Paying off debt is all part of the plan. Most of us will own nothing and be happy, according to those who think they are our betters, so we won’t need our education for supporting ourselves. That’s only for the elite few and those they choose to perform some essential services like premium healthcare and other necessary service to the elites. The author briefly summarises how he and wife pursued a debt-free lifestyle, beginning around 2000, children attended/attending college, own home, etc.
He is charting out ONE path to debt free, and there are others, suze orman comes to mind.
In the comments section are comments from others, who have also gotten off and stayed off.
The one negative comment makes a valid point; a husband who tried but could not get his wife to go along, and so abandoned going debt free, rather than abandoning wife (wrong choice, frankly).
Towards the end the article shares the peace of mind benefit, which is phenominal from my experience.
You CAN live debt free, and nearly insurance free, without sacrificing anything.
The ILLUSIONS of Security/safety, Convenience and Prosperity are just that; ILLUSIONS.
And yet we PAY an enormous surcharge, when we buy into those illusions, in $, but more importantly in termsof stress, tension and discord in our lives.

The problem with that model is that the cream rises to the top. If there isn’t enough milk to make the cream, then you’re SOL. If there isn’t enough people getting an education, then those that could make for great doctors and engineers will never be realized. People forget too, that there was a change in our society in that employers of any size started requiring a four year degree for any kind of white collar, managerial class job.
With computerized resumes, yours would be automatically kicked from the system without that credential. It didn’t even matter for most jobs what you majored in, just that you had the degree.
Banks used to start everyone as tellers. Xerox used to start their workers fixing the machines. You could “work your way up”.
Then there was the major media push to take STEM courses, as that’s where the need was.
Those who got those STEM degrees found that their employers would rather hire foreigners.

I just had this conversation with my grandson who goes to University of Illinois
and wanted to quit because of wokeness. He stated the obvious, that African art
studies did not prepare him for a job in the real world.
He is a junior and I told him how employment hiring works; that he would make
more money with a degree regardless and to stick it out for one more year.
He has an accounting major and will need the degree to get a good job.
He will at least have more employment opportunities to choose from, and can come out ahead as long as he isn’t attending one of the grossly overpriced schools.

And pay far less, “out of pocket” than the Medicare Insurance premiums would costs us.
And the lack of stress, from not fretting over premiums, deductables, co-pays, or having an Insurance company dictate our care?…..

I read an article this morning about a push for Ranked Choice Voting in a few states. Some states have banned using it, but others are considering it, Iowa was listed. I knew it was a BS deal, but I wanted to fly supersonic fighter- jet airplanes at the time. There were a number of fellow fighter-jet pilots who felt about the war in Viet Nam as I did.
For us it was just a matter of staying alive in the process. I guess a game of chance as it is with any game. All mission orders came from the pentagon. The enemy had our mission orders before we were briefed. It became a matter of situation improvision in the quest for survival and some survived it and some did not.

That 7% must be a typo, as in the NH primary, over 70% of her votes came from ‘independent’ voters.

Do the math:
1215 delegates needed to win = 51% or 2382-2390 delegates total (not just the 2290 available shown in the article)
That means there are 92 to 100 delegates held by the RNC to be cast by the PARTY. This is there reason President Trump needs get control of the Party before the Primary ends. The Party holds the 4th largest number of delegates, after CA, TX and FL. (Note, NY has only 91 delegates)
Further if one reads the RNC rules it clearly says the party hold control of 100 delegates, which makes totals themselves look kind of murky.
By current count President Trump holds about 76% of the committed state delegates, well above the 53% needed if one assumes the party will cast all their votes for other candidates for what ever reason.
The delegate count is the only reason Niki Haley is still in the race and that local vote sponges as well as withdrawn candidates are left on the ballots. It is interesting that since ALL polling places have gone digital … that names cannot be pulled from ballots at least shown at polling places … although “to be fair”, since mail in ballots could not be changed in time the names do need to be retained … right ???

I just finished reading a novel ( a rarity for me) the characters were the usual mixture of modern stereotypes
A lesbian couple, older male heavy out of shape drinking cops.
A few references were made about Serbs, the context was always negative.
This was a novel set in the U.K. ( Scotland mainly)

You don’t think the real story is that HGTV is purposely pushing gay buyers because they feel gays are more entertaining? The odds would just have to be on the side that says HGTV is run by gays.
