Belgium to give Ukraine F-16 fighter jets in 2025

Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder said the country would give several of their F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in 2025 and would offer to provide maintenance for the fleet. Belgium will also continue training Ukrainian Pilots.
Dedonder made this statement ahead of the NATO defense ministers’ meeting in Brussels.
In August, the Netherlands and Denmark announced that they would give more than 60 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine after they finish training Ukrainian pilots to fly them. Norway has also promised F-16s.

bloomberg – DEC 21 2023 – Denmark Can Send F-16 Jets to Ukraine After Gaining US Approval
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said he had received a “friendly letter” from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, giving Denmark “certain options for action,” according to an interview broadcast by DR on Friday.
He declined to say when Denmark might send the aircraft. The Nordic country has previously said it wants to hold on to its roughly 30 F-16 jets through 2024.
The aircraft are being phased out as Denmark receives 27 new F-35 Joint Striker Fighters it has ordered from Lockheed Martin Corp.

I don’t see much point in making a non-artistic recommendation about any work of art/fiction. I don’t believe art or anything else is predictive of history either, just enjoyable if there’s enough creative, skillful exploitation of the chosen thematic ideas.

While it seems worthwhile to have an impression on the times and the signs of the times, the value of potentially knowing a week or month just because that might not be ruled out has to be weighed against the risk of not redeeming the time and the very real possibility that you still might get it wrong, whether or not one is convinced what “generation“ signifies (as well as the various dates related to establishment a secular nation-state and associated lands) down to the last possibility.
If someone’s right about it, there’s going to be a lot to be dealing with, and if somebody isn’t, there’s gonna be a lot to be dealing with — which of course is dependent on whom of us are still going to be here at the given time period. Ingrassia makes a strong case in favor of Tucker, but IMO not strong enough. I share in his reticence to put Ben Carson on the ticket and for the same reasons: the good Doctor doesn’t come across as having enough steely resolve and a willingness to inflict significant retribution / payback on his political enemies should they “cross the line” that has been crossed against Trump.
The main problem I have is that Tucker has often (even recently) expressed his long-held desire to NOT get into politics as a politician for very good reasons. He doesn’t need the money or additional publicity; he knows he will be attacked much more than now, and he doesn’t want to be muzzled when he feels the need to express his opinion on anything.
I will acknowledge however that should President Trump approach Tucker with a specific offer, Tucker will find it VERY difficult to turn down because of the Queens NY businessman’s negotiating acumen and his reportedly VERY strong personal charm when he’s wooing anyone… And we all know Tucker likes President Trump’s policy agenda very much.

The case is supposed to be paused, as Chutkan has herself admitted. He should not be making filings and Chutkan certainly should not be making any rulings on the case. The case was paused at the behest of President Trumps attorneys. If Chutkan responds to Smith’s filing they should first appeal Chutkan un-pausing the case and Smith making a filing when the case is paused. I assumed paused meant nothing forward until appeals court rules on immunity. Smith should be shut down at every available opportunity and I refuse to use the title of Judge in front of Chutkan’s name.
Sounds fair. Opened a real can of worms in bringing this highly watched trial, with actual evidence about J6, against Trump.Wouldn’t want the truth to get out, expose the Feds.
Remember, the goal was NEVER to win his case in Court, legally and decisively i.e. after appeal.
And no, it certainly is not to incarcerate or imprison PDJT.
It is only for HEADLINES and “negative press” during the primary process, in order to lower his votes, so that combined with R party cheating in the primaries, Dems voting in “open primaries” (why Joe has no ‘competition’) rules changes for delegate apportionment, etc. the RNC will finagle the Cinvention to deny PDJT the nomination.
Thats the plan, and even as its crumbling Jack can’t just take his marbles and go home. He has to, at this point continue to play the hand he was dealt.
After a quick reading, the question arises – is this Jack Smith’s attempt to get this judge to summarily rule PDJT guilty, before there is a trial, similar to what happened with the NY Trump Organization trial and what happened to Alex Jones where both times the judges ruled defendants guilty so the actual trials were simply means to determine the punishment?
Is that what Mr. Smith is trying to get Chutkin to do here?
If so, combine all three of these trials and take to the Supreme Court for violating the Constitution’s right to a trial before ones peers and not allow judges to simply declare a person guilty because it fits the lawfare narratives? Not too much different from what Gen. Michael Flynn was forced to go through too.
Still thinking about this. Courts love precedents and the precedent set here is the Colorado judge ruled that PDJT was guilty of insurrection. He wasn’t on trial for insurrection, she simply used the conclusion of the J6 panel (which wasn’t even a legally constituted committee so held no legal bearing) but by her declaring him guilty, gave the Colorado supreme court the permission to include that judgment in their decision to block PDJT from that State’s primary ballots.
Precedent.
Now Jack Smith, ignoring the pause, illegally keeps on filing these things and as none of PDJT’s lawyers have yet to bring up the pre-trial (without jury) conclusion that PDJT is guilty of insurrection, is leaving this door wide open for another Alex Jones style ruling of guilty before trial before PDJT even goes to trial.
I think that’s the precedent Lawfare is laying the groundwork for – presumption of guilt so no need to prove guilt by the prosecuting agency but rather the accused must prove their innocence. Pretty sure that’s the slow crawl of fundamental change of our justice system, slowly at first, then all at once – and what better way to establish that change than with the most famous man in the world?
It is very possible that PDJT’s lawyers are operating under request from PDJT that they not battle that premature judgment and other actions by the prosecution and judges. Awhile back I read in an article or a comment that the lawyers figured the only way to get all the unethical, illegal, and unconstitutional actions by the AGs, prosecution lawyers and judges into the record is to let the actions occur and become part of the official record- -then take that more complete record of the “legal proceedings” to SCOTUS in the end for the ultimate appeal.
I like that. It makes a ton of sense.

Its part of the tactics of litigation, constantly filing applications to the court, throwing stacks of documents at the other side etc but this application to deny the defence its case/evidence in certain parts, is a cut throat pre-emptory move. It is laying out the next battle.
In any event, the case is stayed pending the appeal to the DC Appeals Court.
The filed appeal lodged by the defendant’s lawyers is very well drafted, its heavyweight. I have read somewhere, maybe the filed appeal, that the DC Appeals Court are not admitting the Meese Amicus Curiae. I am not surprised by that because the immunity brief is very solid in its own right. I have only read this once and need to read a few more times.
The article I read today,( sorry I don’t have the link), stated that in any other case such as this, the attorney filing in a court where a stay is in place, would normally be sanctioned by the judge in question.
So, I’m waiting to see if Chutkan does any such thing or if President Trump’s team files for a court order sanction against Smith.

I experience varying degrees with two different phones everyday.
It quieted down a little around Christmas. This morning it was fine.
It’s picked back up this afternoon.
I used my laptop for 3 weeks to access TCT, when I came back with mobile the demon had moved on to another unsuspecting conservatives’ phone.
It’s strictly a technical problem on your end. Something is generating mouse or keyboard events. Likely failing hardware. Clean the mouse, especially if it isn’t laser (as it should be).
You likely have a setting in your browser to refresh when new stuff posts.
Try switching between MOBILE and DESKTOP in settings for this site in your browser.
Try a different browser. Brave works great on tablet (for me) and others have liked it on their phones.
I use Brave exclusively for CTH on all three devices – MacBook Laptop, iPAD, and iPhone.
Laptop (2015) has zero issues despite being almost 9 years old.
iPad Pro (2015) is also almost 9 years old and is painfully slow to refresh the Daily Open Thread page because it’s always loaded with graphic images, embedded Tweets, and embedded YouTUBE videos.
iPhone 11 is fast because it displays a much simpler, more restricted view of CTH that is designed specifically for a mobile phone.
There are several issues that could cause that phenomenon.
The most often issue for me is if I start browsing or replying to any comment BEFORE the webpage itself has finished loading entirely. The page may appear to be loaded and ready to scroll or reply, but unless you know the telltale symbols on YOUR particular browser that indicate “page loading” or when its finished and ready for use, then you might be experiencing the final page refresh after it’s fully loaded – thats when videos, images, and twitter posts start opening up and pushing everything down screen.
