This op-ed published in Politico is intended to sound the alarm about President Donald Trump fundamentally destroying the system of career civil service agents in Washington DC, and it’s also a little funny.
I mean, if you built an echo-chamber ideological in magnitude and scale, then self-isolated inside the DC beltway barrier, this would be exactly the type of alarm to follow.
POLITICO – […] President Donald Trump’s sweeping proposal to convert thousands of career civil servants into political appointees if he wins a second term in the White House. That plan — which has won the support of powerful, Trump-aligned conservative think tanks such as the Heritage Foundation and the America First Policy Institute — is modeled on an executive order from Trump’s first term that redesignated 20,000 civil servants in policy-related positions as “Schedule F” employees, thereby allowing them to be fired unilaterally by the president.
[…] Americans should not underestimate the damage that the reforms would do to the federal government’s ability to deliver basic services in a timely and efficient manner. “At the end of the day, it’s intuitive,” he said. “If you are selecting people on the basis of their political persuasion or their loyalty as opposed to their expertise and their commitment to the public good, you’re going to wind up with less good service and more risk for the American people.” (MORE)
Apparently, Mr. Max Stier has misread the room.
Dear, DC Career Civil Servants,
FU!
Warmest regards,
America
WHY?
If they did nothing wrong, then WHY are they apoplectic?
Guilty people always worry about such things.
They know that they “work from home” about 2 hours a day, 4 days a week, and the one day they come into the office, they spend the day shmoozing with friends, shopping in the State Department store for family gifts, and wining/dining at fancy restaurants on government Visa cards.
Some also have gay anal sex in the official conference rooms.
Mea culpe, I laughed, as the delivery of your response is superlative.
learn something new everyday. what’s the E.V. that card is lopsided ,even more than I ever imagined. and to see such a ,( ) I don’t know what,Charlatan would be my verb or adjective .what’s her Pro nouns again? And salt the earth, to be sure!
Not a nice thing to say. they will and us with it. I renumber the days when Sparky was my best dog. No-more they said it was inhumane. I was with my dad at the track. first time i ever saw a rabbit loose steam. I the end of the night! I hit the superfecta. he wasn’t happy guess is the least i can say. he did $5 quinella’s and got Jack. he was visibly upset. Told me it would never ever happen again and I would through it all away trying. I use to go to them all . it was very entertaining and not as easily fixed like the Horses.
You know I hit 2 more times that month. and yes ,the very first thing I did was go to my dads and show him my slips.
“Tens of Thousands of Career “Civil Service” Administrators in Washington, DC, Apoplectic That Trump Might Fire Them”
Oh, good!!
Fear they should, for not their jobs, but for the EVIL they have committed!
If our economy is as “shot” as these a-holes have made it, then they are merely a statistic. Nothing more, deserving of no sympathy.
Let THEM wonder how they will feed their families, heat their homes, pay their bills.
Give all of them a framed, autographed photo of Al Sharpton saying, “The chickens have come home to roost!”
They are Servants, serving at Our Pleasure. Take them away!!!
They may be servants but they aren’t serving at OUR pleasure.
Just start with a likely most accurate assumption that 80% of the bloated DC government employed leaches serve exactly no productive purpose. The remaining 20% could be easily evaluated on their value to the nation as productive non-political employees.
same as magnetic flux. evil. bad or whatever you call it draws the same type stuff and you know what they say.
when Elections don’t work out. brother can you spare a dime. apples or pencils today?
one day your a millionare next……………not so much
He was an FBI informant ,same as Bulger and Flemi. but he was the proud new owner of a race card .and he burned through that and every other dollar he got through his shake downs
I will say this tho” Bulger had a bone to pick with the Government when he was on the Island they experimented on him to see what LSD did to him. screwed with his head. My brother was on LSD before did seem to mess with his head. but what happens when they T Leary a convict at that island ? they never told us how the test went did they?
some are myths and some are created
William would be selling the story to make money for the Victims no doubt ,but even he knows that’s old news. you know the Father flannigan stories and all that. it does mimic that era. and would be a very hard sell.
What comes around goes around.
“ability to deliver basic services in a timely and efficient manner.”
– is this a joke? Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha . . . . . .
Probably not, but then we likely don’t know as to what they are referring as “basic services“, nor do we know what they believe is a “timely and efficient manner“…….
Remember that the CommieCrats arbitrarily change word definitions (on the fly) to suit their narratives….
That male couple caught filming themselves while In flagrante delicto inside the Capitol’s Judiciary Committee Room probably thought that was “delivering basic services”…. so you never know….
They can do it all they want . but at least have a shred of decency and the Brains to do it at home or .call barney frank . he would be glad to hook them up.
More like delivering the goods.
Not even the post office is capable of that.
Damn right. They clearly read “Hokkoda” here and elsewhere.
The firings that will be needed to decapitate the #resistance are going to need to be epic in nature. “Unprecedented” as the media likes to intone.
My recommendation is that all political appointees are fired on Inauguration day. Career civil service is a layer or two down, but certainly within key departments like DOJ, FBI, DOD, CIA, there needs to be some research done on who the “tunneled in” Obama people are, who participated in the MAL raid, who participated in the Ukraine/J6/Russia hoaxes, etc. some of those will need to be immediate firings as well.
It’s going to take a long time to rip out the roots, but we can start by clearing the brush.
The other reform Trump needs to ram through? All government jobs become “at will” employment.
Purge baby purge.
Even so, there will still be sooooo much that Leviathan does now that is nowhere to be found in the US Constitution,
I heard someone say ‘Revolution, not Reform!’. I absoultely concur.
Good point. Reminds me of Thomas Jefferson, “ He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.”
But the reckoning comes first.
My dad used to have a plaque on the wall of his office back in the 70’s and 80’s when he was Executive Director of a large business, “When you’re up to your ass in alligators, it’s hard to remember that your objective is to DRAIN THE SWAMP.”
Upon winning the election, PDJT (or his chief of staff) should put the word out that he will be expecting letters of resignation from every Ambassador, every 3 and 4-star flag officer currently on active duty, and any other government official or quasi-government official who was appointed by the imposter, I mean FJB.
Don’t forget the various “czars” (e.g. flip-flop Kerry) and US “attorneys.”
You’re too kind. There might be a few he wants to keep, but he shouldn’t ask for resignations. He should say nothing. Then on Inauguration Day, perhaps during his speech, announce the firings.
I would not fire all the 3 and 4 stars. Weed them out over time. The way our military is organized, it would create a lot of problems and put the nation in danger. You have to push authority down before you eliminate the people at the top. Sadly, our military has become so sclerotic and risk averse that removing the GOs would make it nearly impossible for us to defend ourselves.
First we must listen to their wounded howls. They will be long, loud and mighty.
But just like Ulysses, put wax in our ears and drown out their wails. We shall keep sailing, until we can see America again on the horizon again. Founders never contemplated we would turn this precious country over to a weaponized deep state of government bureaucrats, who cannot be terminated.
Ha! I’m remembering the photo of the White House workers outside the Oval Office when PDJT was elected with their long faces.
Regime media will pitch it as “revenge”. Planned media campaigns to counter that narrative need to be part of the purge process.
I used to think the same, but then I saw how the left operated starting with Obama.
They just acted, then dared anyone to question them, including the media. If they were forced to respond, it was usually a very short answer that essentially said, “so what”.
There are many, many instances where the left just acts, and nothing is ever said in response.
I meant no irony response vis-a-vis yours.
So what.
Fine with me. If I was Press Secretary, I’d have the scene from Tombstone on the WH main page, “Oh make no mistake about it. It’s not revenge he’s after. It’s a reckoning.”
Bingo, H!
🎯🎯🎯💥💥💥
“…to the federal government’s ability to deliver basic services in a timely and efficient manner. ” STAHPPPPP!!! I’m gonna wet myself 😂🤣🤣🤣 Husband works for the USPS and let me tell you, it’s being dismantled. Oh, and people chosen for their (checks column) “expertise and their commitment to the public good”??? Only the truly ignorant believe that trope. Mostly they are selected for their preferred pronouns or country of origin.
Remember when they had to lock the gates to the national parks and arrest that guy trying to mow the lawn at the Lincoln Memorial because otherwise nobody noticed the government shutdown in 2013?
Their fear isn’t a disruption of services. Their fear is not being missed.
Yes, no-one ever missed a leach he pulled out of his ear.
or off your balls. vietnam dec1968-dec1969 101st 502nd. lz sally
Don,
Thank you for your service.
In all sincerity,
hv
Ouch!!!
From WHat I know, ‘Basic Services’ are what we should, and traditionally have, done for ourselves.
The welfare transfer payments are all automated now. EBT cards, direct deposit, etc. Nobody will notice fewer bureaucrats.
bureaucrats missed? Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha . . . . What a hilarious oxymoron that is!
How about the ones that usually stay home as ‘not needed’ or whatever they call them when the gooberment has a shut down. Would they make up the 80% that need to go?
“Nonessential”. After 2013 there was a big move to designate many more as “essential” to weaning the impact of a shutdown.
One of the great, sometimes forgotten, insults of covid lockdowns was how tens of millions of American workers were simply told “You’re not essential” while useless government bureaucrats were sent out to harass business owners.
Basic services? Like closing down Memorials during the Obama years where they put up Barricades during a government shutdown, but then just happened to open up certain venues when the paid protestors came to town?
You are correct though.
In SoCal virtually every USPS employee is Asian, and mostly female. Korean, Filipino or Chinese. Funny how that happened.
The past office hasn’t delivered mail in my area since Wednesday. I put Christmas thank you notes in the box at 8 a.m. Thursday for pick up and they are still there.l so I know they haven’t delivered. This is a town of over 50K people, not some rural area. No one at the post office picked up the phone today so I could ask why.
Timely and efficient my tush!
I guess that if we don’t have an asteroid available to fall upon the hellscape of corruption, then perhaps firing might be an acceptable start.
“Giant Meteor 2024”
🙂
US Constitution,
Article 2, Section 1
“The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America”
Article 2, Section 3
“he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.”
The chief executive can hire and fire anyone in the executive branch is how I read it. Otherwise he is not the chief executive and the phrase is meaningless
These are the same people who was nasty and back stabbing to the President the first time around and yes, He has every right to fire all of them
they are nothing but back stabbing Dems who has no loyality to the President they serve at the time. So yes they need to go,
President Trump needs to clean house of all the top brass and then start through each of the offices and tell these people they have one hour to clear out their desks and leave the building or they will be escorted out by the police .
This is the same thing that Biden did to all of P.T people and he kept none of them so what goes around comes around and they all need to go and the walls in the white house needs to be torn out and they need to make sure this time Obama can not listen to anything that goes on there
and that goes for all the rest of those people who have caused much of the crap around President Trump back then and now. He deserves
far better treatment .
My personal preference would be to empty DC, and turn it into a mausoleum (that word is intentional). It should house only pictures, historical objects, etc. It should be “the city of the dead”.
Go back to the Constitution and unwind every agency, every service, every rule, every “treaty”, every agreement (as in NATO, the WHO, etc.), eliminate FDA, CDC, NIH (in other words every agency that has failed the American citizens), and establish a small government in another State to coordinate with the States only legitimate services (Interstate commerce).
We can take care of our own personal safety; as in which light bulbs we purchase, which toilets we install in our homes, the cars we prefer to drive, etc. Disband the IRS completely, along with the DOJ, the FBI, the DNI, etc.
In my estimation (and believe me, I have been in my past a State government employee, a Federal government employee and now a contractor to the Federal government), a full 3/4 of the federal government employees and agencies are nothing more than a burden on the tax payer.
Take a page or two out of President Mileui’s book. Oh, and do the same to the Pentagon – find out where all the dark and missing trillions have been going and make them give it back!
Watch the movie “Independence Day” and you’ll find out where the missing trillions went.
You deserve a job in the Trump administration. I would love to work for you doing exactly what you laid out. I am a retired civil servant myself and would gladly come out of retirement. It would be an honor.
It sounds like both of you could be invaluable to the Heritage Foundation’s (and others) Project2025.org database of potential conservative applicants for the next administration!
Send them all a cake from the Citizens and tell them to eat it!
I know I am dating myself but here goes:
When I was a kid, my Dad told us a story about one of his first jobs, as a young man, (in addition to working on his family farm). He worked for the local township road maintenance crew. When elections were held, whatever the winning party was, that determined the employees job status.
In other words; Dad said: “If the highway superintendent was a Republican, then to keep your job, you had to change to that party, or you were fired. So, some years, he was a Republican and other years a Democrat. His job was tied directly to the political machine.
When that changed, I do not know exactly. However, that was in the early 20th century.
My point is “so what’s the big deal”? Many people in all levels of government are faced with this decision whenever election time rolls around. And if the newly elected boss doesn’t like you, there is always a way to rid of the employee, good or bad. We’ve all lived through times such as this. (At least I thought we did…)
I hope President Trump finds a way to fire as many of these useless idiots as he possibly can. I have no doubt, the plan(s) have been in the works for quite some time now and the it’s just not yet time to put the icing on the cake yet.
So, let the crocodile tears start coming down the cheeks of these “dedicated public servants”! (So cringeworthy!)
IMHO, political party should stay out of it.
Fixing a pot hole, managing through a FEMA disaster, handling airplanes at the FAA, etc…should have NOTHING to do with politics.
The first thing I’d do, is eliminate ALL PUBLIC UNIONS.
The second thing would be to eliminate many programs and agencies that provide no real essential services.
Third is fire those who were not working up to par.
Dear civil servants (blagucguagtut) sorry that was me barfing at the though of y’all as servants rather than leeches.
Anyway, you can all fly to Mexico.
Then walk back across the border.
You will then be given more than most any severance package that we as common citizens expect.
You will also most likely be re-registered to vote.
That way you can vote twice….you’re all obviously cool with voter fraud, right?
.
The worst mistake the United States ever made was granting non-military civil servants pensions.
Worst mistake in the history of the Republic.
Worst.
I beg to differ: unionization.
Both
The Founding Fathers would have had no military pensions as they hated the very idea of a standing [career] army.
WRONG AGAIN! Small standing army.
It is quite apparent that you HATE everything US military, even though you try to qualify it as “not the grunts” when called out.
You have made it quite clear to those of us (especially veterans) that may attention.
Most of us agree about the waste and misguided actions by the politicians and Pentagon officials.
BUT, once again, you keep making it sound like it’s all the miiitary’s fault.
I’m sorry you were ‘forced’ into taking a commission in artillery and made to go Vietnam, sincerely, BUT this crapping on veterans of all stripes, particularly those of us who served VOLUNTARILY and with pride are tired of this.
Could you please give it a rest?
“It is quite apparent that you HATE everything US military, even though you try to qualify it as “not the grunts” when called out.”
There you go again. Having a hate filled outburst because you don’t agree with someone with a different opinion. Deep inside, you must be a democrat.
You must be a real blast at parties.
No. It’s not hate by a long shot. No one hates you.
I defend all opinions but blaming innocent people is getting old.
The only hate is when you’re challenged imo.
I disagree with you. And you don’t like it is the bottom line.
“You have made it quite clear to those of us (especially veterans) that may (pay?) attention.”
Who made you spokes person for all veterans?
Obviously, you don’t speak for me.
You’re right. I don’t speak for YOU. But I’m quite certain I speak for a lot of us.
Fugittaboutit…lm a vet. And l pay attention. And you’re wrong.
Au contraire, LV. Scut Farkas (dutchman) and Grover Gill (BK) are the self-appointed spokesmen/hall monitors of the Treehouse. Do not cross them. <sarc>
“Could you please give it a rest?”
In other words you want to censor me. You want to put a gag order on me like Jack Smith wants to do to Trump. Are the two of you related by chance?
I think you need to get more rest and then, maybe, you won’t be so cranky.
I’ve read your posts for while. Maybe it’d be less caustic if you could be more specific about which part of the “standing army” gives you problems.
Forget the Founding Fathers’ likes/dislikes. They didn’t have foreign powers pointing thousands of nuclear missiles, hypersonic missiles, nuclear submarines, and maintaining huge standing militaries (China especially) some of which are encroaching our very hemisphere. The Founding Fathers also didn’t have 50M illegal aliens – a large percentage of whom are military-aged young single males – invaders building up an “army” inside our nation for very suspicious and potentially catastrophic reasons.
and allowing Congress to take bribes, accept lobbying money and give themselves raises and perks. Congress is a BIG part of the problem.
Well, I wouldn’t go that far …. I was one of the few civil servants who not only did my job but did it well enough to earn the Meritorious Civil Service award. Not bragging, just saying. ☺
Hopefully the usps falls under Civil service. What a joke they are.
Some days we get no mail. Some days no packages. I asked the gal at the USPS local office. She said they don’t have nearly the staff they need. So they decide which neighborhood gets their mail on what days and divide it delivering packages. Apparently the drivers can’t do both on the same days as she said they are working 60-70 hours per week. It’s a mess here. Interesting that so much junk mail is delivered email and yet the usps can’t keep up. I don’t know what their pay is so maybe that’s a huge factor. Someone above posted husband works for usps and says it’s being dismantled. Question is why? Last line of communication a threat to tptb? Idk. Just spitballing.
So it’s my husband who is a rural USPS Driver- really rural. He has a regular mail car ( LLV) . Since the new UPS contract went into effect, Amazon has switched a lot of their parcel deliveries to the PO. Those mail cars are not designed for packages- there simply isn’t room. However, TPTB are prioritizing packages over mail. So he will sometimes have to stop delivering mail so he can finish the day’s packages. Some days neither are finished. Earlier this month he got home at 10 pm. He had worked six days a week since he was hired in February for 5 days a week. The pay is awful. We moved to the sticks from town in order to have a bigger property and a paid for ( tiny) house. He took a pay cut from six figures to about 55k and a whole lot less than that after taxes. That is after going through the months long hiring and training process that they do on their own dime until it’s reimbursed in a couple weeks. The local Postmaster is right now responsible for the POs of 5 towns, and she drove his route for 7 months before he was hired. I could go on and on. Oh, and I see they want to remove all sorting from WY and send it to either Billings or Denver for “ efficiency”. They are dismantling it.
CTH – “This op-ed published in Politico is intended to sound the alarm about President Donald Trump fundamentally destroying the system of career civil service agents in Washington, DC, and is also a little funny.”
NO Baby, we are going to send all their asses to the North Pole and to the coldest spot on earth for the rest of their lives!
Exchange “ukraine” for use of some of Russia’s taiga and Siberia’s desolate landscape?
I worked for a fed alphabet agency. Its worse that you think.
Under Billy Jeff/Hilda and then Champ/Bidet, they salted the DC swamp far deeper than just appointees. The entire SES is of course at the pleasure of the president but I would argue that the rot infests agencies down to GS/12 level, especially in State, Main Justice, DHS, EPA, Energy, and CDC/NIH. Worst of all, many are “protected” minorities and will be a disaster to root out amidst the procedural accusations of “racism”. The best solution is a “non-punitive” reassignment laterally into an agency where you collect all the miscreants in one pot, neuter them and offer early-retirement sweetheart exits. Huge expense but far easier that the gorilla warfare they would conduct for years onside the agencies!
Oh, it’s even deeper than you know! Even at the lowliest levels, team manager, etc., the political partisanship is extreme.
A manager told me not long ago that he believes Buttigeg would make a great President….think about it.
My former sister in law thinks Pete is “smart as a whip”. Crickey.
Create a new Cabinet-level agency — the Department of Deadwood.
Root out, reassign, then abolish the Department of Deadwood.
CarsonValleyColonel: ‘The best solution is a “non-punitive” reassignment laterally into an agency where you collect all the miscreants in one pot, neuter them and offer early-retirement sweetheart exits. Huge expense but far easier that the gorilla warfare they would conduct for years onside the agencies!’
That’s the only way it can be done. (Really. It is the only way.) Create a holding organization inside OMB headquartered in Leavenworth, Kansas called the Interagency Bureau of Management Executive Retraining. The principal job assignment for those reassigned to this agency will be to study the US Constitution and then to recite it verbatim from memory.
Bring it, Baby! With apologies in advance to the good ones, there are way, way too many slugs sitting on their butts collecting paychecks while they screw off.
The ones doing nothing I have much less of a problem with than the ones who are actively engaged in turning me into a serf.
Kind of like saying stupid and lazy is preferable to stupid/evil and ambitious.
Speaking as a former civil servant, I agree with you.
During the First American Revolution, Hessian mercenaries employed by the Rothschild family were the tip of the tyrannical spear. The first significant victory in our independence came when Washington crossed the Delaware on Christmas and destroyed the Hessians in Trenton.
Tell me what is the difference between those Hessian mercenary tyrants and every current Fedcoat tyrant working for three letter agencies? The uniform.
There will be a civil war, but it won’t be a race war like the elite are planning. It will become We The People against every mercenary with a government parking sticker on their enviro-conscious hybrid car.
Make sure you are on the side if the free speech absolutists. All others are foe.
My give-a-**** meter seems to have malfunctioned and the strings seem to be missing from my violin
To Whom It May Concern: If your Job, or the Department or Agency that you “work” in, is not enumerated in the Federal Constitution : then, yes, you should expect to be fired.
Signed,
We The People
Ah, “the public good” hits the key concept. For the most part, there is no such thing as “the public good” outside of the content of the Bill of Rights. There is no “one size fits all” outside of inalienable rights. Anyone using that term to support their own ideological position is in all likelihood a despot vying to control our lives according to his own agenda.
There are three phrases that have propelled us into the downward spiral we are on: “For the children;” “For the public good;” and “For national security.”
These three have been bastardized by the Uniparty.
and I think there are a few more… “for the planet”, “for the whales (and polar bears)”.
Congress needs to be involved in this as well. Decades of federal legislation and procedures covering the entire federal civil service need to be amended and/or repealed. The President cannot do that alone.
I’ve said for years that if you draw a government paycheck you should not be allowed to vote for any office that oversees your division. It’s a direct conflict of interest.
Would this include DOD civil service employees or would they be excempt on account of the DOD doing such a good job at defending America from invasion?
Or maybe DOD employees would be except as the DOD has done such a good job at completing audits?
When are you going to stop blaming the DoD itself when you damn well they are following the orders of the elected officials?
You claim you were an officer in the past. So, you should know this, period!
You continuously claim that that’s it the military’s fault why we’re in the shape we’re in, but then when challenged about the military doing tribunals under Trump as a possibility, you claim that’s third world shit that would never happen or shouldn’t.
That’s not even logical by Voltaire’s standards, your hero.
Can you reconcile without complaining you’re being victimized?
Are you stalking me? You seem obsessed with me. That’s embarrassing to me and not healthy for you.
You’re on a roll, LV.
The wicked flee when none pursueth.
I’d be happy if President Trump just tells them, “You can keep your job until you retire. Your position will be eliminated at 5:00 PM on the day you retire.” Make Attrition Great Again.
not me. death to tyranny.
“You can keep your job until you retire provided that you never again enter a federal office or conduct any federal business whatsoever. You position will be eliminated …’
Oh well, guess they can learn to code, right?
😂 the latest boomerang!
They can compete with the illegals for the menial jobs they’re suited for.
After all, what do those who perform “non essential” jobs really do?
They are the Senior Executive Service, an arm of the British Pilgrims Society. https://aim4truth.org/2019/10/24/senior-executive-service-white-collar-traitors/
But we are told President Trump can;t win so why are they worried?
He can;t win, won;t be on the ballot, will be in jail..I don;t see the
problem…
Some of you not so civil “civil servants” should charged and convicted of high crimes and misdemeanors.
The total number of federal employees is staggering.
https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/data-analysis-documentation/federal-employment-reports/reports-publications/federal-civilian-employment/
1,869,986 off them per link.
950,000 (per DOD source) of them DOD which is more than all the others combined.
almost all states have state employees who do federal programs to avoid being counted as a federal worker
And then there are all the contractors too. The DOD probably has more than any of the others.
Anyone else noticed that that OPM list is from back in September, 2017?
Wonder what the 2022, last year’s report is? Or is this the latest OPM report available? — If so, that is exactly the reason we could easily eliminate 50% of government employees as they are definitely not efficient or timely!
If one truly wants to cut civil service employees, the logical place to start would be the three letter that has the most.
“The Department of Defense employs 950,000 civilians, many serving in critical positions worldwide. There are multitudes of opportunities requiring a diverse range of skills. If a competitive salary, great benefits, unsurpassed training, and the pride of defending our Nation interests you, then your future is with DOD.
Civilian employment with the Department of Defense (DOD) offers an exciting opportunity to tackle the world’s greatest challenges. DOD’s Civilian team consists of diverse talent with a wide array of backgrounds and experiences that influence the world, applying innovation and expertise to produce cutting-edge results that have a long-lasting impact. “
That’s ignorant.
It is the SES, GS 14-15, O-6 through O-10 , ranks that control every agency in DOD and similar in other agencies. Not the multitude of employees. Mgmt drives the bus. Not welders, geeks, and ordinary workers.
That 950,000 you mention is more like 900,000 workers and 50,000 senior officials.
So, who do you “cut”? Employees who remanufacture every jet engine for all branches of the DoD? Maybe it is the engineering and construction divisions of the Army, Navy, and USAF, that manage the design and construction worldwide for all of the US Bases? Or the Contracting Officers who administer every contract?
Yes, there is dead weight. But the Management allows it and the Unions preserve it. The senior officials are the ones responsible for the decisions that allow it. Congress is responsible for the Civil Service Reform Act.
Fix the real problem. Bad management and bad law. The rest will take care of itself.
“That 950,000 you mention is more like 900,000 workers and 50,000 senior officials.”
The same ration applies to the rest of civil service.
They are all bloated top to bottom, just the top more so. The DOD is especially bloated.
And they can’t even complete a damn audit, let alone pass one.
You can’t tell him nothing.
He apparently hates the US military officials with a passion and it shows up every single day on and on.
Hello again, Stalker.
Do you have a blood pressure monitor handy?
If so, check your BP. Even though you hate me, I wouldn’t want you to stroke out.
I don’t hate you.
I think you have some issues is all.
Take a long hard look in the mirror.
To be honest, I hated a few military officials, mostly hacks and incompetent, corrupt ass wipes. Best Commanders I had were Vietnam veterans. Took no shit off anyone. Mission and results oriented.
That said, there are always a skanky group of brown nosing, good for nothing, asswipe, elected and appointed officials who couldn’t pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the heel. And a lot of criminals in that group.
I spent 30 years as an Engineer, designing and managing projects around the world. My mission was to complete the project on-time, on-budget, on-performance, and save the Govt twice my salary or more.
If you want to see how F’ed up things have been/are/will be, watch “Pentagon Wars”.
It is a true story. How could the government spent 17 years and $14 billion developing a simple troop carrier.
Would that be the M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle?
they outsource a LOT of their work to contracting companies. They should be the first to go. The contractors.
Only problem is – who would do the actual work them?
Again, ignorance.
Contractors are hired by Govt to “do work”. Sometimes it is ‘actual work’ and sometimes it is a political game.
Would you prefer that the US Govt hire every employee of Boeing, Raytheon, Brown & Root, etc, or confine their employment to ‘contractor status’ for specific products and timeframes without permanent employment?
The “only problem is” is that Politics and Ideology infect the “work” and the “products”.
Do you really think that the workers are the problem or that the management/leadership is the problem?
Yes. I’ve seen slacker workers. But they were hired and protected by Management. The biggest parasite upon the taxpayer is the cadre of politicized leadership in every department of government. Those people are on a political mission, not a contractual or performance mission. Get your head straight. The workers didn’t hire themselves. The managers/politicians/leadership did. The missions weren’t decided by the employees, they were decided by elected, appointed, and partnered, management.
You get the nation you elect and tolerate. The workers come and go. But the game is created, allowed, and promulgated by the elected officials and the allowed limits of their powers. That is why there are PACs, why lobbyists write laws, why AOC can go from broke bartender to Millionaire in 2 years on a 174K salary. Fish rot from the head down. So do governments. Take your whine elsewhere and get a grip on who the real monsters are: The criminal elected class and their minions.
FIRE EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM!
Example: August 2001, on my first week of employment in DC. 0800 hrs, coffee shop, basement of Cohen Bldg, 3rd and C.
Table behind me were all State Dept. Overheard their conversation. “Presidents come and go. We’re the Real government. We can slow roll anything for 4 yrs. The ship goes where we steer it.”
These are the kind of “employees” who need to get fired. They usurp chain of command and the entire elected government.
Take a look at the incomes of residents in the counties surrounding DC, both in Maryland and Virginia. I’d be terrified, too, if I thought I was gong to lose that salary, pension and benefits.
A scythe indeed does need to be used in order to downsize the current offices of Circumlocution, but I’m not sure that 50,000 political appointees would make it any better.
This cuts both ways. The Dems could use it too.
Think Stalwart, Conklin, Boss Tweed, Tammany Hall.
A better approach might be to sever the many civil service protections which has insulated tenured sycophants from dismissal, by leaving them in place for decades.
I’m in the rare federal agency that probably votes for the conservative candidate on a ratio of 9 to 1.
The problem i currently see with in the agency has less to do with the current civil service employees, but with the politically motivated leadership handpicked and appointed to subvert established law. The problem I have with many of the civil servants within the agency is failing to stand up against what I consider to be unethical (if not illegal ) orders by political appointees.
Dems??? Republicans??? Cut Both ways= Uniparty. Clean house, relocate agencies and downsize is the only way to start to bring us back normality.
It would be a good start. But I’d like to see five or six zeroes on the firings, gotta get the SES. “Useless as teats on a boar hog” the government employee ESPRIT DE CORPS.
Remember that most federal employees do not live in DC, but in every county and city in the US doing the actual non-policy making work.
Out in the field the actual work is getting done.
Most of the feds working out of the DC offices are not even living in DC, they flood in daily from Virginia and Maryland.
I’d play my tiny violin but the strings are broken. Where have all these faithful agency officials not in DC been speaking up about the total corruption of their agency? Let these people deal with the Great Reset like the rest of us. Oh!! I forgot when they hack or crash the internet and Cell networks their phones will not work. How oh how will they be able to ask siri or the goog.
Well, at least ‘they’ got something right for a change.
Hey DS/IC,
YOUR TIME IS COMING!
Get ready, you POS!
Aren’t most of these parasites ensconced in unions? Let them strike and let them be fired for doing so. Problem solved.
No damage, unless these Beltway borgs intend to sabotage government operations.
Knock off the threats, do your jobs, and never forget you work for the taxpayers and voters.
I’m the DOD
Don’t cut me
Cut that little fellow behind the tree
Bummer, you mean half the Beltway employees won’t be able to spend 90% of their working time tracking conservative blogs?
Who will be left to poison the blogs with TDS blather and threats of false flag violence?
Learn to code, Beltway Bandits.
There is so much nepotism, plus hand selected minions in DC, it is not even funny. They all know the golden times are drying up soon. Retribution is something none of them thought would arrive for them. Throw out the trash. Accountability and Consequences will begin soon.
key phrase: policy-related
Civil servants in policy-related positions should be fire-able by the president, otherwise you get criminals like Vindman and Ciaramella who undermine the president. Who can forget their complaints about the president having a “rogue foreign policy” that is “contrary to the inter-agency” and their role in the shampeachment.
Just as they thought that a glorified librarian (the National Archivist) outranks the POTUS when it comes to what documents are classified and which ones can be held by whom.
They should be more afraid of space alien death rays. The really big ones.
Washington DC, and especially the White House, almost always gets vaporized when they show up. Never a Kroger in Ohio.
It’s either that or some really talented Koreans that totally make a mess of everything.
(Can you tell I have all those movies on an endless loop playing all day?)
Sorry, Deep State, but there is no place for you under the US Constitution. You are permissive at-will employees at best.
Make a New Years resolution to read the US Constitution. Then figure out where you fit into things.
Read the Federalist Papers for even more insights. Commit to returning America back to the original founding principles.
It started with House’s puppet, Woodrow Wilson.
