I just heard on the radio show of J.T. Harris in Phoenix that in addition to the ability to mute the debaters which CNN has demanded, CNN is not showing the debate live in real time. CNN is broadcasting a produced version presumably so they can edit out what they like.
Surely President Trump’s campaign is also taping the entire “debate,” knowing what the mockingbird media has done to him in the past. It will be needed to refute their inevitable future lies. I remember when they started laying the groundwork for the vaxx. Supreme Court ruling may allow officials to coordinate with social platforms again
The case was a controversial attempt to limit Biden officials’ contact with social media companies.
The US Supreme Court has ruled on controversial attempt by two states, Missouri and Louisiana, to limit Biden Administration officials and other government agencies from engaging with workers at social media companies about misinformation, election interference and other policies.
Rather than set new guidelines on acceptable communication between these parties, the Court held that the plaintiffs lacked standing to bring the issue at all.
In Murthy, the states (as well as five individual social media users) alleged that, in the midst of the COVID pandemic and the 2020 election, officials at the CDC, FBI and other government agencies “pressured” Meta, Twitter and Google “to censor their speech in violation of the First Amendment.”
The Court wrote, in an opinion authored by Justice Barrett, that “the plaintiffs must show a substantial risk that, in the near future, at least one platform will restrict the speech of at least one plaintiff in response to the actions of at least one Government defendant. Here, at the preliminary injunction stage, they must show that they are likely to succeed in carrying that burden.” She went on to describe this as “a tall order.”
Though a Louisiana District Court order blocking contact between social media companies and Biden Administration officials has been on hold, the case has still had a significant impact on relationships between these parties.
Last year, Meta revealed that its security researchers were no longer receiving their usual briefings from the FBI or CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) regarding foreign election interference.
FBI officials had also warned that there were instances in which they discovered election interference attempts but didn’t warn social media companies due to additional layers of legal scrutiny implemented following the lawsuit.
With today’s ruling it seems possible such contact might now be allowed to continue.
In part, it seems the Court was reluctant to rule on the case because of the potential for far-reaching First Amendment implications.
Among the arguments made by the Plaintiffs was an assertion of a “right to listen” theory, that social media users have a Constitutional right to engage with content. “This theory is startlingly broad,” Barrett wrote, “as it would grant all social-media users the right to sue over someone else’s censorship.”
The opinion was joined by Justices Roberts, Sotomayor, Kagan, Kavanaugh and Jackson. Justice Alito dissented, and was joined by Justices Thomas and Gorsuch.
The case was one of a handful involving free speech and social media to come before the Supreme Court this term.
The court is also set to rule on two linked cases involving state laws from Texas and Florida that could upend the way social media companies handle content moderation.

The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that the Biden administration and federal agencies did not violate the First Amendment when pressuring social media companies to remove what they perceived as misinformation.
The Court struck down a lawsuit, in a 6-3 vote, against the White House over its efforts to curtail Covid-19 misinformation, which the administration alleges was spread across social media platforms.
“To establish standing, the plaintiffs must demonstrate a substantial risk that, in the near future, they will suffer an injury that is traceable to a Government defendant and redressable by the injunction they seek. Because no plaintiff has carried that burden, none has standing to seek a preliminary injunction,” Justice Amy Coney Barrett said, who wrote the opinion for the majority.
The plaintiffs, which included two red states and five social media, no longer have legal standing to pursue a case against federal officials over their communications with the platforms, on the basis of First Amendment violations.
The decision allows the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and other federal agencies to continue to flag misinformation posts on social media platforms to the companies themselves, in an effort to have them removed.
“Without proof of an ongoing pressure campaign, it is entirely speculative that the platforms’ future moderation decisions will be attributable, even in part, to,” the government officials who were named as defendants, Justice Amy Coney Barrett wrote in the majority opinion.
Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Brett Kavanaugh and Ketanji Brown Jackson were in the 6-3 majority.
The lawsuit launched in 2022 by Republican officials in Missouri and Louisiana alongside five social media users, argued that the Biden administration overreached when attempting to have deceptive posts removed from the platforms.
The plaintiffs also highlighted the suppression of coverage of Hunter Biden’s laptop in 2020 as evidence of unconstitutional influence.

Dr. Navarro is almost at the end of his four months in prison. He is still pursuing his appeal, on principle, but it won’t save him from the punitive nature of this weaponized “justice” system.
Not going to fly because they are making the argument the committee was wrongfully constituted. SCOTUS doesn’t care about how the Congress does things unless the constitution says otherwise (i.e. quorum, two thirds).
The Congress’ power to subpoena and sanction is derived from a legitimate legislative intent. If the Congress wants to write a bill and they need the input of expertise that is in short supply, they can force a private citizen with such expertise to testify. But if that expertise is protected by law — executive privilege in this case — then too bad. Besides, what do Bannon and Navarro have that is critical to a pending bill? Nothing. That is the correct argument to the Courts, not the anemic excuse that Pelosi snubbed Republicans.
It is somewhat ironic: Mike Johnson going to bat for Steve Bannon. Perhaps it reflects an admirable magnanimity on the part of the Speaker.

I read an interesting article by Dana Loesch last week about her opinions on Trump’s V.P. pick. I found it both interesting and perplexing, namely because her biggest opposition to Vance is that it will leave his Senate seat up for grabs. With it being vacant and not held by incumbent Sherrod Brown, and with Ohio preparing to go redder than a diaper rash, it would go to another GOP candidate; besides, in the age of the almighty executive, the House and Senate are less important than ever before (and no, that’s not a good thing, but it is reality). Worrying about Senate seats when Joe Biden is looking for a second term is on par with fretting about the temperature in the E.R. when you’re dying from a rattlesnake bite.
Loesch doesn’t like Rubio because of his past 2nd Amendment failures (fair), isn’t impressed by Doug Burgum (fair), and recognizes Tom Cotton as from a strategically unimportant Electoral College state (accurate). Elise Stefanik is criticized for once being anti-Trump, although Loesch was a rabid Trump-hater in 2016, and I feel a fairer criticism for Stefanik is that she is owned by AIPAC. Ultimately, Loesch calls for Brian Kemp (for the love of God) or Glenn Youngkin, presumably because both states are set to be close this year and may provide the winning margins. Kemp was a key, if not the key obstacle, in Georgia’s 2020 results standing, and to this day fights with Trump over the validity of that supposed outcome, and Glenn Youngkin is a squeaky-clean moderate who didn’t piss off the D.C. professional class enough in an off-year election with an historically unpopular Democrat president in the White House. Youngkin is tied heavily to special interests and I still believe Virginia is fool’s gold for Trump thanks to the electoral cheating and the fact that the swing population that flipped Virginia from Bush to Obama isn’t going to gobble up Trump’s agenda of shedding fat from the government and its vast sea of federal agencies.
Had he not wrecked himself by opposing Trump, I think DeSantis would be much higher on the likely candidate list because he has the most support among Trump skeptics (not Trump haters like Haley), but I’d be surprised if he is the choice now. Some of the choices being floated are known members of the GOP establishment and would be much more welcomed by the Republican Senators and Congressmen who are going to go along with more entrenched corruption to string up a second Trump term, so this leads me to think Ramaswamy may indeed be on the shortlist.
III. Fear Factor
Pursuant to the point above, Trump needs a V.P. who is even less desirable for the Uniparty than he himself is, which may be why he has been playing nice with them in public. Although Ramaswamy isn’t particularly friendly with the GOP establishment and may be palatable to suburban wine moms, I’m not sure he’s going to energize the working-class voters in key states. Maybe that’s OK, and Trump has them maxed out without need for assistance.
Ben Carson has been loyal to Trump from the moment he dropped out of the 2016 primary, and in fact, a plurality of my subscribers on Telegram and Truth Social preferred him over Vance and others. I believe Carson is ethical and loyal, but I’m not sure if he is feared and has been tested like a Trump V.P. would inevitably be, especially if he has to assume the presidency.
Conclusion
I highly doubt Trump’s V.P. pick is going to come down to who can maneuver the Senate with the most polish and political know-how, so this is going to come down to who is most likely to shore up the mushy middle of the electorate in Phoenix, Atlanta, and suburban Philly, with Trump intending to run the ball into the endzone on his own for four years, or someone the bureaucracy would hate in office more than Trump – and there are few, if any who fit that mold.
If I had to rank the seven on the rumored shortlist (which Ramaswamy isn’t on), if it is to be taken at face value at all, then I would rank them in this order of likelihood based on the above factors:

Snyder, former mayor of Portage, Indiana was sued for accepting a gratuity. Federal law had made it a crime that members of the fed. govt and employees could not accept bribes or gratuities and eventually made that law applicable to state and local public officials.
The ruling says yes, bribes are illegal, but gratuities are okay. Bribes being something paid before a govt official takes action, gratuities are received after actions taken.

I think it is important to understand the procedural posture of the case, and the relief sought / ordered below, which was an injunction on future conduct by government officials with social media entities.
For standing, you do need a concrete injury, for an injunction you do have to meet a very light bar of likelihood of success on the merits, and an injunction restricting speech (even the government’s speech) does raise 1st Amendment concerns.
This is not the court ruling that people who are actually injured by indirect government censorship do not have standing. Different question.

If a Delaware gun store had done its job, Hunter Biden never would have bought the gun that resulted in his felony conviction this month.
By law, handguns can be sold by shops only to state residents, who must provide a government-issued proof of residency, and Biden was not a legal resident of Delaware in 2018. Instead, he offered only a passport, with his name and birthdate.

The shop’s owner, Ron Palimere, admitted to federal agents that the store annotated the form around 2021 with a handwritten line “D.E. VEHICLE REGISTRATION.”
The issue almost became a point of contention in the trial when Biden’s defense team tried to raise it, but Judge Maryellen Noreika ruled that the shop wasn’t on trial and that the gun sales form would confuse jurors.
But gun control activists say that ruling showed a double standard in favor of convicting Biden while ignoring the violation by the gun shop.
“The (shop’s employees) gave irreconcilable testimony on the stand,” Wheeler wrote on her site, citing transcripts of the case. “If you’re going to prosecute Hunter Biden for lying on a form, how do you avoid prosecuting a gun shop that doctors a form after the fact?”

On Oct. 11, 2000, during the second presidential debate, the Republican candidate attacked two anti-terrorist policies that had long irritated Arab citizens of the U.S.
At present [i.e., the evening of 9/11], of course, there is no definite evidence that Arabs or Muslims were involved in today’s terrorist assaults. Many incorrectly assumed after the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing that Middle Easterners were involved. Nor is there direct evidence that Bush’s attack on airline safety procedures made the four simultaneous hijackings easier to pull off.

Denmark to charge farmers €100 a cow in first carbon tax on agriculture
Coalition government agrees annual levy on emissions from livestock after months of fraught negotiations
Denmark is moving ahead with the world’s first carbon tax on agriculture,
with cattle farmers set to be charged almost €100 a year for the greenhouse gas emissions from each of their cows.
After months of fraught negotiations with trade bodies and environmental groups, Denmark’s ruling coalition on Monday night agreed an effective tax rate of DKr120 (€16) per tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions from livestock, including cows and pigs.
Countries around the world are struggling to cut emissions from food production — which accounts for almost a quarter of global emissions including land use changes — while maintaining food security.
Ruminant animals such as cows and sheep produce methane through their digestive systems, while synthetic nitrogen fertilisers in the grass they eat also produce greenhouse gases.
Livestock accounts for 11 per cent of global emissions, with almost two-thirds of that driven by cows.
The Danish agreement, which lays the ground for the levy to be introduced in 2030, comes just months after farmers protested across Europe against EU environmental measures.
Mette Frederiksen, Denmark’s centre-left prime minister, said she hoped the tax would “pave the way forward regionally and globally” for similar initiatives.
Farmers organisation Baeredygtigt Landbrug, which was not involved in the talks, immediately criticised the deal, while some green organisations privately argued there were too many deductions for the tax to be effective.
“I think it’s crazy,” said Peter Kiaer, chair of Baeredygtigt Landbrug, adding that it would hinder much-needed technology investment in a country that was already one of the world’s greenest agricultural producers. “[The government] aren’t listening to the farmers.”
Denmark’s parliament is expected to vote to approve the tax later this year, which has a headline rate of DKr300 per tonne of CO₂ equivalent in 2030, rising to DKr750 per tonne CO₂ equivalent in 2035. There are built-in incentives for farmers to reduce emissions, and the tax will be phased in with a basic tax deduction of 60 per cent for at least the first two years.
The average Danish cow produces six tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per year, according to green think-tank Concito.
Using the lower tax rate of DKr120 would incur a charge of about DKr720, or €96.50. Cows produce far higher emissions than pork, although the country’s pig farmers will also be caught by the new tax. The country is a big dairy and pork exporter.
Lars Aagaard, the country’s climate minister, said agriculture was Denmark’s largest greenhouse gas emitter. “This cannot continue,” he said. “Agriculture must contribute and be part of the green future.”
Søren Sondergaard, chair of the Danish Agriculture & Food Council, said: “We have succeeded — against all odds — in getting a tax model where the farmer who uses approved and economically sustainable climate solutions can completely avoid the tax.”
But Peder Tuborgh, chief executive of Denmark-based dairy co-operative Arla Foods, said the tax regime could unfairly affect some farmers, including organic producers, who were already doing everything they could to reduce their emissions, and he called for policymakers to further examine this.
New Zealand this month scrapped an attempt to launch a similar tax on sheep and cow farmers in an effort to cut methane emissions.
The European Commission is studying how it could set up an EU-wide agricultural emissions trading system, looking at options including requiring farmers and landowners to pay directly for their emissions.
Kristian Hundeboll, chief executive of DLG Group, one of Europe’s biggest agribusinesses, a co-operative owned by 25,000 Danish farmers, said it was “crucial” for the tax to be “anchored in Europe” rather than for Denmark to act unilaterally.
At an event held in Brussels last week, Alexandre Paquot, deputy director-general of the commission’s climate arm, said bringing agriculture into the bloc’s emissions trading system should present a “new business case and new opportunities for farmers”.

Today, the House committee triggered subpoenas against House republican members. The subpoenas were sent to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (U-DC), Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), Rep Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and Mo Brooks (R-Ala.). All five of the house members had previously rejected investigators’ requests for voluntarily testimony.
The subpoena authority is likely, hopefully, to be challenged in court. The premise of a House committee issuing subpoenas to the political opposition of the same House membership appears to violate the function of government on many levels.
Somebody must have applied some pressure.

The Dem functionaries constructed the debates in ways to maximize the likelihood Biden will either appear visibly unfit or will drug himself up so heavily he suffers some kind of medical emergency.
Either way the plotters hope to knock Biden out before the convention. But it will all be attributed to Biden’s own condition. The plotters will avoid being blamed. No fingerprints. It looks like “an unfortunate accident” or natural causes. The perfect crime. All the Dems in-the-know will maintain their Omerta code of silence.
They will all be able to maintain a fake show of support, followed by a cloying show of sympathy, followed by behind-the-scenes knife-fight for power.
If an autopsy reveals dangerous levels of drugs, the media will blame the Bad Orange Man for bullying Biden to death.
