When this whole Soviet style show trial began, it was reported that there were multiple “lawyers” approved for the jury. When these verdicts are reversed in appeal, I believe it should be required that those “lawyers” along with that idiot Cohen, be disbarred for coming to their conclusions with no real evidence for a “crime” that may have been a simple misdemeanor if being a “crime” at all. It’s no wonder that “lawyers” are so widely scorned.

Retired Magistrate here: It is difficult to present a good defense when the Judge won’t let you call witnesses, present evidence and you don’t even know what your client is being charged with until closing argument by the prosecution.
In a twist the prosecution went last in their closing argument, which is usually not the case so the defense did not have a chance to rebut the election fraud issue which was brought out at the end of the prosecution’s closing argument.
I don’t care how excellent the legal representation could have been (and in this case I believe it was good) when the judge is blatantly partial to the prosecution along with the jury, which other verdict would you expect?

I think the verdict went to 100% chance of guilty…….from 95% after the Bronx rally.
I think the jurors got in the deliberation room, look at each other and said, “guilty!”, “now what we’re going to be doing here to give the impression that we’re deliberating? ”
Their major concern was to decided what to order for lunch and how long they’d be back there making believe.
I think it’s worse than that. I’m willing to bet the jurors smelled a rat and wanted those instructions read to them and they were told by the judge “I’ll hold you in contempt if you do not convict.”
There are so many violations of judicial norms and standards as well as the clear violation of the “beyond a reasonable doubt” standard which requires a UNANIMOUS verdict, not a “collective” verdict.
Would it be a stretch to find out that the jurors themselves were also coerced and threatened? Not to me. The instructions were WEIRD and also illegal. There were two lawyers in that jury so they KNEW they were weird and illegal.
And we STILL don’t know how the jury actually ruled. All of these counts depended on other “crimes” which were not crimes in order for these misdemeanor claims to be escalated to felony level. With so much wrong, it’s really very likely they were threatened in some way.
Here’s a test for how you might know they were threatened: If you never see a book or article written about how they participated in this glorious endeavor? You will know.
The judge was not needed to further pressure jurors. That’s what the leftist lawyers planted on the jury were for.
Plus the jurors all had to go home in NYC, where everyone’s social calendar is filled with liberals and no doubt spouses as well. So, to convict would have gotten them doxxed by one of the Dem faithful and then, what were they going to do. The situation was threat enough for most people.
I live in northeast NJ, the suburbs of NYC. Since Covid hit, New Yorkers (particularly from the boroughs of NYC) have been flocking in droves to our towns. Property values here continue to remain very elevated since there are huge numbers of people in NYC still trying to find homes within close distance to NYC and Manhattan.
Most moderates have ABANDONED NYC. Trump stood no chance of drawing from an even semi-impartial jury pool.
I suspect jury rigging had at least as much to do with it.

I miss Rush Limbaugh too. If he was alive today, I am sure they would persecute and prosecute him relentlessly also. They would try at all cost to quelch “America’s Anchorman” to stop him from broadcasting to his 28million or so listeners.

There’s a huge difference between knowing it’s going to happen and taking the blow directly. And the lengths they went to to accomplish this are both absurd and obscene. They had no style. No plausible deniability. Nothing at all to justify any of it. They just said “we’re doing it and that’s it!” Not even the media can really defend this. They are now afraid of what we might do.

Trump’s legal team knew from the very beginning the outcome of the NYC trial would be a guilty verdict. And that it would be in-your-face rigged in every possible way from beginning to end to deliver a guilty verdict.
IMHO, Trump’s legal team followed the right course of action knowing that the judge would be hampering their defense of Donald Trump in ways which were unethical, unconstitutional, and probably illegal.
His legal team did two important things.
First, they impugned the prosecution’s witnesses to the extent the judge would allow them to do so. But the jury wasn’t the defense team’s intended audience for witness answers. The voting public was the intended audience. Why? Because it didn’t matter what was said by any witness on either side, the jury would be rendering a guilty verdict.
Second, they let the judge’s unethical, unconstitutional, and probably illegal rulings go forward with only perfunctory objections because the judge would not be changing any of his rulings regardless of how hard they argued, and that the more errors the judge made, the more likely the inevitable guilty verdict would be reversed on appeal.
As far as the conviction itself goes, from a legal standpoint the end game verdict will come through the appeals process. Eventually.
In the meantime, political blowback from the sham trial continues to build. And now that PDJT has gotten his anger at having been the unfair victim of unprecedented political persecution out of his system with this morning’s 11 AM cathartic press conference, it is time to go back to focusing on the big picture.

As with the other cases against President Trump, this 34 count clown show will be overturned.
The evil ones putting on this farce got their temporary victory of allowing the criminal media to temporarily refer to President Trump as a convicted felon until it is overturned.
Small victory for them. In the process, they completely destroyed their credibility for a long, long time.
What’s the long term result for the good guys? Not much change. President Trump will still be re-elected to another term. This just sealed it.
What’s the long term result for the bad guys? Not sure but their getting out over their skis and jumping the shark here will have long term impacts.

Something that is quite disheartening for me are the comments / posts, etc. of people that I grew up with (I’m originally from MA, now live in TX). These are people that I knew to be good and intelligent people, but the vitriol and glee they have for this ruling is disturbing. They seem like brainwashed, cult members. I cannot fathom how they don’t see what is happening to our country and the ongoing controlled demolition that is underway. It is immaterial if you like Trump or not, to either be willfully ignorant or cheering the actions of our government is mind-boggling to me. While I have long been awakened to what has been going on since 2016, I don’t think I truly grasped the number of people that are either in agreement with it, or don’t care. And throughout history, every empire has fallen from corruption, apathy, and greed from within.
The same people who posted pictures on social media that they got their vax/booster and proceeded to demonize the unvaxxed. It’s a cult for them.
Rest assured. If it were you their reactions would be the same. Don’t forgot these same good and intelligent people wanted anyone, ANYONE who did not bow to the religion of the vaxx to be harassed, imprisoned, denied medical care and killed.

I was talking with a neighbor who works in a courthouse, she read the transcripts of the NY trial. She told me Donald Trump’s attorney Blanche is a mediocre attorney. My neighbor thinks his lawyers failed him during their closing by focusing only on Cohen and Daniels testimony and reasonable doubt.
I don’t know if Blanche’s is a mediocre attorney or not, but I believe the verdict was predetermined and no attorney no matter how well versed in law would have had a different outcome then the one we had yesterday.

They’ve impeached him twice, shut down the entire country, stole an election, took away hundreds of millions dollars and his business license, accused him of rape (and produced NO evidence) and then completely twisted any shred of faith in our judicial system to convict him of 34 felonies that they pumped up from misdemeanors and provided no evidence beyond testimony of a twice- convicted perjurer.
And they’re still chasing him over inciting an insurrection when NO ONE has been charged under 18 USC 2383 and classified documents…that we now know where SHIPPED TO HIM by the GSA.
They spied on his campaign, arrested his NSA Director, raided his home, lied to him about troop movements in Syria, had discussions with a foreign adversary behind his back to subvert his authority, 93% negative news coverage from our CIA-media
And he’s still the front-runner. Because while they’re doing all that, gas is $4/gallon. Groceries are up 30%. Mortgage rates are over 7%. The world is burning and we’re funding both sides in it.

When I first started following the NY criminal trial of Donald Trump, I kept comparing it to Franz Kafka’s novel, “The Trial.” You will remember that the novel tells the nightmarish story of a young clerk, Joseph, suddenly arrested and put on trial without being informed of the charges against him. I always had thought that such a scenario could only play out in the old Eastern Europe, Stalinist USSR, Maoist PRC, or in some Big Man dictatorship in Latin America, such as Castro’s Cuba, or an Idi Amin-type African country. It could never, I thought, happen in the USA with our “checks-and-balances,” our Anglo judicial system, and our precious Constitution.
Sure, I had read and followed miscarriages of justice, e.g., the Scottsborough Boys. I thought, nevertheless that such injustices would be corrected and were rare events happening in “backward” regions of the country. I never, in a million years, could have imagined a trial such as the one just concluded in NY in which the felony crimes were never spelled out, and in which the Judge, Juan Merchan, would in essence TELL the jury to convict Trump of something, anything, and actively stymied Trump’s defense. The Judge made clear he would accept nothing less than a conviction.
The more I followed the trial, however, I thought that instead of the corrupt judicial machinery in Kafka’s book, what we were seeing was an American equivalent to the trials run by Karl Roland Freisler in his Nazi People’s Court from 1942-45. Watch some of the documentary footage of Fresiler in action and you will see what I mean. His insulting of the defendants, the refusal to allow an effective defense, and a pre-ordained verdict of guilt. At the risk of being called overly dramatic, Merchan seemed to have learned a thing or two from Freisler’s behavior.
This is a sad day for America. This is the most blatant attempt in American history to stop the major political opponent of the incumbent president. Our system needs to redeem itself. We need a full investigation of Merchan and Bragg and the whole corrupt NY judiciary. The Appeal Courts and even the SCOTUS need to jump in right away. In the meantime, Repubican AGs and DAs need to open cases against Democrats–NOW. I would start with Obama’s corrupt real estate dealings, ex-Gov Cuomo, the Biden family for a whole host of corrupt actions, put the word out that President Biden will be investigated and prosecuted the minute he leaves office for a number of crimes committed before he was President, etc. This is hardball time. This cannot stand or we are Idi Amin’s Uganda or worse. The stink of Freisler must be removed from our courts.

I wouldn’t be surprised *whatsoever* to learn Karl Roland Freisler was warmly invited & brought into the US inside of Operation Paperclip, his records given a thorough scrub and a completely new, squealk-clean identity, and paid obscene amounts of money to write law school curriculum for US universities.
Same as other scientists, doctors, technical designers, etc. were also in like fashion embraced & integrated into US gov’t./corporate programs & institutions.
