Karlijn is a favorite. I first came across her a few months ago and was—I have to admit—captivated by her playing. Some concert guitarists develop a kind of sixth sense in their hours and hours of practicing that allows them to understand thematic lyricism well enough to begin producing music of their own making that is totally unique. Karlijn is one of those. These are all compositions of her own creation . . . I think she’s one of the best of the best.

I’m a charter member AND the president of mine, Corny, as well these wonderful, compassionate people know well.
I’ve got to go back for a deeper cleaning on a couple of teeth as happens with older dentophobes, and my jolly dentist told me his schedule was so full(I can believe it with its being summer) he wanted to send me to a peridontist.
I eyeballed him and said as firmly as I could, “NO!!!!”
He looked at me and said, “Yeah, you’re right. I wouldn’t put you through that.”
I said, “Not so much me as the poor guy you’d send me to!!”
Laughter filled the office…he and everybody there know me too well 😂.
Anyway an August appt but on their ASAP list, which means first cancellation, which always happen, I’m first up. It will happen, I guarantee.
Today’s tech was new to me…there are three which switch out so that on any given day two are working. So we got to know one another between opening and closing and cleaning. By the time she finished we’d laughed so hard that my eye “war paint” was not where I put it this morning 😂
And this is why I love these people.

I would be lying to you if I didn’t say it is a struggle. Yesterday, wasn’t such a great day. Kiddo had about nine hours of homework on Sunday pushing us well into the late evening – and that is with only two classes. She’s doing great in them thus far, and they end last week of July. It unnerves me to think we are taking on six courses come late August. We are currently removing the public school tentacles from her and I hope that is near completed. What you call “good sense” – I would just settle for common decency. It is outrageous what these criminals are getting away with. A total misuse of public funds with zero positive quantitative and qualitative results. If we translated this into productivity in a revenue-producing job, it would be equivalent to tanking a business. It’s absurd and anyone who “goes along to get along”, needs to lose their retirement and be severely punished. There is direct correlation to the damage inflicted on families, commerce, and society at large for their failure to stand up and say “no” to this insanity and I am averse to picking up their slack – because they simply decided one day not to do their dang jobs!
Daytime boss is trying to hatch another “get rich quick” scheme and he does not weigh the risks. He asks my opinion, because I’m treated… but not paid like… an owner. Then he gets mad when I don’t drink the kool-aid and I outline the sizeable risks he’s taking. He simply doesn’t get that 1) no “venture capitalist” is going to give this company money without a sizeable return on investment. 2) He will inherit a “boss” and when he pisses that boss off (which is inevitable), 3) that loan will come due in full and he’s got no money to pay it back and it could tank the business. 4) and this company will not grow without boots on the ground increasing sales and increasing production. That’s it.
I’ve encouraged him to turn the table on the matter and make that person a paid consultant and then if the affiliation doesn’t work out, then he can cut ties… no harm, no foul. That wasn’t what he wanted to hear, but he’s also the guy who tried to sell ME in my first year (I’m going on year 7) when he was selling off a portion of his business, agreeing to the buyer that I would help with the transition and his books – to which I gave a resounding hell no. He treats me like an owner and a slave (a commodity)… all at the same time… because I am, frankly, vulnerable.
I’m so mad at his poor decisions that I want to walk away, but I am stuck here due to our financial and scheduling needs. It’s a helpless proposition. All the while we are paying a dead end salesman more than I make – to do half the work I do – and he’s not moved the ball one iota down the playing field. Another one of boss’s ideas. We meet a new accountant on Thursday and I do not do his taxes, nor do I ever want to – so I would just as soon forego the wasting of my time on it. I’ve got things to do and they aren’t bailing him out of his personal tax debacles because he chooses not to read his tax returns.
Then, boss gets mad and makes everyone pay with his behavior. His right hand field man claims the boss has a mental disorder. He’s sure giving me one.
Work at night is surprisingly awesome. I seem to do well with the split sleep schedule. Enjoy the diversity of my night time coworkers – and they are from ALL walks of life. Unique. Some barely speak English, but thus far, such great synergy… but I can’t make a living from it. It’s purely supplemental. I’m sweating my tail off and my app says I’m burning 3,500 calories a night, which is crazy. It is a really good tired and I am strengthened physically by it. Plus, alone with my thoughts – sometimes I don’t want to come home.
I got really super angry the other day at a Nextdoor commenter who was looking for a job as a “young girl from Venezuela” and instead of anyone asking if she had a working visa, they were all like “heck yeah… step right up… this job here, and here, and here! Oh, and here’s an NGO helping refugees!!!!” I was just mouth agape and angry.
I then posted about the puppy supplies we have to donate, wanting to donate to a small local organization, and I got my butt reamed from someone with an “opinion” on why I shouldn’t adopt from a breeder and that there are many hardship cases at the local rescues. She knew NOTHING about the situation, didn’t know I was actually adopting from someone who had not spayed or neutered her dogs, and was paying a rehoming fee of which I got shafted half of by this person who didn’t socialize the dang dogs and the puppy bit me! I couldn’t keep that dog as she could pose a threat to those around me in our close confines. I felt no need to defend myself, nor was it any of her damn business… and I was trying to be KIND giving away an exorbitant amount of puppy supplies… which made me recoil, delete my post, and caused me to not want to HELP ANYONE. I “thanked her for her opinion” and left it at that… when I really wanted to reach through and strangle her for attempting to publicly shame me!
Yesterday, was a total craptastic day, plus reading some of these other threads… my anger is more than I can stand. When Menagerie posted the other day about the “ranting thread” – I found myself so numb. I just don’t even know what to do with my anger as I rattled off my unemotional – matter of fact – list of grievances.
This anger indwelling me is the antithesis to my Christian faith and if being a “Christian” means kowtowing to this absurdity, than count me out! That’s not my experience with our Lord and Savior. My Lord and Savior would never defer to this lawlessness that weakens our society and endangers people. My Lord and Savior rails against such and He hates cowards!!! (Rev 21:8) I plead with Him to come back and make us all, including me, stand before Him to give account. I am so ready.
As for the puppy supplies – I’ve written to a local homeless shelter that I like supporting and have asked them if they have anyone who won’t come into the shelter, for fear of losing their pet. I would rather give these supplies to someone trying to hold onto something dear to them, where the supplies would have deep meaning for them. We will see if they respond.
We are of small means, but we want anything that we can give to have the greatest impact and that’s in all things we do. We are very much the “not throwing pearls to swine” type people.

When the people of Israel were taken captive to Babylon, it did not happen all at once. There were waves, with the first occurring in 597 BC, when Jehoiachin and some of the leading officials of Judah were taken. Others remained behind until a later exile in 587 BC.
The events around today’s passage occur at the beginning. God gave Jeremiah the prophet a vision—two baskets of figs. One basket held fruit of a high quality while the figs in the second basket were “so bad that they cannot be eaten.” Then, God explained the vision to Jeremiah. He equated the fate of the nation to the figs. Some of the people believed God, worshipping Him with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. They were the good fruit. The rotten figs were people with no desire for commitment to the Lord or His ways, to the degree that severe divine discipline would come upon them.
Sadly, among those who claim to be Christians in America, there is also both good and rotten “fruit,“ and God knows the difference.
It is generally easy to spot the ripe fruit, the sincere worshippers, the ones with an earnest desire to know more of the Lord and have an intimate relationship with Him. It is not always easy to spot the posturing fraud who claims to believe, even engaging in good works, but whose heart is far from the Lord.
Jesus warned, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21).

Good morning all.
Had three teeth pulled yesterday morning. Two routine and one surgical. All maxillary molars. Now I’ve pulled teeth and know how hard it can be. It really is an art. Both the extractions marked routine could have been surgical if the dentist didn’t know what he was doing. My dentist is a master. He kept up an amusing banter while doing it. He had a dental assistant trainee observing that got faint and had to leave the room.
Have all three clots still and swelling is minimal so it looks like I’m on the way to recovery without complications. Going to continue to take it easy today and stay on soft food. By Wednesday I should be able to begin normal activities and by Thursday or Friday I should be able to eat solid food again.
To keep the cost down I paid up front and they will send the paperwork to my medicare (United Health Care) for reimbursement. Still it cost me $742.00 up front. Would have been almost $900.00 if all three extractions had been deemed surgical.
That’s a good price, Rah, and sounds like you have an excellent dentist.
I’m sure you don’t need any help… but something I learned from the family members that had extractions around me – and what I used on kiddo for her two tooth surgeries (!) – was to take two long tube sport socks, tie a knot at the toes, and fill each side with a small zip lock bag of ice and tie it around your head, with the ice packs on both sides. Will help with swelling. That an extra strength Tylenol.

I want to Praise the Lord for getting through Beryl with only a back fence knocked down, no roof damage and we had power all though the storm!!! The eye of Beryl went practically over my house! The rain and winds were unbelievable! I was able with the help of my son and grandson to use ratchet straps to upright the back fence then brace it front and back. Luckily I had 3 8′ treated 2x4s in my garage for the braces. There are approximately 2 million still without power as of last night!! Hopefully that changes quickly! Again PTL for his mercies!!!

It will be classified as a post tropical depression when it comes over my place tomorrow. Sustained winds of 25 mph and gusts up to 45 mph in forecast. So this morning I took down my 6×10 colors and my Appeal to Heaven flags down and ran up by 3×5 storm flag colors. All of my colors of the various sizes are high quality embroidered flags. But the Appeal to Heaven and Gadsden Don’t Tread On Me flags are cheap prints and so I can’t fly them in heavy weather if I want them to last. Haven’t found any place that offers high quality heritage flags.

Many years ago I worked on the tomato picker machines in our area. It was quite an experience – if you are prone to motion sickness, this is not a good job for you. I think the plants where these tomatoes went are no longer around.
We love, and only buy, Red Gold brand. Made from tomatoes grown and processed here in Indiana. It’s taking up smaller and smaller placement on the shelves, but we really like the flavor. Could also be a potential employer for my daughter someday and we want to support LOCAL.

Beryl came through NE Texas yesterday. I am in Harrison County, Texas. I think the system was a tropical storm by the time it arrived here and was downgraded to a tropical depression about an hour after it left.
At one point, there was a tornado polygon about 15 miles to the west and another polygon about 15 miles to the east, both moving at roughly 40 mph. Neither one of those systems fully entered this city.
At my house, there was good rain spread out over several hours and no damaging wind. The high temperatures broke to down into the 70’s.
People lost power in parts of the county. My lights and internet have been on continuously.
Beryl has been a blessing for me. I don’t even need to go out to the acreage and water the fruit trees. Trying to do so by myself and with a >110F heat index like what we have been experiencing might not have been safe.

It’s not Caturday, but introducing Millie the Brave and MAGA Maggie.
Maggie is the one with the circle design on her fur.
The alzheimer kitty is doing remarkably well. The Maine Coon is having NONE of it and revolting terribly. Never seen Harry in such poor form. Touched Harry’s paw to Millie’s and you’d have thought I burned him with a hot poker. Geez.
No “Geez oh Pete’s” for us. The male we were loving on flew out of our arms when we were preparing to go, opting to stay with his sweet momma and siblings… while these two ever so quietly snuck into our carrier.
Millie already plays “fetch” and loves it. Maggie is subdued and not needing a lot of cuddles. Millie will stand on her hind legs to pick her up.
They are the gentlest, most well behaved kittens I’ve ever known. Not a peep at night when it’s bed time.

Oh my, Corny! We couldn’t do nine of them, but sure wish we could! We 100% would if we could. Tim’s good, but Harry Houdini, the biggest kit cat of them, all is a big whoosy and obviously wants to remain the “baby”! He is literally hiding behind my computer monitor. Millie the Brave replies to his hisses with her own fur getting all big and doing the Halloween cat hop towards him. She fears NOTHING. They are soooo sweet and the best behaved little girls ever. We were only to have one to help when Tim passes, but couldn’t resist – so now we are outlaws. 2 babies = 1 full grown, right? I mean – that’s the “math” I learn-ed. LOL

It’s 108° where I am today, and nowhere close to a record. I rely on my own thermometers and live in a rural area – no buildings, roads, parking lots, etc.
The humidity today is 18 %, which makes all the difference. That is Not intended to imply that 108 isn’t a scorcher, but it is livable. For me, it is more livable than -10°!

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. “Prophets are humans who speak through God” Correct, but what many may not understand is that none were BORN with “additional” powers. Each and every one of them were/are/will be people (like us) who firstly dedicated their heart and soul to serving the Creator – regardless. Without this it’s a non-starter, and yes most if not all have “training” in the deeper aspects of spirituality, are mostly very wise, probably “artistic” in the sense of having open imaginations. They say true prophesy ended with the prophet Malachi, but is still available in a lesser/diluted form, which you may be happy to know, can take the form of poetry, music, even artistic expression. (They all originate from the same root) The one KEY requirement, without which it is impossible, even false prophesy, is that the “intermediary” (prophet) is completely removed from free choice. He/she only repeats or allows to flow through without injecting personal wants or desires – even if these may be good/righteous. Put it this way, no sane person would “want” to be a prophet – God will choose who and when from His preferred candidate list – lol.
O and another thing – despite the “main” Prophets being men, it is acknowledged that woman have within them a greater capacity of prophesy. Your built in intuition is far superior in most cases to that of us men. It is told that Sarah, wife of Abraham was in a much higher level than he in this regard. Rachael, (beloved) wife of Jacob is also alluded to in the verse.” .. Rachael is crying for her children” in Jeremiah. 🙂
