An above post by Clarion regarding LED lights causing Macular Degeneration is probably true. about 2 months ago I saw wavy lines through my left eye and went to my eye doctor. Turns out i have a Macural HOLE. Apparently these things come out of no where and all of a sudden, and no one knows what causes it.
Next month I have surgery on the eye, called Vitrectomy, to repair the hole. So, there you have it.

My wife had a macula hole and the surgery was the easy part! The sitting still in a special chair all day for several days with not being able to move your head, looking down at the floor all the time was the hardest part!!!

House Bill 317, titled “Interstate Safety,” received 37 yeas and 0 nays from the Florida Senate in a vote on Thursday.
The bill prohibits drivers from driving in the “furthermost left-hand lane” on roadways with two or more lanes in the same direction, with a speed limit of at least 65 mph.
(So on a 3 lane highway only 2 lanes are useable??? Sounds insane!)
It prohibits people from camping in the left lane. Pass and MOVE OVER. It’s not that hard.
That or they want to make it a HOV lane, which is useless. Hate HOV lanes! Nashville is the perfect example of no, none, zilch, zip, nada road planning. They are really quite stupid.

Untrue. The farthest left lane is considered the passing lane and even if you are going the speed limit you need to get over and let people who are going faster get by. Otherwise you are causing a traffic jam. You do not get to hinder other people even if you are going the speed limit. If someone approaches you from behind then you need to get over and let them travel unhindered.
Most jurisdictions have a tolerance for a certain amount of speeding allowed due to variances in speedometer accuracy. At 65 miles per hour they may allow up to 71 to 75 miles per hour depending on traffic congestion.
The highway from SoCal to Las Vegas is 75. But most people (rightly or wrongly) travel at around 80 to 85. It is easier to get out of the left lane for those people than to force them to weave around slower traffic and big trucks all sharing only 2 lanes. Let them just go straight and not change lanes. Otherwise it gets dangerous.
When I got a call that said my husband had been taken my ambulance to the hospital 30 miles away I could not get there fast enough.
Having to follow someone who drove in the passing lane, and who stayed in line with the car in the slow lane, broke my heart. There was no way to pass either car, no matter how badly I wanted to.

One time my mother and I were driving from Las Vegas to LA. As we were exiting Las Vegas there were 2 big rig trucks driving side-by-side going 60 miles per hour . When the freeway widened to 3 lanes that gave me a few seconds to get between them and past them before a 3rd truck joined them to slow down everyone else. I was able to look back as we climbed the hill out of Vegas and saw NO ONE ELSE on the freeway because they were all stuck behind the 3 trucks. We probably traveled 20 miles without seeing any vehicles except a few that got on from the middle of nowhere. After about 30 miles some of the traffic started catching up with us.
This all happened because of some rude drivers who had no consideration for others.
The only time I stay in the left lane is when I’m driving down I-95. The trucks are dangerous as they pull in and out of the middle lane to pass slower traffic. They don’t care who’s in their way.
I gladly cede the right two lanes lest these truckers run me off the road. Of course, this means I can’t go less than eighty five miles an hour in the fast lane, if I know what’s good for me.
Yes, I prefer to stay out of the fast lane, I’m not racing anyone. But when you have heavy truck traffic this becomes impractical. Drivers who are oblivious to overarching traffic conditions, that demand everyone “get outta my way, it’s all about me” are dangerous.
Once they get past you, they are generally found five miles later in the same condition, tailgating unnecessarily. Tip to the wise, 20 over is generally considered reckless by most state statutes.

It’s illegal here in Missouri too. Unfortunately they don’t seem to enforce it much if at all.
The left lane of a 2 or more lanes on each side, limited access highway, has always been known as the “passing lane”. If the speed limit is 65 mph than we always seem to end up with folks who will drive in that lane at 65 mph and no faster. I think it is a control issue. They stop anyone from utilizing that lane for passing because they will undoubtedly end up alongside someone in the right hand lane also going 65 mph. You end up with, essentially a rolling road block and no matter if blocked motorists beep the horn or tailgate them, they will stay in that left lane and continue to do 65 mph only.
I’ve seen cops do that. Though usually, they are busy speeding too.
And it is a strategy employed at work sites, where slow walking groups through allow workers to access the highway.
And never expect to reach the speed limit if you hit a city at rush hour.
Traveling the hills of Virginia on I81 helped me develop a theory of travelling traffic islands.
With a variety of travel speeds, any slow travel becomes a chokepoint. When enough traffic reaches said chokepoint, some have to slow down to let others by. When they in turn take the chance to go around and get back to speed, they slow down the faster traffic.
And everytime a semitrailer goes up a hill, the worst traffic Island is formed. The speeders get drastically slowed down. So to the people traveling the speed limit. Even lower in speed than the truck that formed the Island.
I found that much more common than anybody slowing me down on purpose. And horribly frustrating. Much worse than fearing a speed trap.
Eventually I slowed down and did only 3 above the speed limit. Yes, I became a traffic Island. I felt sorry for the few people who had to slow down to let faster people go by. And I still got caught in some backups on hills. But driving was a lot less stressful. And I didn’t have to react to slow down to get through speed traps without a ticket. Traveling times did lengthen.
That stretch of 81, from Bristol to Winchester is brutal brutal. Give me Nashville, where is expect traffic

I guess Florida has few left side exit ramps off of their highways. People in pokey cars gotta get in when they can. I’ve become patient because of them. After they clear, I’m back to the races.
Also, leaving KS into CO on I70 begins the right side pot holes. Left side driving, allowing passers and straddling lanes happens.
Texas has those. My daily drive is 2 lanes in each direction, and in the part where it’s 75mph there are “left lane for passing only” signs. Doesn’t stop drivers from camping in the left lane, though. If you’re in the left lane, even if you’re actively passing someone else (even speeding to do it), and someone comes flying up behind you, they will honk and flash their lights and ride your bumper as if you’re supposed to just swerve over and push the car that you’re passing right off the road, just so the idiot can get back up to 100mph and go zoom zoom. Effing idiots!
The other day, on a toll road where it’s 80mph, I was behind a semi truck camping in the left lane (over 10mph below the speed limit). After a few miles of being stuck behind him and not seeing anyone in the right lane, I moved over to pass him on the right (since he wouldn’t get out of the way). Of course, he chose the second that I nosed past his rear bumper to decide to get out of the passing lane – without even looking – and damn near ran me off the road. Fortunately, I have decent brakes and the other car in the right lane had stayed back enough that I could swerve back over and didn’t get hit.
So, no more driving friendly in Texas?
Here in SC, we’re used to passing the snowbirds in the right lane. It also gives them a better view of my flocking bird.

The problem with that has always been that you spend a half hour reading comments so you don’t post something that has already been posted and in the meantime someone else has posted that same news you just posted. Someone can post as a response to an earlier post so that new post ends up earlier on the same page or the previous page that you just scanned.

Up thread my advice was not as friendly but I knew of no other way to put it. First page is always repeating same prayer along with Border update takes up half a page. Then the afternoon group talks about traffic for a half a page. I hope when Sundance gets back we will all have something informative to talk about…I hope some of the posters I miss will return….hopefully. Many here have their favorite time of the day to post and do not read all post…so that may be the reason for a duplicate post. Just guessing.

A couple of years ago, a guy named “George Foking Washington” ran in Kentucky. He had some pretty funny campaign ads on his website. He actually got votes from quite a number of people.
Some of the names on the Presidential list for the DNC Primary are also on the ballot here in Texas and have even run for office here in Collin County. TX.
Plus, the list for the TX RNC Primary included a couple of extra local vote sponges who some times run as Libertarians and there was a “non-committed” even advertised in RNC Voter Guides. There’s a very sobering discussion on Reddit about how far behind the current generation of children are compared to the previous. They are lacking in basic life skills, not just academics. Anecdotes from the discussion include children not knowing: the months of the year, the names of their parents, their home address, what season it is, how to use a ruler, how to use scissors, and so on. It’s terrifying.
The public needs to know the ugly truth. Students are SIGNIFICANTLY behind.

That is Kindergarten stuff—I used to teach it. Toward the end of my time as a teacher, there were more and more 5 year olds coming in who had no idea how to hold a pair of scissors or a pencil or crayon. And don’t even get me started on the ‘should they have to be potty trained by Kindergarten’ question!! (Actually, all this used to be stuff parents taught children way back in the dinosaur days when I was little.)
I would think that kind of basic knowledge could easily be passed on by parents. It’s not just teachers failing their kids. It’s parents too. I also think with internet access, schools are putting less priority on teaching some of these basics because the kids “can always google it.” Memorization is no longer a thing. It’s all about how to find the info online.
And how much is the failure costing us? And since its funded by property tax, if we don’t participate in the failure we lose our home.
Property taxes = paying rent to the government.
If an individual is required (by government) to pay property taxes (to government), then that individual will NEVER actually own that property.
And, yes, if that individual can not (for whatever reason) pay the property tax, they are then subject to losing the property. And being tossed out into the street.
You should see the first grade papers my wife corrects every night.

Prosecution Of Far-Right But Not Antifa For Same Riots ‘Constitutionally Impermissible’: Judge
A federal judge on Wednesday found that the “selective prosecution” of far-right groups without charging their far-left counterparts for the same acts is “constitutionally impermissible.”
U.S. District Court Judge Cormac Carney of southern California therefore dismissed charges against two men from the “white nationalist” Rise Above Movement (RAM) who violently clashed with members of the far-left group Antifa at three southern California pro-Trump events in 2017.
In his 35-page order, the judge stressed the importance of equal protection under the law. He said that although the two men may have been involved in violent acts, prosecutors were wrong to exclusively target them without also pursuing charges against Antifa members implicated in similar violent actions at political events.
“Selective prosecution leaves the troubling impression that the government believes speech on the left more deserving of protection than speech on the right,” Judge Carney wrote (pdf).
The judge said that the fundamental principles of the First Amendment rights to free speech and to assemble are the “bedrock” of the United States. This is not always easy, he added, noting that sometimes, people use that right to “spread vitriolic and hateful ideas and beliefs.”
“While Defendants openly promoted ideas the Court finds reprehensible, and likely committed violence for which they deserve to be prosecuted, this case is about something more important.
The alleged violence at the heart of the case happened during former President Donald Trump’s first year in the White House, during the four months spanning from March to June 2017.
Prosecutors charged the two men, Robert Rundo, the founder of RAM, and Robert Boman, one of the group’s members, under a federal anti-riot statute in 2018.
Judge Carney dismissed their charges in 2019 but following an appeal, the charges were reinstated in 2021.
With the matter back in the district court, Mr. Rundo and Mr. Boman filed two motions to dismiss the case, arguing that the use of the Anti-Riot Act was vague and that they were selectively prosecuted and not given equal treatment under the law.
Judge Carney rejected the first motion, asserting that the alleged conduct of the men clearly falls within the scope of the Anti-Riot Act.
However, the judge agreed with their second motion’s argument regarding selective prosecution and the violation of equal protection rights. He raised constitutional concerns about the government’s use of the Anti-Riot Act to prosecute the RAM members but not the Antifa members, who engaged in comparable violent acts.

This seems like a good development, as long as it isn’t taken too far. In the current situation of the Federal government prosecuting conservative or right leaning individuals and leaving left ones alone, it is a good counterbalance. As long as all violent acts are prosecuted, regardless of the perpetrator’s politics, then dismissals for reasons for “equal protection under the law” should become rare.

Colorado double murder suspect threatened roommate before shooting, would “Kill him” over trash dispute: affidavit – CBS Colorado
According to the affidavit, there had been complaints of Jordan smoking marijuana, cigarettes and leaving his trash out. There had also been multiple incidents where Knopp and the other roommate had reported Jordan for unsafe living conditions and smoking in the room.
The court documents detail an argument that happened in January between Knopp and Jordan over a bag of trash. Jordan apparently threatened Knopp and told him he would “Kill Him” and there would be consequences if Jordan was asked to take out the trash again.
Jordan was arrested in Colorado Springs on Monday morning and the judge set a $5 million bond at a hearing on Tuesday.

ATHENS, Ga. (TND) —
The police chief at the University of Georgia named the man accused of killing nursing student Laken Hope Riley on campus.
Friday evening, he announced Jose Antonio Ibarra had been arrested.
Chief Jeff Clarke said Ibarra is facing a long list of charges: malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another.
Ibarra is said to be 26 years old. He lives in an apartment in Athens, Ga., where the university is located. He is not a U.S. citizen but his immigration status is uncertain.
“I think this was a crime of opportunity,” Clarke said, adding the evidence suggests Ibarra acted alone and that Riley’s killing was an isolated incident.
Classes were canceled Thursday afternoon, after her body was found.
Riley was a 22-year-old nursing student at another school. She disappeared while on a run and her cause of death was reported to be blunt force trauma.
