I’ve just turned 67, and I require a cane to get around because of arthritis. (Sports is not good for you).
On my trip to the mall today, I noticed the # of people who require canes and wheeled walkers and scooters to get around. The population of North America is aging relentlessly.
Meanwhile, the political Left remains locked into their heyday of the 1960s, and strives for a society where everyone rides a bicycle. Comically impossible. I now plot my routes by the # of footsteps.
Toronto, my town, is insidiously making the private automobile impossible in practice. While condos are being built everywhere, the requirements for parking spaces have been reduced. And charging ports for these mythical electric cars are likewise elusive.
Meanwhile, every car company is abandoning the electric car as quickly as feasible, because nobody will buy the damn things (pretty good reason). A breaking point is coming.
We will soon be Cuba redux, with antiquated gasoline cars prized by the common man. Hey, aren’t they communists, too?
My wife had a stroke while she spent a night in the hospital. Her daughters convinced her the covid shots were good. She had in house (the hospital she was in) physical therapy. The wing had 15 rooms and 4 patients when she started, by the time she was released there were 11 patients. 9 months later her doctor told her to go visit her therapist, we did. The place was under reconstruction to double its capacity. The wing right above it was doing the same to QUADRIPLE the capacity all, for physical therapy. I’ve noticed the increase in cane and walker use also. It was intentional.
Ease of access is the only viable path forward.
Public transit does not supply ease of access.
The private automobile made the life of the common man so much easier.
There just might be a return to dads and sons working together to fix a car…or teenage boys working on their beater to keep it running….

First, they wanted to identify and eliminate phantom voters, before actually tryimg to go out and physically find them.
They tried comparing the voter roll lists, with SS death records, or property rolls, but found standard search algorythms did not work.
Thats when Jays group stepped up and constructed an algorythm search tool “fractal” that could work.
Realising he had stumbled across a tool that could compare property records to voter rolls, he has been touting it ever since.

The Biden administration has issued a new rule that makes it harder to fire government employees in an apparent bid to thwart former President Donald Trump’s pledge to fire “rogue bureaucrats” and radically reshape the federal workforce.
The new rule, which bolsters job protections for career civil servants, was issued on April 4 by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), which hinted in a statement that it’s targeting a promised move by a potential second Trump presidency to “drain the swamp and root out the deep state” by making it easier to fire government workers.
I bet they’ll also try to make it illegal for Trump–if elected–to release the J6 prisoners.
Or have they already done that?
How could this possibly work? OPM is part of the executive branch. They can’t just make a regulation insulating themselves from the chief executive.
Who’s going to stop them? The republicans??
Until President Trump can actually fire them he should just send them home and revoke their access. Nobody can stop him from doing that, and at least it will keep them from doing any more damage.

The law and regulations state the agency/department must have a legitimate organizational reason for the reassignment. I doubt the Trump administration will find a judge anywhere in this environment that would consider “Draining the Swamp” a legitimate organizational reason, although IMO, it doesn’t get more legitimate than that.

For those calling for immediate transfers and reassignments of feds, there’s no quick fix. You can’t transfer/reassign federal employees (including SES) without jumping through countless hoops, and one of those hoops includes paying all relocation expenses (buying/selling houses, government-paid temporary housing, time off for house hunting, etc.). You also must find them another job for which they are qualified. Even if you assign them to count paper clips, they get pay retention.

In short there is no quick fix to this problem. What needs to happen is congressional repeal of the entire Civil Service Reform Acts of 1978 and 1983, which have become thoroughly corrupted and convoluted by decades of amendments, civil procedures (MSPB/FLRA), and court cases. It’s going to take at least a decade to fix this problem.

Break tradition by giving a SOTU speech at the BEGINNING of his term, “on day one” with all of CONGRESS, the Executive and SCOTUS etc. in attendance.

I have seen people transferred against their will many times in the federal government. It’s not very difficult especially when they are upper management like SES.
Obviously, President Trump will have very experienced people to guide him.
The FBI forced agents to transfer to DC to get them to resign.

Certainly SES are transferred regularly….that’s one of the key requirements before being accepted into the SES. However, SES rules require an executive to move only when agency needs require it. Don’t think for a second that deep staters won’t fight tooth and nail on this last count. Any allegations otherwise will be brought before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB).
And know this: It’s been a little over a year and a half since the three-member MSPB has had a quorum after a record-setting five years without. It’s estimated that the Board inherited around 3,800 pending cases for review. It will take years to work through the backlog.

Don’t know if anyone out there listens to “Called to Communion” radio show with Dr. David Anders, but I catch it from time to time. Yesterday, he was addressing how Christianity made a profound impact on society. It ushered in a new way of thinking about the value of a person. Indeed, we could say Christianity brought about the concept of human dignity, that each person, no matter how small, how rich, how able, has worth. This concept was strikingly different than what had preceded it. Lots of slavery, ownership of people, treating people as things to be used/discarded on a whim. (This is not to say that Christians throughout history have treated all with human dignity. We’re all sinners.) Dr. Anders refered to an interview with noted atheist Richard Dawkins where he talked about being a “cultural Christian” and liking it.
Today I was preparing a lesson on Divine Mercy Sunday (tomorrow!) for some 4th graders. I was scanning through Nehemiah 9, where at the end of the chapter we read:
But see, we are slaves today, slaves in the land you gave our forefathers so they could eat its fruit and the other good things it produces. Ben Carson as VP would be the first really black American in the Pres or VP office, he was born and raised as a typical black American, and matured from the acculturated victim mentality. I have never heard Dr. Carson back down from a difficult question or give a half-hearted answer. I have come to think that his soft voice belies a much stronger character than one sees.
I too worry that his age means he wouldn’t be a good candidate for the future, but the future is pretty tenuous anyway.
I view Dr. Carson and J.D. Vance as two of the very very few people who care about the country, see it’s problems candidly, and are actually willing to do whatever is necessary to return us to our status as a constitutional Republic. Vance’s youth is preferable, but there’s no question that VP’s have little responsibility and we have way too few reliable senators.
