My answers would be 1) Manufacturing jobs moved overseas 2)Increased immigration of low income workers from third world countries 3) Changes in laws regarding lobbying, thus giving politicians far more opportunity to “sell their votes” for profit 4)Massive expansion of government bureaucracies…
PS – I think MANY of these things may have gotten started under Carter, and expanded during Reagan’s terms, but they really accelerated during GHWB, and SKYROCKETED during Clinton’s two terms (think WTO/NAFTA)!

The case is Moore vs the US … the communist tribunal of the US 9th Circuit sided with the government in allowing the Federal Government to TAX UNREALIZED CAPITAL GAINS, under the definition of INCOME in the 16th Amendment. Thus a citizen can be taxed on an unrealized gain and have NO CASH from that gain to actually pay the Tax.
This gives the congress the power assess taxes on anything they perceive as having gained in value. They can force a citizen to liquidate or sell any bit of privately owned assets via a high enough tax.

one more reason to replace income tax with sales tax. Exempt purchases of food, diapers, feminine hygiene, clothing under $100, prescription and over the counter drugs, etc.
The store collects the tax. My state has absolutely no clue what I earn, what I buy, etc. If the state thinks they’re being cheated, they go after the store. Illegals, drug dealers, etc don’t report income tax, but they buy stuff at Walmart.

Second item in this amendment would require the existence of a formal budget to collect any domestically generated tax at all.

We need to repeal the Federal Income tax, shift taxation to the States, and force the Feds to beg the States for money instead of allowing the Feds to confiscate monet directly from our earnings. We also need to forbid indiscriminate money-printing, repeal FISA and the Patriot Act. We also need the States to assume the Federal debt with a plan to retire it within 30 years.

My kid fixes these things at his job..
He’s telling me that people are paying thousands for these EV lawnmowers, snow blowers.. all sorts of these sorts of things and they are not cheap.
They have them piling up in the shop BROKEN.
These things are absolute JUNK, very expensive JUNK.
He went into great detail about the details of this, the plastic that all the innards are that are breaking with one twist or pull.
The parts they can’t get.
The space this stuff takes up in their shop because they can’t move forward without the part.. the pissed off customers yelling at them.. (the people in the shop are not the owners that stocked this inventory!)
DO NOT BUY THIS STUFF.
And I don’t say this because of the EV aspect of it, these products are just no good, don’t waste your money.
In talking to him, I see bankruptcies and big troubles coming and the people that spent big bucks on this stuff are going to be screwed.. the writing on the wall is clear if you can talk to the people trying to fix all this Chinese junk.

Well, actually, I now have both an electric lawn mower and an electric “weed whacker,” both of which I bought voluntarily. 😮 And I am quite satisfied with them. (The mower isn’t my “only” mower, but the electric is a great finishing tool.) Both units use the same interchangeable batteries, which last a good long time.
Particularly with the second one: no more futzing around with a little two-stroke engine, first trying to get the damned thing started, then to get it to STAY started! Just squeeze the trigger and go. I’d recommend an electric “whacker” now to anyone. Along with a cordless electric drill.
In both cases, they are lightweight and easy to handle. And the mower, upon encountering any obstruction, instantaneously “stops.”
But: I will never buy an electric “car,” because I know the technology isn’t ready for that. Maybe things like “fuel cells” someday, but “we’re simply not there yet.” They cannot yet produce a viable product that I can (yet!) consider.
That’s how it should be – the right tool for the job. Ask anyone in the construction trades. I’ve a mix of corded and battery tools. I’ve no practical use for an electric truck. I’ve some battery power outdoor/yard tools that are convenient, but the gas 48″ walk behind and 5-foot tractor-pulled mowers are necessities.
Free market. You and Marcia below made a choice based upon your needs, the available alternatives, the pricing of each option and expected utility.
That is how it should be. The problem with EV’s is that you and I are ultimately being COMPELLED to buy them and in the meantime, our Gov’t is taking tax dollars to provide perverse incentives that distort the market. Retired Magistrate here: I bought a light weight battery powered weed wacker, leaf blower and little chain saw for pruning. I have been pleased with all of them. The gas powered ones are just too heavy for me (full tear in rotator cuff 10 years ago and partial in another plus arthritis) and I can manage these. My husband uses the gas powered ones and I assist with my light weight ones.
Riding mower is gas powered and tractor diesel. They are both old but work very well.
My husband uses a cordless electric drill which he likes a lot. We have 50 plus year old large decks and the boards need replacement every year. Running a bunch of extension cords is a hassle so the battery powered drill works well.
People need to get what works best for them.
Got the whacker( lots of power), hedge cutter(tired of cutting the cord) and blower–all use the same battery. Happy with all; also have a snow blower–with a reasonable snow I do everything and then the batt needs a recharge-2 hrs. What’s not to like.
I have an battery powered lawn mower, good for trimming and as backup for when my gas zero turn has to go into the shop, else it’s $120 to get someone to cut the lawn. I also have a battery powered snow blower, which I love, no more worries of will the blower start today, which it frequently didn’t, with 6″ of snow waiting in the driveway.
I like the concept of an electric auto eliminating a lot of parts that have to maintained on a gas powered car like exhaust, etc. but, as you say, they are not “there” yet.
That’s where I am. Electric weed whacker and push mower. Gas backpack blowers and ZTR mowers. If it needs sustainable power, electric isn’t an option.

I went into a NAPA auto parts store in a nearby small town. It’s been there forever – you know, the ones with car parts, mower parts, tractor parts etc. No computers just a guy that knows where everything is. He did not have the part I needed, told me NAPA took away his 50 year franchise and gave it to a regional conglomerate.
He tuned the place into a small engine/power equipment repair shop. The big box stores send warranty stuff to him – mowers, trimmers etc. When I commented on what Chinese junk it all is, he laughed and took me out back to see a literal mountain of nearly new mowers, trimmers and chainsaws.
“I don’t fix much of anything” he said. The parts are too expensive or take weeks to get – its cheaper for the manufacture to pay me to junk it than to fix it.

They are actually having serious space issues now because of that same “Mountain” they have as well.
Look, they make millions of these products. Of course there are some good ones and yes, I know there are benefits to this. BUT we’re taking a risk buying them because given that there are the issues you and I are describing, the risk is real.
So there is a real need to do the homework here and be prepared that what you are buying might get added onto the mountain of broken ones at your local repair shop.
This mountain of broken stuff is now becoming such a problem that this small repair shop is trying to figure out what to do to move forward, knowing this is not going away.. they understand policy changes need to happen.. adapting to this reality.
Because, this right here is what is shutting these places all down!
If you want your local repair shop open.. then here are their challenges.
And lastly, how is this “Green” at all, to throw this amount of stuff away?
Many old fashioned chainsaws and weed-whackers may be be heavy but at least the stuff can be fixed over and over again and have a long lifespan.. saving it from the land fill- with rising costs there to dispose it.

“Junk….very expensive Junk”….brings to mind things like appliances and ac units. Here in the south , especially on the coast, it is a given ac units will last tops, 15 years. So we are given a “price” break over our northern neighbors of about half the cost. “rigged” anyone…..they are made to not last as are the appliances. Use to….when made in the US, would last a long time if maintained over the years. We have been sold down the road on the “cheaper” only cheaper is not just the purchase price. Which by the way, the purchase price is no longer cheap. How are the people who invested in making , selling these products screwed when the government is forcing you to buy? These people either have the inside scoop or believe the govt. , and they in turn, will win this arrangement.
It’s likely that EV’s are designed to go into a controlled shutdown in low temperatures to protect the battery while maintaining critical settings needed for reboot. We saw those videos of pizzed off Tesla owners complaining about charging station failures. Things were probably working as designed………………..

And anyway, why would a dive even be required? A consumer grade ROV with video link would allow a bomb to be lowered next to the pipeline which isn’t even buried. Or, a bomb could be dragged along on the bottom perpendicular to the pipeline until it stuck on something which would be the pipeline.
Yet, for some reason the ONE country that benefits MOST from this is NEVER mentioned.

Beneath the soil of the Ukraine is a network of gas pipelines through which part of the Russian supply to Europe passes. Between 2004 and 2005, 80% of Russian gas destined for Europe passed through the Ukrainian subsurface. When Gazprom (the Russian state-owned energy giant) cut off supplies to the Ukrainians in January 2006 and January 2009, the Ukrainians appropriated the gas destined for Europe, resulting in huge losses for those countries highly dependent on Russian gas, and this in turn greatly discredited Russia as a supplier.
In order to avoid this Ukrainian transit system, the Russians decided to build two new gas pipelines. Gazprom said that linking a gas pipeline directly to Germany without the need to go through transit countries would avoid cutting off Russian gas exports to Western Europe, as had already happened twice. Thus, was born the Nord Stream (Northern Stream, Севеверный поток) project, a gas pipeline that would link Russia to Europe (directly to Germany via the Baltic Sea) without the need to pass through Ukraine or Belarus.
The main opponents of Nord Stream 2 have been the Baltic countries, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary(?), Romania, Croatia, Moldova—and mainly Poland and Ukraine; all of them supported by the European Commission and the US. These countries opposed Nord Stream 2 because a direct gas pipeline to Germany could mean the stoppage of energy supplies to them, as well as depriving them of lucrative transit tariffs.
Ukraine’s transit used to supply 44% of Russian gas for the EU, pocketing the (increasingly corrupt) state coffers some $3 billion a month. But with Nord Stream 2, this was to change and the transit through the Ukrainian subsoil was to be reduced by a further 10 times. This would have caused Ukraine to lose 3% of its GDP. In Ukraine this was seen as undermining its sovereignty and also the collective energy security of the whole of Europe, as transit of gas through Ukraine deters Russian aggression, and this would end with the opening of Nord Stream 2, which in turn would have made Germany the main gas hub in Europe.

The above case precisely confirms what I’ve posted here before, recently and long ago. It’s a simple fix for the US:
I independently found the following gaping loophole in the US Code many years ago.
It’s actually offset/indented within the code, probably so employers don’t miss it.
Eliminate this loophole that allows businesses to hire illegals with no real consequences when caught doing so and you would thereby eliminate much of the incentive for illegal immigration – employment.
Guess who is specifically designated to be the SOLE authority responsible and enabled to eliminate it. The POTUS.
With this loophole present, you can hire some very tanned, Latino-looking guys in their mid-20s who can’t speak a word of English standing outside Home Depot who each have “a document or combination of documents that reasonably appears on its face to be genuine“ like something that says they were all born in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, etc., and YOU the employer are good to go and any effort on your part to get proof of the validity of those documents is not required and perhaps even ILLEGAL (ed. SEE ABOVE for recent proof).

Of course, if any POTUS actually fixed this, who would work on nasty, giant poultry farms, in meat processing plants and in all of the other really nasty jobs where they don’t dare complain about working conditions or unionize because of their illegal status and easy replacement? Which is also why national, mandatory E-Verify will NEVER be enacted.

(600,000 counted; civilians not counted but estimated by some as >2 million; total population then about 35 million). It was a devastating mistake that we cannot afford to do again.

We’re just going to have to fix the problems that we now have in the system that we now have. Having first undertaken to govern ourselves, we are now going to have to fix the bugs ourselves.

Consumerism – Consumerism is a social and economic order in which the goals of many individuals include the acquisition of goods and services beyond those that are necessary for survival or for traditional displays of status.
The US economy is mostly consumption driven. The CCP’s economy supplies many of the products for that consumption.
Lowering consumption means YOU are actually in control in the ONLY way you can be since, at this point, an individual’s vote in a dumbed down, attention deficit society is like throwing a water purification tablet into India’s Ganges River.
Rather than forever putting fingers in the neo-Maoist cultural divison holes constantantly being drilled into the cultural lifeboat by Bud Light or some movies by Disney or Netflix, what you will be doing is mildly boycotting the entire system. Your actual control in this case, unlike the mostly illusional control of voting, will exist because money and power are the only things your “leaders” and their true owners care about.
As major additional benefit, before it has any serious effects here it would push the CCP over the very tall economic cliff they are currently on which is the reason why Xi recently visited the left coast to suck up with his US sycophants.

Most people would think that if all debts were paid back that there’d be huge amount of money in circulation. EXACTLY the opposite. If all debts were paid there would be ZERO money in circulation. By lowering your conspicuous consumption you can get TOTALLY out of debt.
This has one effect via two means: your removal of money from circulation by extinguishing your debt and by lowering business activity you will create forces for DEFLATION, something which is actually beneficial to the consumer and absolutely hated by the fiat money creators and governments who use inflation as a hidden tax AND as a path to more tax receipts. For example, when the theoretical PAPER value of your home increases due to inflation, do you pay your increased property taxes with THEORETICAL money. Nope.
BTW, the Fed’s much touted 2% target INFLATION rate wasn’t based on any calculations, it was simply pulled out of someone’s ass:

The legal standard an election must meet, in order to be certified!
1. The voter rolls must be accurate.
2. Votes cast must be from eligible voters.
3. The number of votes counted must equal the number of voters who voted.
4. The maximum number of ballots in error, for a valid federal election, is 1/125,000.
