This is nonsense. Not one company is forced to sell and PE shops are often the lone liquidity outlet for owners who need cash or to spread out their risk.
Some are great and some are awful, just like every other business.
They come with a ‘carrot’ of a big buyout price AND want to keep you on to run the business using your credit line.
The caveat is ‘they’ require that you provide your credit line or take responsibility of theirs in the new venture.
Then, they loan against the company with promises of growth, but siphon the loaned money off for management fees and bonuses.
When the company’s gross profit can no longer service the debt load, the company folds and the bankruptcy hits the former owner still ‘managing’ the business leaving the PE owners in the clear and with the loot.
How do I know this? My younger brother owns a very well run business in his industry and was approached by a PE firm a couple of years ago that was impressed with his company.
As the negotiations approached closing, he caught the aforementioned caveat and backed out of a several million dollar deal that he realized would be short lived and would eventually bankrupt him.
Most can’t see that when huge $ are staring them in the face with instant gratification.

I have never seen or been involved with a transaction that required the use of an owner’s credit line. Most also keep a seller on board to at least transition to new leadership.
And he dropped the transaction, which all can do. Not all lever up similarly either. Many did while debt was cheap and did addons with intrinsic debt coverage, but that’s the game they’re in. And I’m not sure why any seller would guarantee a loan post transaction. Sounds like he was dealing with vultures.
I assure you there are more good deals for entrepreneurs than bad, or the industry would not exist at the smaller earnings levels.
If these guys don’t exist, the sellers would be forced to live with angel investors to cash them out or strategic buyers who can be hard to find.
Again, not all are great and some even still have the Chainsaw Al approach to LBOs, but most have to be good to stay in the business and raise follow on funds.
For those making blanket assurances, I would not assume ANYTHING.
There are all sorts out there, finding ways to legally flim-flam, from taking peoples identities, their lines of credit, their homes and businesses we are being attacked by rapacious, ravening hoardes of nihilists, and as the Giverment is now supporting the criminals, any assumptions are naive.

My current theory on why Biden does amazingly well (for him) at certain events but is incoherent and in full dementia mode at most other times.
1) They save their best drug cocktails for the few events where a large part of the democrate voter base will be watching, like the SOTU and debates. Dems in my greater family do not pay much attention to Biden’s appearances otherwise.
2) They are fine with Biden making a fool of himself when meeting foreign leaders or otherwise having the attention of foreign audiences because I think it fits their agenda to tear down the U.S., to have the ‘ leader’ of the U.S. looking inept and being mocked on foreign tv.
Tonight: My prediction is he’ll have the best drug cocktail anddo fairly well, at least at the beginning (democrat viewers will wander away after a bit anyway). He outperformed expectations last year. Admittedly a harder task this time around even with the best drug cocktail and other pre-treatment. Wouldn’t be surprised if they make it a short speech.

From Ohio — For anyone watching our Ohio primary for Senator (to hopefully unseat Sherrod Brown), there was a televised debate between LaRose, Dolan, and Moreno. Bernie Moreno is endorsed by Sen. Vance, Rep Jim Jordan, and PDJT, and I voted for him because I respect their endorsements, and I do believe if elected he would support President Trump in the Senate.
But last night, I felt he came off as the weaker candidate when confronted with controversial statements he has made in the past regarding Trump, immigration, amnesty, and other hot button topics. The latest barrage of TV attack ads, esp by Dolan’s people, list these quotes as well, and both LaRose and Dolan gave examples last night of Moreno “reinventing” himself.
When Vance was running for Senate, I respected the fact that he had already admitted publicly to his anti-Trump tweets and quotes, saying, “I was wrong about him,” and why. And I could not be more thrilled with how Sen Vance has served our state, and become a staunch MAGA ally. I was hoping Moreno would do the same thing.
Instead, he continually sidesteps the criticisms, trying to ignore it or brush it off as fake news, and just points to the endorsements by PTrump, Jim Jordan, Vance, or various issue organizations as his response. (Since Bernie has no campaign phone number listed on his webpage, I called Sen Vance’s office to pass along my comments, since Vance’s endorsement also reflects on him.) I am just concerned that either a) Dolan or LaRose will win and be establishment guys, or b) that if Moreno does win the primary, Sherrod will be able to poke holes in his stands with his own quotes. (I want Sherrod gone, but his people are running some strong heartstring “story” testimonial ads of real citizens who were helped by Brown and legislation he passed… and with issues like saving pensions or jobs or helping veterans that resonate here in the rustbelt. Sherrod taps those old Dem Kennedy chords.)

You know I just heard something that really made me think. RFK Jr. (forget about what you think of him for a sec) was on a podcast talking about how when countries get admitted to NATO, they are expected to now buy NATO equipment — which is primarily (not exclusively) made by a good amount of American companies.
So, when you think about it – there is a bigger reason for all the hostility towards anybody that proposes anything against NATO. Of course, there is the customary Russia hatred, but there is also a monetary aspect to all of the noise. It’s always about the money, and I can’t believe I didn’t notice this earlier.
