with our 3 dogs and 6 kitties. She fit right in.
Awww! Garrison. Bless you and the missus. It’s a mini-society. It never ceases to amaze me how they all adjust.

Biography: Louis-Jacques Daguerre was a French artist and photographer, recognized primarily for his significant contributions to the field of photography. He is most famously known for developing the daguerreotype process of photography, which became the first commercially successful photographic process in the mid-19th century.
Before his adventures in photography, Daguerre was a skilled decorator and creator of theater sets, and was a pioneer in diorama presentation. Enhanced convective outlook moves into central NY today. Some nasty tornadoes yesterday in Indiana down just across the river from Louisville.

For the Atlantic the African wave train is not likely to develop anything for a week or so because of heavy dust coming off the Continent. So the only place right now showing a potential for tropical development is the area just off Florida’s east coast that I mentioned yesterday that Joe Bastardi has been keeping an eye on and which the NHC has finally recognized.

Repentance is a word not often heard from pulpits in today’s America. Even in the most scholarly, Bible-teaching churches, weeks may go by without a mention of Calvary and Jesus’ atoning death for the forgiveness of sin. Repentance is a prominent theme in the Book of Acts. When Peter began preaching, he urged people to repent. His message to the predominantly Jewish listeners was the need to receive the Messiah they had rejected, and it was necessary for them to change their thinking in order to do that. It would be a difficult U-turn for many, coming to recognize they were moving in the wrong direction.
Pastor and professor Dr. Mickey Anders writes, “Repentance speaks to an urgent need which we all feel to reorient life so that it will be centered around the right goals, centered around God. … It means to step back and take stock, to evaluate the present direction of life, and then to decide if we are headed in the right direction.” Author and preacher Henry Ironside said without repentance, there is no salvation. “But repentance is a changed attitude on the part of man.
This is what takes place when he believes the Word of Truth as to his lost condition and need of a Savior. Thus faith and repentance are indissolubly linked together.”
The believer is called to maintain a penitent heart. After your life is changed at the Cross, you are called to hear and obey the words of Jesus. Confession, repentance, and reorientating your life are consistent needs. 1 John 1:9-10 was written to believers, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
John Piper writes, “Let these simple, straightforward, weighty truths sink into your mind and you will have a great ballast to keep your boat from capsizing in the winds of contemporary fads and traditions.”
Pray that Americans would come to realize their need for a Savior, repent, and be born again.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Had to purchase some report covers today. Headed to Staples, but it didn’t open until 9 AM. Not wanting to wait around for 20 minutes, I went across the street to Walmart (Indy). UUUUUGHHH. I walk in and it was like stepping into a time warped, third world nation.
Shelves stacked so high, they were blocking light. Aisles really close together. The “greeter” spoke English as a second language and said “No cash, only card.” Asked her why? She shrugged her shoulders. (Priming for digital dollars?)
Place was so messy and things were strewn around everywhere. Store was dark, as if they dimmed the lights to lower their electrical consumption. Felt full on creepy. No report covers anywhere, so I went back across the street to Staples to get what I needed.
I never want to go to Walmart again. It is located about half mile away from my old home. There is a homeless encampment behind the Staples. Homeless wandering around the Walmart parking lot in tshirts and pajama bottoms. The most depressing thing.
I would just as soon never leave my home again. I hate what the Obama criminals have turned our country into. If they wanted their “hope and change” so much – why don’t they want to live in it themselves, rather than their cushy pads in Martha’s Vineyard?

We had 2 Walmarts in our area. One is in a respectable shopping district and is always presentable although I don’t really care to go there unless I have to. The other was in a less reputable part of the city. I didn’t like that one at all. It was more like the one you described and was closed a couple of years ago. I assume theft was a big factor in that decision.

What was strange – having not been to this Walmart in about four years – the entrance was like walking through a TSA screening turnstyle at the airport. You also, couldn’t just leave the same way you came in. You were redirected through an “exit” area in a different part of the store. Sooo creepy and very “regimented”. For Walmart. The store where “anything goes”.
No cash? Possible theories:
1) Push towards cashless society
2) Unable to get the register drawers open due to some computer issues??? (big one affecting John Deere and Car Dealerships right now where there is a ransomware attack – not sure if that’s been cleared up yet)
3) The people working there can’t count back change
Sadly – all very plausible right now. I’ll never walk in there again. That whole area of town has gone to hell in a handbasket. Thanks Mayor Joe Hogsett and liberal nut jobs.
Was shocked last October @ what the W 38th street area has turned into as I worked there from 91-01.
Only thing that was still there was the Ginza Japanese steakhouse & Mr Gyros next door, every thing else was now in a foreign language other than the big box stores that remained.
Called a buddy to link up for lunch from the Ginza parking lot …. he asked if was armed …. LOL … off to Mars Hill then to meet for lunch.(old airport area & where grandma’s house was)
Oh and cashless … probably for theft … internal & external.
That was probably my last plane to anywhere as well…. airport is cashless … and rejected my personal and business bank cards… had to use an alternative.

Yea, plastic only for parking … no humans … there was a lot worker who ended up helping me @ 3am … using my cell number instead of my debit card that it refused to take. (note, need to get a Credit Card for airport use)
I think the problem is debit card requires PIN that they have no inputs to allow in the airport.
Asked the Rental car guy if they would take cash … I have cash …. NO!
I guess DEN & IND is all set for CBDC then.
If it had not been for a grave illness, I would have driven the 18 hours (each way) instead with a rented car as a usually do.
I have not been informed of his passing … yet anyway. He was responding to new (probably) experimental cancer meds tho. (wife’s platinum GVT medical insurance, 911 dispatch)
Good thing too, all the insurance I/we ever got from car dealerships was the cheapest/worst insurance available.

Our Walmart here is going through a huge remodel/redo. It will be interesting if it goes cashless like so many others. There is a large portion of our population who pay with cash or check. Most are the elderly who live outside the city limits. There is no broadband out there so no computers. Most people I’ve spoken to are not happy with what is happening. Thankfully we haven’t been overwhelmed with illegals as so many other places have.
You can report them. It’s illegal to refuse valid U.S. currency. The foreigner likely has no clue about U.S. laws…..
I guess the GVT exempts itself for airports. Some of the shops that inhabit the food courtyard might accept cash but I would not give Mc D’s 15 bucks (or more) for a Big Mac that would only make me sick, last I ate anything in the airport that I thought would be safe to eat… I was wrong, I don’t know how (wolfgang) you can screw up rotisserie chicken to make it unsafe to eat. (well… I do know but not for posting anyway)

I’m going to admit something… I have been having a hard time. I have never been racist… not a day in my life. My father was a “selective racist” old school, military police officer, and I remember hearing him rail and deeply disliking him for it. Now I’m wondering how prescient he was.
I’ve enjoyed diverse cultures and got to see quite a few of them in our country, having lived where I’ve lived in Texas, California, and especially Seattle where there were 54 different dialects in the small school district of Tukwila, Washington – at the time I was working out there. I worked in a really big HR department where we had to write communication to the 16,000 employees – so that every walk of life could understand.
I have training by multi-national corporations and I have never been of the mindset that “small town Indiana” was all there was to know of the world. I’ve always known there were other countries outside of this one – and that thought really excited me, though I’ve never traveled anywhere else, other than Mexico. (Back when it was safe to be a tourist there.) Loved every element of it and adopted some of the practices of other cultures I experienced, especially in culinary arts… which makes it never a dull moment at our dinner table. I like that our world has different cultures. I like the variety. But I don’t like the loss of identities and history… and I don’t want anyone erasing my history… and I am starting to get offended.
Lately, diversity is harder and harder for me to accept. Because of the flood of illegals not acclimating to our language, our driving, our laws, our culture – this is not just a faucet trickle – this is a full blown full blast fire hose – it makes me feel like I just wish they would all go on home. We are all full here. It makes me angry to see what appears to be illegal aliens with $300,000 in vehicles in their driveway, their expensive transitory living arrangement, and what appears to be half dozen to a dozen people coming in and out of their homes. Some, I never see them leave their homes, so how are they making a living? My mind grows dark… with preconceived notions of government subsidy.
At work the other night, I literally couldn’t understand what this woman was saying. She was asking me if she could have part of the pallet I was working on and I was saying “Sure, yes. I am only here another hour and I will finish what I can.” and she kept asking me the same thing over and over. She never did come back over to me after her lunch, so I have no idea what she was getting at.
Another gentleman, a customer, was asking me for a “key” and I thought he was trying to make a copy of a key. Then, after several attempts – he shows me a picture on his smart phone and what he wanted was a “lock” for his lunchbox. Yes, you heard that right… a lock for his lunchbox. I was able to take him over where the luggage locks were so he could find something that fit his needs. I told him he must make some good lunches if he had to lock them up and that I would come over for lunch some day. We laughed… but it was just odd.
I can’t understand these people. How does one communicate when there is a real emergency and you’re trying to describe something in other than mono-syllabic words??? Will we all have to dumb down to third grade English just to communicate with each other? Will I be considered white racist “privilege” just because I am relatively articulate – and use the work “articulate”???
They weren’t exasperated with me… I am always friendly, smile frequently at people, and I can usually work things through to figure out what peoples’ needs are. But, I am getting tired. I’ve been in customer service, sales, service – for 36 years – since I was 15… and people have changed.
A customer from my day job called yesterday. Totally BENT out of shape, angry, and wanting to pick an argument because she couldn’t understand her invoice and she thought we were ripping her off. What truly happened is she lost track of time and this being almost mid-July, she received services that she hadn’t paid for yet, so her balance was accruing. After calming her down, and slowing her down, I was able to talk it through and… to her credit… she apologized for her misunderstanding. I told her, it was okay and that it was her questions that substantiate my existence in my job and to call me any time.
The populace is more uptight. More fatigued. More short-fused. I am more short-fused. Some people are just full on nasty human beings and it makes me want to lose my religion and utter under my breathe (and sometimes not so under my breath) what I really think of them.
Then, I feel guilty about feeling that way.
The lesson in this is that the “threshold for pain” for people is sometimes lower than others. Everybody’s sensitivity “critical mass” is different.
I despise those who infiltrate our country, trying to bring their old country with them, and not choosing to be American. We are American here. And we should be. I don’t want to lose our national identity. With these two immigration attorneys in my daytime job building – it is hard to watch.
I don’t want to walk into a Walmart and feel immersed in an international market. I was in a skirt and shirt and felt incredibly “white” showing my legs. It was bizarre!!!!!! We have the pale German Irish complexions and my daughter is a flaming red head. You can’t hide us, and we are starting to stick out like sore thumbs. I’m becoming too overprotective over my daughter. She was being sincerely gracious towards an elder gentleman patron at her place of work, and he offered to buy her a dessert – because she makes his potato soup “special” for him. I started cautioning her to be careful not to be too nice. How f’d up is that???? I’m scared this guy is what? Grooming her over a piece of cake? What have we turned into?
All the while, she and the staff at her place of business are complaining because the number of emergency calls to the adjacent hotels in our little hamlet off the I-65 freeway heading towards Chicago, are increasing, due to drug overdoses and God knows what else is going on there. This week, the offramp was closed off due to a drive by shooting. Folks, drive bys don’t happen here – this is (was) farmer country – up until about 2 years ago with the mass metamorphosis.
I just heard news that an Middle Eastern Food Market has opened up in a 97% white, back woods, somewhat “good old boy” maybe even slightly “intolerant” small town close to me. It is bizarre. Who will be their customers? Well, we know who… don’t we…?
I’m wondering where it ends and whether it is going to… end. I’m having a hard time believing Trump can stop this. I’m thinking only God can – but will He? What is my daughter’s future going to look like?
Those who are affluent can insulate themselves, but those of use who aren’t and are of modest means – are stuck with… and in… this crisis. It threatens our very existence.
There, I’ve said it. Garrison and Della – cathartic – no, I wish. I am just speaking what I am sure other people are thinking.
What is this world coming to? How will I acclimate to it? I right now… would prefer to never leave my home… once I can get us into a place of our own, unbeholden to anyone. How do I feel about my daughter traveling and exploring the world? I am currently opposed to that… I am sorry to say.

Awwww Slowcobra… I carry this guilt, anger, hostility… mainly because I will not be FORCED, COERCED, THREATENED into believing this is “all okay!”
Oh boy. I forwarded your observations to my better half. She is a bit more ethnically-aware (than I) from her youth (grew up in a Spanish – from Spain – family and mingled with Italians, Puerto Ricans, Polish, Jewish and other assorted (legal) immigrant families. However over th pst 20 years, she has developed the same growing intolerance and shortened patience with the illegals who ‘demand’ we respect their origin nations’ culture and traditions while they ignore & disrespect ours.
Oh yeah. I don’t want to raise her blood pressure but she can go off on a 30 minute rant if she gets triggered. Her pet peeve is certain minority women who either push past you in a line or reach around you at the store to grab what they want, not excusing themselves or bothering to wait until you move away. And when they get in a drive thru window line they always have several changes from what they originally ordered that take forever to describe to the order taker inside while the line behind sits and stews…. I could go one for 1/2 hour…..
Neither she nor I have ever asked for or received government aid. We both worked our entire lives after college; I worked from my junior year in high school forward…. We realize some folks are truly in some unfortunate situations, but people using EBT cards and then go out and get into a late model Escalade just tick us off…
We have both worked retail jobs in our younger years; you are right – people’s behavior / attitudes out in public urban & relatively dense suburban areas have definitely changed, and mostly for the worse. I blame the Left – it is them who have fostered this needless diversity onto us with out any effort to encourage people from other ethnic backgrounds to blend in harmoniously. Whatever happened to the great “melting pot” that was supposed to be America?

My old Electrical Tech roommate in San Antonio had a really good job, and I had a really good job at an inorganic chemical company. He would subsist on convenience store food of popcorn and Top Ramen.
We would go to the grocery together and see what you mentioned and he’d say “Come on, jwoo… just pop out one baby and we’d live like KINGS!!!” We were totally platonic, like brother and sister… but it was obvious to us even then.
Now, I do believe there are some needs for social services. As a 9 yo, when my mother died suddenly and my father was newly retired, working part time security at Freightliner, and was forced to stay at home with me… we were on government cheese. Rented a car once a month to buy groceries. Heck of a hard time… but we made the very best of our circumstances and he grew me up with the training that “if you don’t have it, you don’t need it”… but there are times when charity is needed. Widows, orphans, disabled, infirm.
But this @$%@#^& is outrageous and you better not be buying garbage soda pop and prime rib with my tax dollars!
Oh yes. Even Jesus instructed us to always take care of widows and orphans. i’m guessing they didn’t have any rich widows in those days……

Praise Your holy name Heavenly Father, for granting yet another day in my life and for being with me every step of the way. Thank You for the many blessings that You have provided and the love and fellowship that I have with the friends and family that in Your grace You have placed in my life.
My heart is so thankful for all the many blessings that I enjoy day by day, and today I am once again reminded that Your mercies are new every morning and Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.
Thank You, that I have been brought into Your family and have been made a child of God and a citizen of heaven. Words cannot express my love and devotion to You Lord
I pray that You would watch over me as I rest tonight, and that You would give me a restful nights sleep so that I may wake up in the morning refreshed in body and spirit and ready to do Your will. Loving Lord, as the day is coming to an end, I want to thank You for being with me in all that has taken place today. I also want to lay the whole day before You, asking that you would show me if there is anything that I have done to hurt or harm another person unknowingly, or if I have done anything that is displeasing in Your sight, or quenched the work of the Spirit in me, so that I may turn away from such things in the days that lie ahead.
Lord, I desire to do Your will in all things. I pray that You would cleanse me of any wrong thoughts or attitudes that may have surfaced in my heart today. Wash me in Your cleansing flood, I pray.
Thank You, that You are a God who forgives our transgressions when we are willing to confess them to You, knowing that such cleansing before You immediately draws us back into sweet fellowship with Yourself.
Give me a good nights rest I pray, and may I rest quietly in Your loving arms in the knowledge that in Christ, I am eternally secure, due to Your amazing grace, for which I praise You. In Jesus’ name,
