I believe there was a long period of time when climate alarmists were citing an imminent “ice age” that was coming (Leonard Nemoy commercial, some “prominent scientist”, etc).
At some point, that flamed out and on came Al Gore with his Global Warming screeches of imminent devastation.
Then, at some point the language and approach changed to just CLIMATE CHANGE.

The implication of this decision however extends materially beyond Trump and, in my opinion, that’s a good thing. Right now we have a President who is claiming to have no jurisdiction to shut down the flow of migrants at the border and demanding passage of a new bill. This is false; 8 USC 1182(f) makes clear that by mere proclamation the President can bar entry of any non-citizen person or group of people if he or she finds that such entry is contrary to the interests of the United States. Such a decision by Biden would certainly generate lawsuits but they’re losers — the law is clear on this point and said authority is both essentially plenary in nature and explicitly, as codified in said law, granted by Congress. As such it is at least as valid if not more-so than any “new bill” that could be passed.
Why is this important? Because as noted in the opinion The President, like all other officials, takes an oath to faithfully execute the laws of the United States and the Executive, which he heads, is the branch with actual authority and in fact the only branch with authority to make arrests, detain, prosecute, jail and (in the case of non-citizens) expel people. As such a willing and intentional violation is subject to future prosecution including potentially derivative prosecution as an accessory should, for example, a migrant come into the country as a result of said willful refusal to act and then commit a serious crime (like murder, for example.) This almost-certainly does not implicate, incidentally, “qualified immunity” as it has long been held that an action taken by an official that does not conform with the clear language of the law is not entitled to that protection.

Nearly one in two French people’s data was stolen in a massive cybersecurity breach at two health insurers.
Over 33 million people in France – nearly half of its population – have been impacted by the country’s biggest-ever cyberattack.
Two French service providers for medical insurance companies were targeted, with the companies admitting that millions of people’s data were exposed to the hackers.
“This is the first time there has been a breach on such a scale,” Yann Padova, a lawyer specialising in digital data protection and former Secretary General of the French data protection authority (CNIL) told French broadcaster Franceinfo on Thursday.
According to Padova, this is “the biggest security breach in France”.
What happened?
Two companies – Viamedis and Almerys – are service providers for medical insurance companies. They were victims of a cyberattack that occurred five days apart at the beginning of February.
Which data were stolen?
Over 33 million people – just under half of the French population – were affected by the data leak, which included details like “the marital status, date of birth and social security number, the name of the health insurer and the cover provided by the policy” of the individuals impacted, according to the French data protection authority (CNIL).
The CNIL assured that “no bank details, medical data, postal address, telephone number or e-mail are involved”.
What are the consequences?
The “tiers payant,” a payment system in which the patient doesn’t have to pay the full cost of medical services upfront, may be unavailable for certain health professionals but still available for the patients.
The CNIL warned users against phishing risks, especially as the new data leaked could be combined with other information from previous data breaches.
Users should be especially careful to double-check the authenticity of emails, texts, and calls claiming to be from official organisations.
The people whose data were compromised will be contacted to be individually informed by their health insurance to comply with GDPR guidelines.

Sekulow on the radio just now said a win is in the bag and a 9 – 0 ruling is likely. He said Ketanji-Brown clearly articulated the point that the 14th Amendment doesn’t even apply in this case. (It applies to officers and the POTUS is not an officer). He noted that Trump’s lawyer pushed back against her on this point (sigh). Now, why would Trump’s lawyer do such a thing? Sekulow explained that probably the lawyer wanted to win the case based on his own argument. He didn’t want to win it based on the simple fact that the Amendment doesn’t even apply in this case, which is devastating 100% to Colorado. Horrendous. Nevertheless, Sekulow said that in spite of that own-goal, he is certain of a win.
I say look for penumbras of some sort to be mentioned by Ketanji-Brown and Kagan in their dissents.
President Trump’s lawyer stuck to his guns because this isn’t a football match where you judge the outcome on whether your particular guy won.
This is about the rules going forward.
When you know that President Trump is innocent of insurrection but Biden, Clinton, Bush, and all of their families and 95 percent of Congress are guilty of insurrection, what should you want the rules to be?
You should want the rules to be that an Officer of the US, including a Presidentwho obtained his office by reason of said insurrection, are forever barred from holding office – after a trial for insurrection with due process has resulted in a guilty verdict, and that any official action taken by that person from the moment of insurrection forward was invalid.
THAT is the outcome we want here.
How do we clean house, and make sure the future is secured against the Swamp?

No, the outcome you want is for your client to win. Arguing that the law applies in this case when it is clear to all that it doesn’t cuts against that outcome.
