I look at Evolution as the ultimate in the annals of politicized science. Even today, nothing will get one ostracized faster than casting aspersions on the settled science.
Not that I think they are wrong, just that they freeze the advancement of the field. We can ask if Newton and Einstein were wrong, we even get funded to run better experiments to improve our tests, but we still can’t ask if Darwin was wrong. That is bad for the field, no matter how right Darwin is.
